Base Design

Hi, I have searched around for someone with a similar problem but can’t find exactly my issue, perhaps someone can help. For work projects, we have an Airtable base to track the status and components of our collections (think fashion collection). Now, I want to track how long each collection dwells in each ‘status’ without having to input that information manually. We have a big team working together and each person will likely not remember every time to log how long they were working on their part of the project. We have a status table with a single select field with options like ‘design’, ‘marketing’, ‘graphics’, etc. I have a last modified field that tells us the last time the status field was changed. But I want a log of every time it was changed, and what it was changed to. I know I can look at the expanded record but that’s rather tedious. So I’ve created a linked table called ‘Status Time Log’. Hi, I’m trying to understand Airtable better, so I’m hoping someone can help me out. I have a table with projects, the month the project has to be finished and a estimation of the revenue. The next step is to create (with a new table, because a new grid view doesn’t do the trick) an overview of the revenue per month and per year in total. I just don’t understand how to create this. Hello, New I’m new to Airtable but I suspect that I can’t be the first person to run into this. My question relates to a base that is being embedded on another website. Is there anyway to lengthen the second record field so that it and the name record are only records that appear in the preview? Or is there some way to force a specific record to only appear when you expand an entry? I have attempted to use a screenshot to show what I mean. (So when you see the preview, the record field called “Suggested…” should be visible but the one called “References” should only be visible when you open a selected row up.) I’m currently playing around on the free version but I’m happy to upgrade if that gets to access to more customization options. Thanks!

Sorry for the very open and vague question guys. I am making my way across from MS Access, so am pretty aware of the structure I need for my setup, but am struggling to implement what I need. Essentially I am running 3 tables in a parent>child setup as follows: “Client>Invoice>components” Obviously the first two are straight forward, the components table holds activity booking information, notes, start times and such. I have tried the idea of grouping based on invoice and client(this would be satisfactory), it works fine with invoice, but can’t filter by client as referencing a client control through the invoice table means that I can not then create new components. I am looking for a way whereby I can have a table view on components somehow controlled by a selection in invoice, and was hoping someone out there may be able to point me in a direction. Hello Everyone, I’m running a community and I’m trying to create a social graph to manage introductions and connections. I have a list of Names in a Members tab, and I would like to create the following fields: Connected Not Connected …so that I can figure out who and to whom I need to make introductions. Ideally when I link Member 1 and Member 2, it creates a reciprocal link, and it also removes the Members from each respective “Not Connected” field. Thanks for your help!

Hello, folks. I’d like to make my own Airtable-based interactive tool to provide my organizations’ users recommendations for compatible and appropriate resources available to employees, which would meet their specific needs. For example, we might want a tool that would make recommendations for cloud storage. The user might need to define their needs based on the qualifiers that I pose, like types of data (public, sensitive, medical) and cost (expensive, free, cheap). The user can make selections and the tool will show compatible solutions (Google Shared Drive, Amazon S3 Storage). I would like to weigh the qualifiers for compatibility. For example, if someone chooses says they need a free option, it would gray out or eliminate commercial offerings. Has anyone seen something that looks sorta similar which I could use for inspiration? How could I create compatibility relationships in Airtable?

I have a formula that correctly shows the cost of having 1 child in a class. When the parent has 2 or more children the cost is £5 per extra child per week. They could be in either Weeks FM or WeeksSR. So far I have a column showing “extraChildren” / number of weeks /class fm/ class sr/ but my formula is wrong and I have no idea what it should be. I developed a base for a simple one-time community program that is now being expended into multiple cycles. I think I have unnecessary tables and manual tasks, and am missing some elements that would help a lot. Here is the basic info (I am new to this community so not sure what is helpful vs excessive) The base manage volunteer participants in a large community program. People signup on a rolling basis. People sign up and then have options: – Just be on the mailing list – Attend date-specific, one-time events. Goal is to record who registers and who attends (data from Zoom) – Sign up for a training – Sign up to join a group Current design: People table, with form for person-level info (contact, demos, etc). Is anyone able to help me figure out how to set up a field automation that allows my “Warehouse costs” field to be auto-filled whenever I add a product’s weight to the “Product weight” field? Basically now it is done by hand, whereas I am in search of ways to add a reference price point for product weight and have the field being filled in accordance with it. Can you create a Base within a Base?

Hey all! I have a brand new base with some data that I imported in a CSV. It created a table called Classic Rock Songs (which is as awesome as it sounds) and populated records into 3 fields: Song + Artist Song Artist Each artist can have multiple songs (or at least the ones that were’t one-hit-wonders!), and I want to create a second table that: Lists all unique artists from the Classic Rock Songs table into the Artists table Links the records so that all songs for each artists show up in the Artists table I’m basically struggling with the first step above, and how to create a new table with unique artists. HI! I have a mushroom farm and we are looking to use airtable to track our lab work. Each table represents a different lab item, (Liquid Cultures, Agar Plates, Grain Spawn bags, Substrate Bags) and each Lab Item has a “Source” which could be any of the other lab items. How can I have a “Source” field in the Substrate Bag table that links to items in the other Liquid Cultures, Agar Plates and Grain Spawn bag tables? Many Thanks!

Hi, I’m wondering, are their universal and dynamically updated field types that we can be provided? I’m thinking things like Countries, States/Provinces, Cities? I believe there are lookups for these from an integration perspective from well known sources. However, would it be possible to have them just be available as a field type for simpler use? Thanks!

Hi all, I’m charged with organizing 19 sessions of the same event, and need to track a purchaser and 5 participants for each - including everyone’s contact info. For each session, I’m looking to create a one-page summary report showing the basic info for the session, and the 5 participants. We’re not talking a huge project here, but It’s my first database ever. I was quickly overwhelmed by MS Access, so I tried Airtable, and love it. Now that I’m almost finished the database though, I’ve discovered that (I think) the only way to create the one-page report I’m looking for is to sign up for a $240 yearly Pro plan, which totally isn’t worth it. Have I used a sledgehammer to kill an ant here? I’m really eager to learn new things, and Airtable looks great and has been fairly easy to learn, but I feel like I’ve hit a brick wall just trying to produce the simplest of reports here. Any advice would be appreciated. I’ll just use spreadsheets if I have to, but

I do consultations by phone and follow-up with an email. The follow-up email template consists of approximately 600 possible paragraphs. Each paragraph has a number, i.e. 1.0. Most paragraphs are straight text, but some paragraphs also contain data that needs to be entered, if the paragraph has been selected for printing. I want to be able to submit the paragraph numbers desired and have Airtable export a text file with the final selections that I can copy/paste into the body of my email message. My time is limited. Is there someone who would set this up for me? I have staff who could enter the paragraph data. What I really need is someone well-versed in Airtable who can create the structure to do the above. Hi! This may be too big of a question but I wanted to try… there’s two components to what we want. 1 - Someone is going to enter their address via a form. We then want to search one of our tables to find every office within say 10 miles of that person’s address. Is that possible? 2 - Once we hopefully have a list of offices that meet the location criteria, we’d want to show those offices on a map. Thanks!

Hello, I am trying to build a content tracker and there are going to be hundreds of entries every day. I will be creating views where people can filter post type with date. For Ex: I want to see “query” posted on 4th December. I want to see “post” posted between 4th December - 7th December. Should I create a new base for each date or should I continue updating the same base with hundreds of thousands of entries? Or is there a better way to do this that I am totally missing out on? I have a table with 290 records and 10 fields that need to be updated yearly and I am struggling knowing if a record has been updated or not. Essentially I need help creating a system to track if records have been updated and if they need to be. My table consists of fields that either update all the records at once yearly, or get updates spontaneously throughout the year (sort of like a company yearly earnings). You know it is coming but they don’t release them all at the same time. Any suggestions of what it could look like? or how to think about this?

Have you come across this issue with the right click on Chrome not working on ChromeOS? Instead of the Airtable right click menu I would expect I get a browser menu. For example, when I try to delete a record, I get the browser menu. I didn’t see with any machines but one laptop Chromebook with latest OS.

Hi all, I have a couple fields in my base where the values are reviewed every few months (i.e. risk score increases or decreases according to mitigation measures). I would be interested in plotting how for example the risk score for a particular risk has changed over the course of the project. I know I can expand view and see how that record has been edited over time but I was wondering if there is a way to monitor changes to a particular field so that the data can be extracted automatically for graphs and tables etc… The only other thing I can think of is creating a new field every time the values are reviewed and then hiding them from view but that would just create so many fields over time.
