Hi Airtable Community! I'm Matt, a Software Engineer here at Airtable. We're excited to announce some new features of number fields that give you more control over how numeric data is formatted and abbreviated. To access these updates, create a Number field or configure an existing Number field. What's included in these updates? Format numbers for different languages. Using the new “Thousands and decimal separators” setting, you can format numbers automatically based on users' language preferences with the new “Local” option. For example, an English-speaking user sees 1,234.0 while a German-speaking user sees 1.234,0. You can also choose a specific format that applies to all users regardless of language preferences. Support for additional languages and regions will be available over the coming weeks. Control whether thousands separators are shown. You can choose to display a number or currency field with thousands separators (1,234,567.0) or without (1234567.0). Abbreviate large number

Hello! I’m Ayesha, a Product Manager here at Airtable. We’re so excited to announce that we now have Portals available in Beta for customers to unlock guest access for their organization. What are Portals and why would you use them? With Portals, you’ll be able to invite users outside of your organization as guest users to your interfaces. These guest users will see a custom sign-in screen and be able to collaborate inside your interfaces together. We recommend using Portals for key use cases like: Client portals Ex: A marketing agency giving their clients real-time access to project updates and deliverables Vendor management Ex: A plumbing supply distributor who works with major appliance brands and needs to centralize vendor info Customer support Ex: A digital product organization who is giving customers a way to see their roadmap and provide suggestions How do you get access to the beta? With the new trash dialog, you can now restore mistakenly deleted items for up to seven days after deletion! More specifically, collaborators with creator and editor permissions can open up the trash to see the tables, views, fields, and records that have been deleted in a base in the past seven days. Creators can restore all items that appear in the trash, and editors can restore records and fields. Please note that the tables, fields, views, and records you delete will now be visible to editor- and creator-level collaborators for seven days unless you click the empty trash button from within the trash dialog. Emptying the trash will permanently remove everything in the trash, and only creators can empty the trash. For more information, check out the support article.

I’m eager to share that we have just launched support for pivot tables in interfaces! Starting today, all users on a Teams plan or higher will have access to pivot tables directly in interfaces. What is a pivot table? A pivot table is a powerful data analysis tool for succinctly summarizing and analyzing large datasets. The format of a pivot table lets you rearrange and aggregate data dynamically, making it easier to identify patterns, trends, and insights. Historically, the only way to use pivot tables in Airtable was via the Pivot table extension . Hey everyone, We’ve got some exciting news about a long-awaited change to app cloning in Airtable! Who does this affect? This change is for all users of Airtable across all our plan types. What’s Changing? Currently, when you clone an app (e.g. using “Duplicate base” or “Take snapshot”), all the underlying object IDs (like table IDs and field IDs) are replaced with new ones in the cloned version. With this update, those IDs will now stay the same in the cloned app. The only thing that will change is the top-level app ID. Why This Matters: This update will make things a lot smoother, especially for users who’ve had to deal with workarounds due to different object IDs when restoring snapshots. How to review your set up: For most users, this shouldn’t require you to make any changes to your workflow. If you’ve built integrations or automations that assume object IDs are globally unique, you’ll want to review your set up to make sure that it can adapt to this new behavior of IDs being pres

With this launch, we’re introducing advanced date dependencies, gridlines, and grouping. Coming soon, we will also be releasing expanded support for dynamic filtering.
