Hi there - I am trying to learn airtable and zapier integration with this common test case - if a date is use, zap an email. Based on what I’ve read in the forum, to do that I need (1) to create a “view” report on airtable to list what’s due, (2) create a zap everytime a record is added on that airtable view, it push out an email. My questions, since Zap will execute when a new record is added on “view” will “it” work if I do not open my base table? “it” means will airtable update the “view” record daily even if I didn’t access (maybe bec I am on vacation for a week, and didn’t bring my laptop) the base table? If it does get updated automatically on the back-end, when does it get updated? Is it 1201 each morning? Is it batch mode? Just trying to figure out the update timing, so I know how best to use the integration with zap. Thank you.

I have a workspace collaborator that I want to make a base-only collaborator. If I delete them from the workspace, before adding them back to base only, will I lose their connections as Contributor in that base also be removed?

There is no way to updated existing contacts in Airtable with Google contacts via zapier. You need a “updated record” trigger in airtable. Without the ability to update existing contacts from airtable to google contacts then what does this mean from the airtable sales site: "Looking for a way to bulk manage your Google Contacts? “ Is the assumption here that no contact records are ever updated? what am i missing?

I have a list of video assets that I was originally tracking in Google Sheets. I have three sheets/tables- the first table has the main data and the following tables include tags for the videos. All the records on all three tables are the same, they just have different tags. I couldn’t link the records in Sheets and so I was manually updating the records with the tags. Now I’ve discovered Airtable and this would have made my life a million times easier. So, I need to convert those other tables into a new field and this will solve the issue of this table being too big (too many records). Because I was using Sheets, on the tags sheets, each tag is a column/field. It should just be 1 field that is multiple select that I just choose which tag applies to that video. I’ve converted one table to single select and fixed the labels, but now I need for those single select fields to all combine into one field that can become a linked record. Do I use rollup? I really don’t know what to

I have multiple affiliate links and descriptions that i would like to separate from their linked record. I’d like to have D1 (Description 1) and L1 (Affiliate Link 1) to be CONCATENATE(D1, L1) However, with the lookup field pulling in the affiliate descriptions and links, they are all listed as D1, D2, D3, etc. & L1, L2, L3, etc. How can i separate them from that list and pull them into another field for other use? While maintaining a correlation between D1 and L1 and D2 & L2, etc.

From what I understand Airtable advocates using as few tables as possible. I have also come to love the working with grouped and filtered fields in Airtable. Potentially this could make it easy to filter out empty records and use one table like a catchall that could be used for multiple purposes by grouping and filtering. But from my limited knowledge about databases and spreadsheets, I have the impression that you always should avoid empty anything. Is the best practice to avoid this in Airtable as well?

Is there any way to have a hierarchical structure in the organizational chart block that is more than 3 rows deep? I am building a family tree and I’d rather the org chart continue to build vertically instead of horizontally, but it seems to continuously lay out horizontally which is making some of the connections confusing to read.

Like the calendar view but if you introduce Gantt you could take Smartsheet out of the market :slightly_smiling_face: until then they have an edge over you!!! As an interim to full Gantt view could you show tasks with a start and end date as a span e.g. multi days rather than start date only?

Hello, I’m wondering if there’s a way to change single select option automatically. To give a context, we have two tables in a base, one for Sales and one for Inventory. The Inventory table contains both available and sold items. We’ve linked the sheets and used lookup to populate Sales data from Sales sheet in the fields in Inventory sheet (such as Order ID, Order Date, buyer info, etc.) I want the Single select field to change from Available to Sold, lets say when there’s an Order ID for a record. Is there a way to do this, maybe using the scripting block or any other Airtable features. Thanks!

Hi, I’ve been trying to visualize data in blocks using charts and was wondering if there’s a way to add data labels to these charts. For example, if I make a pie chart, is there a way to mention percentages on the chart. At the moment I only see the percentage when I hover the mouse on the chart. (see image)

Hi there, Is there a way to use the Scripting Block to get a download url of the “print” button from the Page Designer block into a record? I’m looking for a way to get the Page Designer pdf into a record. I’m only using the mobile app but I would love to download a pdf from the page designer block from a record.

I would like to have a field in my table that shows the URL for each of the records so that this can easily be added to an email in a mail merge. I realize that I can copy the URL for any record and then paste it into the URL field that has been to the table, but there must be a simple way to just display the record URL. Thanks, Mike Morse

When adding/ editing information in a linked record, a lot of unnecessary details are displayed, which are confusing. Can I “simplify” the view by just displaying the main field value, but not all the additional fields? I only want the field value (in large letters), but not all the related values (i.e. in the image, I want to hide all the information in the red boxes). How can I do it?

I have created custom blocks for my base and shared the base to anyone with the link (with a read only). However it is showing “This block is disabled” for custom blocks. Regular blocks are shown but not custom blocks. Please see attachment

My current Gallery view prints three records on a page (because it can technically fit three to a page). How do I set it up to print one record per page?

Hello: I have a multiple select field with one or more dates. I want to count the number of dates and then filter the people with with 2 or more. I also want to eliminate people with whom we have not had contact with in more than 2 months? In if statement? if so how? Thanks for your help.

I swear I read somewhere recently that we could choose to make out account public, I think so other users could look at it for ideas or AirTable could look at it for research or something, and in exchange we’d be able to upgrade for free, but now I can’t find that information anywhere. Does anyone else remember reading something like this?

I am a consultant and was very hopeful that I could use airtable to build a solution for a client to replace their access database that had two tables in it. I have now pretty much given up on using AirTable but thought I’d ask in case I am overlooking some feature that could make this work. My client has 10 users that modify data, and 300 that look at the data. The people doing the looking never edit, but they would need to be able to change the sort order of the views, and ideally resize columns and filter what is in the views. This does not seem to be possible if they are “readonly” users. I don’t see any “Blocks” that support this either. So it appears the only option would be to make all those 300 users “commenters”. But that has two big problems. The first is that they don’t want to spend the additional $6,000 per month (300 users * 20 each) to support that - we can make other solutions much cheaper. The second is, even if they did pay, every user still has to c

I have tables “customers” “orders” and “products” Products has a multiple choice for product type. Orders is linked to the customer and the product with a date. I am looking for a solution to find the last time a product was ordered by a client in an overview/ filter/ group. Example: Product Type A “customer” “product name” “order id” “order date” “customer” “product name” “order id” “order date” Product Type B “customer” “product name” “order id” “order date” I would love to hear some ideas or if you know anywhere else in the form where it is discussed. Hello, I’m attempting to use airable to manage a tag filtering system that feeds into a 3rd party database for my job. Problem is that multiple select tags seem to add an arbitrary space when converted to a string. This effectively eliminates its usefulness as our system cannot parse it. Example: Is there any easy way to get around this? Perhaps an extra formula step to remove the space after each comma? Thank you in advance!
