Base Design

Is there a way to mark a linked record field as mandatory? I have 3 tables like this: Client (which is made up of people who belong to Branches) Branch (which has people in it and has a link to the Company whose Branch it is) Company (which contains Branches) I want to ensure that if someone creates a new Client, they must assign them to a Branch, and that Branch must be assigned to a Company. Can this be done in the tables directly? Can this be done in an entry Form? Can this be done in an Interface? Thanks.

OK, I feel like an ‘Airtable Idiot’ for asking this, but I can not figure out how to use one table to populate the lists that are in each of the other tables in this base. I tried ‘Views’, but I can’t seem to get past the “Primary key” road block! I mean, HOW can I get to the 2nd and 3rd columns in that table??? And you can see the Table Structure base here. I have a table that each record has an effective date that contains data that changes weekly. Is it possible somehow to have the data tied to those records to be view as historical data? My first thought would to be copy the table and date it, but I’ll end with with mulitple tables dated weekly. Essentially what I’m trying to do when item prices change to see the current values and then be able to refence the price of the item in the past. Thanks

Hello, I am trying to set up an Airtable base for all of our company’s employees, along with a list of the software that they have given to them when they start. We want to monitor how we distribute our software licenses so we make sure there aren’t any “dead” licenses given to people who already departed the company. We already have Google Sheets filled with information for current employees and software, but we want to use Airtable’s automation to help us make that process easier to audit. However, this is how the data was transferred from the sheets in a column: Miguel Perez 7/15/20 Created Created Created Created Created Created Created Is there a way to customize the field type for each cell in the column to be different from other cells in the column? This is my Kanban View for Production Workflow. Once a video is reached at the status uploaded, I want to moved to another Kanban view in the same table. How to do that? Hey everyone, Just wanted to check in to see if anyone has heard of an upcoming update to be able to toggle off the “recently opened bases” section in airtable. One table holds the main client info (name, birth date, email, phone, etc.) and I have other tables for the info that varies over time (weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, etc.) Is there a way to create a form where I can view/add data in all those other tables at once?

I create an automation on Airtable which duplicate the record (by month choose by the customer) and the automation associate product to delivery : for example : order 201821222 The customer choose 3 month, the automation duplicate : M1- 201821222 M2 - 201821222 M3 - 201821222 On these records, i have a column with the plants we have to send. My needs : i want to display on interface the plant send on the previous month. My employee could choose the plant depending on what has already been sent. In my base , I have contract end date column and status column which many values such as active, progress, inactive, done, started, not started yet. when status changed from only these active, progress, started to done contract date should fill-up automatically. Is this possible. If so, please help me.

Hi everyone ! Here is my problem: I have a table that consists of two columns → 1: Company // 2: Company logo. On another table, I upload company information like name, location, revenue, etc (about 1000 records for each upload). The thing I would like to do is tell Airtable to upload a logo to the 2nd table opposite the company name as I could have done in Excel with a Vlookup function. The problem is that on Airtable, before doing a Vlookup function, I have to link to another record, which takes a lot of time as I have to do it for each record… Can someone help me? :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, I’m designing a database to help manage my client base. I created a main table (let’s call it Table A), for the clients and other tables (table B, table C) for data that I measure over time. I need to make calculations (result = table B/Table C), but only with the last data entered in those tables (B and C). Is there a way to get only the last data entered for a given client?

Hello, I am using Airtable to organize my research project. I have 20 participants, with 19 questionnaires. I will have staff completing these questionnaires at 7 different time points. (Pre op, surgery, 6 month f/u, 12 month, 15, 18, and 24. For each questionnaire, I am keeping track of if the data was collected and if the data was then uploaded in the data base, and if we verified the data after uploading. How would you recommend I do this? Thank you.

if it is possible to post an attachment (.txt file) to an Airtable record (base / table / record / field) directly via API or do we need to post URL and let Airtable download from URL, and if so, what hosting / URL services to people generally use… such as box or google drive… is there a simple / temp host for URL for Airtable? Another question: Can we send a .txt directly to Airtable, or can you only send a URL for Airtable to download the file from?

I’m using Airtable records for individual jobs in my business. I’d like to incorporate timesheets into Airtable and have the timesheet data link to the job records. I’m imagining a separate table for employees and their various pay rates which links to the main jobs table and calculates the cost of the job vs the budgeted amount, but I don’t want the pay rates and job costs to be visible to non-management employees. Is this possible in Airtable? Is there perhaps another way of approaching this problem to achieve the same outcome? I’d love to hear any feedback!

Good Day I am setting up a customer base, Included in the fields is vehicle Information. The Car registration number, Make, Modle, Colour, 1st Contact, 1st Contact Phone, 1st Contact email, 2nd Contact, 2nd Contact Phone and 2nd contact email are all the fields that are for the registered person. The problem I am facing is that a person with more than one car has to register its registration number, make , Modle and colour. However the 1st and 2nd contact details remain the same. Is there a way of doing all of this in the fields without having to add the extra Information already entered

Hello, I am trying to create a table of the hardware and materials we use. What is the best practice to manage varying levels of stepped data. Fasteners > Hex head screws > 8.8 > Partially Threaded > M12x60 Sections > Mild Steel Angle > 30x30x5 All in a single table? Multiple stepped tables? Any advice would be great.

I’m sure there is a simple solution, but I’m kind of stuck thinking through it. We have a membership organization that hosts 3 to 4 workshops each year. Each of these workshops are made up of a team that runs the whole workshop. Each of those members during the workshop has a 3 important pieces of information: The workshop they are working, the role they are serving at the workshop, and if they present at the workshop the presentation they provided. As you can imagine, a member can serve at multiple workshops throughout their years of membership in the organization but will have different roles and different presentations. I want to be able to track at the Member’s record, the workshops they have served, the roles they served at that workshop, and the presentation they provided if they did at that workshop. I’d like to have a single select field trigger a date field and am asking the community for help with the formula. My goal is to have a single select field with the following options: now - this month, next month, future, next, etc. My goal is to have a date auto-populate based on the dropdown selection that dates the item at the end of the next month. For instance, if today were January 5, 2050 and I have an item marked as “Now - this month”, I want a date field to auto-populate with January 31, 2050. If I changed the single select to “Next Month”, the date field would automatically update to read February 28, 2050. Does anyone know how I do this? Thank you!

I have a spreadsheet where a track the Broadway & touring shows I’ve seen and the casts I’ve seen in each. I took a long time to create this over on Google Sheets and like the way it works over there, but I think I could make it even more efficient here. I’m especially having a hard time trying to figure out how to create a section for Venue that cross references the other tabs. I feel like I’m trying to make it too complicated since I’m so used to using formulas to cross reference tabs in Google Sheets. Thoughts on the best way to create this? Google Sheets

This might not work, but thought I would ask just in case: I have a base that has all of my clients & projects broken down in and then I have another base that I have all of my promotion broken down in. In my promotion base I want to come up with an ROI that updates automatically. So I was wondering if there is a way to somehow relate the table that have my promotional information in and a table that has my client information in so I can link the ad campaign that got me that client and in turn have the money I make overtime with that client show next to the campaign it’s linked to so I can create a formula field to show an ROI that updates on its own next that specific campaign.

I’m building a marketing base that has 2 different tables: 1. Prospects. These users just signed up and left their email and name, only interested in joining a newsletter and receiving comms from our company. Through emails sent to the prospects, we invite them to fill out a form to fully subscribe to our services by leaving a bunch of data about them. This is when a prospect turns into a Lead. This table would have these fields: email name agreed to join? (checkbox) → when checked, a lead is created. 2. Leads. Prospects that agreed to leave all their data. This table would look like this: email name data point 1 data point 2 data point n Not all prospects turn into leads. Some never agree to join, so I guess it’s ok to keep them as separate tab

Hi, I am designing a content management application that will manage content across a series of platforms. Each platform needs to have its own publication dates (varying from daily, to weekly, monthly and bi-monthly). When users add stories to the platform, I want them to select from the appropriate dates available for that platform (not just the usual calendar). Is there a way to populate a drop-down with these values, say if they were created in a linked table?
