HelloI'm looking for some assistance with my base design. I come from a SQLServer background and can do this easy here but not getting the best way to build for AT...The ScenarioI have a list of users and a list of products. It's collectibles so I want to be able to know what users have what products, and more importantly which don't they have.In SQL I'd just create a UserProduct table and pretty much create a record for every user for every product and just record it there (not hugely scalable I know but not a big issue). In AT I already have the two base tables Users and Products. I know once I have the base data I can create Got/Not Got views easily but that base table is baffling me - probably over thinking!!!I'm sure it's easy but I'm just not getting itTIAMike
I'm new to airtable but i keep running into the same issue that when you try to link a column to another base (to effectively do what would be a vlookup in excel) that when a link is found the value of the cell you are linking from is displayed but if no link is found its empty. Is there a way to overwrite this behaviour so that the value still is still displayed despite no match? The value is still being recorded in the table as the links will sync if that value is added to the looked up table, it's just not shown when a match isn't found.
Hello,I need to send a csv file to my email when a record matches a condition. I was hoping simple scripting would work, but it seems like this is not yet doable with native Airtable tools. I saw in a previous post that someone suggested to "use a script that creates the csv or Excel file using the CloudConvert service (or another similar service) and attaches the csv file to a record". I will only need to do this max 25 times a day, which it seems like CloudConvert offers for free. I would like to try to make this process free. I tried setting up an API key on Cloud Convert but my script is saying it is unauthenticated. Is anyone familiar with how to set this up?
Hello Community, I need help with one task that should help us save lots of time. We have two tables with attachment field in both tables. One table is called Appointments where we upload an invoice in the attachment field called "Invoice" and another table is called "Contacts" where we store all invoices in the field "All Invoices" for a certain contact. What we are trying to do: When an invoice added to attachment field in "Appointments", we want a copy of this invoice to automatically go to a dedicated attachment field in "Contacts". When I try Gemini AI help, the answer was like this: Airtable doesn't currently offer a built-in way to automatically copy attachments between fields when one is updated. However, you can achieve this using a combination of scripting and automations. Here's a general approach:1. Create a script that loops through the updated record's attachments and copies them to the desired field.2. Set up an automation triggered "when a record is updated."3
I have the following piece of code in an automation. plantingsWateringsRecordId = await plantingWateringTable.createRecordAsync({ "Watering": [{ id: recordId }], "Planting": [{ id: planting.id }], "Crop Picker" : {name: planting.getCellValueAsString("Sort Name & Category")} }) The Crop Picker field is a single select field and I want it to expand the selections if the value passed in is not already there. It appears that this can be done using typecast:true but I can't for the life of me figure out where to put it. The documentation is not very clear about this.Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
My team's work involves tracking and acting on various publication editorial calendars. For example, if a publication is covering [topic x] in January, we like to be able to see that in a spreadsheet and act on it. Currently we collect hundreds of these kits and enter them into Google Sheets separated by month tabs for a full year for each publication. My question is whether an Airtable interface or forms could be set up to make that entry a little easier? Plus maybe make for a more pleasant viewing / sorting experience? I don't have much experience with Airtable interfaces and I couldn't find a similar solution when I searched around.Essential elements: -Ability to enter editorial calendars which include month and associated topic, deadlines associated with each month, and publication name. Ideally also the ability to link publications with specific clients to indicate relevance. Additionally ideal to import editor and other relevant contact info and link it to the publication.-Abilit
Im trying to build a marketplace of sorts that connects wholesale suppliers to store-fronts, and then in turn to retail customers. I'm just not sure how to do this with linked records.I want to have one base that houses all the information about each supplier as an individual record.I want to have one base that houses all of the information about each store front.I want to have one base that houses all of the information about retail customers who sign up for this service.I want to have one base that acts as a primary product database. This will link the manufacturer / supplier and the store-front through two linked fields for each individual product as its own record.Lastly, I want to have a primary order database so when orders are put in they're created as new records in this base and link the store front, products bought there, and the customers who bought them. That all seems easy enough. Here's where I'm starting to run into some trouble and need some help:When I build the front en
Hello! I am really hoping someone may be able to assist me with getting data entered from a record in a specific column in one table, can generate a record in another table, with that data.. For Example:- We have Engineers who enter their Projected monthly forecasts for CIP (Capital Investment Projects) all at once, each record indicates a month. These Engineers enter about 1 years worth of estimated budget amounts, so we are talking multiple records. I specifically want to capture the data entered in the "Forecast Amount" Column of this table, to auto-generate, or copy that data to another table titled "Submitted Forecast". Additionally, I would like the DOF (Date of Forecast) to display on the record that is copied over to the Submitted Forecast Table. Can ANYONE assist me with this request please?! I would so deeply appreciate any input. Thank you,Jordan
I am trying to design my base in the most efficient way to track my user's performance. I want to track performance per week, as well as in total. There is a table where the users are adding records (not directly into the base, but through a user interface), and those records get basically a grade - A, B, C, D, F (a single select field) and have a field with the user's email. I am struggling to find the best way to wrap all of this data into a new table that tracks the users productivity. I want to know for each user how many As, Bs, Cs, etc they get per week, as well as the total counts of each grade over all of the data. With the totals, I am also hoping to do calculations such as percentage of A's, etc. Anyone have any suggestions on how I could set this up in Airtable in the most optimal way? Thanks!
Hello,I am importing AirTable data into a SQL server database via SSIS and some numeric values are being imported with a floating point error. In order to get some help from my local AirTable admin, I need to be able to show them that the currency-formatted values in the Air table interface are not the exact value of the data that were entered and stored in the AT base worksheet. Is there a way to view through the AirTable UI the stored value without the format?Example: $0.090 is the column value as displayed in the AirTable UI.Here is that same value when imported from SSIS 8.9999999999999997E-2
The 'Add Record' button is preventing me from seeing the summary of my first column. I've tried refreshing the page several times but the issue persists. Could someone advise a fix?
I’m currently working on a setup where I need to reference data from the previous record in my Airtable base. Specifically, I want to pull data from fields in the previous entry to use in calculations for the current record. Here’s what I’m trying to achieve:I have a field called Current Tank Level in each record.I want to automatically populate a field called Previous Tank Level in the current record with the value from Current Tank Level of the previous record.I’ve tried setting up linked records and using rollup fields, but I'm facing challenges with automating the process to ensure the Previous Tank Level field always reflects the correct value from the previous record. How am I able to grab the previous record entry "Tank Level value" and automatically add it to my "Previous Tank Level" record?
Hello, I have a table with reference fields from another table. I want to lock the values in those reference fields if a record has a certain value in a selected column and not have them updated even if those values are updated in the referenced table. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Thank you!
Hi all,Wondering if there's a filter or formula solution (not sorting) to filter all results down to only the "Soonest one" ranked according to date field. I have a form in one table linked to a view in another table, ideally so people can only sign up for one linked choice (it's a monthly event registration). Currently I have the filter set for Date within the next month which mostly works, but a day or two before the event, both the current and next month's start displaying (because it's only 28 days away, etc.) Perhaps my logic brain isn't on today, but I can't think of good filter terms to only include the soonest event. The other thought I had was a formula which would assign numbers or filters to the nearest date (-1 for past, 1 for soonest, 2 for next, etc.) and then I could make that the operative filter, but I don't see an obvious example of that in the Formula Reference Base or guidance. Any advice?
I am trying to get smarter with base designs and newer feature offerings, however im having trouble balancing risk vs reward.Moving a teams workflow to another base makes great strides in decluttering and simplifying bases for teams. However i am seeing that if i want Source and Target editing in two-way synced tables, i can only do so if the permissions are a generic "editors and above" or "creators and above". For example ... i have a field in source table where i am a creator, and i have set this field to allow edits from specific users and i am selected. I then jump over to the target table and try to edit field, and it will not let me. But if i change the source field permissions to all creators or all editors, then the editing works. I am the admin and builder/creator of this workspace, both bases are within this workspace, and i am logged in.Similarly if i choose table permissions to only allow myself to create records and/or delete records. i want this to carry over to tar
I’m using AT as an Applicant Tracking System for recruiting. For records in AT, we use the Comment function to provide long-form notes on our candidates. We know the Comments automatically time-stamp the post, but we’re wondering if it’s possible to have the comment also update the ‘Date Modified’ field. This will help us run reports on the last date/time we’ve had an interaction with a candidate in our system.
Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me create a formula that would output an alphanumeric ID based on variables in other cells in the row. I'd like to create an ID that include:First, if Cell A = xYx then add "Z" to start. If Cell A = YxY then add "ZD" to start. Then, take first letter from name and surname, and then add these. So John Smith becomes JSThen, add first 4 digits from date field (DOB). So, 14/11/1980 becomes 1411So, as an example, ZDJS1411.Thanks so much community!
This month I was charged 304.5 USD, currently I have the "team" plan of 24 USD. In the details of this month's invoice there are multiple charges with the concept "Remaining time". I don't understand what is the reason for this excessive charge. I request your help as soon as possible in order to clarify this charge. Thank you
Hi Airtable Community,I have a base with different automations with the same trigger. I would like to set an order by with these automations are triggered. For example, I would like Automation one to be triggered first. After automation 1, the automation 2 should start immediately.the easiest would be, to just add another “Find records” and another Repeating Group in this automation. Unfortunately, its not possible to add anything behind a repeating group.I Want specific phases and tasks for projects to be generated. Both needs to be linked to the project and the tasks should be linked to the phases. To do so, I need the phases to be created first (trigger=new project meets condition). After that, I need the tasks to be created and linked to the phases. When both automations start at the same time, some of the tasks are not properly linked because the phase was not created yet. (see Screenshot). Can anyone help me with this? BestMirko
I'm trying to set up an automation in Airtable and could use some help. Here's what I'm aiming to achieve:Scenario: I have two tables in my Airtable base:Table A (Products): This table contains product records.Table B (Orders): This table contains order records, each of which is linked to a product from Table A.Goal: Whenever a new record is created in Table A (Products), I want to automatically update a linked record in the same Table with the same product name (Products).Issue: I'm unsure how to set up the action to update the linked record in Table A with the same product name (Products).Could someone guide me through the steps to set up this automation in Airtable? Any detailed instructions or tips would be greatly appreciated!Thank you in advance for your help! Also include a picture
Hi awesome Airtable users, Recenlty came across an issue where existing button fields in Interface designer (legacy one) stopped recognizing existing automations in the Automations list. Doesn't recognize any. It was working fine until today morning. Has any come across the same issue?
I'm really hoping this can be accomplished without needing to create yet another formula field, so I'll give details below and see where I get. 🙂I have fields for start and end dates and then a formula that calculates the duration between them, including when the end date is blank and then it just keeps counting from the start. I want to have a chart show this data on an interface, but I don't want every single value showing uniquely on the chart if possible.Instead, I'd like to have it group them into buckets for things like 0-30 Days, 31-90 days, 90+ days, but I can't see any way to do that intelligently within the interface. My fear is that I'm going to need a formula field that gathers this at the table level and then point the pie chart to that field instead of the duration field.Anyone have a suggestion for the best way to accomplish this kind of reporting? Thanks!
Hi Airtable Community, I have a base that I’m using for personal lifelogging which has three tables: activities (“Dinner with friends”), location (“Sal’s Pizza”) and people, (“Nancy,” “Jonathan,” etc.). Those tables all link to each other. However, within the “people” table, I want to show relationships: parents, children, siblings, spouses, etc. Unlike when I link to another table, using a linked record here doesn’t seem to auto populate—so choosing one person as another’s spouse does not automatically fill in the other one. Any suggestions from users or mods out there on how to accomplish what I’m trying to do? Thanks!
I have a base "Inventory and Catalog" to keep track of seed received and varieties. This is the sourceI sync a catalog table to a base "Trials" where data lives about projects. I sync the variety catalog to this base so that users can link varieties into trials and say how much seed they'll use per trial. So i've added a linked record field in the synced catalog table for "trials" and then a field that rolls up how much trialing seed is used per variety. I want the seed used roll up field to then appear back in the inventory and catalog base but can't seem to figure out how to make that happenFor security reasons, I cannot put trials and varieties in the same base because varieties are entered with an external form, and our IT doesn't want that third party to access our trialing information.
Can't seem to find this on the community board, but if it has already been answered - I'd appreciate a link. I have Projects and Subprojects. The latter being the child. So there are a few Subprojects for every Project. On the other hand, I have Project managers. I want to have a "Tasks" table with all the tasks assigned to Project managers. My issue is that I want tasks to be EITHER created related to the Subproject, OR related to the main Project. The same exact relationship issue I encounter is when I have "Payments". A payment can be to a subcontractor - and therefor related to a Subproject. OR a payment can be to a Sales agent who brought the Project - and then it would be to the project. If I create two tables for these (i.e. "Project Tasks" and "Subproject Tasks" or "Project Payments" and "Subproject Payments") then it really just duplicates a lot and it also makes it impossible to create a normal interface to see all tasks assigned to me
