We are using look-ups to make a table of contents for building a website. The look-up is bringing in the data, separated by commas which is great. The one thing that we cannot figure out, is how to adjust the sort order. This is the sort order from the source table (desired)- and this is the order that it is being presented in… We have tried to edit different lines to see if the modified data plays a role, not able to find any documentation on this.
Hello, I’m comfortable with spreadsheets… not so much with databases. So, here’s my dilemma: I have a base with 49 records (names of people is the primary field) - 27 people exiting the program from last year and 22 returning to continue service. There are 18 tables and 31 fields. This year (which begins August 2020) I also need to know monthly performance (a number) for each person in 5 categories. Not being able to link tables across bases makes me reluctant to build a new base BUT it seems like I need a lot of new tables and/or fields… 22 (people) X 12 (months) X 5 (categories). And I will need ‘end of year’ performance reports. I can easily do this in a spreadsheet but I would like to try to use AirTable. Suggestions please.
Hi! I’m using AirTable as a deal flow management platform for a fund and had two quick questions I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to: I created a company intake form for potential portfolio companies that works great, except for the “Contacts” part it only allows for us to populate from contacts in the existing Contacts tab or to just write something in. Is there any way for someone to fill out the Contacts part of the form and for it to populate in a different tab than the form is for? Is there a way to give people just viewing/editing permissions for specific records? For example, if we have people who are part of the deal team for some companies and not for others only letting them see those specific ones. Hope that makes sense - thanks so much!
If I want my records for a social media calendar to be different colors (say, different for Facebook, Twitter, IG) what plan do I need? The pricing list only mentions color in the PRO level, but it’s a bit vague. Thanks!
Hi, I was adding Automations to a base, and it says “This base already has the maximum number of automations.” I have not read about this problem anywhere else. Is there any way to increase the max number of automations? I need about 10 more automations. Thanks.
There should be a very simple way to detect a duplicate number upon entry of a record. For example, we have a field called Object ID. It contains numbers like MI20, T14, AI34. This is the unique identifier field so we can’t have duplicates. How do I set this up? Also, when I view this as a form I no longer get the field description that I set up in grid view.
Any help on where I can find help would be great. Is there a “fiver” for airtable?
Dear Airtable Community, I am trying to edit a formula with IF to make it capture the conditions of two or more fields. I have two fields that are either empty or not empty. This is the formula I am using for one field and it works just fine: IF({Constancia}, TRUE(), FALSE()) How can I edit this formula to have it work for two or more fields? I am new to Airtable so please spell it out for me. (sorry) I thank you in advance of your help with this question. Rob
Hi everyone, I’m a newbie and starting to understand how Airtable works. But I have a question I can’t seem to figure out. I’ve read through a few similar posts/answers but not exactly matching up to what I need. I have two base tables: users and jobs. Both of these tables can grow infinitely. I need to associate users with jobs conditionally. Because both users and jobs will continue to grow, having an association column in either table isn’t the most efficient way to approach this. Instead, I simply want to select users and jobs where ‘x’ & ‘y’ conditions are met and insert that data into a third table. That way, my app can point back to the third table. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hello Community! How are you? My name is Federico and I am having a question about the bases. I have a big base where there are 5 tables inside. I need to change one of the column so I can create a new base to add the CRM. The question is: I have the column that says “Name” and i want to change the first column to a formula and then concatenate the name and surname. The link will be the same name but changes the field to a formula instead of the short desc. This table is connected to a table that give course to all the clients orders. Can I change the range of a register without changing the linked record with another base? If I change the row that is linked to another table, it will crush? I will be waiting for an answer!
Hello. I’ve only been using AirTable for a few weeks now so bare with me. I am setting up a grid that has certain dates entered along with other information for law cases. If I put a date into one cell, can 2 the other date entry cells automatically fill in with futures dates based on the first date that is entered. For example, if I enter in 9/1/2020 in one cell, can the next date cell automatically fill in with a date 6 months in the future and then based off that 2nd date, have a third cell fill in with a date 10 days later? I’m sure there is a formula perhaps but I’m unaware after doing some searching. Thank you very much for your time.
Hello folks, I have an existing base that has a line item table, vendor table and product table. I need a total for each invoice along with vendor information for importation to QuickBooks, but am having problems figuring out a relatively simple way to do this. In the line item table I enter an invoice number from written invoice pads that we are using for our farmer vendors who don’t have any sort of record keeping system. If I group by invoice # I can see an invoice total, but without the vendor lookup data. I tried creating an Invoice table with a lookup to the line items table and a rollup summing the subtotals, but it only brings in one line item rather than all with that invoice #, and if I add a lookup to invoices from line items, it brings in multiple copies of the vendor data, which I guess is one problem of having vendor data as lookups in the line item table, maybe that’s a many-to-many problem. I was looking at an example of an invoice base posted by @AlliAlosa, but in that
Hello! I am designing a receipt submission base where people can submit their receipts as an attachment while filling out the form. I’ve got it setup to email me whenever the form is submitted. The challenge I have is that the email that is generated includes all of the form information except the attachment. Is there anyway to get the email to include the attachment so I don’t need to log in, download the receipt, etc.? I would love to be able to forward that email, with attached receipt and all, directly to my accounting software. Thanks, Nathan
Hi all, I am using Airtable as the database backend for translations to an app I have built. Basically, ever column is a string for text that I then link to in the app. While 500 columns is generous, it is limiting my freedom to design the app since there are more than 500 strings that need to be indexed in the app. My ideal solution would be for there to be a paid solution that would allow me to go beyond 500 columns, but that doesn’t seem to exist. Otherwise, my ideas are: Use the 500 lines more efficiently. I have been doing this but am running out of low hanging fruit, 500 strings is not such a high limitation when you consider the amount of text in an app Link Airtable databases together, where the user would select a Translation database 1 for the first 500 strings then a Translation database 2 for the next 500 strings, but this is a bit ugly for the users. I haven’t figured out a way to auto populate the second database of the selection of the first database, I feel like th
I have a “citation” field for my “article” record, an article may refer to several citations, e.g. Book A, p.57 and Book B, p.327. Obviously I also have a “Books” table with book name and published year, author etc. But I don’t know how to associate “page number” easily with the selected book. Must I create another table linking Article, Book and page number? This would be the obvious way in traditional database design and you would create a UI to simplify the book/page number selection. However in Airtable it would be a multi-step process for the user: select Citation field, create Add+, select the book, add page number, then close the book-page record, then close again. Could this process be simplified so the user only has to select the book and add page number in one action?
I have seen this question remain unanswered twice (@Jeremy_Oglesby @Benoit_Champy) - and I think I found a workaround what I think is either a “bug” or an “oversight” by the Airtable team. Some animated GIF images cannot be displayed. Airtiable gives us this error message: I found that if a GIF contains an Alpha Channel, Airtable won’t display it. If there is no Alpha Channel, the preview works. Now the question is, how do you create GIFs without an Alpha Channel? My simple os X app won’t allow me to ditch it. A ton of GIFs you find on the web have Alpha Channel on by default, even though it’s not being used (and please excuse my typos on the file names… ) UPDATE: I got a small “Alpha on” GIF to work. So what I wrote above is not a workaround.
Let’s say that there are 2 customers: A and HA. I have this “customer” field as a linked field to a text field on another “CUSTOMER” table (one to one - each item belongs to 1 customer only). To filter out items for customer “HA” is fine with condition: “customer” contains “HA”. However, filter out customer “A” with condition “customer” contains “A” does not work as “HA” still contains A" and it shows all items for both clients. The filter does not show other options like “is”, “=” and very limited to just a few as in the image. Thank you in advance for any input!
Does anyone have a basic share portfolio management base they would be willing to share?
I would like to use Airtable as a productivity tool (task/project management and idea storage), any suggestions?
I’m having a hard time understanding how I might convert these excel sheets to Airtable sheets. I have a series of months along the X-axis, a series of things to track on the Y-axis. It seems Airtable works on a per-record basis, so this Excel sheet would turn into a boatload of records, or am I missing something?
When I link to a Base with a “RATING” (Little Hearts) to create a viewable, duplicate column in another base, it only allows the field to show up as integers in various forms. No Hearts. It doesn’t make sense as I’ve been able to pull over logos from other fields, is RATING just broken?
Hi - I am a new software engineering student and my school has turned us on to Airtable … an excellent resource for building some viable back-ends! Question: my table only has 200 rows, plain to see. But, the Over limits tag appears at the top. When I click it, I am taken to a dash that says my base has 1,226 / 1,200 records and I should upgrade. What gives? Is it counting records that maybe were once created and deleted since? I ask because I had done some batch posts/deletes earlier. I can’t find any indication that the record count would include prior deletions…and it would be a funny way to account for data, so I don’t think that’s it. Please help before I lose access to my (modestly-sized) trial data! Best, Sean
Hi All, I used the searching function at some diamond work. The range of my diamond carat is from like 0.30 to 0.39. When i search 0.3, it should be listing out all 0.3 related ranging from 0.3 to 0.39. However, when i search 0.3, it only showed me 0.30 and some 0.31 records, NONE OF THE REST. Is it the problem of my setting? Or is it the bug? Thanks, Skyler
Hi all I have a social enterprise that make beanies on a buy one, give one model helping people in need and helping ease isolation for seniors . The seniors knit beanies in groups around the country and they get to share their skills, chat with friends and make beanies for those in need. Beanies are sold online at www.makegivelive.com (shopify site) and the orders are pushed through to airtable. The structure of the orders table is like this (but transposed)… Product SKU | BobbieBeanieAdultCream Sales Last 3 Months | 19 Sales Last 30 days | 2 In Stock | 4 In Production | 0 Ideal Stock | 10 Orders | 3 To Make | 9 (Orders + Ideal Stock) - (In Stock + In Production) Allocated | 0 Balance | 0 The beanies that need to be made (To Make column), can be allocated to one of 11 groups around the country:- Birkenhead Browns Bay Central CC Day CC EVE CC Lincoln Hamilton Howick Riverhead Taupo WGP In the example above, there are 9 BobbieB
Hi, I’m developing a relatively simple app using the API, and I’m stuck on one thing - passing back the value of one field (Link to Another Record) when it contains more than one item. So here’s the use case. I have a list of items, all of which have one or more tags. Via the API, I’m adding to that list of items and adding tags to the item. If I pass back a single tag, it’s no problem. If I pass back a list of tags, only the first tag ends up in Airtable. If I pass back the list of tags as text, it shows up as a new single tag. Is there a syntax that I can use to format the contents of that field that will result in two linked items in the Tag field? Is this confusing? It feels confusing. Thanks, Ryan
