Builders Board

Hello, I run a cabinet manufacturing company. We currently use printed out spreadsheets for everything. I would like a tidy database that could manage our “jobs”. I’ll try to outline how it would work here: We have multiple projects with multiple builders. Each project has multiple plans (Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 3) Each plan has multiple options (Door 1, 2, 3, Stain color 1, 2, 3, Optional Bath 3, etc.), each with an individual price, for which the price is split up by “material”, “stain”, “prefab door cost”, installation, delivery, tax, etc. For each phase of a project our sales reps will create a “sequence” which is a list of all the houses or “lots” with the associated plan number and all the associated options that were selected. Also for each phase our reps will turn in a “breakdown” that has a tally of all the units for that phase, and all the options for that phase. I would like a database in which we store all of our option prices by plan and project. Each price will be unique f
I would like to speak to a consultant to help me with an idea I have. I’d like to put a “Check your Order on AirTable” link on my WordPress site which, when checked, would prompt user to log on to AirTable and once that’s accomplished, take the customer to a read only view of their orders we populate by us in AirTable. Not sure it can even be done.
We need a developer to create an API to update my orders planning base. I have created an orders planning Base that does everything I want but updating it is a bit of a pain, copying and pasting from a spreadsheet. Please reply with any recommendations for people who can do this, or introducing yourself. Thanks! Lyndon
“This is the next big thing” That’s what one of our instructors literally said. And her job is to teach database design! My marketing coordinator is raving about it, and my admissions officer is already evangelizing it around the company. The biggest draw so far? The app and how it displays records, and how easy it is to add a new field. As the guy who has to choose which software we adopt, my sole criteria for buying an app is will everyone use it. Adoption is the problem that keeps me up at night. So far Airtable has cleared that bar.
We’re soon going to start planning a project to take our existing work with Airtable to the next level. We’re tracking a big amount of bases and we need to be able to centralize our operation a bit to save time and, most of all, sanity. We still have to sit down and define the scope of the project but would like to start conversations with professional developers with experience working wth Airtable API who would be interested in working on our project. Anybody interested? If so, please send me info on your background and skills and we’ll take it from there. Thanks!
If you are interested just send me a private message.
Hi, I’m interested in hiring an AirTable pro for a few hours of time. I have a major book launch and I’d like to make sure we are leveraging this wonderful platform well. Elizabeth Kanna
For most use cases, Airtable is easy enough to hit the ground running right away. But if you’re interested in building out more complicated workflows or integrations, there are consultants who can help! Please note that Airtable does not currently vet or recommend any particular consultants. It’s up to you to decide who to work with!
Hi everyone. I just posted about a technique that writers who use the popular Scrivener application can use to embed Airtable views directly into their Scrivener binders. It’s a great way for writers to do their research in Airtable and then refer to it without breaking their writing flow. Here’s the blog post: http://timdietrich.me/blog/airtable-views-in-scrivener-binders/ ~ Tim
Hello Airtable Community, I am a technically trained serviceman, who is currently employed as a maintenance guy with a myriad of assets that require on going responsibilities. I have a fuel inside of me to get all the scattered and tacit knowledge shoved into a database so I can have more time to spend on projects I enjoy. The Access relationship picture supplied was a work in progress. I was having a hard time with balancing certain things. I created 3 levels of “assets” Items, Assemblies and Parts. This is because I have equipment that has assemblies that can be replaced or repaired externally (OEM) but can be repaired in-house on a part level. Also, those assemblies can be taken off of one machine, repaired, then put back onto a different machine. The assembly level is also where any prototyping would occur when designing something with my 3d printer and trying it out. So any information about length of time in service would be important for a specific identifiable assembly. Parts l
Check out @Howie’s guest post on InfoWorld. Lots of great thoughts on the history of spreadsheets and databases, among other things: InfoWorld The next generation of spreadsheets will be a database Flexibility and ease of use have made the spreadsheet the popular but unfortunate choice for makeshift databases; we can do better
