Hi, I wasn’t able to find in the support the answer to an automation question, hoping someone can help me understand. I notice that if I trigger when a record is updated and I have it set to do so in a specific to a view. If the field being watched to trigger the automation is updated outside of that view the automation doesn’t trigger. Is this correct? I was hoping to have the automation only happen to selected few records (in a filtered view) that get updated with certain information (updated from a different view). Not sure if this can be done now, or am I missing something here? Thanks for some insight!
My table has primary “Date” field and a “Next Date” field that uses WORKDAY({Date},3). When a record enters the “Done” view, the automation is set up to create a new record using the “Next Date” as the “Date” for the new record. It runs fine, but the “Date” field for the newly created record is blank. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Hi, Is there a script that can create a simple calculation with a time stamp balance. Like for example in my Airtable, I had a Payment and the Remaining balanced. In every entry, I would like to see the balanced stamp with Payment- Remaining balance equal. So I can see the Balanced Stamp on every entry. Basically like excel when every row has a different balance base on Payment. Thank you
Dear Everyone! This is my problem: I have cell1, cell2, cell3 and cell4. In cell5 I use CONCATENATE to bring the content of cells1-4 in one text and it is working. I want to use the content of cell5 as part of an email body with an outlook email automation but whenever I run the tests, only the content of cell1 appears in the body of the produced email. Remark: these text are long long strings. Anyone has any kind of solution or idea for this issue? I tried CONCATENATE, I tried “&” I get the same results: In cell5 everything appears as it should. In the email only the content of cell1 appears. I even created the test where I added cell1 cell2 cell3 cell4 in the body of the email and the result is the same. I have alot of columns and these are the last 5 columns of my table. Thank you for all the help. -A
I’ve seen a couple of postings that sort of sound similar so apologies if this is elsewhere and I couldn’t find it! I have a table, “Requests”, that is filled in by a form. When a new record comes in, an admin will review the submission and then check a box to trigger a welcome email. I’d like to be able to attach a PDF (always the same PDF) in the welcome email. I don’t want to pull this PDF from each record because that will eat away at our space (and because it’s always the same PDF), so I’ve placed this PDF in another table (called “Resources”) in the same base. I’ve set up an automation that: Triggers when an admin checks the “Send Welcome Email” box in the “Requests” table Does a “Find Records” on the “Resources” table to find the attachment I want But I think this method is failing because it sees it purely as a reference and not as the actual PDF. If I don’t want to use a third party app like Zapier, and I don’t want to embed a link to the PDF in the body of the email, is
Hi, we have created survey’s within our base and then embedded those onto our website, but we aren’t receiving any notifications when someone submits a survey. Has anyone found a way to automate that? Notifications are all turned on but we still aren’t receiving any notifications. Thoughts?
Hi there, I’ve built a number of automations using the “Find records” step. Sometimes that step returns 0 records; other times, that step returns 1 record. The problem is that the next step after “Find records” will assume at least 1 record is returned and then proceed to generate an error if the input is 0 records. I’d like to either be able to: Add some sort of condition logic for the follow-on step to “skip” or “ignore” when “Find records” returns 0 records -OR- Just have any errors thrown by the follow-on step be ignored entirely from my Notifications view: As it stands right now, the “Find records” step is woefully inadequate for production purposes.
Hello, I want to add a condition in “Find records” but somehow nothing get added when I choose it. I can only add field which show me the “Insert” button. With the other option I can only press “continue” until I have no option anymore. Can anyone tell me how to add those value fields or tell my why it won’t work? Thanks in advance, Sebastian
Hello So I created a button that when clicked it runs a script and the script connects to a webhook and sends some fields to the webhook. But I added an input field at the beginning. First it asks your to input some text, and then send all the information to a webhook but have no idea how to send the input text. I appreciate your help. This is the code: let name = await input.textAsync(‘Escribe aqui la tarea’); output.text(Your name is ${name}.); // Webhook URL let webhook = ‘httpsWebhookURL’ // Airtable Script Button Text let actionDescription = ‘Creando una tarea de esta integracion’ // Table to send data from let tableName = ‘Interacciones’ // Fields to bind and send let fieldsToSend = [‘Descripcion’, ‘Compañia’] // !--------------------! // let table = base.getTable(tableName); let record = await input.recordAsync(actionDescription, table); let queryParams = /?id=${record.id} if(fieldsToSend.length > 0){ function buildParams(fieldName) { let fieldValue = record.getCellValueAsStr
I am trying to set up an automation so that when I tick a checkbox in one record, it updates a status field in the same record - I must be missing something in the help files as for the life of me I can’t find how to do this. Any help much appreciated!
Hi everyone, This might be a scripting question, but thought it couldn’t hurt to ask. I have a table in which certain records operate in a somewhat-grouped manner by nature of Year # and Number of Years fields (ie. if Number of Years = 3 there would be three total records with 1, 2, and 3 as the Year #. Is there a way to create an automation so that when say, the Year # = 1, Number of Years = 3 record is made two duplicates that are identical except for the Year # are made? It seems theoretically possible to do through going to the Create record automation and manually bringing forth each duplicated field and then adding an update automation, but I have to think there’s an easier way. Thanks so much!
Hello! Instead of just a markdown rtf when automating gmail sending out emails, is it possible to copy paste gmail templates for the automated sendings? or anyway to include graphics in the email content. Thanks!
I’m trying to ingest a new user registration (password’s being handled separately). I want to make sure that the new registration does not use an email address already in the DB (prevent duplicate accounts–ideally even if they’re using “+variable” in something like a gmail address). I’m currently using automations, but I can’t seem to get around the “Find Records Action 0 results stops the automation” flow. I actually want to update the record AFTER a Find Records determines there aren’t any duplicates. I’m not using scripting – “Plus” account level and coming in from the #nocode crowd. Here’s the where I am thus far: Automation 1: WHEN: a record is created in Ingest Users Table ACTIONS: Find Records in Active Users Table where email = [new record email] Update Record (that was created) → set Duplicate = true [I would IDEALLY be able to handle Find Records = 0 results with an Update Records → set Unique = true, then have a When Record Enters View that copies the Ingest User record to
Can airtable capture the record ID if it’s embedded in the URL?
I am using Automations to send an email confirming a lunch reservation. My problem is that the resulting email double-spaces everything I send and it looks funny - especially in the salutation lines. What can I do to control the spacing? Sylvie
I’m from the UK, I want to store contacts including their post code. I want to somehow have the table display the area in which the contact lives based off the first part of their postcode. So for example if I have John Smith who lives in PL5 9KG, I want a formula to display only the ‘PL5’ part of his postcode, and then somehow have the next field then look this PL5 up in another table and then display ‘PLYMOUTH’. This would need to work for other, longer post codes too like PL21 or TR58. I already have the formula "LEFT(Postcode,4) to get the first 4 characters of the postcode field (Including the space if it’s only 3 characters at the start), but that’s as far as I have got. I have looked at various threads on here but can’t seem to work it out!
I have table that’s been in use and now I need to simply flag a record with a single check box. I have a automation to do this and new records get the check as desired. How the heck to I get the automation to run against the existing records?
Hey there – I’m trying to set up an automation that does the following: Iterate through the rows in an Airtable view For each row, post a Slack message to a different Slack channel using text from that row. The name of the Slack channel is a field in the view. Ideally, this workflow would be triggered at a set time every week (eg. Mondays at 9am). For context, each row contains information about a specific customer account and I’m hoping to share that information in the associated Slack channel. Wondering what the best approach for this is? Is there some combination of automations/scripts that you’d recommend to get this set up? From what I’ve been able to figure out so far, I would have to set up separate automations individually for each row/channel.
I have created an weekly triggered automation I want to call the Airtable Form Designer App, that i have installed on dashboard. This App is configured to create a well formatted document using a filtered table view. I am aware that i could create an email action in my automation, however the email options are Grid or List which is not formatted. Please advise thanks
I am trying to use the automation to auto rotate the options for every new record. possible? thank you so much
I am currently trying to create an automation email sequence - every time a record changes to a particular single select option, an email is automatically sent. Most fields I want to use work, however I cannot get attachment to work or look up fields that I have in there. I’ve tried changing the information, refreshing, and changing the file type for the attachment. However, it just shows up blank in the tests.
Hello, sometimes airtable automations return bad input variables after changing record input value. I changed DESIGN_STATUS to Needs fixing, and Customer_status field changed to Waiting via automation. But my code says that when status become Needs fixing, it need to do other thing. Its happens very rarely. This is my code problem or air table ? What I need to do ? My code: let data = input.config(); let table = await base.getTable('Orders V3'); let view = await table.getView("FULL ORDER LIST AUTOMATIONS"); if(data.Design_status == "Needs fixing"){ await table.updateRecordAsync(data.RecordId, {"Customer_status": {"name": "Needs revisions"}}); } else if(data.Design_status == "Supervisor approved"){ //Time to send reminder const sending_time = new Date( Date.now() + 2 * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000 ) var dd = String(sending_time.getDate()).padStart(2, '0'); var mm = String(sending_time.getMonth() + 1).padStart(2, '0'); var yyyy = sending_time.getFullYear(); var today = mm + '/' +
Hi folks, I have two tables and am trying to automatically link them with a script. In this example people apply via an airtable form with a text based “parter code” field. There is a partners table where each partner has a multiple select field that contains all of their partner codes. Table 1: Applicants Field: Partner Code (text) Field: Referring Partner (linked field) Table 2: Partners Field: Partner Codes (multiple select) Field: Applicants using Partner Code (linked field) Here is what I have so far, based on modifying the scripts of others: //Define the Partners table and query let partnersTbl = base.getTable("Partners"); let partnersQuery = await partnersTbl.selectRecordsAsync(); //Define Applicants table and query let applicantsTbl = base.getTable("Applicants"); let applicantsQuery = await applicantsTbl.selectRecordsAsync(); //Loop through the records and find the Partner Code for (let record of partnersQuery.records) { let partnercode = record.getCellValue("Partner Code
Hello Everyone, I schedule content releases for our media vendors through our Website, We change the release date a lot according to delivery factors, like Dubbing/ Subing / Pandemic delivery circumstances. Our Marketing team needs to see any updates happens if any changes happened in the release date, but also needs to see the old value of the release date, so they need to trigger an email once a release date has been changed, also include the old release date inside the same email. Is there a way I can automate a copy of each older release date to the field ( Old Release Date ) let’s say my initial release date is 16/05/2021, Old release date is empty or the same as the release date The new release date is: 18/5/2021 old release date is: 16/05/2021 again, a newer release date is 20/05/2021 old release date is: 18/05/2021, and so on. I have a Pro Airtable account and Zapier as well, Can I automate this somehow? Thank you guys for your time, appreciate it
Reaching out to this amazing community again… I have read/watched the help topics on this, and I can not get it to work. I want to send an email when the “category” of a horse changes from Vet Hold to Under Evaluation - most importantly, I need to include the name of the horse. For some reason, no matter what horse I move from Vet Hold to Under Evaluation, the system populates the email with the same horse “Hawkeye” every time. This seems like the most basic automation based on the other questions out there - can anyone provide advice? Humbly (as this exercise has definitely humbled me), Katherine
