Would it be possible for an automation to automatically flag a link as dead if possible? for example if a link returns a 404 would it be possible to embed code that detects that and flag it in the airtable?

I love the idea to finally have Airtable have it’s own automation system. What I would wish for is to have a webhook to send to IFTTT, Zapier, or Integromat. I know there is a developer section, but because you have to painstakingly search a particular record by just format, it’s not possible. The closest there is, is by using Gmail to send a email. There is scripts, but I don’t think it supports sending a record to a URL (yet). I would love to see webhooks in the automations in the near future.

Hi everyone! I’ve used Airtable at my previous companies, but am now trying to find a few ways to automate the manual data entry I’m doing. Example: Our company uses Airtable forms for our customer onboardings. Once a form is submitted, I would like for one of my Bases in Airtable to automatically populate the form that was submitted. This way, I don’t need to manually add the form everytime one is submitted. Is this possible?

Hi I have tried different 4 different techniques to partly duplicate a record:- Automation record in view Checkbox triggers automation when record appears filtered view (checkbox true) Creates record populating two fields, a datefield from source record and the value of a lookup field (I’ve also tried getting the lookup value from a formula field instead of directly from the lookup field) as per @Jeremy_Oglesby suggestion in another post. Automation record matches true As above Integromat Webhook triggered by record in view pass record id to integromat webhook search table for record id create new record with date and lookup value Integromat Webhook triggered by record matches As above All of them are now taking 30 seconds to execute!

I have a table in which users paste in the URL into a URL field, but they often paste in the wrong URL (https://example.com/edit/12345 is the right URL, and they paste in https://example.com/edit/12345#finished). I currently have a formula that replaces the cruft and puts it in a new field (SUBSTITUTE({Link},"#finished","")), but I’d rather use automation to update the field in place. Can someone help me with the script I need to run? Thanks!

Is there a way to send an automated email with all records added today?

Hello, I am building a matc hmaking app for jobs (offers and requests). I have two tables : first for job offers and second for profils in both tables i use many fields but 4 have same options (multi select). I would like to match those two tables based on the 4th fields, if all have same options then start an automation like email. Do i need an extrenat tool like parabola or it can be done inside airtable with linked tables for example ? How i can include data from a linked table automatically ? We have a list of vendors that will all need to complete certain steps before we consider them to be complete through our program. Each Vendor is submitted through a form by our internal team, and the vendor information lives in the “Vendor-Main View” tab. The Account Managers are then asked to copy all the checklist items from the “Master Checklist” (There are about 70) into the “Checklist” tab. The thought is that every vendor that comes in will each be unique, but the set of requirements to complete are the same for each vendor. Instead of copying the requirements from the Master Checklist, is there a way for me to create an automation so these requirements are created each time a new vendor is added to the Vendor-Main View tab?

I’m setting an automation to send a slack message using a lookup field (formatted as string). The automation doesn’t get the value from this lookup field. I get an error message saying “This property cannot be used right now” Has anyone hit the same issue or has something to add to help?

Is there a way via Automations-Update Record to set the Field value to a formula? I’m able to correctly set the trigger (tests successfully) and have set the Update Record Action to Record ID of the record(s) captured in the trigger. I can set my field output to a specific value (i.e. string for example), but I’m not seeing a way I can set the field update value to anything leveraging a formula. Is this currently supported does anyone know?

I created a JotForm which dumps data into an Airtable base, and I use automations to create one big table that has all the individual pieces in it. Hello, I am working on various automations for my use case, but don’t have previous experience with json or the airtable api. I’ve created a multi-step automation that relies on a couple of scripts to link fields in various tables. I am sure there is a cleaner way to do it, but overall it works when individual records are created. However, I have realized that when I batch upload a group of new records (as will be a likely use case moving forward) I run into a script error stating that the query for selectrecords has exceeded the max of 30. I would love some help figuring out how to modify the following script. I have two tables: Contacts; Companies When a new record is found in Contacts, it is supposed to search Companies and then create a link automatically if a matching record is found. I’ve created my first automation using the new Automations field in Airtable. I want to send an email when a record in a table is updated. The automation works – kind of. If I update the field, I do get an email. Well, that’s the problem. I don’t get “an” email. I get multiple emails. The field in question is a long-text note field. Editing the field to add a couple of sentences triggered seven or eight emails. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this feature not quite ready for prime time? I assume it’s me, but I don’t see what I’m doing wrong.

Hi all When using the automation with the trigger “when a record enters a view” and I start the automation, it always also sends an email to those records that are already in that view. Is there a way to avoid this and only send emails to records that come in to the view new, that is, after I started the automation? Shouldn’t be an option? I tried stopping the automation, then adding records to the view and then started it again, but same result. What am I missing here?

Super excited for AT to have the automations feature but I have run into a roadblock. I have an automation that I want to run and as part of it, I want to clear any data that may exist in a field. In Zapier you can do this with three spaces. Is there a way to do this in Automations?

I recently discovered Automation feature, and I would like to replace my many dozens of Zapier zaps. However, I am having trouble finding any documentation about it. There isn’t even a community tag for it! When I do any kind of search I come up with nothing. Anyway, I’m stuck in a couple of places, and I could use some help! I have a very large and kludgy Airtable base for my work that has Projects, People, Tasks, LineItems… over 30 tables, and the information is all connected, which is the purpose of Airtable! The most typical automation is to create a new linked record in several tables when a project is created. First I found a Script that would do this, and it works great when I click the button. So I copied the script into the Automation to be triggered automatically, and even though I’m passing in the RecordID using the config structures, I just can’t figure out how to make it work. I want to use the new Airtable Automation Update Record to update a single select field when it appears in a view. The field is a status field. I have an automation that emails the person on the ticket to have them schedule an appointment when it enters my Needs Appointment View. Would like to use update record automation as well to change the status from blank to sent email to schedule meeting status. When I attempt to set this up, I get invalid input error. Any ideas?

Hi there, I’m new to the community so apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong area. What I’m attempting to do is use the Automations function (next to blocks) to send an email when a new record enters an Airtable view: Trigger: When a record enters a view. Action: send an email. For the email address, I’m asking Airtable to lookup the email address from a linked record ValuesBy LinkedRecordId. When I select this, I receive the following error in red: ValuesByLinkedRecordId cannot be converted to a string When the action is changed to send a slack notification, that same email field shows a preview and appears in the body of the notification. I’ve tried changing the email field to short text, adding quote marks and commas, all unsuccessful. As a new user, I can’t attach screenshots to this topic. Hope this is enough info. DThanks

I have used different relational databases in the past, very new to Airtable. The solution I seek is to automatically lookup data from a large table matching the value of one field in a newly created record in a separate table. I tried using linked and lookup fields for this without success, cannot figure out how to make this work. Schema: 2 tables. Table 1 (inventory) has a list of all parts ordered for the project. One field is called “inventory number” populated with an alpha-numeric code. This table has a few thousand records. Table 2 (receiving) has a field for the scanned bar code, creation date-time, user, and “inventory number”. This table is only populated via the Airtable mobile app for the bar code scanning feature. Hi all, I am new to Airtable and using Airtable as a CRM and Transaction Manager (Started with the RE Transacting Mngmt Base Template). I am wanting a “Lead” automatically switch to a “Client” in ‘Single Select’ when I link to a transaction. I am also having trouble having Client Database automatically update with Transaction information when I select the client in a Linked Field in the “Transaction” record. Is there any way to accomplish either or both in Airtable. Thank you in advance for any help.
