Hi all - How do we change the order of the record cards? I know it changes sometimes but am not sure how to do this intentionally. Thanks in advance!
I have a list of names that I am assigning to individuals. I need to gather the assigned names and then email them to those individuals. I can’t figure out the process… See the image for example… I would love to at least have a BUTTON field be enabled to do the send for each person OR an Automation that could send them all whenever I’m ready.
Hey all! The community’s been fantastic so far, all of my queries are answered with great solutions! My question here is very simple, is there a way to freeze columns, like in excel/sheets? My table has 40+ columns and the main record is numeric count (I needed it for the lookup), so when you’re halfway through the table you can’t see which record you’re looking at, the numeric count doesn’t tell me anything, would like to have 2-3 columns frozen at any time. Thank you!
I have a table photos that has a column (Uploaded By) which stores email of the user that uploaded a photo (I am using Softr.io). I want to have another column in photos that should have name of the user (from Users table) whose email matches email in Users table, when a photo record is created. Is that doable?
Hey, I am trying to build a holiday let portal. The front end will be on Softr. I have had help on their forum but I’m still not getting where I’m going wrong? What I’m trying to do is when a person selects a country from a single select option, the next dropdown will show counties/regions in the selected country. I have tried two tables and linked fields but no joy? As you can see, I have a property page with a single select country and a separate table with counties. Then I get stuck. I have watched videos, read the documentation and I’m starting to think A) I’m stupid or B) I’m setting it up wrong … Any advice - Please!
I’m completely new to no code and Airtable. I want to create a certificate generator for Covid tests for travelers. I will need to put in basic info like the person’s name, patient no, date and test results. Then a digital certificate of this needs to be produced, which can also be printed. The each certificate must have a QR code that they scan at the border to trace everything back to the digital copy and medical centre.
Anybody has tested the limits of Airtable? I have a formula with 27,000 characters (no spaces) and still works fine. It has 1700 brackets. There was earlier discussion about limit but it seems it is inconclusive. Yes, I know this is not the right way to do it, but I am running out of fields in Airtable and cramming everything in one field saved me about 10 fields or so. I don’t have a lot of data or transactions so I don’t mind it’s a bit slower. And I don’t know how to use scripts unless I get convinced to learn a new skill. Wondering if there are limits after which I shouldn’t go e.g. chance of breaking things. Maximum formula length Formulas Actually, the limit doesn’t appear to be fixed at 32,768 characters — I have a formula nearly 34,000 characters long that works fine — but, instead, fixed at 353… somethings. I’d say “353 lines,” except for EOLs generally being meaningless to Airtable’s formula builder, and that a failing formula with EOLs eliminated
Hi Im creating a Form view to collect new data from our users, not to report on or edit existing data. Is there a way to build a question with a box grid/ table to input the data? Thanks
Just so that people know - copying pictures between fields leads to significant quality loss. I am not talking about copying the whole field into another field. But rather right-click copy image or right-click copy URL and then open the other field attachment viewer and pasting the image or the URL (same thing). This leads to quality loss. Original picture has higher quality and resolution. The loss happens in particular with more loss-less picture formats like PNG. I don’t know if it is still possible to extract the original image from Airtable throuth background download (CSV export), haven’t tried it yet. The only way to preserve the quality of the image is to download the image and again upload in the other field, or the copy the whole field and past all attachments into the other field.
I’m nearly certain what I want to achieve is possible with Airtable, but I don’t have the time to build it. How can I find an Airtable expert for hire?
Hi, I’m setting up a very basic mail merge database for a real estate agent, and I’m struggling to figure out the simplest way to deal with (fairly common) instances where a property has two or more owners with different surnames. How do I design the relevant fields so that a mail merge can format both the envelope and Dear *** in the letter just as elegantly for a John Smith and Betty Johnston customer record as for John and Betty Smith?
Hi, I have a question related to linked fields. I have 3 tables: Store table (list of stores in my marketplace) Products table (my inventory) - one of the fields in my products table is a linked field to the store table (indicating which store each product belongs to) Order table - here I gather my orders. One of the field is a linked field to the products table. Through that linked field, I lookup the store linked field from the Product table. And it appears as a linked field in the Order Table. The problem is that I would like to create a rollup field within the store table that relate to the Order Table but for some reason it doesn`t look like Airtable is following the relationship when there’s two table distance? Here is a simplified view (much more complex in reality, with integration into Adalo through API) Store table Product table order table In this case for instance, I cannot calculate on the Store table how many orders each store has… And given my setup it`s not real
Hi, I have a table with a unique code. I’m looking for a way to provide the public with a form where they can enter a code and check if it’s already been entered to the table or not. How can I achieve this? Thanks
Hi there, I hope this is the correct section for my question. I have a database with 3 tables. Once a table for vehicles. A table for drivers. And thirdly, a table in which I enter the date on which a new driver enters a vehicle - or a vehicle is turned off / parked. Now I would like to always have the name of the driver displayed in the Vehicles table, who took over the vehicle last (seen back from $today) - or it should be displayed that the vehicle is turned off / parked. In both cases, the date of the last vehicle pick-up / the last time the vehicle was parked should be displayed. Can someone help me to realize this? Many Thanks !!
We are a non-proft in the education/employment space. We need to link multiple bases and are getting a tad confused/ time poor and we need to make sure airtable saves us time and is effective for our funding reporting! We are looking for someone to help us with this to ensure we are using the system as effectively as we can. If you can help please leave some details below. Thanks!
Hi, I was wondering if there is any way to use Airtable automations to automatically join data from two different tables into a 3rd table. In my case I have a jobs table and a companies table. I’d like to have a 3rd table that is a “master” which joins the columns from both tables. The jobs table will have data that is constantly changing. The companies table will have data that will remain static. Ideally as a new job row record is created another separate new row record would be created in master that can join the new dynamic data added in jobs table with the static data already in companies table. Is this possible to do within Airtable or will I need to use third party approaches? In either case any advise would be appreciated. Of course a reference to existing entries in the community is welcomed as well. Thanks!
Hello, I am in a pickle and would like to know how to achieve the following Context: I am creating a table with contract details as both an internal database and also as a database that external contractors can use to check specific contract details based on the serial number of a hardware in the contract. Problem faced: I cannot figure out how to allow external contractors to search based on serial number without also allowing them full view of the entire database. I have tried using Interface for it but the vertical format it displays the results in, isn’t ideal as I require the results to be shown in a “table format” (horizontal) How can I achieve this? Thank you
Why and how do all of these extra fields get created?
I work for a non-profit animal sanctuary with 200+ residents and am trying to figure out if switching our database to Airtable would make sense. I’ve got a great start at setting up our base but can’t figure out two major details that could make or break Airtable as our database: Is there a way to track numerical values over time? It’s super helpful to be able to see past values like weights over time to recognize patterns throughout seasonal or age-related changes. I think I’ve seen some potential solutions but I’m not savvy at programming beyond the very basics and get lost pretty quick… Ideally each of the 200 records would have a way to track the historical weights of each individual and display it in the record. Is there a way to display multiple notes from different dates in a single record? This may be the same solution as the previous question? My current setup is to have a separate table that has a field to link each individual note to the corresponding record in the main
I have a table (let’s call it table1) that has a primary column called table1_id I then have another table (let’s call it table2) that has a column which is a link to that table1_id value. I then have another table (let’s call it table3) that has a column which is a link to that table1_id value. How do I create a column in table1 that looks-up a value from table2 based on the row that table1_id is linked in. I feel like I need to do a lookup, but I can only do that on linked Values.
I have an archive of text messages that contains a date field, direction, to_phone, from_phone and message content. Here’s how it looks in Airtable base: What I’d like to do is have Airtable display this in such a way where I would have it grouped by the phone number of the person on the other end. Now, in this table, for an external direction, the phone number is always the same 15_____55 in the 3rd column and for an internal direction, the phone number is always the same 15_____55 in the 4th column. I’d like to be able to click on the phone number of the person on the other end and then see all the back and forth conversations, sorted by the date (and ideally highlighted differently based on internal or external for easy readability). I have 0 experience with Airtable other than just storing data, so I’m not sure where to start. Cheers.
Hi, I am trying to build a formula to properly calculate the cost for an order whose input is a multi-select field of products. I did my best to follow these recommendations: https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/218734758-Airtable-s-guide-to-many-to-many-relationships Calculate Multiple Select Values - #3 by Will_Bailey1 The tables are Products, Orders, and Line Items. The Products Table (includes lookup to the Line Items Table). The Orders Table (includes lookup to a Companies Table (not pictured)) The Line Items Table (includes lookup to the Products Table) I don’t know how to create the field for Total Cost in the Line Items Table to be able to calculate total cost dependent upon which products are linked. On the front end a user would select which products they wish to include in their order. Any pointers or reference to existing community content would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi! When searching, I can only find examples (videos in particular) of how to create links between different tables. But never about the interest (or the best use) of such a practice. For example, someone was showing a database for an apartment search. There was a table “Apartments”, and a table “Districts”. And the District table was linked with the Apartments table. But why not just create a “District” field in the “Apartments” table? Then all the necessary information would be in one place! I guess this is a basic and naive question, but I don’t understand. I’m starting to create some databases for myself and I’d like to know if I should separate the data between different tables or not! + I noticed that you can’t do everything on the very first column (= hide or delete), so should I leave it empty (or just with numbers for example)? Thanks in advance for the tips!
Hi everyone, I started to use AT last week to build a book database (hard cover cartoons), it is a simple database with one table and fields related to one book : ISBN (codebar number), title (single line), picture (attachment), Serie (single select) and volume (number). So I can have different books that belong to the same Serie with of course each with a different volume number. I am trying to have a field that give me all the volume numbers related to a Serie to find out if I am missing one in the Serie. Any idea on how I should proceed ?
Can you please tell me what “Mini Extensions” are and where I can find them? I understand that I can use one of these items to add a “signature” to an attachment field in Airtable.
