I am really enjoying the new Interface feature in Airtable which is making it more accessible for updating records via a form. There are some feedback I have that would make it more accessible using the JAWS Screen Reader. Making it easier to delete a related record item without having to open it in a separate window (the x on the top right isn’t accessible right now) Date Picker causing some navigation issues where it would skip to the final form question Data in fields need to be better described such as the type of field it represents (ie. number, drop down list, etc.) I hope we can make the Interfaces feature more accessible since it’s still in the Beta form.
Hey! I’m so happy with Interfaces and it’s wonderful that this product FINALLY happened. The ability to create/duplicate/delete linked records from the linked grid interface - would be a game changer for me. I’d love to know that this is on the roadmap. Thanks!
Hi all, not sure if I’m doing something wrong here or if it’s a bug… I have a base table with a list of sales orders and I’m trying to create a chart in my interface summing up all sales in monthly buckets. Initially creating the chart defaults to counting records and I get a bar chart as you would expect. BUT when I switch to SUM by the field containing my sales values I get a blank graph. Do my settings look right? Am I doing something right or could this be a bug?
The problem: long details page loses name of record’s subject On an interface page that shows record details for a person (say), if there are more fields than be displayed on one page, user will be required to scroll and scrolling will cause the name of the record to scroll up and out of view. Requested solution Would be extremely useful to have a Header option for interface pages. (As far as I can tell, there is no Header option at the moment.) Workaround I’m using At top of the page is a sort of title area that shows the name of the record (+ client# and status). Below that, I’ve divided the page into sections. Each section has a heading. To the right of each section heading, I repeat the name of the record. See screen capture below. The arrows are intended to show that the record name (“Lyndon Johnson”) gets repeated below and continues to get repeated below and offscreen if user scrolls further down to new sections. This is not a perfect workaround. If a section is tall enough
Long text fields, in particular, need to be adjustable in terms of height in pixels or line height. It’s very claustrophobic to write long text in a field that only allows you to display 3 lines of text. Also, I already have that constraint in the default record detail view.
Please, add a “Crop or Fit” for the for the Thumbnail at the Record List’s preferences.Right now, it crops all images. Thank you!
I want to incorporate our interface into our company’s kiosk. The idea is that there is airtable record of all the clients on our waitlist, and clients can come in to our office lobby go to the kiosk, and look themselves up, without seeing anyone else. So they would fill in their first name, last name, birth date (each corresponding to columns on my table) and it will either show a result if there is one or not. Is this possible?
When I added to the interface a field that is linked to other table it allows to link to multiple records but this field in the base is set to allow only 1 record. Bug?
Just tried the new Interfaces. It seems that the Text field is limited in vertical size? It expands to multiple different widths, but seems limited to about 9 lines of standard sized text. For us, the big advantage of Interfaces would be to create custom data entry layouts for a given table. Variable width is nice, variable length is just as important. Thanks.
Interface designer… In record view, when clicking a project the modal window pops up. Nice looking but would really need to be able to move fields up and down as well as remove / add them. Not all fields are always needed.
Here’s a wishlist item for interfaces — having them be more integrated with my base so that I can easily jump from an interface view to an ordinary table view. Maybe being able to add an interface as a tab along with the tables? Or being able to put quick-links from the interface to some commonly used tables I might want to jump to? I really love interfaces
Hi there - we’d like to create specific interfaces that our contractors can use to update their personal availability and view their ongoing contracts without being able to see information about the other contractors. We have one base with information about all of our contractors and have shared specific views with each of them so they can only see their info. Is there a way to share an interface view with a specific user or will they have access to all views?
Since Bill French’s prediction 268 days ago, I opened every day my AIRTABLE Community window hoping that it would appear in flashing golden letters. As the October 2021 Airtable news was less numerous than the previous months, I told myself that the day I hoped for was perhaps very close: something exceptional could appear in November! Party! It finally happened! Historical AIRTABLE’s VIEWs: In my modest opinion, I presume that the AIRTABLE VIEW which is a major attraction of the platform must have existed from its first weeks of public life, at least long before 2019, (august 2019 when I had finally found what I was looking for without finding it : AIRTABLE ! in an article dedicated to another theme : Document As An App.) But from where I stand, the historical VIEW seems to have been designed and built in such a way that it has always resisted to be managed, to be manipulated by any Scripting API and that it was not designed to match one day Bill FRENCH’s prediction of being offered a
Hi, this is a feature request. I think it would be great if (the first) filtered result would be auto-selected in the ‘Record view’ Interface template. In the template we have a filter. The results of the filtered are shown in the ‘Record list’ element. When you select a result, it’s details are shown on the rest of the screen. The problem arises when you change what you have already filtered and been viewing. You have filtered something, viewed it, then you change the filter… but the record being shown remains the same. Take it from me this confuses users + it’s not really necessary for the record to remain beingshown on the screen. I mean, if the user decides to filter something else, they probably don’t want to view the old record anymore. If you work for Airtable, read this, and are confused, I can make a video to demonstrate this.
Liking it so far but: Will the interfaces be available on mobile? So many of us use AirTable on our phone’s primarily. Do they work on the desktop app or only browsers? Will button fields work? If you use the comment field and someone gets notified, is there any way to make the link in the notification go to the interface instead of the table? Can we create records in the interface? Any list of future enhancements?
I love that new Current User variable, but I can’t find a way to take advantage of it because my interface filter criteria isn’t on a collaborator field but instead is on a formula field that determines the “current owner” of a task based on a set of criteria (the output always matches collaborator names). Maybe could set up an automation to set a new collaborator field to match the formula field, but that feels clunky and unreliable, if it’s possible at all. Any ideas?
Using Interface Designer, you can create interfaces right from your Airtable bases, no code required (IN BETA). To learn more about using this feature, read our support articles . To ask questions about using Interface Designer, post in the Interface Designer community category.
