Hi friends, Is there any inconvenience to not using unique fields names across all tables? Is ther any advantages to using unique fields names across all tables? I mean, which is the best practice A), B) or does not matter: A) users table: “user_name” “user_phone”… as name fields companies table: “company_name” “company_phone” as name fields B) users table: “name” “phone”… as name fields companies table: “name” “phone” as name fields Thanks for your help
Hello, I work on the office side of a housing renovation company. I am trying to streamline our projects to maximize our efficiency. I am hoping to create a table where the renovating employees can check off tasks within projects within workspaces in the house within the stage of the house that a workspace is in. Perhaps, I am just not familiar enough with Airtable or the feature is just not available. Can you please help? I look forward to hearing from you soon! Thank you!
Hi, I am trying to get my financials done with Airtable so I can have a nice play field to test Airtable in real world conditions. I created a first table for the acquisition from my bank. So I have many columns, but specially I created a formula to format the date into MM-YYYY (ex: 04-2022) Then, in a new table, I would like, for each row (04-2022 ; 05-2022…etc) to sum all the expenses and incomes for that specific month. I know I can create a link to cell everytime (by converting a formula MM-YYYY to a link to cell), but I want to create it automatically so I don’t have to manually link every item. I would like to replicate dynamically this : Here are my data table : Thank you !
Airtable is such an amazing app. I walk around and very curious about how it can create a table or link between tables so quickly and fluently. I’m a developer and really want to discuss about how Airtable do all this stuffs behind the scene, is an airtable base reference to a database in server, the same question with table
Hi, I’ve built a base for a music conservatory. We are tracking student groupings for an ensemble. The students field are linked from a database tab. We are trying to avoid having one student in two groups, or at least flagging the groups that share a student. I hope this is clear! Is there a way to do this?
Hi there I just start my first airtable base and currently I have multiple survey forms in one table. Some of the questions share the same column but some of them are not. However, when I look in a grid view, for those columns that are not shared in multiple forms will remain blank, making the whole table looks not organize, because some of the questions in one survey are not relevant to the questions in another. In this case, would you recommend me to add another table ? I’m not familiar with the “database” concept so, I’m wondering what would be the best practice if I would like to analyze my customer profile later. Don’t want to mess it up :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you Lee
HI I am trying to create a list of resources (Small Carton, Large Carton etc) with purchase price and purchase date against each product. I use this data to then allocate resources against each order. Eg : Order No. 1 Order Date: 1 Jan 2022 Small Carton $5 x Quantity 5 = $ 25 Large Carton $10 x Quantity 1 = $ 10 Total $ 35 Eg : Order No. 2 Order Date: 2 Jan 2022 Small Carton $5 x Quantity 1 = $ 5 Large Carton $10 x Quantity 1 = $ 10 Total $ 15 However on 3rd Jan 2022 the cost of these resources go up From Small Carton $5 to From Small Carton $6 How can I update these rate change on the table such that all new orders will use the updated rates and older orders rates are not impacted. Thanks Ajit
I’m working on migrating data between tables. For context, let’s say I have designed these 2 tables for a tutoring company that offers bulk tutoring with different packages: Students Name Hours purchased - rollup from a purchases table Hours tutored - rollup from the classes table Hours remaining - formula, subtracting the above two from each other Classes Student - relation to Students table Class Paid - checkbox of whether this class has been paid The Classes table has a record of booked classes, but not all are paid. We use an automation script that monitors the Students table for any changes to the hours purchased for a student (say through Stripe, or a manual change by sales), and updates the field in the Class Paid column for any of that student’s classes accordingly. This worked for a one-to-one relationship between a student and a class. However, we’ve begun offering classes to multiple students at a time. The “Class Paid” checkbox is now invalid, as two students could have
How to Transfer All of Data from Monday.com to Airtable as each record in monday.com has subrecords.
Hi all, I have a rather complex and specific set up, and I’m looking to pick everyone’s brains to see if I can find a solution. Here’s my situation: I am running a business to do with coaching and I want to be able to handle attendances and shift assignments in AT. So I have a table with all the Coaches A table with all the students I want to have a table where I can keep track of all the available hours of my coaches, and which students are assigned to specific time slots for the coaches. And the coaches must be able to mark the students attendances to keep track of their progress as well. I am currently on the pro plan, if that helps. Would this be too much for AT to handle?
I’m working on a project that may be able to use Airtable, it is a database designed to help organize the requirements for an event, but the events are extremely flexible. For example, I would have an event (event A), that event could have any number of quantities of types of items, and any number of quantities of those items. For this example, lets say the event has desks and chairs, each at a bespoke quantity. However event B has lamps and stools, and I don’t want to display desks, chairs, lamps and stools as columns with their respective quantities to the end user entering or viewing the record. My only workaround at the moment is to link a table of items and every time they create a new event, they will need to make a new record specifically for those items, at that quantity, and with any notes about it. Is there a way to go about this that would be more effective? I am hesitant to have a list of items only, then add columns in the main table for quantity, because the possible opti
Hello, I would like to store the location of electronic components in my workshop. As I have mixed furniture, boxes in boxes, drawer cabinets, etc, I thought a simple “Location” table with parent row would suffice: ID Parent ID Name ---------------------------------------- 1 Red Cabinet 2 1 Drawer A1 3 2 Front Compartment Now I can record that a component is stored in location ID 3. However showing only “Front Compartment” is meaningless without parent names. How can I concatenate an unlimited number of parent’s names into a string for each row? I would like a field storing the string “Red Cabinet, Drawer A1, Front Compartment” for ID 3, for example. I have tried using a formula to create a Display Name field concatenating parent Display Name fields however it throws a circular reference error. This sounds like a common problem but I can’t think of the keywords to find the right solution, please can someone point me in t
Hello everybody, thanks in advance for your attention. I work in a TV series, and I have to send scripts for different episodes to some people (crew, cast, etc) and track which revision I sent to whom. I have two tables, one with all the revision sets for each episode, linked to another table with all the people’s contacts. They are currently all linked to a single field in the people’s table. I managed to filter the revisions that I sent to each person in different columns (one column for each episode), but the cell shows me all the revisions that I have sent for that specific episode, while I’d like to show only the latest. Could you please explain me how to do that?
Hey everyone, At the top of my airtable app on my computer is a collection of the bases that I have recently opened in a section called “Recently Opened Bases” and was wondering if there is a way to get rid of this. It has added a lot of confusion in my workflow so anyway to like maybe move it or toggle it off would be awesome. Thank you for any help!
Good Day I want to add the extension that allows me to generate QR codes that give anyone scanning that code to the particular rows details. I would like to see if there is a method where with a password someone can view all the details in that row and then with another password can only view specific information. The information is for viewing only and can only be edited by admin or editors.
Hi, I configured a field to only display information related to a particular view. It does not work !! However, everything seems correctly configured. Could you tell me how to fix this bug? Thank you in advance for your precious help
Hi we use Airtable to manage marketing campaigns for external partners. Many of the partners will run several campaigns through the year. I’m currently using a form to collect invoice details which is updating my campaign table based on campaign ID. However I can’t keep asking partners to complete the form every time we run a campaign. Each partner has a unique number. I have set up a contacts table where partner details are saved against this number. When creating a new campaign I’d like to be able to add the partner number to the campaign table and trigger automatic population of customer records by looking up the partner number in the contacts table. I’ve tried a few ways but can’t work out how to get this to work thanks Clare this is where I’ve got to: 2 x tables linked by Partner No field Contacts table = customer records Test = campaign table Trigger: when record is created in Test Action: find record in Contacts Update: record in Test (this is the bit I cannot get to work!) than
Is there any way to change the background color of sorted fields? I do not like the default color.
Hello Airtable community! I founded an all-volunteer project to help street cats on the island of Vis, in Croatia, and design a calendar every year to raise money for the project. Last year was my first year dealing with calendar orders via Airtable, and I thought I had a clever set-up where people could fill out a form to order. It DID work for that one year, but I don’t think I designed the base correctly, because it’s not sustainable year-to-year. The base is called CALENDARS+ (in case we start to sell any other fundraising items in the future) and all the data I collected lives in a table called 2022 calendar. Each name entered via the form becomes a record, with the person’s preferred language, email address, postal address and the number of calendars they want. If I do this again for the 2023 calendar, there will be lots of duplicate records, so it’s obviously wrong. I need the people’s data to live in one place so that in following years when they come back to buy another calend
What is the difference between “one month ago” vs “one month from now”?
The name of the grouping fields are not updated to reflect the new name of the base The screenshot attached shows that the Table names are: Live Inventory, Inventory In (+), Inventory Out (-), Suppliers, Installs. However, the field options to group by are Supplier, Usage, Stocking (Old names). Anyone have any idea how to get these to update? I’ve tried refreshing airtable etc.
Hey all, thanks for bearing with me on this one. I offer referral rewards to clients who refer new clients my way. I’d like to track a) who referred a client and b) who a client has referred. See the screenshot for what I’d like to achieve. I’d like to make the process a bit simpler by just selecting the “referred by” field, and have the “has referred” field auto-populate with the relationship. So basically, when John tells me that Carl referred him, I want to fill out John’s “referred by” field, and have Carl’s “has referred” field automatically say “John”. I’ve been fiddling around with this for hours and can’t figure it out even though it seems like it should be simple as dirt. Any clues?
Hey all, thanks for the help in advance. I want to maintain a waiting list in Airtable and can’t figure out how. I have a client list with a single-select: “active” and “waiting” are the two relevant options here. I’d like each client with the “waiting” option selected to be assigned a number, each one integer larger than the last. Then I could use that number in formulas to estimate the waiting time for each person given their spot on the waiting list. If I use the autonumber option I can’t exclude “active” clients, so the waiting list formula would skip numbers. For example, John - active - 1 (shouldn’t have a number, but autonumber gives him one, anyway) Mary - waiting - 2 (should be number 1 on the waiting list) Frodo - active - 3 (shouldn’t have a number) Sam - waiting - 4 (should be number 2 on the waiting list) Does anybody know of a workaround for this, such that my list would read like this? John - active - blank Mary - waiting - 1 Frodo - active - blank Sam - waiting - 2
Gday all, I have a rollup field of ‘text’, which I am trying to display as a list. Currently the rollup displays like this: Item1Item2Item3 What I want to achieve is: Item1 Item2 Item3 I’ve tried multiple different formulas - concatenates but cannot get it to work! Thanks
Hey all, I have a rollup field, separated by commas, yes, but what I need is a count of said field, so that I can have the actual number of items represented by said rollup. A simple COUNT won’t work as the field is a rollup. I’ve tried formulas with arrays, etc. COUNTALL(ARRAYUNIQUE({Kaltura PlaylistIds - done})) for example, but to no avail. It’s weird, it was working one day, and now it just reports 1 for everything. Thanks!
