We use Airtable heavily with parent --> child relationships and are trying to standardize our workflows using record templates, especially within Interfaces while reducing the amount of automations used in this aspect of our workflow. What we’re trying to do (high level)We want to generate groups of task records (child records) and link them to a parent record that already exists. We only ever work in interfaces so it must have a way to function for our users there.Using record templates or a native grouping feature Without relying on automations Without creating a new parent recordCurrent setupWe have many tables that act as a parent record and then one table that is the child record (tasks). Most of them have a pre- and post- step of creation, some with 3 steps where specific tasks are generated at each phase (e.g. Interest, Application, and Decision). Below is an example of 2 steps (pre-award and post-award). Pre-award tasks (works well) Parent record is created via an Interface f
I’m curious about external Airtable documentation. How do you document the setup of your Airtable bases? My team uses a couple of bases and we’re exploring how best to document them. We use Notion for other purposes, including knowledge management. We’re working on user guides for how staff use the bases, but my question for this group is more about the technical documentation.I started playing around with the idea of documenting each table and their fields in Notion databases. That quickly started to feel like we’d sort of just be recreating the base structure in a way that is very difficult to keep up with. We feel the need to have external documentation (to include documenting integrated forms in Fillout, some automations in Make, etc.), but haven’t yet landed on the right format and scale. Would greatly appreciate hearing what anyone else does.
I am so happy and excited about the abilities for Omni to code a custom interface page and to make a custom extension and host as a page. but I am having a ton of difficulties and challenges in figuring out how to do what I want to do—even with cursor help. I want to create a custom interface page with the extensions that act like a normal list view but has an improved/optimized record detail view that includes the flexibility features I want for building interfaces pages. here is what I want to do, and I am hoping to have some guidance or help for record viewer Floating/static Header control + adding a “status field” to the right of the header that also floats Making groups able to collapse and expand on title Pagination or tabs that I can custom organize, name and assign groups and/or fields to to make long record detail pages, shorter I have tried and tried again. But all the Omni produced pages are incredibly buggy and impossible to tweak and don’t have the functionality. and I
Hello everyone,I am new to Airtable and would really appreciate some guidance from the community.I run a luggage storage startup in India, and we use Airtable to manage our customer bookings. Each booking record includes: Booking reference number Customer details (linked / lookup field) Payment method (Stripe or PayPal) Payment status (Yes / No) Booking status (calculated using a formula) Booking created date Start date & time of the booking End date & time of the booking When the payment status is “Yes”, the booking status changes to “Confirmed.”When the customer arrives and starts using our service, the status changes to “Renting.”As our number of bookings has grown, I am struggling to create one single view that shows: All confirmed bookings that will start within the next 7 days (including today) All currently renting bookings that are active now and/or ending within the next 7 days The goal is to give our agents a quick operational overview, so they don’t h
Quick question / feature request: Would it be possible to make the Calendar view in Interfaces scrollable (vertically or horizontally), instead of navigating month by month using the arrows? An infinite scroll would make it much easier to: View multiple months at once Drag and reschedule calendar items several weeks or months ahead (e.g. 1–2 months forward)
I have a table of contacts that includes zip code for each contact. I want to provide a view of contacts for a given county. I can get a list of zip codes for the county, but it's too many zip codes to list each one as a separate condition on a filter.I thought about setting up a zip code table and using a linked record from the contacts table. Is there a way to create a new linked record field that links based on an existing already-populated column? There are too many records to select linked records manually.Or, is there a way to create a view with filter criteria that references another table? Thanks for any suggestions.
I hope this finds you well. I recently upgraded my plans AI credits to accommodate some initial needs around adding data to my base. I will not need that amount of AI credits next month. That said, here are couple questions:What date will I be charged for my team plan? I cannot find this information in my workspace settings. If I downgrade my plans AI credits will I lose the AI credits I've already paid for? FYI - Would Airtable consider adopting a BYOK model? Or possibly separate AI credit purchases from the plan itself. Gemini suggested that Airtable is charging a 5000% markup on AI credits when compared to standard API usage pricing. Does that sound accurate to you?Humbly and respectfully,
Hi everyone!I entrusted Airtable as part of my career (business plan) and now, I’ve encountered a significant issue at my workplace. My customers are salesmen and they utilize quick ‘CTRL+F’ buttons to find our products on our Airtable. If they don’t, they go to another vendor and we lose that sale.1,000 record view limit banner with button on right I understand they can press ‘Load all records’, but unfortunately not all of my customers are fluent with computers and/or want to deal with pressing ‘Load all records’ all the time, so we’d just lose the sale entirely.I notice this pops up ONLY when I am logged in. HOWEVER, when not logged in and/or viewing via a link... the banner is not there and all inventory shows as normal. Unfortunately, as a good Airtable patron that I am, I made our customers sign up and now they can’t see the inventory we sell. CTRL+F limit I’ve consulted Google Gemini to no avail, and I’d like to say we’re losing a significant proportion of our sales.
Hi guys, I’m looking to add an automation which assigns an 'issue number' when a new issue is recorded in my AirTable, either by intake form or manually adding in a new line. So the automation would need to understand that:A) Issues can come in groups so there could be multiple issues raised under one issue type and that they will then all need the same issue number assigned to them.EXAMPLE:ISSUE #1Product failure 1Product failure 2Product failure 3 ISSUE#2Sizing problem 1 ISSUE #3Color failure 1Color failure 2 B) Take the next numerical number in the sequence and not duplicate an issue number that’s already recorded somewhere in the table. For example, if I have 10 issues, and issue 1-5 are open, and issues 6-10 are closed, then the automation would need to assign 'issue number 11' to the next issue that comes in not another 'issue number 6', because it's only focusing on the open issues and not taking into account the closed issues. Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Tha
Hi all!I’m having an issue of forms responses not populating into my data table after the form is submitted. This is a unique problem though, because what seems to be happening, is that when a response is submitted, by anyone, it pushes the last response through but doesn’t appear itself. For example, a coworker submitted a test response last Friday. I received the confirmation email on Friday, but the response didn’t populate into the data table UNTIL I submitted my own test response. I immediately saw my coworkers response populate into the data table but not mine, even though I received the confirmation email for my response. Has anyone encountered this before? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!Brandon
Hello everyone,I’m currently using Airtable to manage my business database and I’ve run into a problem that I haven’t been able to solve. I’m hoping someone in the community can point me in the right direction.I have a table called “Services” with the following fields: Service (linked record to another table called “Service Catalog”) Sale price Labor cost Material cost Depreciation cost I’ve successfully automated the labor cost calculation based on employees and working time. However, I’m struggling with the material and depreciation costs. What I need is for these values to be “frozen” at the moment of the sale.In other words, if I later update the material or depreciation costs in the Service Catalog table, I do not want those changes to affect past records in the Services table.Right now, because these fields are linked/lookups, the values update automatically, which breaks my historical data.Is there a way to: copy these values at the time of the sale, freeze them permane
This is a huuuge release! Finally, one of the top problems in Airtable has now been solved! For the first time ever, you can now control who receives automation error notifications!Amen and hallelujah!! 🥳🙌🎊🍾Check out the screenshots below.- ScottWorld, Best Airtable Consultant
Goal: To update records in my base table when changes are made to an existing meeting notes document or a new meeting notes is saved. I’d like to review the changes so I can approve or reject any changes before the records are updated in Airtable.Situation: I currently have my meeting notes saved in Google Drive which n turn is synced to my base in Airtable. When changes are made to an existing meeting note or a new meeting note is saved, it's reflected in my ‘Internal Meeting Notes” table in my base. So the sync works fineIssue: I created an automation to incorporate a trigger that activates when updates or changes are made to the 'Internal Meeting Notes' table; an action was added to find records, generate AI-driven suggestions for updates, and subsequently update records based on the generated content. Here is a screen shot of the automation. The issues I have are that, I'm getting an error in the “Find record step” as well as the “Update Record” step. See automation screen shots
Previously reported issue: Getting all records modified after a date | Airtable CommunityI’m calling Airtable passingfilterByFormula: "IS_AFTER(LAST_MODIFIED_TIME(), '2026-01-25T00:00:00.000Z')",// filterByFormula: "IS_AFTER({Last Modified}, '2026-01-25T00:00:00.000Z')",Last Modified is a formula column I created. Neither of them works.ExpectedOnly return records that were edited after a certain dateActualIt returns all records Am I doing something wrong? Is it not supposed to work? Are there workarounds for this?
Is it possible to utilise a tracking pixel to allow a third party to track the progression of a record through a series of statuses within Airtable?
Hi guys, hoping you can help me out here. I have ‘Table A’ which is used for collecting issues. I have ‘Table B’ that will be used to track the work being done to resolve the issues from Table A. I’m looking for a way to automatically populate predefined data fields from Table A into Table B when you put a ‘tick’ in Table A.For example: If I have Issue 1, Issue 2 and Issue 3 in Table A and I put a ‘tick’ on Issue 2, I want the predefined fields from Table A to then automatically populate in Table B. Any help you’re able to give would be greatly appreciated
Xavier
Hey everyone, I’ve been using Airtable for a bit now and I love how flexible it is, but I keep running into issues when it comes to forms. Whenever I need a form with conditional formatting, multi-step process, or really anything that goes beyond a “submit once” form. Are there any good tools/workarounds that could achieve this?
Hello Airtable Friends!! I am trying to send automations to emails, but my automation field is not loving any of the formats I am using to store the email. I’ve got a lookup field, I’ve got a rollup field, I’ve got a formula field to put the lookup field into, and nothing!!! Can someone please point to where I’m going wrong? For some (maybe?) useful background: these fields are connected to one that is “limited to last 1”, so I only see who checked out a piece of equipment most recently, the original emails are synced from another base, and I select the field name in the drop down list so the “Field ID” keeps coming up, regardless of which field I select (the ID’s vary, though).
Hi Airtable builders! In previous topics, I shared how you can sync your Shopify metaobjects, metafields, and even Products & Variants with Airtable in real time. The good news: you can now sync your Shopify translations with Airtable too (thanks to SyncBase). How does it work? During onboarding, you can choose which languages you want to sync. The app creates dedicated fields per language (e.g. Title (EN), Description (FR) …) inside a new Airtable base — or an existing one if you prefer. Each record represents a Shopify object (Product, Variant, Metaobject entry…), and each locale is editable directly from Airtable. Any update you make in Airtable is instantly synced back to Shopify — and vice-versa ⚡ It works for all supported Shopify translatable content (Products, Variants, Metafields, Metaobjects…) and everything stays fully in real time. Here is a 45 sec demo 👇 A few use-cases from our first beta-testers: Centralize all Shopify translations in one Airtable base Use Airt
After someone submits my form, I want it to go directly to my designated redirect page. Instead, I’m getting this screen:How can I get rid of this screen so it goes directly to the page I set as the redirect? I have a lot of people filling out forms who are… let’s just say this is too much opportunity for them to click the wrong button or get confused. I need this screen to go away.
Buenas tardes, soy nuevo en esta comunidad y también en la aplicación Airtable. Me gustaría crear una aplicación para el seguimiento del tiempo de los empleados en una empresa. ¿ Alguien podría orientarme? Gracias
Is it my impression or the latest version of the SDK removed support for defining a table as a custom parameter? My extension reads data from another table as support for that has been recently added. In order to avoid hardcoding things, I was allowing users to select a table. This was supported (see link below). However, the latest version of the SDK does not seem to support that. (^0.0.0-experimental-e7419444f-20251120). I’ve updated my code so the parameter is now just a string. It seems to be working. Could you please confirm this makes sense?https://airtable.com/developers/interface-extensions/api/BlockPageElementCustomPropertyThe signature of the type BlockPageElementCustomProperty I’m getting does not include that type anymore (see below) and I also get a run time error.type BlockPageElementCustomProperty = { key: string; label: string;} & ({ type: 'boolean'; defaultValue: boolean;} | { type: 'string'; defaultValue?: string;} | { type: 'enum'; possib
Our team currently uses a legacy spreadsheet in Excel that is connected to Power Automate. This is visible by many teams and transitioning this workflow from Spreadsheet to Airtable would cause more issues than concerns. I’m wonder if its possible to connect excel to Airtable and make it live so everything is in real-time so that I can use Airtable dashboards to showcase the data we get in the spreadsheet. Is a 3rd party application needed?
Hi everyone,we’re already using Airtable (initial tables exist) and we’re looking for help to properly structure the base and build a lightweight internal frontend / possibly an app to track and analyze our networking activities.Use case: Manage contacts (not customers) and log interactions/meetings per contact (date/location/type), discussion topics, resulting projects/leads/outcomes, follow-ups + reporting (activity over time, last interaction, topic/outcome breakdowns).Key requirement: A mobile-friendly workflow to take photos of meal/entertainment receipts and attach them to the related interaction/contact, including basic fields (purpose/occasion, attendees, amount, etc.) — with the goal of providing documentation for our tax advisor / authorities if needed.Usage is internal only (1–2 users, no external access). If you’ve built something similar and can advise/implement (Airtable Interfaces vs Softr/Stacker/Glide vs custom via API), please reply or DM with examples and your suggest
