I am looking for a simple formula to compute hours worked. I have “Start Time” and “End Time” and am looking for a formula for “Total Hours Worked”. I tried one of the other formulas that I found on another post and was unable to get it to work with my table. If someone could provide me with a simple formula to add my start time and end time and output a total hours worked I would appreciate it!
I’m curious to see if anyone is having an issue with their IOS app reverting back to the view that was last used on their desktop? Example - On my desktop I’m using Base#1, View#1. Then go to my IOS app using Base#1, View#2. If I close my phone’s screen do some work. Then go back to the Airtable app, it will show a grey bar at the bottom that says “loading”. The app screen will blank out then go back to Base#1, View#1(which is what was on my desktop). It will also close the record I have open and revert back to the desktop’s view. The IOS app used to not do this. I’ve contacted Support and sent a video of the issue.
Why there is no place to put suggestions for the mobile apps? I guess it is because Airtable doesn’t recognize the importance of the issue when the Airtable support says “most people do not Airtable use mobile app, instead use desktop…” Anyhow, this is a quite frustrating issue and an easy fix. The close button on the top left in the attachment view is way too small. I’m on iPad mini, but same issue is n iPhone and Android phone or table. It takes me at least 10 times to hit the button to close the window when I want to exit the attachment detail window. Please make that button larger and thicker. Here is what I mean: This is similar to my earlier post but it was related to MacOS where the close button is also tiny and it is too close to the window buttons (red/yellow/green) and if not careful I close Airtable app window instead of the Attachment detail overlay window. Similar issue, similar fix needed. Move the CLOSE icon in attachment-view window further from the
I am helping my church with a project and have what seems like a simple problem to solve. I have a table with a list of Serving Opportunities (greeter, discussion group leader, children’s leader, etc). Column 1 is a list of Individuals (linked to Individuals table) that meet certain criteria…as an example it might be that they are a member of our church. This column contains the names Andy, Bob, Chris, Craig, John, Joe and Sandy (all members). Column 2 is a list of Individuals (also linked to Individuals table) that meet a different criteria, perhaps they have children under age 18. Column 2 contains the names Bob, Fred, Craig, Jason, Sandy and Sarah. What I’d like to have is a third column that returns matches in Column 1 and Column 2 (names that appear in both). In this case, it would be Bob, Craig and Sandy. I’m sure this has been asked before, but I can’t seem to find a solid answer. Would love any guidance! I’ll also note that there are instances based on the Serving Opportunity w
Hi Everyone! Can you help point me in the right direction to help solve for my use case below? Any examples of scripts are much appreciated! Use case: Create a simple matching script that will take inputs from a form and then return a list of matches based on the inputs Below is a (slightly) simplified version of my use case. Goal: to match people with specific types of food based on their allergies and taste preferences for a wedding. Data: Table 1. Food List. This includes Information about certain types of food. Each record includes a food choice with the feature “allergies” and the feature “food preference”. Feature: “Allergies” Allowed Values: “peanut”, “gluten”, “dairy” Many to Many relationship One person may have multiple allergies and one allergy may exist for multiple people Feature: “Preference” Allowed Values: “kosher”, “vegetarian”, “vegan” 1 to Many relationship Each person can only select one preference. One preference may be true for many people. Table 2. Customer requ
Hi all- I have a table sourced by a CSV upload with properties and owner names (and lots of other fields) on single rows, 1 row per property. Some owners own multiple properties. I’m using Airtable to clean this up and separate the single row source data into two different views- one of ‘properties’ to upload properties as ‘deals’ into a CRM, and another view of ‘people’ upload as ‘contacts’ in the CRM. If there are 50 properties, there may be 35 owners, ergo, 15 owners own more than one property, but i only want to upload 35 owners, and those who own multiple will be linked to multiple. I don’t want to upload duplicate instances of the same contact just because one person owns two properties. I just want one instance of that person, and in the CRM would link them to both properties. I’ve used this solution from @W_Vann_Hall to identify when an owner owns multiple properties, and have a count of properties owned, but what i am trying to do now is create condition in the records t
Hi! I am creating a task list template that has certain tasks that need to be completed 20 days prior to event, 14 days prior to event, 12 days prior to event, 2 days after the event, 7 days after the event, and so on. I’d love to be able to pop in the Event Date and it autopopulate real calendared DUE Dates based on those parameters so that I can use it over and over for each new event without manually typing in each due date for every single task, but am struggling to figure this out. Can someone please assist me? I am new to airtable and watching lots of tutorials!
Hi, I’d like to take some information from a website and put it in a column on my database. The information is the perceived market value of individual footballers on a website called transfermarkt.com The values change regularly, so I’d like that to automatically update in my database. Is this possible? Many thanks in advance
In a Grid View, how would one filter out tasks that are only “Ongoing” as seen in the Gantt Chart? The tasks have a start and stop date, and I want to show only tasks that should be currently happening. This will help eliminate distractions of future things that shouldn’t be worked on yet. Background: In the Grid view, the primary items are tasks. I use this Grid for scheduling and delegating work to coworkers. For each task, I have a “Start Date” and a “Due Date”. To visualize these tasks, the Start and Due dates drive the Gantt Chart. See the following image: Essentially what I want to do, is create a grid view that only shows the items that today’s date is touching. Another way to say this is, show only “Live tasks” on a grid view. In the following image, that special grid view would only list “Blow form tooling, Prepare RFQ folder and Docs for Outsource, Phase 1 Complete, Phase 2 Meeting, and Phase 2”. I tried to create a simple formula that can describe if a task is currently ong
Hi all, I’m running into a perplexing Airtable approach that I’m needing some help on. Here’s what I’m trying to accomplish. So, if this makes sense, in essence I’m creating a new record in one base that creates a linked record in a second base, and those records’ due dates and statuses need to sync for each related record, with the source of truth for those fields being what’s in the second base. The below may provide more detail. 1.) When a record is created in the “submit for editorial production” in Airtable Base 1, that creates a record in Airtable Base 2 in the “Editorial assignments” view. I’m currently using Zapier for this need and plan to continue doing so. Airtable Sync doesn’t appear to be an option since Airtable Base 2 receives records from several different and unrelated bases, and using Syncs for all of these isn’t an option right now. For the score of guidance today, I’d like to continue with the Zapier approach. 2.) When the Status (dropdown column) for a record in Ai
Hi There, New to airtable and loving it so far. I am wondering if its possible to add a column to my table that only I can see but when the table is viewed when its embedded on my website no one else can see it. I am trying to eliminate the use to my second spread sheet for details my customers don’t need to see in their order.
How do I find table creation date? I’m looking for a ‘table properties’ section where I can view ‘table creation date’ and ‘table updated date’. Does this exist? Seems simple enough but I can’t find it anywhere.
I have some tables that has many records and I want to have another table that will be called Macro View and its going to include all the counts of each table. For example I have one table that is called “Peoples” and it has 50 records there, then I have another table that is called “Animals” and it has 25 records there, then I have another table that is called “Cars” and it has 10 records there. Now what I want to achieve is that in this MacroView to have the sum of these records like example below: People : 50 Animals : 25 Cars : 10
Hello Friends! I am using Airtable for project management. I want to make sure we have not scheduled more than 6-8hrs of tasks per day for team members/resources. Is there a way to create a calendar view that would show the number of hours of work assigned to each team member? I’m guessing I might need a Calendar Table and use linked records, but that would destroy the ability to use the Gantt chart. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Paul Warren
I’m using AirTable as an inventory manager instead of Excel, but when I output more products than what’s on my inventory, my inventory marks as negative. What I want is that in the output row, I always have a limit according to my stock, so when I try to output more units than I have, it mark an error or only corrects to my maximum possible. The issue is that the person that register the outputs not always knows the available stock, so if he outputs 100 units of “x” and there are only 50 on stock, he won’t notice that the inventory is in negative.
hi. i wanna do a simple array of objects in airtable like: [{option: “abc123”, name: “abcabcd”, text: “lorem ipsum”}] they do it here for example when you choose attachment field but i wanna do it with a simple ( item=value ) in array
When I drop pictures into the attachment field, those that were taken in portrait orientation automatically turn themselves to landscape. Do you know how to stop this auto-orientation from happening?
I’m attempting to organize a huge number of contacts according to their relationship to our college (Faculty, Staff, Student, etc), and then grouping the contact list by the relationship field. The only problem is that there are contacts who have multiple relationships to the college; a number of people are listed as both faculty and department directors. When the table is grouped by relationship, it by default delegates any records with multiple group tags into a unique “group” including all those relationship tags. What I’m looking for is to have one group for each relationship tag, with multi-group records appearing in both relevant groups. I know there must be a way to do this, but I haven’t been able to figure it out. Help!
I work as a financial planner and I’m absolutely loving the flexibility of Air Table. One thing, however, I’m struggling with is that I want the ability to link a contact record in the contacts table to more than 1 household in the households table and specify what the role of the contact is for that particular household. What’s the best way of setting this up? I’d like the ability to have a Household View so that it lists all of the contact records associated with that household and what their role is in that household. Currently, I have a linked record between HOUSEHOLDS and CONTACTS and I have a “Household Role” field in the contacts record. But I’m realizing this won’t work because it will show the same role for both households which may not be the case. For example, a contact might be “Primary Client” in one household and a “Power of Attorney” for another household. Any ideas/suggestions how best to accomplish something like this? I’ve created a “Household View” in the Contacts ta
Hi, I’m looking for a way to streamline entering the same data in Airtable in a few different places. I enter due dates for an entire project, but we have SMEs that enter some of the same due dates in another tab for when each individual channel will Go-live. Is there a way to link individual task due dates to another tab’s individual tasks?
I have a table with a column titled Status. It contains four statuses New, Answered, Rollover, Completed. I want to capture the result when a Status changes, for example, from New to Answered, from New to Rollover, etc. I also want to report it compactly. Further, I want to capture and count the Status changes in a Pivot Table or similar. I have looked at nested IF/SWITCH as well as Automation timestamp. But being new to Airtable I am unsure which is simplest and most efficient. The Automation solution seems like many columns and not suited to a Pivot Table. Any help appreciated.
Hello Together I have the following table design: Column “Invoice date” - Type “Date” - Example value: 2021-12-30 Column “Customer code” - Type “Name” - Example value “awc”. Now I want to compose an invoice number from these two fields using a formula. Invoice date & “_” & {abbreviation} My output will look like this: 2021-12-30T00:00:00.000Z_awc But how the output should look like: 211230_awc How can I solve this cleanly using a formula?
Hello dear community. First time asking a question and learning the basics of scripting. One part of my script asks the user for a value like this: let SessionPrice = await input.textAsync (‘Input price per coaching session’); Then I’m trying to insert that value on a currency field with: Let CreateField = await MainTable.createRecordsAsync([{Fields:{“UnitPrice”: SessionPrice}]); And I get the error: j: Can’t create records: invalid cell value for field ‘UnitPrc’. Cell value has invalid format: must be a number I guess its because its a ‘text’ string and I don’t know how to convert it or make it a ‘currency’. In advances I’ll appreciate your help. Thanks…
Hello, Kindly assist with formula for the following lease validity scenario. If today()) is before {lease start date} it is “In Active” If however it is after {Lease start Date} and before {Lease termination Date} It is "Active " Otherwise it is “Expired” Regards Arnold
When I copy and paste a column of data from a sheet in Numbers into AirTable it is pasting invisible tab characters on either side. I can’t see these in the cell but they show up further down the line when using the text in formulas to create social media posts from the data. Is there any way to automatically remove these invisible characters?
