Base Design

Hi I’ve experienced trouble receiving forms from others. It’s happened twice - someone submits a form and receives the post-submission message, but then the record doesn’t show up in the base. Nor do I receive an email notification. It doesn’t happen all the time though. Most of the time it’s working alright. I was wondering what went wrong? I’m based in China and I use VPN, but those submitting the forms probably don’t. Don’t know if that’s relevant or not. Thanks in advance for your answer!

Hi there! I am a public speaker, and I would like to use Airtable to track my “gigs”, from point of interest until they are complete. This will help me track documents and vital things I forget due to the long time frames this involves. One thing I am struggling with is that Gig start days and times are inconsistent. Meaning, I may do a full-day workshop for an organization, and that’s easy. But sometimes they want me to do two workshops, or smaller trainings split into multiple days but they are all part of a series. Currently, I have to add each day/time in as a separate Gig, which makes me cringe because they are NOT separate, but rather nested as part of the overall gig. I would like to not have to use multiple tables for this–is that even possible? Any ideas on how I can lay this out?

I have a table with a date and numeric field. It tracks a water meter reading. Is there any way that I can calculate usage by taking the current record meter reading and comparing the difference between that and the previous records meter reading then calculating the number of days difference between the current and previous record to come up with a litres usage per day? I tried searching the forum but could not find what I am attempting to do. My objective is to create a Case Study and Employee Resume master database. My goal is to be able to select an employee, select a project that the employee worked on, and then receive an output that shows that employees resume description for that project. I’m stuck on how to achieve this in Airtable. I am a new Airtable user. I set up the account on a browser, logging in with google. When asked for access to my contacts, I of course rejected that and was going to create the account with an e-mail only but when I clicked back I was offered the option of proceeding without giving access to my contacts. Happy, I selected that option, registered and created a project. Now I would like to see what it looks like on mobile but I cannot log in to the mobile airtable app without granting access to contacts. How can I proceed? Note: The contacts are not needed for this application, so they are not appropriate data for Airtable to have.

Hello, I am using AirTable for my plumbing company workflow. My base is currently set up with a table for Jobs (each record is a single job with info like data requested, job status, plumber, revenue, etc) and a linked table for Plumbers. I would like to be able to produce summary reports by week & month. For example, I would like to calculate the revenue generated by plumber for each week into a new record. This way I can summarize with a bar chart showing totally weekly revenue over time with a breakdown by plumber. In Excel, I would do this by creating a new Summary tab. It would have a table with Plumber Name across the columns and Week Of across the rows. I would SumIf with two arguments (date within a range and plumber name). It would have a final column totally revenue across all plumbers for each week. I could use this data to create various graphs. How can I recreate this summary in AirTable?

Hi there! I’m new to Airtable and trying to find the most efficient way to group individual freelance talent by discipline (Editors, Animators, Directors, Etc.) in GRID view within my base design. I’m finding the “group” or “filter” features to be confusing and sensitive - I’m not able to clearly find a solve for this & greatly appreciate any help!

I have a base listing all services made for my clients, in which i put data like the material used, date of service, price, invoice number, etc. There are 12 tables in this base, one for each month. What i want to do is create a 13rd table linked to all the others, grouped by clients in kanban view. So, let’s say i’ve installed a CCTV câmera for Mr. X in january and switched this camera to a modern one in december, those 2 services will be in the specifc tables (Jan/20 and Dec/20) but i want see all services i’ve made for Mr. X in the 13rd table. Might be an easy one but i’m really struggling with this now. Thanks for the patience with the bad english, by the way.

Hi, Just trying out Airtable as an alternative to Notion. So far so good, however there is an issue for me in Safari (v13.1.1, on macOS) in that I cannot scroll my table at all (horizontally or vertically). The same table works perfectly in Chrome on the same machine. Let me know how I can provide more details (i.e. a private link to the table if it helps support) Thanks - Ian.

Hi, I’m wanting to create a table with functionality such that: The “Name” of session Making Software is classified by “Topic” and “Subtopic”. Now, “Topic” is a linked to a list of records in the Topic table: This is pretty straightforward. And you can see that the Topic table links to a Subtopic table, with subtopics for each topic. When creating Sessions, I’d like to: Create a new Session record and specify the name (e.g. Making Software) Then select one of the Topics for that record (e.g. Computers) And then when I go to Subtopic for the Session … only subtopics for the topic are displayed and selectable (i.e. Apple & Windows

Dear Friends, I have a Sales Table: Which provides data such as the start date of an Installment, Commission Rates, and “Invoices Table” calculates the Commission Invoice Amount Payable at the time the Invoices are Created MINUS any Previous Invoices Paid. Hello! I have 2 tables - “product” and “supplier” These tables are related: in the table “product” I see the supplier, in the table “supplier” I see what goods he has. When I am in the “supplier” table and click delete product, only the relationship between the tables is deleted. There are no changes to the “product” table. How to make it possible to remove goods from the table “supplier”? To remove not only the relationship between the tables, but also goods from the “product” table.

I have a pro table where I’ve built a form. I’ll be having people outside of my organization fill out the form for an approval. I’ll need to provide feedback to the information in the form. What is the best way to provide feedback to folks that aren’t in the organization if I have a pro-base?

Having made great strides towards putting my law library onto AT, I am wondering whether my way of keywording is as efficient as it could be. I have discovered that for my purposes Group works best on a single keyword. So I have a field labelled ‘Subject’ - (A) - which is customised to multiple select in which I have added as I go the paricular topic. For example, Alienation. Alongside, I have a field label Keywords - (B) - also customised to multiple select in which I have added as I go the particular keywords: For example: Assignment, Underlease, Sub-let, Consent, Unreasonable. So far so good? But I am wondering whether there is an easy (novice) way to have a single field which would still limit Group to the first keyword but avoid situations, for example, where the keyword would be the same as the subject or where I’m unsure which field to use for a particular keyword. I got the tables as follow: Table 1: Product Name, Product Category Table 2: Item Name, Product Name I would like the Product Name in Table 2 to link to Product Name in Table 1, with condition where the Product Category is A. Can I know how to set the condition for that?

I’m looking for guidance on how to best design this in Airtable. I’m building a base to track vehicles and their maintenance records. Each vehicle needs to have an inspection every X weeks, and ideally this should be a row in an inspection table in order to store the date it was done, any slippage, and upload relevant paperwork. What would be a good way to design this? I think I’ll probably need a Zapier or Integromat integration to run regularly to go through each asset and create the inspection rows with due dates of every X weeks. This to me seems a bit messy and presents more questions; how far in the future would you want to create planned inspections for? How often would you run the task? What would happen if a vehicle is added or deleted? Or if inspections need to be re-planned? Any advice would be appreciated.

I am using Airtable to keep a back log and then a new table within the base for each sprint. Has anyone used Airtable for sprints and are there any best practice? What is the best way to move a record from the backlog table to the current sprint?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I’ve been wracking my brain for the past week, trying to figure out how I can calculate my teams hours spent on a particular job type. I’ve imported our teams hours from our time tracking software via CSV file. Right now, I have the items grouped by Client > Project. I’ve filtered by “Project contains > web” Within is also how many hours were spent on that job. These groups are able to tell me the sum of all the hours, per group. What I need to know now, is how to calculate the average amount of time spent on a certain job type, for example, “web design”. Like I said, been trying this for quite a while, with no results. Any help is much appreciated.

First time I’ve used airtable. It;s the free version. I have 2 tables Customers Assets There is a common unique ID in both tables - so I assume I can use this to link them. However when I try and change the ID by customize field type to link to another record the other table isn’t an option. Thanks for any assistance Phil

I am going to be using Airtable for project management. I have currently populated my records by importing a CSV file (containing all current projects with their fields), but I am trying to plan ahead for when new records are added. Is there a way to IMPORT a single record into an existing table? Or can I only input things into a table manually once it’s been created?

Hello, I am the Office Manager of an apartment building with 100+ suites. I have been moving the company into the 21st Century with Airtable and eliminating some paper that is being used. However, I have multiple bases and some items are becoming redundant. I am wondering if it is possible to have one base that not only shows tenant information (phone number, name, suite number, parking, storage locker etc.) but also the condition of each unit and the renos that are being completed. In other words, I want to see a “portrait” view (big picture of everything) of the suites as well as a snap shot (brief glance of what suites have new flooring, which need complete renos when vacant, when was paint done, new installations of sinks / taps / tubs / toilets). My one base contains the tables for tenants and the snap shot, and I have another base (Facilities Management) for the big picture with maintenance and facilities tables. I’m noticing that when using Lookup fields to gather all the text from various related text fields, the output in the lookup field separates each of the resulting contents with a comma automatically. Here’s the situation: 1 - Contacts table contains a link to Interactions table. 2 - Each Interaction contains text meeting notes, which are concatenated in a separate field with the date of the meeting and a line break at the end. 3 - The Contacts table in turn has a lookup field which brings back all of those concatenated results, so that I can pull up a contact in gallery view and see something like this in their notes field: 2-22-2015: Met for first time at her office, talked about our basic services. , 4-18-2017: Met with her whole team to set up launch. So that comma in front of the 4 isn’t a type-o in this message; rather it’s the output I’m getting. Can I get that to go away?
