Base Design

Hello! the view bar that is supposed to be at the top of the airtable page, in particular such options as “hide fields”, “filter”, “group”, “sort”, “color” etc do not appear on my airtable app when using on my laptop. Same time, option to customise fields with the same above mentioned functions (filter, sort, hide field etc) as well do not show along with the dropdown arrow which is usually located next to the field title and is the way to see list of the above functions. Is there any way how to restore those options/functions and get the view bar with all the fucntions? thanks a lot in advance for help!

I am using fixed for my rescheduling logic for date dependencies in my project management base. The primary reason I am using fixed is I need to be able to create buffers between dependent tasks (i.e. tasks with predecessors). Let's say task A is request a copy of bill from provider and task B is review bill.  I know that task A takes minimal time so I set it to start today and give it a duration of 1 day. Task B is also pretty straightforward and takes one day so I also set its duration for one day BUT it takes up to 30 days to receive a copy of the bill and it's out of our control so I want task b to start 30 days after task A ends. In the timeline view addressing this is pretty simple. I have a table of transactions with a date, the date is formatted in dd/mm/yyyy.I want to import more transactions from a CSV, the CSV is also formatted in dd/mm/yyyy.Simple import right? Wrong!On the import mapping page, the CSV data is being picked up as mm/dd/yyyy even though nothing in my base is in that format. As a result it's confusing the dates and losing half of them.The only way I can make this work, is to change the date field to a single line text, import the data, then change it back to a date in dd/mm/yyyy.Am I missing something or is this a bug?Pics:My table:My CSV file:The import page:

Hi all - here’s my set up: Table 1 - [3 designs] with [multiple components each] Table 2 - [many interview questions] each tagged with [a specific design component] and [one of 3 interview guide types] In Table 1, I link to the interview questions for each component. This is great! I can see which interview questions have been developed for each component. In Table 1, I also want to include which guides the component is tested in. If I add the lookup, it repeats the guide name for every single question. This gives me a set of ~10 “Student” tags and ~10 “Advisor” tags - I really just want to know which of the 3 guide options (student, advisor, instructor) each component is tested in. Is this possible?

I have a table that uses a form to enter meeting information including who was there (linked field to another table). If I need to add new people to the people table through the meeting form, is there a way to do that?

Using Airtable to do staffing plans. Basically we have [Projects] which have [Phases], which in turn have [Staffing Needs] which [People] can then be assigned to ([Assignments]). For reasons, the duration of a Phase can vary from a month up to a year. This means for some projects a single person may be have 12 separate assignments -- this allows us to have the specific workload/allocation someone is putting towards an assignment vary month over month (e.g. John is working on Project Airtable with 10% of his time in January, 15% in March, 5% in April, etc.)A critical interface is a Project view where we can look at an individual project and see all the people working on it.I have been able to do this using Timeline views easily, and also with a bit of regex magic to select a project and a specific month and get a list of individuals and their allocation for that one month. But what I really want is a list/grid view that is each per

Hi,I’m trying to update our CRM’s product listing with upgradeable pricing. The current structure is simple, one record per product, with price as one of the fields. Customer orders are directly linked to products sold.Now we need to update prices. The challenge becomes that if we just update the existing products’ prices, historical data such as value of sold product would change, and any reports would change totally.I have seen in similar systems that products may have Valid From and Valid To fields for prices. Or perhaps for the whole product record, I’m not sure.Testing this concept I’m able to build a logic that tests if a product price is valid TODAY. I guess I could duplicate the whole price list, and use some “Valid today?” formula to determine which product to link to an order. I need to enter a record with additional spaces in a text string of a column (single line text) . Whenever I add the text string ‘a b’, the system sets the text string to ‘a b’. How can I prevent that spaces are being removed. Thanks Jan

Good afternoon (UK). I’ve just signed up for a year of Pro. I am surveyor dealing with commercial property and much of work overlaps with that of a lawyer. I’m not new to database design, having been using Filemaker for years (but only in flat form, not relational). Currently I use Clio (law practice but I’m finding it slows me up) and a combination of Devonthink Pro 3 and Scrivener for my law library. I am planning on using AirTable for my law library and for task management (client contacts, etc, property info, etc. I have added a couple of templates to get a rough idea. I have 2 questions. Would it be better to have a separate base for my law library or does it matter if one base contains dozens of tables? Where a field is for a person’s name, is it better to have two fields, one for first name, the other for surname, or one field only. tia

My son has just had major surgery and is now home to recover after a very close call and 2 weeks in hospital. He is on a heavy medication regime and I need to do blood pressure, oxygen levels and heart rate recordings. Wondering where to start with a base where I can just go to one section to fill in what I do at any one time. Such as7.30am, Med 1 + Med 3 + Oxygen level1.30pm, Med 2 + Med 4 + Blood Pressure readingAnd then have it all show up for easy access for the doctors. I have the following challenge in airtable:I have 3 bases and tables:Catalog: Products, Categories, GroupsInventory: Products (synced with the products table from Catalog), purchase orders, purchase order itemsOrders: Sales Orders, Sales Orders Items, Products (synced with the products table from Catalog)In inventory, In the table "Products" I'm calculating the available inventory based on the Purchase Order Items quantities in a column called "Available QTY", but my issue is: how can I add a column called "Sold QTY" which sums the product quantities from the table "Sales Order Items" from the base "Orders"?When I sync the sales order items into Inventory, the issue is that makes me sync also the Products table from Orders base. So I end up syncing 2 times the products table in the inventory base and the rollup doesn't work because each table is referencing different synced "Product" tables

hi Airtable users!I have a question regarding custom selection of Lookup Field Values in Linked Records.I have 2 tables (A and B). I setup a Linked Field and then 2 lookup fields in table A. This pulls in a Group name Category names from B.Now in Table A, I'd like to manually choose a specific Categories (based on categories from the lookup field).  The steps I'm trying: I choose a group (in the linked field), and then choose categories manually... but I can only see how to show ALL categories in the lookup field OR categories that meet certain conditions. But this is not what I want... I want to choose only specific categories, which vary for each record. There are no conditions for this.How would I do this? Maybe there is a formula?  Please help!How can I choose specific values based on a lookup field?Thank you

In many other systems you have an "Edit" button. Until you click the "edit" button, the data is read only. Adding this basic feature would solve A LOT of problems using Airtable. Each and every grid (and maybe other views) should have the now famous Airtable slide switch: Locked or Unlocked. (A nice touch would be a green border around the entire page for unlocked, red for locked.) This would allowing sorting, grouping, filtering etc. and working with the data w/o accidentally changing  the data, something that has happened to us more than once.   

Does Airtable provide the access control, if we want to control read and write access at screen and components level?Means if there are 10 fields on one screen and we want to give edit access for only one field to one person and give edit access for all fields on the same screen to another person

I don't know if it is possible.. we know that on excel we can have live data and refresh the table to include the new data. And we know that we can link an excel file to airtable and export the data on it.So my question is can we create a dynamic airtable table that refresh every time I refresh the excel file?I don't know if it is something impossible.. I'm looking for a way to customize the Fields, and their order, that appear in an Expanded Record's preview cards for that Linked Field.It seems Random, or customizable?  I know in a normal grid view, I can specify the Linked Record field to use a specific view, and set the order in that view...but that doesn't seem to affect the expanded record's preview cardanyone have experience solving this? 

Hello,I'm wondering if there's a workaround to import data into linked fields. For example, I'm importing monthly salary information to a data table and the employee name corresponds to the primary field of a different table. Airtable only imports the non-linked fields.Would it be possible to import the employee name as a different field then run a script to create the linked record ? Or any other ideas will be appreciated.Thanks,Mark 

Hello, I manage two different teams - Team A & Team B. Both of these teams have their own separate base with their own projects. How I capture all of their projects into one grid table without having to do manual entry? I would like to have them sync together since their projects can associate with eachother.

Hi there! We are trying to move our corporate budget tracking to Airtable. As an example, say we have $400 to spend, the sum of the rate would need to be subtracted from $400 ongoingly. Do you have any ideas on how to best do this without manually subtracting the sum from $400 every time?

Hi all!My team and I are using Airtable to store user research as we build out and iterate on different products within our org. One of our goals is creating a repository to reference research participants we've spoken with in the past to contact them more easily for future research. The goal of this base is two-fold: the first being a structured pool of participants to pull from, and the second is a collision map to make sure we're not pulling the same participant for several different projects and overloading them. Our project teams often aren't aware of who the other team is recruiting for research and this has happened a few times. In the participant repository base, my setup so far is 3 tabs, 1)Ongoing projects and their timelines, 2) Our staff members and 3)The participant database.
