Hello. I'm new to Airtable, but have some experience in other db applications. I am creating an app to track trading. I have a trade table where details about each trade are stored. It also stores the result of the trade in a field called TradeResult. I made a grid view where I summed TradeResult grouped on TradeDate so I know the total results for each day. What's the best way to display that in calendar view? I'd like to be able to look at the calendar and see how each day went. And not to be greedy, but if I could display the weeks total result on Saturday, that would be perfect.Any help is appreciated.
I'm curious how others address this challenge. In our project management base we have a combination of tasks and meetings. Tasks do not really need times, only start and/or due dates. Meetings, on the other hand, need both dates and times. Our current solution is to use multiple date fields. Start and end date fields for tasks, and start and end date/time fields for meetings - essentially four fields.Anyone do something different or better, or more efficient?
Hello everyone,I have 3 Airtable bases, which are synced with each other. (Table A ---> Table B ---> Table C) I was looking for a way to activate the 2-way sync between the Table B and C, but it seems like Airtable currently doesn't support the 2-way sync if the source table is already a synced table from another source.I think this is a quite crucial functionality for users like me to expand the sync capability across multiple bases. Does anyone know about Airtable's roadmap for this feature? I can guess why Airtable made the decision to disallow it at this moment, but I'm curious if there is anything I can look forward to.
Hello everyone,I am brand new to Airtable and would like to create a table for my freelance work that not only includes my appointments but also performs some calculations based on the content. In my first attempt to create a base, I entered all the relevant fields, but I am currently stuck on the calculations. It's possible that I didn't set up my base very cleverly, so I would greatly appreciate any help! The table should be able to do the following:Include all my appointments and display them in calendar view.Include the information from the columns that are already filled in (such as appointment name, date, time, location, contact person, confirmed, fee, paid,"Übungsleiterpauschale", notes).Perform various calculations and display them in a clear manner (and this is where I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it):Calculate the total annual and monthly fee.Calculate the total annual and monthly fee minus 30% for taxes.Calculate the total annual fee minus the fee for all entries ma
Hi all,I've got a table of dates called "Possible event dates" that gets linked to other columns including "Dates table" as shown below. The problem is that the link seems to be setting the time back an hour, as though they were set to different time zones, but it's not clear from the field settings how this is happening.Any ideas? Thanks!
I have a slightly complicated project. I use airtable for our farm records. I want to use the information in a planning table to partially autogenerate an annual crop plan. We grow 40+ varieties a year. I have created a table that is an overview of all the variables I factor when making crop planning decisions. In essence different crops have different seed sowing frequencies. E.g. in a year I might do:-1 sowings of pumpkins-3 sowings of field tomatoes (4 weeks apart)-26 sowings of lettuce (2 weeks apart)I know this information based on:1) Expected yield per sowing2) The harvestable period of a crop (e.g. pumpkins are a single harvest, field tomatoes we harvest from for 4-8 weeks)3) Target harvest frequency (e.g. I might only want to harvest carrots every 4 weeks - I don't need to sow it so that I have a harvest every week on it).4) The season I can grow it - i.e. first and last sowing datesSo I have all the information I use to make decisions against records of each crop. I
hi all! trying to create a data base to help my team assign work and hours across projects, but am dealing with a few variables, including: - Projects are different durations, but resources are allocated monthly- Different team members have different billing rates, PTO, and capacity in terms of numbers of hours availableAny tips or similar bases you've seen?
Hi, I'm using Airtable as my Main inventory.PROBLEM:Currently, I assign item location on a per unique SKU or product basis - the problem is, I cannot track how many item is assigned to the location. For example TshirtA has 3 quantities, all I can see right now is it is assigned to Box 1 and Box 2 but I don't know how many of this item is inside Box 1 or 2.GOAL: I want to be able to have a field in MAIN INVENTORY table where I can see a sum of how may quantity is stored per location. Example TSHIRTA, BOX 1 = 3pcs, BOX 2 = 1pcsI have 3 relevant tables for this problem. Main Inventory, Item Locations and Inventory Movements.Item Location is self explanatory, Inventory Movements is where I record the + or - of the stock quantity whether it's a stock allocation or a shipping. I thought the solution to my problem is assigning the location in the Inventory Movements table, this way, I can track the location on every new item that comes and goes.... then lin
I'm trying to create a task view. Every time I try to create an airtable base it tells me, "Cannot sync or copy data between tables in the same base. Please choose a shared view from a different base"In one view or base, I want the primary object to be contacts, in the other, I want the primary object to be tasks.Maybe later I'll want a third view for company. And I want all these views to sync with each other and stay up to date. The biggest reason for this is because I might create tasks that aren't associated with a contact. Right now, when I create a new tasks that doesn't have a contact, it creates a blank contact. But when I move to add or import a tale, I get the following error message: Cannot sync or copy data between tables in the same base. Please choose a shared view from a different base
Hi everyoneI've come up against a limitation and I'm wondering if there might be a creative workaround for it using linked records and/or multi-select options. The problem is that when you have a base with multiple collaborators, if you have a "record comments" box in an interface, there's no way to limit which other users that collaborators can send @ comments to. I'm building a platform that will involve multiple clients from different companies collaborating within the same base. It's no issue restricting which records they can see based on filters by "current user" etc, but this option doesn't seem to be available for comments. I think there may be a way to link users to records of other people just in the same company as them, and then use a multi-select option instead of the collaborators list you get when you type "@" to allow users just to select the names of colleagues, and then a checkbox or button that posts their comment.Has anyone ever done this?
Looking for a way to export grid data WITH attachments. Perfect world solution would be to download as excel and keep attachments. This would be the most preferred solution if there was a script or extension/app/block allowing to export a view to google sheets or to excel, so that it is still a spreadsheet data but with attachments loaded into the corresponding cells. I did manage to use a google sheets formula to convert url’s into images with ‘=image()’ … that being said once I tried downloading to excel it again does not show the images. So maybe as a backup solution is anyone aware of a formula in excel that can be quickly applied to convert a batch of urls into images in adjacent cells?
Hello everyone,I have been working on building and designing systems using Airtable for a while now, and I have developed a preference for creating different connecting bases. For example, I typically build a CRM System Base and a Project Management Base that have synchronized tables but operate independently. My main objective has been to keep the bases as user-friendly as possible by minimizing the number of tables and allowing independent access for contributors. This approach has worked well, although it does have some drawbacks.Lately, I have been focusing more on building interfaces, and this has helped mitigate the issue of having too many tables. Users no longer see or care about the number of tables present, which allows me to design the base structure purely based on functionality, without having to prioritize usability as much.I am curious to hear other perspectives and thoughts on this topic, as I am currently leaning towards using one larger base in most cases.Thank you.&nb
I am wondering if there's a way to set a view privately just for yourself, so it's not visible for other members. For example, I share the base with member A and B. I wanted to create a view only visible for member B and myself.
Hello,I am creating a content calendar. In table 1, I would like to see a calendar view of all scheduled tasks. The scheduled tasks are each in their own tables (blogs, newsletters, socials, etc.)How do I take the task name, type, and publish date from the individual tables and pull them into one calendar view?
While trying to configure a new Interface, I triggered this error code:pglf0yHZSVqEHgL60and this message:I was trying to add some field conditions and it choked.I'm pretty sure I mangled something and probably need to clear cache or something.Any ideas are most appreciated.
The flat design that airtable now has for their iphone app, is making the usability worse and rubbish. Now there is a newly lost sense of hierarchy, there is too much visual noise and the vis-a-vis pairing of keys to their corresponding values, is now lost. Can the old design be put back?
Hello, I am looking to sync an existing google sheet to airtable. The header in the google sheet that I want to sync is actually Row 2. Am I able to do that or does the header have to be the first row?
I have a linked record field in my table (Table A) where I disallowed the linking with multiple records from Table B. However, when I duplicate a record in Table B that is linked to a record in Table A, the linked record field in Table A gets 2 linked record, even though the linking with multiple records is still disallowed. How can I prevent this to happen?
Our use of Airtable is becoming so big that we really can't have everything in one base, but if we separate our operations into several bases, we're concerned there'll be some loss in terms of the interactions between our work. a few questions:pretty sure i know the answer to this one: is there a way for 2 bases to "talk to each other" and for data to interact with each other through automations or edits?if not, i understand that i can create a synced view to see data from 1 base in the other, but is it only viewing? is there a way to edit back and forth through a synced view? We're using the Pro plan. can we do the above if we're on Enterprise?
Hello! New to Airtable. Trying it out to see whether I can use it for a specific need I have. Scenario: Our community (of around 500 members) have a shared google sheet having each of our basic details. I have imported that to a airtable base. Question: Can I set the permission on the base such that (i) all members can view the table AND (ii) each member of the group can edit their row? Thanks!Varun
Hey friendsI want to build a content plan for social media according to dates. So:I have several tables for each platform:1. Facebook2. Instagram3. Tik Tok4. Email marketing. In each such table I have the topic (story, post, etc.), the upload date, the content itself and status.I also want to have a master table that will actually contain date, status, comments and also contain a Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and email marketing column (linked columns).I want the main column in the master to be the date and actually when I write a certain date it knew to pull me to my linked columns what needs to be uploaded each day according to each platform. For example, I will choose the date 05/18/2023 - it will automatically fill in the Facebook column what needs to be uploaded that day, in the Instagram column what needs to be uploaded that day, etc.I tried to automate it but I'm completely lost 😞In addition, I want to create an automation that will know that if the tasks of that day have bee
Hey friends, maybe salvation will come from here.I try to do progress tracking for my students - that is, if a particular student wrote that they are "doing well" or "need help".Now - I want to find a way to tell Airtable to update the next empty column using an API CALL but I can't figure out how to do it.For example, in the picture I attached - if user1 called "זרם" gives his answer it will be updated in week3 but on the other hand if the other student writes any answer it will go into the week1 column.Does anyone have an idea?thankss
I'm currently facing an issue and would appreciate any insights you might have. Here's the situation:I have two tables: a main "Companies" table and an "Updates" table. In the "Companies" table, I've created a Linked Record field for the "Updates" table. My goal is to have a list of all updates for each company displayed in the "Companies" table.Previously, I had a setup where this worked. The ID field was structured as [Name of Company + Date], and it showed all the related Updates for each Company. However, in my new "Updates" table, the ID field is an Autonumber, and each record has a Link to the corresponding Company from the "Companies" table. With this new setup, the linked updates are not showing up in the main "Companies" table as they used to. I'm unsure if the change in the ID field structure could be causing this issue.(Snapshot of my previous setup for reference)How can I set this up? Is there any workaround? For context, the end goal is to be able to show a quick list of up
TLDR; how to I grant 'conditional' creator permissions within a paid workspace?I've built up some pretty robust Bases for my company to track our projects. We're using airtable as a stop gap solution on the way to a larger ERP software rollout. I built an interface for every department to use that allows them to view and update relevant information (process tracking, shipping address etc etc), and prevents them from viewing sensitive information (employee addresses etc etc). No one has access to the Base except for me, everything is done through the interfaces. All of this is happening through a paid PRO workspace, everyone with interface access is a billable collaborator on my workspace. It just so happens that we've hired a guy who's very fond of airtable and wants to build his own base for his own workflows, and sync a selection of my tables into his base. I'm fine with that, but I'm not sure how to grant him creator access to the workspace (thereby givi
Hello everyone,I'm looking to build a base to collect a long list of songs that our team members play during the day. A team member is a member of a group, and some groups have several members who play multiple songs during their work schedule. I have explored various solutions online, but it appears that the solution we need is more advanced.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Best regards
