I’m trying to use Airtable Automations to an update to a single select field that I use for status on my records. I cannot see a way to tell my automation to change the value in this field to one of the pre-defined possible values for my status field, so I tell it to just use the name of one of my values. The Automation then creates an entirely new status for my single select filed, with that name, so I wind up with a duplicate value in my single select field, and the record status is set to that duplicate value with an identical name, rather than to my desired value. This means that my downstream automations triggered from that desired status do not fire, because the record is set to some new status which is completely separate, even though it has the same name. How can I make my automation update the single select field value to one of my predefined possible values?

Perhaps I am just completely missing something but I have been attempting to set up an automated outlook email to send certain notifications to some of our customers. Most of the formatting I have been able to find in the link provided in the automation on Airtable’s markdown syntax. The only thing I am struggling with is line breaks. The documentation states that “Every line break will be treated as a hard line break”. When I test out the email by sending it to myself, I notice, that everything, regardless of how many line breaks I manually put in to the preview, comes out with only a single line break. From the Transaction Type: Order >Item ID field I would like to add this ID # to the Transaction Type: Shipping label >Item ID And pretty much do the same thing by updating the Transaction ID fields that are empty in the Shipping Label and Other Fee row, with the Transaction ID# that is in the Order Row.

Due to the current lack of granular access for field locking, I am looking for a way to access data in a field BEFORE it is updated, to compare the original value with the newly entered value - to lock out changes. The goal is to block modification to values based on the current date (lock out “old” records). What I’m doing now is saving the original data into an extra field in that table upon initial entry, then if that record is updated (using a view limiting records to prior dates), calling a script that checks the date, and if it’s before the current date, compares the original field’s value to the new field’s entered value in the DB, and then resets the new value back to the stored original value. It’s cumbersome and slow, but it does work. If there was an easier method to either “lock” a field based on a date, or to access previously-stored data for a field (i.e. history), then it would take fewer steps.

Hey Airtable community, I am worried about something, i have an automation system, that send an email to a contact when i upload an attachment (invoice) to a record. It works juste great but i did a lot of test, and i reached the limit of automations. It’s not a big deal so i have sent the mails with the invoice by hand. I’ve looked into the automation and it looks like that. Problem is im worried that the next month when the automation countdown will return back to 0, it will resend the mail from the previous month. Does anybody knows if it can do that ? I don’t want my clients to receive and old invoice randomly… Thanks :winking_face:

I’m trying to create an Automation which triggers when a new record is created (Trigger:When a Record is Created), and I want to use a date field from that record as the search criteria to find another record in another table (Action: Find Records). However it looks like the only dynamic content I can use as search criteria is Record ID. Is there any way around this using Automations? Or do I need to learn how to script… :slightly_smiling_face:

(Marked red in the picture) If it’s value is “Vinos” then launch a webhook. How would you do it? I can get the record id, launch the webhook, but I’m not able of checking the value of the field. I’m trying to create a waitlist automation, where it’ll send an email to a person when the date they want is available. I have a form view set up, and a table where all the submissions go. Within the same base is a table where reservations are, I want to create an automation that looks up the dates in the waitlist table and if any of those dates are free, it will email the person connected to that record. Seems like it should be easy, but I’m not seeing it that way. Does anyone have any insights?

A issue is we could not post message to MS teams channel with Automations. Currently we are trying to use Automation of message posting to MS Teams. Currently we connected to teams API with company system admin account, and every user account could show teams Group, but Channel could not be shown in dropdown list to be selected. Can you please advise the reason why channel list could not be shown, and how to show channel list with any further actions. Thank you for your kind advice!!

I have created an automation to send an email using Outlook. The pre-test is green on all triggers. However email does not arrive, nor is in the the junk folder, clutter folder, or spam folder. Newbie here … could really use some help.

Is there a way to rename a step in automation or to give it a pseudonym? This would be very handy for future editing. You could see what each block does, or is supposed to do and save you time from opening it and looking into what it does. It can still hold its original name, but can it have a label or something, saying finds record from such and such or calculates the average… Cheers

I would like to notify a group of people of a certain change in my base. As my company grows that could scale to quite a lot of people. How many email addresses can I have in the BCC email field? 100? More? Thanks!

I am wondering how to define which single select item to choose and populate to the field when creating a new record with such a field?

Hi, I’m trying to send out an email when an action takes place but its failing at the first step (ie. inserting the email address). I suspect that the issue is because I’m pulling the email value in from another Base / Lookup field and it’s not correctly bringing the email over into the automation. Thanks for any help!

I am passing in the id of a linked record from a trigger, and I want to add to a multi select. How can I use push() or get the existing values of the field and add to them? Hi there, I’m trying to debug an issue with the Airtable automation, but don’t know how to re-test the trigger as the instructions indicate (see image below). Apparently Airtable cannot email non-collaborators on my current billing plan, but the email recipient is the owner of the base, so I guess it’s a level up of a collaborator. What’s could be wrong with this automation? I’ve tested with other email records and it worked perfectly. Can anybody help? Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

I am having trouble with an automation from one table to another in what seems like a straight forward process. The automation is working perfectly for all fields except one. The “problem” source field is a single select with the options “Baseline”, “Follow-Up”, and “No”. The automation includes pulling various fields, including this one, into another table. Hi there! I’m having a problem linking records via an Automation. I have use-case in which there is a “Jobs” table and a “Receipt Submissions” table. Within Airtable, you can link multiple Receipt Sumbissions to a Job. Staff have their own online (“shared”) view of the Jobs table with a filter to show the jobs they are personally assigned to - each row of the table being a separate Job. Staff can click on a link on each record to submit a receipt for expenses they have incurred while doing the job via a form off the Receipts Submissions table. This link passes the Record ID of the Job via the form’s URL to the Receipt Submission form, which prepopulates the Job Record ID. My automation has a step which updates the newly created Receipt Submission record by setting the value of “Jobs” with the passed through Job Record ID. Hi! I’m trying to use Airtable Automations and running into difficulty when trying to update multiple records at once. I’m not entirely sure where the bug is coming from. Here’s what I’m trying to do… Table A contains several records for unique items that I’ve sold. Table B generates invoices pulling multiple records from Table A. When appropriate, I’d like to click a checkbox field on Table B that says “Client Paid Invoice,” which will then update all the unique records in Table A that have been paid for. I created an automation that triggers when a new record is created in Table A. It then creates a new record in table B with a unique ID from value A, and 3 other fields. IT ONLY WORKS WHEN I RIGHT CLICK AND DUPLICATE A RECORD. Any other time I add a record, nothing happens. Same with UPDATE, I modify the record in Table A, but nothing updates in Table B despite choosing the columns to monitor. I’m also making sure the fields to copy over have values in them. I seriously think it’s a major bug, making the automations for me completely useless. I’ve contacted support 3 times but no response.

Hey there, I’m not sure if this would be possible, but is there a way to take information from airtable and use it to fill in forms on other sites? I’m trying to set up a service where I offer to submit things to a list of websites for people (instead of having them do it manually themselves). I’d like to take submissions from my website, using an airtable form. Then take that information and fill out forms on other websites to submit those users. Not sure if there is any type of airtable integration/script for this or if I would need to use a combination of a script+zapier to make this work.

Hello the Best Community Ever!! Could you help me on my issue, please. Seems to be easy, but I spent hours on it without finding convenient solution. I use Zappier to collect some Client payment information from Payment tool to my Airtable. All the data collected arrive in my “Table1”. I have another Table, called “Table2”, with all general comments on my Clients. My need, is to check the “email” from my new record created in Table1 with the Client data base in my table2 to see if the Client is already in my Table1 or not. If not, I would like to add in Table2 the new email from Table1 and if yes, do nothing. I try to create an automation with “new record created” + “Find records” +“create records”, but when I test it, it works… but when I run it, it fails at “Find records” step. I don’t know if the automation is the right tool… Could you help me, please? Thanks a lot for your help!!! Damien
