OverviewAllow users to assign different detail pages based on conditions. When a user expands a record from an interface, allow users to change which details page opens based on conditions of the expanded record.Setting the conditions could work using a UI similar to the one conditional coloring uses.Problem:There are many instances where I have records that share 90% of the same info, but based on some differences - such as Type or Status, need to be interacted with differently. For example, for my business we track furnishings and fixtures we refer to as "Items" for architectural projects. We need to ensure that certain pieces of information are recorded for each Item, but what pieces of information we need varies based on the Type of Item. There are so many different kinds of information that we need to record that we have as many as 120 different fields in our Items Table. ideally, we could show only those fields that apply based on a condition, in this case, the "Type" Field.I.E. How can I customize the Airtable interface to dynamically adjust bar colors based on the values stored within specific cells?Specifically, I'm interested in understanding the process of implementing such a feature within Airtable's interface to visually represent data more effectively. Are there any specific settings, configurations, or formulas that need to be applied to achieve this level of customization within Airtable's platform?Additionally, what are some best practices or considerations to keep in mind when setting up this feature to ensure clarity and coherence in data visualization?
I have a form that I am editing using the "new form designer" - aka Interface Designer.I am adding some new questions that should be in a group - and all of my old questions seem to be in another group. Can I put the new group INSIDE the old group? Or do I have to figure out how to drag everything OUTSIDE of the old group before I can create conditional groups? Thanks!
Hello all,we use interfaces in airtable so that we can only show the desired data to the users who need it at that moment. For example, we show records where the "current user" is indicated as the assignee. We also have a "Team" field where multiple users can be indicated. Here I would like to indicate a group as a team because a team changes every now and then. We created the group in the admin environment. Does interfaces then recognize the current user in the group?Does anyone know if this is possible?Greetings, Martijn
I have a base with Costs and I want to set up a form where our staff can select multiple records data from one base that will then create a new record in a different base. I want these new records to only show the data selected in the form. This base has unique 'cost code' fields and a corresponding 'Nett Rate' field. I want them to be able to select multiple 'cost codes' that will then create a new record with all of those selected cost codes and Nett Rate fields I then want to set up an automation that sends that record as a CSV file to an email address
Hello!I'm new here and trying to mimic a critical feature for my workflow. Is there any way to create parent tasks and sub tasks, each with unique columns? This is something I'm able to do in monday.com, but I really want to use airtable as my PM system 🙂 Here's a pic if it's easier to visualize: I searched around and couldn't find it in the community posts, so wanted to check here. Thanks!
I have a form that collects multiple garment measurements. Each measurement goes into its own field.I would like for all the measurement fields to be displayed on the form. One or more should be required, depending on the value of another field (garment type). This doesn't seem to be possible. Have I missed something?
Hi everyone!I am currently checking out Airtable to see if it can replace a number of tools currently used for a construction Company. Right now I am trying to build a Report tool, using the Interface designer. There are the following tables involved: - User: The worker of the Report- Project: The Project of the Report- Report: The Report itself -> New one is generated- Performed tasks: Things that have been done, always linked to Person/Project/date & include length in Hous + notes etc -> multiple new ones are generated- Activity of the performed task: One Activity from a database of all the tasks that can be done. Linked into "Performed task"Now the Activity of the Performed task is nested in the Performed task. I set it up like this so that you have your database with Activities and then in the report, a performed task contains the activity + how log, who, where etc. This way you can get a good overview over who did what when, how long etc. To give
Hi, I am trying to get some more sophisticated user interfaces and calculations into a form view or interface but am getting stuck. I am trying to have some pre-set instructions with calculated values in a form that employees would be able to fill out from a single link. are there any integrations/ extensions/ suggestions on how I might be able to do this? Thanks for the help!
I have essentially a navigation bar on the top of an interface that has 8 buttons to take you from this interface to my other 8 interface pages. Is there a way to copy them to the other interface pages without having to reconstruct them one at a time on each page? I know that if I wanted to start from scratch I could create the navigation and then duplicate the page as many times as needed and then add the other elements but I already have all the pages built.
Hello! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Any idea how to get a formula for a record detail within a record detail in the interface?CONCATENATE("https://airtable.com/app/pag/" & RECORD_ID()) SO I have list, I want the formula to take me to that list in the interface, then to the record detail and then to another record detail within the first record detail - make sense? Basically, switching to the interface, having issues with email automations taking to a specific record detail, since before we could direct right to a view in the data layer base. Thanks for any insight!
I have a very simple interface, which just shows a list of fields.Whenever I load the interface fresh, the fields appear to have errors (see below):When I enter the interface editor, these errors disappear and the fields appear as normal. When I exit the interface editor, the fields continue to act normally until I close the page and revisit it later (then the errors reappear again).Inspecting the elements that give errors doesn't seem to reveal anything configured incorrectly.Does anybody have any idea what's happening here?
I have a customer table and a products table. Under interfaces, I have an Explore / Find Customer grid view. I would like to add a button that opens another page showing all of the products that Customer is linked to. I can already see the related products in the fly-in view, but how do I parse this information to a new page view when I can display it as a grid?
The "Link to" field shows the fields in the edit/detail form. In fact, in the example you can see the title. When editing the Add task form it is not possible to show the fields, thus making selection difficult. The two forms should have the same possibilities, I believe they are not aligned.Form edit/detail:Form Add task:
Hello,I was elated at the ability to prefill forms in interfaces just like you can do with the standard forms. However, I'm not able to prefill a linked record in an interface form.I was successfully able to prefill other field types with the interface form, just not the linked record. In addition, I tested the same prefill string on both a regular form and an interface form and even "hardcoded" the string with the Field ID and Record ID (?prefill_fldXXX=recXXX). It worked as expected on the regular form but not on the interface form.Is this functionality not yet possible (other posts on here suggest it should be)? Is this a bug? Thanks!
Hi,Is it possible to manually reorder rows in an Interface Grid Element? If a grid is not sorted or grouped, the "dot" handle on the left does not appear. If a grid is not sorted but is grouped, the "dot" handle appears, but grabbing it and moving the row does nothing. The row stays where it was.In both scenarios, when inserting a new row, the row automatically filters to the bottom regardless of where it is insertedI'm setting up interfaces to introduce new users in our organization to airtable. This automatic row behavior is frustrating them because they're used to things like (unsorted/unfiltered) google sheets, and want to drag and drop rows into their preferred order. Is there a way to configure the Interface grid element so the row behavior is the same as an unsorted grid view? Thanks!
Hey there!I've been having problems calculating and displaying a metric through Interfaces. My ideal end use will be displaying the rate/calculation in a chart so it can be displayed overtime, but I'll settle right now for being able to set the number to a Number Element if it's too hardSo - I'm trying to get the metric Contacts per Purchase. I have a contacts table that has all the contact information plus two relevant fields deal_status (single select) and email_date (date lookup field from the campaigns table). This metric would be easy enough in other system because it would be the simple (Count Contacts / Count {deal_status} ="Purchased") grouped by email_date month buckets or dashboard filtersGiven that neither the Numbers or the Charts elements allows for internal calculations, does anyone have an approach to this issue? I'd rather avoid heavy automation of nested linked because of volumeAnyhow, open to any suggestions or approaches!
Just recently noticed when printing from a list interface, the field headers are now off center from the data below it when printing / PDFing. They appear aligned as they should when viewing the interface itself, but are off once you print. And this is different than the field columns I have for the next level up on the hierarchy, I know those can be resized independently.Anyone else see this happening?Interface view herePrinted view hereUsing this function to export PDF reports daily so hoping I can find a fix to make this look more organized again. Currently using Arc, but happens in Chrome as well of course. Haven't been able to get this view to ever print fully in Firefox or Safari, but in the portion that will show up when printing, the headers are still misaligned.
I have an image field used in my timeline that i would like to refine. Currently the timeline label can show the first image as the cover image - perfect. Then the popup window when you click on a record should show the "hero" style view of that image lookup field, but instead is currently showing each image separately making you scroll far to see all the fields/images in the little popup window. Then you expand the record details to see the sidepanel, and the images show correctly as a Hero style viewer. - perfect. Any way to fix the popup window to have option to use the Hero viewer?
Hi Everyone,I can't seem to figure out how to make a summary of all the expense records within a category. I have a table with expense names with their respective number values and a single select to categorize the expense. However when in the interface designer I can't seem to "rollup" "sum(value)" per category to report the high level rather than every list item.
Hi,Does anybody know why the comment section is not loading/working properly? I have this issue in multiple bases. See attached screenshot for visualisation.Hopefully somebody can help. Cheers
Hi!I'm looking into making a KPI Dashboard for company-wide use. Traditional solutions would be something like Tableau or Power BI, but since we are a small company and we already have Airtable, I've been trying to scope our Airtable as a possible solution. While scoping it out, I haven't been encouraged. It seems like Airtable has a lot of capabilities, especially when using Vega-Lite, but one key thing that we need is the ability to configure charts easily. For example anyone should be able to quickly change the date range on a chart without it affecting other's view.I also haven't been able to incorporate Vega-Lite into an Interface. I've only been able to include it in the Extensions, which is not a convenient user experience if we have 20+ KPIs. I think I need Vega-Lite to get the charts that I need, for example a Sankey chart is not available with the "native" Airtable charts.Am I missing out on some capabilities or should I move on from Airtable and look into some beefier Dashboa
I am building a crop planning tool in airtable for our farm. To simplify, we crop plan with some of the following considerations:- What crops are going in a bed (we are diversified farm, and plant multiple species together) - each crop is its own records, so a bed plan will typically have 2-3 crop plan records associate with it. In special cases, there will be around 10 (cover cropping).- What bed they are going in- Expected planting date and expected removal date- What was growing previously, for crop rotation and other considerationsThis would be much easier to do visually. I would like to be able to drag plans forward/back and between beds, to help them fit together.A few difficulties:- As we have multiple plans to a bed, each crop in a plan is it's own line in timeline. This takes up a lot of vertical space, meaning I don't have a good overview. Sometimes I can only see 3-4 beds at a time, and I need to be able to see a much higher number (we have 50 beds and growing) for this

Hello! I am trying to use the line chart in interface designer to show multiple lines with YTD data across multiple seasons. I've used the "Group By Season" selection. The inputted YTD numbers steadily increase month by month across the x-axis monthly timeline, but the lines displayed in the chart look like scribbles. Can anyone help me understand why? See three photos attache of data, the chart, and my chart settings.
