Hi. I'm trying to figure out how to use a Lookup Field to update another record in the same table. This is a simplified version of the workflow to illustrate what I'm trying to do:I've got a number of records, called "Sequences." I need to define the relationship between them, and track which one comes next and which one comes before. In the image above, those relationship are defined manually. In the below image, I've replaced the manual versions with Lookups:What I'm seeking to do is this: when I specify the record for the Next Sequence, have that Sequence's record automatically update it's Previous Sequence field with the corresponding record. For example in the below image, in record Sequence 4, when setting Next Sequence to 5 - I'

I've got 3 tables - 1) Athlete, 2) Athlete Races and 3) Athlete Weekly Training Score. 1 is linked to 2 and 3, but 2 and 3 aren't linked. 3 is updated every week, with a new entry (score) per athlete each week.For any relevant entries in 2) (i.e. where the race date matches the date of their training score), I want to add the training score (from 3) into their race record (2)Is this possible with lookups? Or would it need to be an automation? I've tried both but can't quite get to the answer.Thanks in advance!

I'm designing my new base and I want to create unique Task ID's that are prefixed with a letter/number combo that links to the site the task is for so DE2 and HGE. The Task ID will auto-create every time I create a new recordFor example: Create New Record > Task ID is generated (DE2_000001)Can anyone help out? When I done this at a previous company it seems that there was a Field called Site Code that looked up to somewhere then the ID was generated u sing a formula

Hi All,I have three tables in my base:1) customers 2) venues 3) staff and I want to autogenerate a schedule which matches the customer criteria to the right venue and the right member of staff. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try to produce this? Bit of a noob when it comes to airtable but some experience of databases and a fundamental understanding of tables and forms etc. 

Hi All, We're in the medical field and we are currently setting up airtable to handle our inventories for multiple locations. We have set up our product lists, as well as the inventories for each location and we're currently in the process of utilizing the purchase order option.We can add from each manufacturer, and item, but we're currently stuck on being able to add a quantity for each item-for example, let's say we need a quantity of 100 for one item, and 500 for another, at this time we can only add a quantity for one item. Hello, I'm working on a new database and one of my tables includes various types of barcoding equipment.  Each record should have its own unique Serial Number, so I made Serial Number my Primary Field for that table.  I thought that, by default, the Primary Field always required unique values but I've just tried entering a duplicate S/N and it allowed the entry. How can I make sure my Primary Field doesn't allow for the same value to be entered more than once?

Whenever I change the order of fields in one view, I then have to change the sane view in other views one at a time.  (I know I don't have to, but I want to!). Is there a way to change the order of all fields in all views automatically?tia

I'd like to create a new table by importing from an excel worksheet. There will be 30+ fields and i want the single select options to be True and False.When i've tried to add the single select options manually as answers and then convert the field to be single select, it reverses the order. on my survey, i do not want the answers to be False and True, but True and False. Is there a way to do this without going through and manually changing every single field to single select and re-ordering the options for each one? thanks!

Dear Helpful People, I have one base ("Base A") set up to sync to a second base ("Base B") and it was working fine until about 20 hours ago. Base A has a multiselect field that isn't syncing properly to Base B. In Base A, the multiselect field is 100% filled, but Base B the field is only 44.44% filled. In Base A there are 9 options to choose from and it seems like Base B isn't displaying the data for the cells that only have one option selected...I'm truly at a loss for why this is happening and I'd greatly appreciate any insight. Thanks!Erica

I first started by using the org chart base template offered by Airtable to add my employee roster details and it spit out a beautiful org chart (parent relationship being manager to subordinate) - no complaints there.However, I now want to take this to the next level.I create a new tab on this base, where I listed events. On this tab, I linked employee names to specific events.I now want a separate org chart extension to populate with specifically the events they are assigned to. Parent relationship being Employee to Show Name.When I tried this myself, nothing populated. What am I doing wrong?Is anyone able to hop on a zoom with me and help me out?

I am building a CRM to track touches with individual contacts. While I have figured out how to set up a reminder to reach out to contact a certain amount of time after their most recent meeting, I am trying to figure out the best way to track/record all past meetings for that contact. I have it all on a spreadsheet right now to import but am struggling to figure out the best way to set up that data. Any suggestions?Thanks! Ariel

I have a CAMPAIGN tab where each record is a Campaign. For Example: May, June, July. Each record has a Channel field. that i populate from a linked tab called Channel Type)For example one record is: May marketing campaign and the channel field then lists three channels:  Direct Mail, Email and Social Post.I need PROJECTS tab that separates the Campaign and Channels into one record eachfor example; May Direct Mail,May Email,May Social PostI also have a Channel Type Template table that lists all the tasks involved with each channel type. I've seen a video on how to automatically generate the list of all tasks to populate based on the links using the Scripting Extension but in order for it to work you have to start with the list of individual PROJECTS, because the scriping app only allows a 1-1 linking... however, I prefer to build out the work in the CAMPAIGN table so i'm looking to see if i can create a reve

I created a new base in preparation for moving some spreadsheet data. Column 'A' of the sheet is dates.I'm thinking I can set the primary field as a 'date' field and include 'time' in order to make each record unique. After import (copy & paste) I can change the default time (12:00am) to 12:01am, 12:02am, etc. if there are multiple spreadsheet rows (records) with the same date.QUESTION: Is there a potential issue with having a dates in the Primary Field?

Is there a way to wrap the text in these blocks in Timeline view, so that i can actually read these tasks when they fall on a single day, without having to widen them and end up with even more endless side scrolling?I tried switching that field from single line to long in the Grid view, but that didn't accomplish anything.

Is there a way to hide options for a field? We no longer want users to be able to select these options but still keep the past records intact. For example an the field Responsible Party has as an option Vendor. Our company is not longer using vendors and we do not want users to see Vendor as an option. If we delete Vendor as an option from the field Responsible Party, Airtable removes vendor from all the records. We then loose that history. Is there a solution to this issue beside creating a new copy of the base.

My company has thousands of different contacts that we want to make a communication log for. The idea is two linked tables, an address book and a communication log. The issue is I don’t know a smooth and quick method to add new communications to the log without running into instance where duplicate contacts are created in Address Book.  how should I build it where employees are first tasked to see if the caller or email person is already in our system, and then, if not, create a new contact. BUT, if they somehow bypass that, delete or merge and duplicate contacts as needed in automation.  

My filer is not working as expected.  I am filtering on formula field.The goal is to hide paid charges and only show unpaid charges.  My filter is filtering on NOT = $0.00.  Showing pictures of file, results and the formula for the field.

I created a base on my own account and then my boss asked to move it to his owns because he has a pro account. How can I do this? We wanna put that one I did into a specific base that he already shared with me.I tryed the sync funcion but doesn't work for us because I cannot create nothing new from there.Thank you.

Hello, first of all I do have a dev background, so I’m open to implement something my self. Anyway, I wanted to create a product roadmap with airtable and let my stakeholder vote/like on it. There are two open points with this: have a button so that you can click vote allow non collaborators to click this button (this is not done to avoid paying for the appropriate plan, it’s just because my stakeholders are not part of the team so it would not make sense to involve them as collaborator) I know I can use airtable API but that means creating a complete adhoc solution, my initial idea would be to just share the link to an Airtable that you cannot edit. You can only click on the button if you like it. Thanks, E
