Hi,I would like to trigger an automation with a button in a list interface. That's not possible, but how then to handle the following?The listing groups all records (projects) into several buckets. The user can choose which bucket to list with a dropdown filter element. After finding the right selection, I'd like for the user to trigger an automation for that selection. The automation will (loop and) send out an e-mail to and update some fields for all the listed projects.Is there some clever workaround that could be used?Rgds,Björn

There's an AT script called "find & replace."  That's great - but how about if instead I find a string of text in a field, copy what follows up until a find another string of text (/BeginAddress Name, Street, City, Zip /EndAddress), then paste that stuff into a different field?  The point is to take an email before forwarding it into AT, place /BeginWhatever at the front of what you want to copy, place /EndWhatever at the end of it, then when the new record is created in AT, have an automation run that script to grab what's between the "markers," and paste it into another field in that or a different table - like "Address" for example.  So, for example, I can mark an address anywhere in an email chain, forward it into AT, and have the script extract what I really want from it and put it where I want it to go.  And then maybe delete that forwarded email.I want to think that the "find & replace" script could easily be modified to "find, copy, and pas

There are times when I need a data field to be "Required".   Otherwise, data quality issues are introduced. When this is needed, usually the data field must always be "Required" (Use Case #1).  There are also times when a data field needs to be "Required" only conditionally (Use Case #2), based on a value present in another data field within the record.  What I have observed:Airtable supports Use Case #1 during data creation via the Interface Creation Form, but not during a data update.  I can delete the data in a "required" data field, subsequently in the same interface.Airtable doesn't support Use Case #1 at the table/view level.  It can't be specified when defining a column.Regarding Use Case #2, "Conditionally Required" enforcement is not supported, either at the table/view level or within an interface.  Am I missing something?  Please let me know if there is another means to enforce these rules.

I’m new to Airtable, and have been browsing the help center and playing around with the features. One thing I didn’t see mentioned anywhere was input validation. For instance, for a numeric field requiring the value to be less than, greater than, or between values-- as an age field which must be 21 or greater. Or a date field which must not be a future date. Or a currency field limited to 10000. An so on. How would these be done in Airtable ?

Is there a way to put edit-checks or validations on a field? I’d like to restrict the range of numeric values that can be input to a numeric field.

Hi, I have some scripts that do data-validation over all the records in a view before moving them into a new view. Would it be possible to display a progress bar in the scripting app to indicate how long a process should take. Thanks in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

I posted in the ideas about my desire to have Page Designer integrated with the Interface Designer. I would like the employees at my company to be able to work within the Interface and generate letters for our clients through PDFs that are exported to the desktop.I know there are so many third party solutions to document generation, but I was wondering if it is possible to create a script that would be activated by a button in the interface to generate a letter that will save to the users desktop using one of the third party solutions.A click to download letter button.   

I’m doing a deep software selection and i’ll evaulated a lot of other software like airtable, and i have to say that Airtable is what i can say the best in class if we consider the 90% of the use cases our company needs. What it seems to lack, but i cannot realize it clearly (it seems to me so fool) that its not possible to do data validation. Let’s say a simply use case: I want my collegues to fill in the hours spent on various task (not in real time with the time track app, but simply at end of the day or of the week). In airtable is simple: new grid, i add a column TIME SPENT of type INTERVAL and i’m lost? i can i force to insert only an x number 0 < x < 8 ? i dont want to let them fill in a WRONG record and with automations try to send email, rewrite numbers or other thing: simply to forbid a wrong insert if it does not respect the restriction rule. I’m not sure it is not possible, but i’ve invested a lot of days of study and i only found workarounds. It looks very strange t

If I have fields in a table with specific types why doesn’t the form validate those types before submitting the data? There seems little point in specifying a field type of email if someone can enter whatever they like into the form. I realize that client-side form validation is non-trivial but there at least some native browser validations that could be implemented fairly easily.

Hey Community! Here’s my problem: I have users adding phone numbers to records. Problem is, the way the are inputting records doesn’t allow me to have Data validation. I need the number they input in a specific format, and I was hoping there might be a formula that could do this. Format we need: 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX Inputs we might get (because users make mistakes) = 1 xxx xxx xxxx xxx xxx xxxx xxxxxxxxxx 1 (xxx) xxx xxxx (xxx) xxx xxxx What is important for us is there is the area code, aka, a “1” at the front of every number. I was thinking about creating a formula that adds a “1” at the start, but in the circumstances where a user does what we want, and adds a “1”, I don’t want to add it as it’d break it. Does anyone know how to put a formula together that’ll do this? PS, Bonus points if you can ensure it looks “pretty” by formatting it in this way: 1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX

Is there a way to enforce data validation on a field? For example, if I want to enforce users to enter a name under 20 characters or less, can I do that?

Hello,I'm using the Map & Data Validator extensions, which allow me to view and validate my fields respectively. I'm also developing an interface so that I can share the application without users having to use the database directly, and so that I don't have to show all the records.My first question is: Is it possible to include the map extension display in my interface? If so, how? I've seen on other forums that this wasn't possible, but perhaps a feature for this has now been added?My second question is about the Data Validator extension, which only validates data when it's added from the record creator form available from the extension window. Is it possible, for example, to validate data entered from forms in my interface?

Hi guys,I'm creating a escape room form, so the group can select the room and time they want to play.There are 3 rooms (each one with 5 different times to play).When a group select the room/time (example: Room 1 - 20h) this room can't appear on the form anymore.How can I do that?I read in other message here to create a new table with all the possibilities (I already did that), and created a link to another record in the main table (which is used to create the form).I tested it but it didn't work.If anyone could help me, I appreciate it! I have some equipment inspection checklists that I am trying to move from paper to Airtable, and I was wondering if there was a way that I could convert it into a fillable PDF and put it in an Airtable form. The employees fill out these checklists when they’re at worksites, and the office is out of their way, so the forms don’t get dropped off as soon as we’d like. What I am hoping to do is have the employees fill out the PDF in the form, then have the PDF saved to the base as an attachment so that we get the forms as soon as they’re finished, and it’s easier for everyone at the worksites. I already tried converting the checklists to Airtable forms, but there are just too many checkboxes that would each need their own field, and it would just end up being too inconvenient to fill out and sort through. I also tried using the attachment field in a form, but this would require the PDF to be filled out in a different app (or scanned), then saved, and then submitted through the form, which

there are so many options out there, but I have our employees work exclusively out of the Interface Designer.  What is the best options out there (affordable or free) to generate letters at a click of a button?  

I've created a button that links to a script. The script duplicates the line where the button sits and duplicates linked records housed in another table. However, the script crashes seven out of ten times. Is there any way to mitigate this? Is it my internet connection? I'm tearing my hair out as it's almost quicker to manually go around all tables and duplicate records and wire them back up by hand 😧

Imagine you have set a rule that your kids are only allowed 2 cookies from the jar when they get home from school. They have access to the cookie jar (a particular table), but they can only have 2 cookies (2 records per day). When they try to take a 3rd cookie they will be blocked, and redirected to a different page.How would one do this with AirTable? We have tried doing it from the UI in Softr, but this requires us to update the UI when users in the kids group have taken 2 cookies, which is a little tricky to get right. It would be much better if this limit could be implemented on the server side, in AirTable, somehow.Any thoughts anyone, please?

I have master blocks of code in my code table.in another table - main table -I wish to get data from a field in the code table by specifying it’s rec ID. I will then combine this code with other data from the main table. I can do this with a linked table but it requires that the user must remember to select a record every time a new record is added in the main table and since there is no default for linked record, I cannot find a way of using linked records.i was hoping to create a formula that did this get(field.codeTable(recID))I could put the actual field data from the record in code table directly into a formula but then every time my code is updated rather than update the code table code I have to remember to do this elsewhere.any help much appreciated, perhaps a script?

Hello,I am building a project management tool and want to send daily messages to the users on late tasks, upcoming etc...to do so, I have created my automation as follow: The idea is to run automation everyday, look for all users from a table 'participants', and for each one of them search for late tasks assigned to them. Generate an email and send it to each recipient. (I don't want to generate 1 email per late task.... too many messages)This works great as is, except that if there is nothing late in the queue for a user, he will still get an email with an empty table...anybody has a solution to add a condition on this automation?thanks!

Hey there, I'm stuck at this point and really hope some expert could help me out. As a language center, we collect payments from the students in phases. We have a "master" table including students' information, I then sync the view to another base for payment tracking. I really want to keep using that "synced view" for accounting purpose, because then I don't have to type in the whole list of names again. In another way, I want to keep the information consistent and save time from creating and updating many lists for different departments in the company. However, for the accounting base, I can't add rows below each student's name (as it is a synced view!) to track their different payments (divided  into 4). I had to track those veritically (adding columns instead of rows) and this causes some inconveniences. I want to filter the Data by status, for example "Due soon" or "Overdue" and see the sum of the amount of money we expect  to collect in the future, but the cur
