Base Design

Availability to Zapier, Integromat, Airtable, and Jot Form. Have one base which is a form that creates questions in field entries onto the base. Could I connect that base with some roundabout way to make a form that’s sent with the questions that are in the base fields as a question, to the customer that’s linked for them to answer to and reply to?

As i’m discovering more and more about the potential of automations and apps in Airtable, i’ve recently come up with a project idea that I think Airtable can handle with the proper setup. Basically I would like to create an automated jobcenter where individuals could signup through a form where they input a certain amount of variables (which area they live in, what type of company they want to work for etc.). Parallel to this, companies can select their own criteria as well as location and create new job opportunities with similar criteria. What I’m trying to achieve in terms of automation is that the match of several criteria (location+type of job) between individuals and jobs would result in a notification email sent to the individual to alert them of a new job matching their criteria. I’m rolling up a list of quantities, and need to determine which quantity was the most recently ordered. I have a separate Rollup field on the same table identifying the most recent date, but I need to be able to set the value of the filter on quantity rollup to only show the quantity when the production date matches the date I have in the second rollup field. Is there a way to set the value of a filter to match a field value? Cheers, AK

Hi folks, I am attempting to do what the title says. I made an example that demonstrates the type of setup I’d like have, viewable here: My First Workspace I made separate bases for attendees (names) and events (date+location), and synced the sole “Attendees” table (the list of names) as a new table in the “Event Attendance” base so that I can manually add each person to an event as an attendee. However, what I cannot figure out how to do is to have those date+location attendance instances transfer over to each attendee’s record in my list of attendees (the “Attendees” base). It’s called TextileWeightKey and it looks like this: In case the picture doesn’t load, the important columns in this key table are WeightCode (the primary key), MinWeight, and MaxWeight. The first record has the values L1, 0, and 33.9 respectively. The second record has the values L2, 33.9 and 67.8, and so on. These represent different classes of textile weights. All of the L1 class textiles will weigh between 0 and 33.9 grams per square meter (gsm), all of the L2 class textiles will weight between 33.9 and 67.8 gsm, and so on. How do I get contacts to automatically link to a company in Company table if the company name matches a name in the Contacts table

I’m a newbie so this may be a dumb question. I’m building a To Do list. I’d like the primary field to be a Single Select for category (priority to do, shopping list, normal to do, etc.). Since Single Select is not available for the primary field I thought of using a formula that would simple be the name of my category field. This works, but duplicates data in the category field leading to confusion. I thought about hiding the primary field, but this also is not allowed. I then thought of auto number, but this too is not allowed. I tried the function record id. It works, but what it returns is confusing and meaningless to the casual user. Can someone suggest a better way? Thanks

Hi Folks - Somewhat new to Airtable but have done deep dive and feel pretty good about how things work. I am developing a grant application processing Base that is pretty complicated. One of the necessary evils is long primary fields. Like 25-50 chars. We maybe be able to trim them in the future, but becuse the primary field is so important in Airtable (ie, card headers, text that displays for linked field values, etc etc), it has to be real and not a numerical code etc. My main primary field is like this: 2020-059 - ABC - Smith Tract - Big River State Park. It has been creating all types of issues on import, commas were an issue until I killed them (easy fix) and then creation of “quotation marks” around primary link fields in other tables as I turn primary key links on and off in working on getting the base made. ANYWAY - i had a corruption issue occur where additional spaces got inserted in the primary field, evidently where the key got wrapped in a given

I am seeing odd behavior with Link to another Record when it come to Commas. If I have a comma , in a Single line text field then copy the field and paste it into another Single line text field I get a comma , as you would expect. But if I have a comma , in a Link to another record field it is displayed as a comma , but when I copy it and paste it into a Single line text field the result is a comma surrounded by double quotes “,”. Or if the value of the Link to another record field is used in a formula it returns a “,” instead of , Any idea why and if there is a way to fix this?

Hello I am trying to implement in airtable, the control of sales that are made live in order to: Know what product and quantity ordered by each customer To be able to have control of the status of the client’s order. The way I solved it is a lot of manual work since I register for each product ordered by the customer (see image) What I don’t know how to do is, how can I register a single product, associate it with all the customers who buy that product (so far it’s simple) but how can I control what each one asked for? So, I have read a number of posts about this topic and am still confounded. Basically, this feature is not working at all for me. I thought it worked when I initiated it, but perhaps just missed the fact that it wasn’t narrowing records at all. My two use cases that are important to my schema that is a very complex grant application review process: EDIT - I see that is says record selection and that indeed ability to select new records is limited to a view. So is this a feature request for Limit display of records to a view for Linked Record View? Basically a rollup that is a live link to the record? Is there any other way to do this? Hello, I have a large collection of community resources for trans and non-binary people, organized with several tags and categories. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to share this with the community at large. If I share a read-only link, it can be confusing for newcomers. Even with a base description pop-up that explains how to use it, that won’t help a return visitor who forgot what it said on their first visit. They may not visit very often. I would love to embed the airtable on my webpage (on Wix), but the frame for the embed is not nearly wide enough. At that point, there’s so much side-to-side scrolling that it’s obtuse and even more confusing to use. What’s the best way to make this base widely available AND easy to access? I know that’s not the assumed application of Airtable bases. Thanks for your help!

I work as a help desk tech support rep for a college. I answer phone calls and emails to help students, faculty and staff. I was looking for ways to build a wiki documentation and possibly a flowchart: (1) The wiki documentation would be for someone needing to know about the school help desk position if I wasn’t there to teach them. By the time they read up on the wiki documentation they would know everything possible to perform the job. Yes, I understand Airtable is more of a database but maybe the information it holds in teaching documentation could work to the viewer. (2) The college has many departments that are in charge of different things. For example, questions about software would go to a particular group on campus and so on. The flowchart would be for connecting these questions: "I have this problem, who do I go to for this or what’s the next step in accomplishing this?” Again, I have an understanding of what Airtable does but though it could work. Hi - I run a subscription business in which members pay monthly based on 3-, 6-, or 12-month contracts, and each has a pay-in-full or monthly option. I’m looking to build a base that will track their payments by month so I can know how much future revenue is expected each month. I’d like to know the specific date the payment is due as well as the amount due and whether it’s been paid. Thank you!

I was surprised not find any documentation on how to move a table to another base in a workspace. Is this not a supported function? I realize I can export and reimport but that is clunky and I expected a built in option for this.

I’m trying to build an inventory table and there’s just a small detail that I cannot figure out… It’s easy to use a rollout field to add and substract items, but we monthly manually count the inventory and update any differences… how would you do that? I have a form where staff inputs product sales and buys, including a checkbox to mark that the quantity is not to be added/substracted but it’s the current inventory level. Any clues? Hi folks! I have a table that lists some projects, with a field for the people working on that project. This is linked to a table of people. I’m trying to figure out how I could capture the work individual people do on individual projects (eg. Person 1 spends 50% of his time on Project A, and 50% on Project B, Person 2 spends 100% of her time on Project B). The project column in the people table shows all the projects on one line. Would appreciate any guidance you can offer. (I come from a SQL background but struggling to get my head around how to do this in Airtable. Thank you for being patient!)

Hello, We now use Airtable for free to administer the articles for our magazine. However, we now intend to market the magazine electronically using airtable pro. After payment, a member or collaborator will receive a read-only invitation whereby he or she, depending on the membership, will be given the choice to access these topics and / or volumes for one or more subjects and / or one or more years. In other words, he or she can only access certain parts of the workspace. Can that be achieved with a Pro version?

Good afternoon, I am wondering if there is a way to copy all the fields from one table into multiple tables in the same project. For example: I have multiple stores in each state. So each state will be its own table. I want the fields (the top row) to be the same for each state. In a excel spread sheet I can copy the top row and past it into additional sheets in the workbook. Is there a way to do that in Airtable. I hope i explained that correctly. Thanks so much.

I’d like to make a filterByFormula API request within Airtable to return a list array of record IDs that match my query based on the field inputs in a record from a separate table. Ideas? It’s similar to the Vlookup discussion.

I am creating a base that has 4 different tables. ‘Books,’ ‘Authors,’ ‘Themes,’ and ‘Quotes.’ I want all of these tables to be linked. My current issue is with the ‘Quote’ and ‘Theme’ table. When I enter a new quote, I enter the book, author, and theme. When I go to the ‘theme’ table, it shows the quote but is not linking with the ‘Book’ and ‘Author’ tables, meaning that I have to go in and manually add the book and author in the ‘Theme’ table. Why does this information not transfer from the initial entry on the quote table? Thanks in advance for the assistance! -Erin

Hi Airtable community, I have a basic table for my content calendar base. In the simple table, I am categorizing each article we publish by Genre using the Single Select feature. I need to figure out a percentage formula that breaks down the total number of articles by genre and reflected in a percentage breakdown. In other words, I’d like a column that list, for example, 20% Rock Articles, 50% Rap Articles, 20% Pop articles. Here’s how I have my table set up now. Any suggestions now how I should begin this?
