Base Design

Hi I have a field “employee” where I have enabled multiple records. I have made a form where it now is possible to add more than one employee. Is it possible to change the behavior, so that instead of creating a single record with lets say three employees in “employee”, three identical records with different employees is created ?

Having a lot of fun setting up my table, but in setting it up I’ve needed to spread out info over several sets of linked cells (in order to help with what is essentially inventory). So on my main inventory page, for one item I have several columns that each essentially point to different projects the items are used in. I would like to have all of that combined in one cell, but of course the concatenate feature removes those links. Is there a way to concatenate the linked cells in such a way to keep them as expandable links?

We are using Airtable to track electrical construction projects (PROJECTS table), project clients and vendors (COMPANIES table), who worked on the project (PEOPLE table) and project photos (PHOTOS table). I have a junction table (PROJECT TICKETS) between PEOPLE and PROJECTS because this is many-to-many. PROJECT TICKETS also houses what the persons position was on the project, since this may change from project to project. The PEOPLE table also connects directly to the COMPANIES table since each person can only work for one company at a time. COMPANIES also links directly to PROJECT. The PROJECT table has separate fields for Client, Owner, General Contractor, Architect, Engineering Firm, each of which only hold one link to a record in the COMPANIES table. (Sorry for the long wind-up.) So I have a form for employees to fill out when they want to talk on a subject in a meeting Topic (single line text) Meeting Type (dropdown) Date (calendar) Their Name (dropdown) When it is filled out, it then creates separate meetings for each entry, which I DON’T want it to do! I Do want the entered TOPICs, from each form, to be listed in the field associated with that meeting, when the same meeting type and same meeting date are met. This is all within the same Table. What can I do for this? Do I need to use a separate Table and then link them in somehow? Or can it all be done on the same Table? I have stumped myself.

Is it possible to automatically link records that. match a condition? For example: i have a directory table in a base of all. the company employees and one of the fields is “team” and each employee has what. team he or she. belongs to. In. another table on the same base I have the things we need to buy, and those depend of the team you belong to. Is it possible to show in this second table all the people that. belong to a certain team from the directory table? Thanks!

Greetings, I’m fairly new to Airtable and not skilled in databases either. Also, I’ve looked thru the support forums for direction but all the relevant posts seem complicated/overkill. Hoping there’s a straightforward solution to what feels like a simple problem… We’ve got several Bases, for different purposes, but they all rely on the same data/list in one way or another. We’re trying to put this “universal” data in a separate Base, then link/import it to all the other Bases. Specifically, we’re a podcast network with a list of different shows we produce. The Show List is the “universal” data, needed in other bases for recruiting (which show is this role for?), interview questions (again, which show do these questions pertain to?), Advertisers (which shows are they advertising on?)…a dozen tables, all needing the Show List in some way. I have parents registering their kids for my etiquette classes using a form. I need the student name to be the main field (column 1) along with some demographic info about the student. I also need to collect the parents’ name and contact info. The tricky part comes when one parent is registering multiple kids. Is there anyway for the parent to only have to input their name and contact info ONCE, but then be able to add multiple kids and the unique demographic info associated with each kid. Maybe it’s possible with Sync? or Link to another record? or Lookup? For confidentiality, I don’t really want parents to have to scroll through a list of other student/parent names if possible. Not that it doesn’t work but it’s kind of a limited solution seems to me… that file stack or file stacker i don’t remember. It’s showing as service connecting to my Dropbox google drive etc and airtable and It’s for attaching pics or files directly to airtable. Yeh, it works but here are two issues I have : Dropbox doesn’t work for any other folder than the public folder. I sent support request so I’ll update here once I see what they say. Google drive and others is ok. I know the topic of downloading attachments has been beaten to ground here already so I’m not going to repeat. But this is now related to that integration to google drive and Dropbox etc. It is only works one way - uploading attachments to Airtable from Dropbox etc… If downloading multiple attachments to the mobile device doesn’t work - I guess it not even possible, but uploading them to Dropbox or google drive etc would be just the solution to fix the pr

Hi, I would like to be able to have a field that is either my SKU number, PO number, Sales order number that escalates as entries increase. In Excel I’d just pull down the cell and it would sequence as I go along. I can do that it seems only with a number field. But the number field doesn’t allow me to start with 00001, 00002. I’d have to change to a txt field but then it seems Airtable only wants to copy the cells over and over, not sequence them. Is there a work around either as a number field or a text field to get what I want?

I have built and re-built this inventory base so many times and I’m beyond frustrated. I know there is a simple solution to this. Looking for some help. We work with employers to provide company cars as an employee benefit. For each employer there are multiple employees For each employee there can be multiple cars For each car we charge a series of monthly payments I’m trying to setup AirTable so that when I select an employer and month, I can output an invoice with the relevant monthly payments. I’ve done the first steps: Set up an employers table that links multiple employees per employer Set up an employees table that links multiple cars per employee Set up a monthly payments table that links cars to a series of payments by month I’m struggling with the final step where I want to set the employer and month and output the total payments, so that I can create an invoice. My business charges a monthly subscription fee throughout the life an an agreement. For example, someone signs an agreement to participate from 06/01/2020 to 12/31/2021 and they pay $500 per month. I am new to AirTable. I have the monthly amount they are paying associated with the client and I have the start date of the agreement and the end date of the agreement. I need to be able to create a table or a view that shows me the total revenue for all clients for a given time period (i.e. revenue every month into the future). Is this possible? Darby

I am currently trying to figure out if this is possible: Under the single select option for Community, is it possible to set up conditional logic that automatically populates another column with either “remote” or “rural” depending on which community was selected? So far, we have been populating this column manually, but I would love to know if it can be automated. Thank you!

So I essential have data that I need to organize is like this: developer | plugin name | software key [or] license file [or] iLok registration code what I want is to have a multiple selection for what software I own by each developer. EG: Column 1 (developer): iZotope Column 2 (plugins owned) multiple selection: Ozone 9 advanced, Neutron 3 advanced, Vocal Synth, RX 8 Standard These options will not exist in row 2 because row 2 will be a different developer who does not make these plugins. I was wondering about the best ways of implementing capacity planning to a base, provided with fields for effort level, and start and end dates for each project. ex. Tables: Employees - contains data on employees Projects - contains data on projects occurring throughout the year(s) Assignments - contains data which assigns an employee, to a project, for a period of time, with a specified amount of effort on that project. An employee can be assigned to multiple projects, and project can have have multiple employees working on it. The important data is the effort level, since the idea is to have an employee achieve 100% effort across multiple projects (ex. 25% on 4 different projects will sum to 100%). So I have Airtable to keep track of my expansive puzzle collection over 300 puzzles works great I love it! But I wanted to get my dad to start using it for his car shop like what needs done to this car that car does this need updated inspection on said car but would also want a reminder sent to him or a notification from Airtable saying that (inspection shop) is closing in 30 minutes and then once you tick off the inspection for the car it doesn’t give you the notification anymore? Does that make sense? TLDR; I’m basically asking if there’s a reminders system implemented into Airtable?

I’ve seen a lot of topics and/or feature requests to hide tables within a base. I want that as well. But on top of that, I don’t see topics here about hiding view items that you’ve actually created, not just those created and made personal view by other users. I’m not referring to how to toggle on and off the Views pane. I mean the different views that you’ve created, whether they be Grid, Form, Calendar, Gallery or Kanban, can they be hidden to declutter the Views pane, or better yet, maybe have the ability to group them in folders? I have created several views of the same table and they somehow already cluttered by Views pane. I don’t want to delete them because I have certain use for each of them.

Hi - we’re trying to develop an Applicant Tracking System for our applicants. However most of them usually apply to multiple roles. The basic ATS template now - only works best if they apply for one role. We would like to track easily - which roles they have applied for, and the feedback that they have gotten for each of the different roles. And when I click on a role, I want to see who has applied, and the feedback for that specific role. Is there a good way to structure our database? The only way I can think of is to have each job as a different tab - which will not work, because we have quite a lot of roles… Thank you so much :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi all. I am trying to get my head around creating a base for employee Starters, Movers & Leavers listings at my employer as a way to get Airtable into the business. After a couple of years of trying to get my boss to say yes, he finally agreed to my implementing a trial, so it’s important that I get this right! The current situation is that an Excel spreadsheet is prepared by HR and it consists of a single sheet with disparate information (columns) contained on it. I have attached an anonymised screenshot of part of a mock-up of it herewith. I have created a base with a table that contains all the spreadsheet fields and then created Views for each section of the spreadsheet, which just show the relevant fields (unused fields are hidden). Hello, I am switching over from Smartsheet to Airtable currently and am curious if anyone has an idea of how to create what I am calling “Header Rows” per the attached image. We are looking to categorize work based on what is happening today and still see the other rows that have work for the next few days. We also split our workflow into multiple teams and ultimately want to see it this way. To complicate things, we track work statuses and typically split them into each team on the sheet - the idea being we can schedule each team independently of each other. The attached image, where i have the kinds of header rows I am talking about (see “MONITORING VISITS”, “RED TEAM TODAY”, “GREEN TEAM TODAY”, “WHITE TEAM TODAY”, AND “ZERO / SPECIALS - UPCOMING” rows) is what I a ultimately looking to do. Hi All! My team uses a base for scheduling trainings, including course code, instructor, and staff assignment. In our scheduling table, we have 1 record for each class, grouped by week. However, for classes that span more that 1 week, our team likes to have another record displayed for the following week(s). Ex: Course ABC is running over 2 weeks, we create 2 records, one for each week that the course spans. (I’m sure this isn’t best practice, but our team likes to have stand-ups to review the upcoming week, including any courses that are continuing from the week prior.) Problem is that we keep a lot of data tied to each course (enrollment, financials, etc.) that currently needs to be manually copied into the 2nd or 3rd week of any multi-week class. Any ideas/thoughts on how to automatically create another record for week 2/3 of a class, ideally with the ability to inherit the data from the week 1 record (ongoing), so we wouldn’t need to input the same data across 2-3

I have a simple table (See below). I want to create a Leaderboard that shows each team and their total score across several quizzes in order from Highest to lowest total. I am not sure if my initial setup is the best. I know I can group by the Team and it will give me the total score but there is no way (that I know of) to sort by the Total Score. I don’t have experience using a Rollup and can’t figure out how to set up the second table to gather the needed info. Does anyone know of a good app that will take my AirTable result and make a pretty leaderboard that I can embed on a website and automatically update as new data comes into AirTable,

Anybody has issues recording video into Airtable attachment form? I’m not sure if iOS or Android mobile device can directly record a video into Airtable app, but I couldn’t find a way of doing it. It just doesn’t work for me, when I start the camera app, it doesn’t allow video recording, the video recording button is disabled on Android and it’s not present on iOS. Is there anything I need to change in my settings? Anyhow, I looked for a workaround and I noticed recording video into Airtable can be done using the Web Form of your base. Create a form out of your table and include the Attachment fields. Then create public sharing link to the form and access that link on your mobile device browser. I use Edge browser, but should also work on any full feature browser such as Firefox or Chome, but it doesn’t work on strip down browsers like Via, Dolphin Zero or Opera Lite. When you click on the attachment field in the form, the phone presents you with the option to
