Hi, I’ve been using Airtable to manage and automate registrations for events. I set automation to confirm the registration. The trigger was a “When a record is created”, i.e. when someone completed the registration form. After the event, I did not switch the automation off, and I inserted a new column into the same sheet to indicate who participated in the event (checkbox). Problem: Registered people who could not participate at the event complained about receiving my automated message confirming his/her registration after the event a second time. Previously, I assumed a record was when someone completed my form. Please help me to understand what happened. If the inserted new column was a new record/trigger, why only just a part of registered people received the automated? With thanks

I have two bases that use automations. In both cases I have problems with the automations triggering. In the first case the automation triggers for some things but not others. I believe that there may be a cascading automations problem in the first case, but I don’t know how to space things out enough to get all the automations to work correctly. In the case of the other problem automation it just never triggers, and it may be suffering from a semantics argument. The records are created by an outside automation (the record is being copied over from another base) but I’m only watching the relevant field for updates. I view that as an updated record because the record has to be created first, then that information is copied over, but is it still considered a created record and I need a separate automation for updated records? my use case is very simple I want to invoke a REST API on every trigger of Record Created and Updated .(Whenever new record is added in Sheet or existing record is updated ) I should be able to read all the column data of a created / updated row and pass it to my API payload as a POST request Thanks

I have created 2 google worksheet automations. They test well and were working successfully. They have just stopped working but still test OK. I am on the free Plan. Can anyone help me?

I have an airtable table that I have automated into a Google sheets sheet, and then have that google sheets sheet copying info to another google sheet using the =Sheetname!cell number formula, but nothing appears when I have the airtable automated data in there, only when I type it manually into the google sheet. How can I fix this? is the data formatted differently when it comes from Airtable, or does the google sheet not recognize it is there or something in order to add it to the second sheet?

Here is my basic situation: I use airtable to manage events - each record has a specific date and time associated I have a limited number of staff - each record can only be assigned to one staff member within a given time frame (staff are not able to overlap their events) Is it possible to create an automation that creates a calendar event when I reach 75% of my staffing capacity? From what I can tell, I can only create an automation based on individual records. I am envisioning an automation along the lines of: “When number of unassigned staff at a given time falls below 10, create an event in GCal” Any other creative ways to approach this would be super helpful. Maybe there is an app that would be more appropriate. Thanks in advance!

I would like to build a pricing tool script that allows me to provide a few inputs, and then the script would calculate the price based on a series of calculations that run in the background. This is a for a trucking company whose job is to haul materials from the customer to a processing location. Each processing location charges a different rate to process the hauled materials. Hello, I’m not a developer, but I’m trying to work on an automation using scripts that will take the inputed “Current Monthly Image/File count” number and add it the “2021 Image count” total for every record in my table. Every month someone else inputs the number of images captured by a photographer in “Current Monthly Image/File count” and I want to add that number to the annual image count in the “2021 Image count” field. I have an automation based on a record entering a view. When I’m actively in the app, the record moves into the view and the automation is triggered. However, it seems if I’m away or off of my computer, the automation is not working. The view filter is based on a date/time calculation (record moves into the view when it’s within 10 minutes of the scheduled time). Any ideas? Should the automations be working automatically in the background or do I need to be logged in and using Airtable for them to trigger?

Hello, I created a field with a complex formula based on other field’s values. When this field is 0 (False) or 1 (True), I am showing them in a separate view via a filter on the view. When there is a new entry in the view based on this field being 1 (True), I am sending an action to Slack. Yet, sometimes when we see the notification on Slack, I check the view and there is no entry at all. We are suspecting that, when you paste a value to any field which is referenced inside the formulated, the formula gets updated for the slight of a second and then enters the view. Is there any thing I am missing here? A possible approach to fix this issue? Thanks.

Community experts, Sorry for the long title. I am very new to coding of any kind and without the community I would have never gotten this far. Basically, I have a synced table in my base and I have a automation script to link the records based on a field, “Part Number” in one table and “Part#” in the other. The trigger for the automation is “When a record enters a view”. I am linking the record in the synced table, Orders, to the Inventory table. I have table ‘Submissions’ that records each item submitted by users. Each entry has the Username of the user who submitted, and a Points value according to the Type of item submitted. I need to aggregate the Points for each user in a separate table. The other table is ‘User Points Table’ and so far I have had to establish the links to ‘Submissions’ manually. ‘User Points’ has one line for each Username and column for Submissions (linked to each entry for that Username in the Submissions table) and one for Score, which is a Rollup of the Points field from the Submissions table. Hi All, I’m looking for a simple/elegant solution for a formula/script that will produce what I’m looking for. I have a text field (it will have a maximum of 9 ALPHA (uppercase only) characters in it. I’m looking for a solution that will perform the following functions. a. If a character is contiguous to itself if will count the total contiguous characters and place the number followed by the character. For example if the text field was PPPPP I would get a result of 5P. b. If a character has no contiguous matches then the result would just be the characters as shown. For example QRSTUV would give a result of QRSTUV. c. Combining these two rules together if we were to have RRQRRRQS the result would be 2RQ3RQS. I’m trying to accomplish the following: Create a record in Table A Create a new linked record in Table B (junction table) Search for a record in table C bases on a field in Table A Enter a value from the record found in Table C to the record created in Table B (step 2) I’ve experimented enough to know Step 2 can be done with an Automation, but I suspect the whole workflow will require scripting. Something like this would be fairly easy in FileMaker Pro and I’m hoping the same is true for Airtable.

I am using an automation to send a weekly update to the team on sales performance. Right now I have a basic automation that pulls all new records for the week, and puts it into an email as a grid. I am able to find the total number of unique sales but pulling the length of the grid, however, I cannot have sum the sales amount column. Could I write a script that would take all the new records for the week and sums sales column? I was the script and I was able to pull in the column from previous step results, but SUM was note a supported function in the script editor, nor did it recognize my pulled value. Any help? I have a table that get’s updated with external date via zapier. One of the columns it updates is called ‘Shipping Country’, it get’s updated with a two latter country code, there’s another empty column ‘Shipping Country - Full Name’. I have a different table, on the same base that has 2 column and over 200 rows. of country code in the first column, and full country name in the second column. I’d like that when a country gets populated in the ‘Shipping Country’ column, It triggers an action that populates the ‘Shipping Country - Full name’ column with the country’s full name, either using the country code table, or manually setting 200+ actions and triggers. Hi there, I’m read lots of topics here on updating single select fields in Airtable, but none through Airtable Automations. My input is a formula that generates a status (UPCOMING, IN PROGRESS, SENT) and the desired output is to copy this value in a single select field (UPCOMING, IN PROGRESS, SENT). I’ve tried to run this via Airtable Automations with different triggers (When a record matches condition, when a record is created and when a record is updated) but none seems to work effectively even though the run history tells me the run was successful. Seems fairly easy and yet do not understand what does not work in my automation. Anyone out there has already done this?

Hi community, I have the following problem and my solution doesn’t work Could you share your advice, please? I have an automation that delivers a date field in the following format YYYY-MM-DD. However, this is not useful for EU users so I tried to change the format by creating a new formula field that converts the date information to the format I want. The problem is that in Gmail automation that sends the mail with information, the new field (with formula) is blank… What could I do about it? Thanks

I have 3 tables: Table 1 = Customer Service Table 2 = BackOrders & Dropshipments Table 3 = On Hold Orders Tables 2 and 3 are pulling data from an external system - any order flagged for one of these statuses in the external system is populated in this Table. The Primary field is the Order Number for these tables. Table 1 is attempting to pull data from Tables 2 and 3 based on Order Number. The idea is that when a record is created in Table 1 with an Order Number, it will search Tables 2 and 3 to see if there is an existing record. Another automation pulls the Order Number “Name” to Lookup Fields for Tables 2 and 3 so the Order Number only needs to be entered once. If a record exists, its name should be entered, if a record does not exist, it should remain blank. Part 1 works but we are facing the issue of a new record being created in Table 2 and 3 when the Order Number is not found. I can’t seem to find a way to prevent the creation -

Hi, This seems really basic, so I’m probably just missing something simple, but I can’t seem to figure it out/find the answer, so hoping someone can help me. :] I’m trying to create an automation that sends a welcome email to folks when they sign up for membership with my org/when their record is created in our base. I created a Send an Email automation that works, but I need it to send to the new member’s email address, and I’m only getting the option of sending the email to a pre-existing record: Is there a way for me to select the Primary Email field, instead of an existing record? So that the email goes to the new member? I hope that’s clear. Thank you!

Hi, I’m not super tech savvy, so I’m just wondering if this would be possible through Automations: I make an appointment in Google Calendar to meet with a client. The title of the google calendar event will include this client’s name. When Airtable ‘sees’ that I’ve made a Google Calendar event that matches this criteria (event title includes word “client name”), it can pull the date of that meeting and put it in a column I identify (Next Meeting). TIA!

Heya, Would anyone know if we can setup automated notifications to pre-assigned individuals based on dates? For instance, If I have entered a subscription that’s due to expire, I’d like the individual (who is in charge of the subscription) to receive a notification on a set date prior to the expiry date to check with him/ her if the subscription should be renewed or cancelled.
