Base Design

Hello, I am very new to airtable so I don’t know if my question makes any kind of sense. I hope that you will bear with me. I make bath & Body products. So far I have 3 tables with their related fields Ingredients: Name, #Amount/PU (PU= Packaging Unit, e.g. 128 oz), $ Price/PU (e.g. $38), Fx Unit cost (per oz of material: Price/PU :heavy_division_sign: Amount/PU). I entered all the raw materials I use in my products in the Ingredients table, with their Amount/PU Price/PU. Products: Here is where I am having a problem. Below are the fields: Name ( e.g. Body lotion), Ingredient 1 (Jojoba Oil - Linked to records from ingredients, I don’t know how to type the symbol), #Amount/PU, $ Price/PU, #AMT (Amount used in batch), Fx Cost of AMT {AMT 1}*{Price/PU 1}/{Amount/PU 1}. I have these fields for all the ingredients used in the body lotion.

Hi there! i am using airtable to collect and manage various data and as a rudimentary CRM. however, i wonder: is airtable really up to the task to serve as a CRM? i really like it for the quick data entry and possibility to quickly expand and adapt. yet, i have the feeling airtable is not good enough to serve as a real CRM. for example: i want to use it on my android phone to call contacts. i don’t think it’s very user-friendly so i was thinking to link it with google contacts (as i’m working extensively in the google ecosystem with GSuite for Business). however, linking airtable to external tools is very limited it seems, at least without coding custom api integration. notably i am using Zapier but i find there is a huge lack of triggers (as compared to google sheets): i can only push data from airtable to google contacts, and this only ONE TIME (either when a record is created, or when it shows up in a specific view) and i cannot UPDATE datasets, i.e. contacts in Goo

Hey all, I have a big base. 44,740 records. This thing is slow! Searching / scanning a barcode via mobile phone almost halts the app. Desktop experience isn’t much better. Smaller bases works alright. Is it just me? anything I can do or is it a server issue?

Hi Everyone! I am trying to figure out how to autopopulate a linked table. I currenly have table 1 linked to table 2, but every time I add a new record into table 1 I have to go to table 2, create a new record, and link the record from table 1. There must be a way to organise this so that anything created in table 1 automatically populates linked tables, but I can’t figure out how to do this! Any guidance would be great.

Hello, I have a table to track “back up” task that need to be recorded everyday. So basically, after each back up the staff need to open air table and filled in some data. I use created time to track the time the task is created and the proper workflow is to do this task daily. Now I like to have an automated flow: At 7:00 pm, run a check on “back up” table, If there is a new record for that day, do nothing If there is no new record for that day, send and email to some body I can use Zapier to send email for each new record in AirTable, but in this case it’s another way around. I haven’t find an Zapier command that could check current date and find a matching date on AirrTable, that is the basic to config such an Zap. Any help is much appreciated. Viet Anh

Hi everyone, I’m in charge of finances at a company that has 50+ bank accounts across structures & countries. I do a daily check of balances on a very simple spreadsheet. I basically have 30 columns with previous day data and enter the new daily balance. I’ve always thought AirTable would be a much nicer way to deal with this (as I can group by currency, country, bank, structure for instance). However, updating a record - imo, these should be individual bank accounts - on a daily basis seems to be a struggle. I can think of workarounds such as duplicating records & filtering in a different view ; or creating a separate table with all the raw data and using lookups … but this seems an overkill for something so basic. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi! I’m relatively new to Airtable. I’ve set up a form that can be shared with non-Airtable users, enabling them to submit program ideas for our organization. They submit ideas for programs using the form, populating our database. After the submission deadline, I would love to make the gallery view available to another group of non-Airtable users, and have them rate each of the submitted ideas (1-5 star rating) OR link records from the database of submitted idea to a form that enables users to rate each record. Any advice out there?

I’m routinely linking a record from another table to match text in another field. Is there a way to do this fast/automatically? For example, we have an Invoices table, with data that we import from our invoicing software, Harvest. From the imported data, we have a text field with client names. We then link the client names in a linked record field to client records, which live in another table. One of us has to do this manually, each month. Is there a way to use a formula or some other function to return a record from another table if it matches the text in another field or return something like '[NO MATCH]" if there’s no matching record in the other table.

Hello, I will try to make it as simple as possible: We are in the Property management industry, where rent amount is calculated based on the latest value of an index of a given quarter. A rent has a base quarter (Q1 or Q2 or Q3 or Q4) at year N which is used for the calculation of this new rent. When the new “base” quarter index is published (at N+1) then the rent value is updated. Indexes, in general, are updated on a quarterly basis (and are roughly 2 quarters behind based on today’s date). There are 4 indexes, each rent uses only one of them. The index value usually goes up but can go down (in a economy slow-down situation). My challenge is to automatically calculate the new value of a rent when it’s base quarter index is updated at N+1. Hi everyone, I’m new to Airtable and before I get too far populating my Airtable base, I was hoping to solicit advice on how to set it up as well as possible. I am watching raw footage for my documentary film and logging it. Basically the data I have is: time code, logging notes, thematic tags. When I create a link from one base to another, I rename the Field to something appropriate. In this case, I have the base Building and the base Character. When I create a Linked field named Owner of Building in Building, I just get a field in Character named Building. Is there a way to maintain the unique naming I have between the two bases, WITHOUT manually having to change it on both bases?

Can someone help me write a simple formula for the following problem? I have a 3 column table. First column is the date, second column is the # of cases. 3rd column is the increase % of cases. I simply want to take today’s case value and find the increase from yesterday’s. How do I reference yesterday’s cases? How can I write a formula like this? ((todayCases - yesterdayCases) / yesterdayCases) * 100

We want to automatically import all the entries and corresponding fields for leads that have either “Check” toggled in one field, or “Probably” entered in another field. Is this possible? I want to use Air table to to track questions and answer among my team. I want all team members to be able to ask questions, answer the questions, and see the answers. Which template can I use for that and are there instructions?

I have a table for tasks and a table for completed tasks. Once a task is completed I want to move it to the completed tasks table but I cant seem to do this without duplicating the whole table again! Please help

Starting to tinker with Airtable, and I’m liking a number of the features so far. I’m setting up a set of bases for my small business; project tracking, expenses/income, etc. My plan was to create “master” customer and vendor tables (in a single base) that could be shared across bases, instead of having a single base with a dozen or more tabs, but it seems linked fields can only be to other tables within the same base(?) I’ve worked with databases for years, and it is possible to link to a table/field in a whole separate database in those instances, but it doesn’t seem possible in Airtable(?) Am I missing something? Hi all, I’m wondering if Airtable is a good fit for managing our student share flat expenses. Currently we use icloud numbers, to enter raw values and show, but it is cumbersome and manual. This is what I have in mind: People Table: All people are stored here and cross referenced. Sometimes people move in and out, or go away for holiday, so don’t need to pay power bill for example. Powerbill Table: Our powerbill is calculated everyday automatically. We have an app which shows how much power was used for each day and input into the airtable. For each day I can enter the $ value of a day. This is then divided into payees of two sorts, heat users, non-hear users, depending on if you use electric blanket that day. The issue I have right now is that I do not know how to tie that back to the person, as an outstanding fee. Thanks for following through that and hopefully it wasn’t too confusing or abstract. I work for a company that delivers services to private and domestic clients I currently have two bases set up. One which lists ‘People’ Base 1 One which lists ‘Companies’ Base 2 In both bases are examples of clients. i.e. we may work for Acme Ltd (Company) or Mrs Smith (Person). However the companies base is not exclusively clients (it also includes supplier etc) and the contacts base isn’t exclusively clients (also includes people who work for companies) Is there a way I can pull companies labelled as clients and individuals labelled as clients into a new base called clients?

Hi there, I currently manage a student organisation at my university and every year members have to renew their memberships to remain an active member of the club (this is university policy). I chose to use airtable as it is an easy way to allow students to register for the club through airtable forms and the integration with mailchimp is very convenient. At this stage, I’m trying to figure out a way that I can email students a link to an airtable form that allows them to reaffiliate and for the information to be updated on the membership table automatically. At this stage I have made another table called ‘Reaffiliation’ with a form that allows them to select their student ID from a linked record and click a checkbox to reaffiliate. Ideally, I would like the checked box to be reflected in a column called ‘Reaffiliated’ on the ‘Members’ table making it easy for me to create a view that allows me to see all of the active members so I can send that information to m

We are using a different weekly excel sheet for our projects in our company. Could this be implemented ? The main difference is i need to create daily fields to edit the current status on that day It looks like a gantt chart with editabe date status fields… Every week our company edits this excel for the next week/every week… Can i make st. like this ? Hi, I don’t believe my requirement is all that complex, but I’m having difficulty understanding how to work out what relationships are need in order to build a suitable base. I have multiple projects in progress. Each project is supplied by a selected list of suppliers, not every supplier on every project. I would like to track projects to the point where they complete, at which time I then invoice for commission. Some projects may have early quotes associated with them from each of their suppliers. This seems like it should be a standard thing to be doing - common practice in my industry, so is there a template base that would immediately suit this requirement? Or do I have to build one from scratch? Many thanks Dave
