Base Design

Hi all, I’m currently trying to build a base that will allow me to segment a customer list based on they product they have purchased as well as whether they have purchased the same product multiple times within a variable timeframe. Data will be updated in the table via csv upload on a periodic basis. I am trying to figure out the best way to arrange the table structure. I have included an example base. The ‘Product ID’ field would be the one for tracking the purchase behavior. I’m happy to read up on other previous posts, but don’t really know what to even be looking for here. Thanks in advance for any help!

I am new to Airtable but am very familiar with MS Access and other relational DBs, but am having a hard time joining two tables on an ID column. I’ve gone through the tutorials provided by Airtable but still it is not making sense. Is it possible to simply create a view to include all data from two tables, by joining on the ID column that is identical in both tables?

Hey guys, made the shift over to air table from the good old days of microsoft access, but I am having troubles with an ingredient/inventory tracker I’m making. Essentially: I need a table called ‘Ingredients in Stock’ each record is an ingredient and the first field is an amount calculated from another table of order amounts, ie: when the order form is filled out for a certain ingredient, the first field in the in stock table is populated with the logged amount ordered. All good so far. No I have another side to the system where there’s recipes, with gram amounts for each ingredient and a log every time a recipe is made. Every time a recipe is made, I need the ingredient gram amounts in the recipe logged to populate another field in the in stock table to track the amount used. Then I would be making another field which subtracts amount used from amount ordered. So the question is: best way to set up each recipe? All recipes in one table, with the ingredient

If possible, how would Airtable be used to sort & feed records to a site’s search engine?

Good Morning everyone, I work in a nursing home and was asked to look into a program that we would be able to document Activity attendance and then create a chart/file on the individual resident with the data we received. I created a form that the staff uses to do the documentation but now I am lost with how to link each resident to the data we have. My main goal is when a staff member plugs into the form that Jane Doe in room ### played Bingo on this day and have that info go straight into Jane Doe’s file. So when the Department of Health comes to evaluate residents I can pull up individual residents and they can see all the activities that they participated in, in one file no digging and sorting to go through. Sorry if this all seems scattered and confusing. I have a reading log base that I’ve adapted from the ‘Book catalog’ template. I have 4 tables: Titles, Authors, Narrators, Pseudonyms. I couple of things I’m not sure how to do are: Link pseudonyms to authors/narrators without having multiple records (see Cornell Collins/Matthew Lloyd Davies in the screenshot) Log re-reads by date (like you can in Goodreads) without creating additional records for a title. At the moment I have the following fields: Date started; Date finished. I don’t want to overwrite these fields every time I re-read as one of my aims with the log is to record how many books I’ve read in a year (and re-reads count). Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, how can I create a sidepanel/sitebar/menu like you see on the picture?

I am scheduling weekly covid tests and there are different testing schedules. I want to automatically scheduled the next test based on their schedule. So I mark a record that a test has been taken (check box), I want a formula to check their testing status (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), and automatically create a new record with the next test date. I can do certain days out, for weekly schedules, DATEADD({Test Date}, 7, ‘DAY’) but not sure how to make it day of the week specific. I have a multiple select field that is dedicated to the days of the week they are testing, but I can change their field if there’s a field type that works better

Hey People, i`m facing a problem i cant solve :frowning: I want to calculate Taxes in my Base. Ive got a checkbox called - SOLD A base which is called - Bought from Private (BFP) A Base called - Kommission A field which hold the SALES A Field which hold the amount of the kommission A Field which hold the amount how much i paid for the article. So i want to do this: IF(SOLD, AND (BFP) -> calculate (SALES-Bought for)/11919, IF(SOLD, AND KOMMISSION -> calculate (SALES-KOMMISSION)/11919) I cant find a solution to make the formulawork … Thank you very much!!!

Just recently I, as the Owner, and other simple “viewers” cannot scroll down or sideways when using an ipad. I see others have posted here but, I don’t see a solution. Is here a work-around? For me, this seems to be a new problem. Thanks!

In one of my tables I have 400+ fields (columns) with many different views configurations. Adding new field anywhere in the current view will not automatically show up in the same order in other views (sometimes it even shows as hidden) and mostly will be added at the end as the last field in the other views. You can copy the field order from one view to another, but sometimes it doesn’t work because the views are so different and each view may have a different field order (means in order to bring a new field to front, I will need to copy another view field order and overwrite a particular view). So the only way to get new fields around is by moving them either through the table or using the Hide Field drop down menu. I just want to share another way I found. If there are 100’s of fields in a table and I several new fields to move to different locations in different views do this: Create a copy of your specific view… Then do Hide all fields and Show only:

For every column in my airtable I want to randomly move the elements in it. The elements are words and I have tried sorting and that obviously sorts and moves the whole row, which is not what I want. I want to disaffiliate the values within rows (so that the whole row doesn’t move) and randomly change their place within the column. How would i do this? Thanks! ex. How can I export a table with the ROW ID #?

I made this nested structure of linked tables: 1. Annual Goals 1.1. Quarterly Goals 1.1.1. Monthly Goals 1.1.1.1. Weekly/ Daily I expected that I could add an item to any linked table field, and the item would inherit all its up level links: For example: While in the Annual Goals table I made these entries: Annual Goal called “99 Annual Goal item”. Then (in the linked Quarterly Goal tables’ field ), I created it’s … Quarterly Goal –“99’s quarterly goal made at Annual Goals table”. Each time I type date into one of the boxes and then either tab to a new box or click it any data I input is now gone. I get this message Record filtered: no longer visible on this views filter and willl be hidden when you select another record???

I have inherited a project and have been working on the API side of things but am now getting into the table structure and have a question. Structure: ’Employees’ Table. All employees in the company. Includes Email, Specialties (Link to Specialties), and Coverages (Link to Coverages). ’Specialties’ Table. All specialties provided by the company. Includes ‘Name’, and ’ Link to Employees’ ’Coverages’ Table. All coverages provided by the company. Includes ‘Name’, and ‘Link to Employees’ The idea is that I can access the Employees table via the API and get all the specialties and coverages an employee offers. In the linked Specialties column of Employees I can add Specialties just fine and the data finds it way back and forth. Delete an Employee from ‘Link to Employees’ from Specialties and it is great. I setup one base a while back…and entered a few records in it, but didn’t keep using it. Since then, I created a new base that now has over 1300 records in it. Can I move the records from the original base into the new base? or somehow merge the bases together?

Hi Airtablelers! I’m struggling with a logic problem here and would really appreciate some insights. I have a Spaces table that lists the shelf spaces I have in a store. Each space is defined by its column number and a letter specifying its row. Each column is different so not every column has every letter. Then I have a Brands table where I need to assigns these shelf spaces to different brands. For the brands table I want to create a Linked Record or Dropdown that lists every space available. basically listing all the combinations from my Spaces table. In this example the list would be like: 1A 1C 2A 2D 3C Is this achievable at all? What’s the best way to achieve this? Thank you so much!

When I try to use the fill handle it doesn’t do anything. I have tried with text and number cells. I select the cell, get the blue outline with the white box in the bottom right corner, hover over it and get the cross hairs, then when I click and drag nothing moves but the cross hairs.

For the sake of example, let’s say that I train dogs, mostly one on one. Before each dog can “graduate”, there are several tricks that they must master at different skill levels. It’s helpful to group them by skill level, but they don’t all happen in a strict sequence. Sometimes, one of their humans may need to be assigned to work with them on mastering a particular skill, though I can probably do without that information. At this point, I’ve definitely got a table for dogs and a table for their humans. But should I have a table for tasks, or should all of the tasks just be fields in the dog table, since a task can only be completed for each dog, rather than on its own? I’d like to be able to look at all the dogs that still haven’t learned how to fetch, for example, to maybe plan a time to work with them together. Hi there, I’m very new to Airtable, so apologies if my terminology is off here! I want to know if I can bulk-add labels in a field to a portion of my records. To illustrate, say I have a table full of details about an array of organisations. I want to record which of these orgs take part in a variety of different activities (each of which are detailed on another table). The best way I can see to do it is to create a field in the orgs table that links to multiple records in the appeals table. We can then, one by one, choose which activities each org took part in. But must I then go down the list of hundreds of orgs and choose individually which activities they took part in (hence giving each of them a “label” for that activity on the orgs table)? Or, for each activity in the activities table, go in and choose from hundreds of orgs and add them all individually? Or is there a way to add a specific activity to a bunch of orgs at once? Is there a way to pay JUST for the gnatt functionality or link airtable with another outside program? the free airtable functionality suits my needs except for wanting to try out Gnatt - but it would cost thousands of dollars for the experiment to upgrade the whole workspace. Is there a more cost effective solution for this functionality?

Hi all, I have built a base to track all the data related to my sales. I have the following tables, all connected with each others: Orders (linked to Customers and Products) Customers (linked to Orders) Products (linked to Inventory) Inventory (linked to Orders) 90% of my orders are including only one product. The rest of the time, clients buy more than one product, either the same product or mixed products. And here comes the troubles… I don’t know how to affect the suitable quantity per product on each order I create. For now, I am only able to tell Airtable that the order X is including product A and product B but I can say for each product the quantity that is included in the order. I assume this issue has been met and solved already since it’s pretty basic but I can’t find a decent solution to implement. So I ask you guys :winking_face:
