I’m fairly new to Airtable, so thank you for the help. I want users to be able to sort information based on a geographical region. The geographic region is comprised of postcodes. My table #1 only has postcode entries, and I have another table #2 that defines which postcode is assigned to which region. Can i get my table #1 with postcodes to autofill region based on the information in table #2
Hello all, I’ve gone from knowing nothing about Airtable to feeling I have a grasp of the main principles. I am building an ever more complicated database that has moved into the daunting complexities of off shore financing. Upto now I have around 10 tables that handle People, Business names, addresses etc. Till recently I thought a (2 way) linked relationship between people and businesses (in different tables) would work well but now I need the same 2 way link between different businesses. At the moment I have one table for all businesses and knowing the exponential growth in data Im not sure how best to move forward and still maintain the 2 way link philosophy. I thought to start adding more tables to create a hierarchy of businesses but that seems too much. I also thought about trying to use lookups but can’t figure out how that would work. I tried a script that auto populates (children) linked fields based on the columns you point the script at but its not really ideal either. Any
In our airtable we have an employee tab and each employee can have multiple state licenses or memberships they belong to. Someone set up our employees to as duplicates for each state but the employee should be just one entry and the multiple licenses under that one entry. Can someone give some advice on the best way to accomplish this? Should it be a data entry field for each license? See attached.
I have a companies table and a contacts table. For each company, I would like to identify their Technical Contact and Business Contact in 2 fields. I have linked fields from the Companies table to the Contacts table, but there are also 2 backlink fields in the Contacts table which I think will confuse my users. Is there a cleaner way of doing this so there aren’t 2 Company fields in the Contacts table?
Hello, I created an base for my employees to fill their weekly reports through an Airtable form. and under the name field, I put a drop down list of all of their names. I can see who filled the form, but how can I know who didn’t fill it without the need to go over them name by name and manually cross check? Thanks in advance.
It took me a while to troubleshoot, but it seems to come down to commas. When I sort by a lookup field, if a row has a comma anywhere in it, it sorts first, despite what it starts with. In the original table they sort like this: 01 item 02 item 03 item 04 item, item But if that field is the lookup and is sorted, it goes like: 04 item, item 01 item 02 item 03 item Is this a bug or am I missing something?
I upgraded my account to Pro, but my forms aren’t giving me access to Pro features. Help!
I am trying to create what our firm calls a resource tracker within one note. What this resource tracker does is allows the project manager to input the number of weeks a resource type is needed for each project for each month. The distribution of weeks needed for different resources varies from project to project, and not all resources are used on all projects. The goal is to take a long distance look at all projects in the pipeline versus current resources and confirm hiring needs and/or additional work needs. We have an excel spreadsheet that works right now, but it’s not connected to any of our other data, and it is also VERY static in terms of being able to expand resources and/or projects. I’ve started creating this in my current base, but I am concerned I’m heading down an unsustainable path. Any suggestion on how to make this a little more dynamic? Specifically, we want to have a 2-year look ahead. In order for that to happen, I need to add a new column and update my fo
Hey everyone, I’m creating a service where my clients can list three good things everyday and splitting each client by a different subdomain where they can only see their own contributions. I’m doing this using different tables. I want to create one master table, which automatically consolidates all the rows from other tables rather than me copying and pasting. Does anyone know if/how this is possible? Thanks, Gary
Hello, I’m trying to make a formula that automatically copies the first/top option of a multi-select field to the primary field of that record. Is this possible? Any help is much appreciated, Frank
Hi All - I’m looking for recommendations on base designs to track productivity (will use for daily and weekly rollups) and a base to track client deliverables. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Hello I have many projects with several tasks over several days. I can regroup by project and put my tasks on different lines, to be able to assign a specific date to them. Except that when I do that I no longer have the possibility to expand record and see all my tasks for the project. If I group all the tasks on a single line, I can see them when I expand record but I can no longer assign specific dates to the tasks! If you have a solution thank you for your help! I can send pictures to understand if necessary
I want to build a database for a specific purpose and am struggling to think through the theory behind it. I need to record names and contact information for a list of people. Each person will also be assigned to a group, with its own information. Each person will also have a record of activities completed for each month. Later, I would then like to visualize trends and averages for activities completed for a given group or individual. Can anyone tell me hoe they might layout their database to achieve these results?
Hi all. I currently on Pro plan and trying to build an event registration system and can’t seem to achieve what I want in my event registration form. In the event registration form, I can fill in my personal details and register as an individual participant, a group or a company. If I select a group or company, I would like to be able to enter personal details of multiple participants (including myself). What would be the best way to do this? Please do recommend other form-builder tools e.g. jotform, typeform, formstack etc which is able to achieve my use case. The integration I am using is zapier/integromat. Thanks!
How do I reset the data in a template so the story_id starts from zero? When I delete all the records in a template that is provided (after I create a base from a template), the story_id for a new record starts after the last known story_id number. I want to start my new template starting from a record ID of 1 (not 22) The example in question is for the Agile Template.
I constructed a database in FileMaker Pro many years ago to hold information about the many recordings my band has made over the years. I’m looking for an alternative to this platform, and only just now learned of Airtable. There are two features of FileMaker Pro that are used in this database, and I need to know whether Airtable has equivalent features. The first is repeating fields. The record for each song we’ve recorded has a repeating field which lists “who plays what” on the song for all six members of our band. The second feature in question is container fields. In this database, each record has a container field that links to a .wav recording of the song in question. Note that this uses FileMaker’s “store a reference to” feature. That is, the .wav file is not contained within the database; rather, this field links to the recording, which is stored on the hard drive, outside of the database. Does Airtable have the capability of replicating these two features? Thanks in advance f
Hi, i have a few tables that have a basic structure that look something like this: Student Table: Full Name (PK) (Formula type created from First Name and Last Name) First Name Last Name Address Phone Number Email School Name Guardian Name Agreement Document Staff Table: Full Name (PK) (Formula type created from First Name and Last Name) First Name Last Name Address Phone Number Email Trainings Employee Function
Hi folks, Question for you: Can the lock function to used on a column with the “field type” as attachment? What I would like to do is be able to upload the attachment, but not have others be able to download the attachment i have uploaded. Is there a way to do this?
I am new to relational databases in general My goal is comparing reports of what are supposed to be the same items, but will occasionally have small (and sometimes large) errors. Because the reports come from 3 different locations, each one is already slightly different, but they each have a Serial Number field and an Object ID field. Those are what are most important to me What I’m trying to be able to do is have a table where I can plug in my Serial Numbers and see what each report says their Objected ID is, so if they are mismatched, I can see that easily. I know this seems straight forward, but I’ve been trying to use linked records and Lookup…and it keeps messing up.
Hi, I am new to Airtable and am trying to create a form for data entry (for people to sign up to receive information). One of the items that they are agreeing to is that they have read our privacy policy before submitting their information. I would like to provide a link on the words “privacy policy” to our website’s privacy policy page, but I can’t find a way to do that. Is that an option within forms? Thanks, Shannon
I’m trying to create a kanban view, but every time I try to actually use it it keeps asking me for a new grouping field.
Hello, I tried to find the answer on the community forum but couldn’t. My objective is to follow a large number of marketing campaigns. And to create a view comparing which one makes the more money. Some are PPC, some are Email, some are phone campaigns … Each of them has his own KPI PPC : traffic / captures / Sales Emails : send / clic / demo / sales Phone : dial / reach / demo … My idea is to create 1 table per campaign. On the campaign tables, each row is a week… Each field of the campaigns table will be specific to the campaign. And at the end of the raw would be entered the total sale per week. That’s the only field that can be compared in between all tables. I am trying to create a summary table. This would be the synthesis of all sales, to understand which campaigns are performing the most. My idea is to create a field « Sales » in the synthesis table. For each campaign (so each raw) that would automatically be filled in by the total sales of the week (or even better, of
I have a looong list of clients*. Each client has several unique envelopes. In each envelope there can be multiple unique items. So the only relation I can see is [one envelope] <- [item A] [item B] [item C]. Please advice me what structure should I build to make it compact, and so I don’t have to create new table for each new client. *) it’s not bragging :slightly_smiling_face:
Hello! I’m new to Airtable and I’m still learning it. I manly use it to keep track of my Games Backlog and Collection and Meds Cabinet. :slightly_smiling_face: For the Games Backlog I’m using a template I found in the Universe section and I was wondering how can I get the left navigation menu to show on my Base ? I can’t upload the screenshot here Thank You! Mihai
Hi everyone. I have a huge problem. I made ma data base using multiple options in a list, with a date for the choosen selection in the list. Problem is, I figured out now that I need to have one different record for each option selected in the list. So I have to create as many records that there are options selected in the list. And I have do to so for around 150 records … For exemple : the record 1 | Banana, Apple, Orange, Kiwi | 02/04/2020 have to become 1 | Banana | 02/04/2020 2 | Apple | 02/04/2020 3 | Orange | 02/04/2020 4 | Kiwi | 02/04/2020 Please, tell me there is a solution to my problem …
