Base Design

I have a table which is an inventory of all of our computers in the company, with several piece of information (RAM, etc.), with the computer name being the primary field. I have a second table which is a data export of all DEVICES that have our software installed on them and what the software version is, including work computers and employee computers. I’d like to create a field in the first table, that’ll grab the software version from the second table. When I try to use linked fields, it populates the first table with all of the devices from the second table, though. Is there a way to only list the devices in the first?

I have tables set up with Autonumber as the primary key. It’s basically my version of a CRM. I have the Contacts linked to the Company records, but it displays the AutoNum instead of the Contact name. Is there a way to choose what displays when you link records? I saw a previous topic that the recommendation was to have the AutoNum NOT be the primary key. Since there can be a number of Joe Smiths or JaneMillers in a given set of names (examples only), I’d prefer to keep the autonum to get a unique key. It would definitely be helpful to see ‘Jane Miller’ in the company record instead of ‘1’…

Can you create a picklist for entry into a primary key field? This would allow a standard and defined list instead of letting anything go into the field. Thanks in advance. charley

Hi, I’m looking to link records from one table to another. At the moment, the way I’m linking the two together is by linking via the main table using the lookup function. Is there a way to directly link from one table to another without using the main table as the core linker. Thanks in advance!

Hi Novice Airtable user question - advice gratefully received. I want to create a master ‘to do list’ - which I will primarily view as Kanban - which I can both add new ‘tasks’ and also pull in items from other tables; using the status field in the other tables to then organise the master to do list. The Airtable is helping me with my professional development covering working on a new business idea, networking, job hunting, writing etc. What is the cleanest way to create a grid that has ‘new items’ and linked records? How can I pull records in from multiple other tables into my master plan and create a status field in the master document that pulls from the status fields in the separate tables? So I might have some networking activities to do, some writing to finish, a job to apply for etc - each of these are currently in separate tables? I hope that makes sense. Hey all, I have been using Airtable for a few years now and I’ve got quite a few complex tables happening these days. Which is fun. But can also be frustrating. I am wondering whether there is any table or function that will allow me to view all of my fields in the one place, along with their linkages, their field types, descriptions, and their options (eg if it’s a single select, the options to select). Does such a thing exist? A particular use case outside the general described above would be when we are planning to build a new website. What I like to do is create different tables in Airtable to wrap my head around how the new website’s database would look. But I’d be able to better plan this if I could see an overview of field links with their respective options. Basically adding in another SUPER table showing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to post a gallery link to Facebook and the link posts but only with an Airtable pic? Is there a way to do this? I am interested in my Notes information as part of the post.

I have published a gallery view to my wix page and thought everything was great. Question. Why when someone clicks on View larger version does it take them to an airtable.com site? 2nd question. If I like the larger view that seems to be appropriate how can I duplicate that view? Thanks for your help charley

I am moving along quite well. Quick question about embedding on a six page. I can easily change my page size to see more, but I don’t see an option to show more of the gallery. I know folks can scroll, but my current provider allows adjustable sizes of the embedded window within the Wix window if that makes sense. Thanks for any help. charley

Hello all! I am trying dynamically update my available inventory based on dates. For example: July 22, 2020 Event 1 Gear assigned A01, A02 July 22, 2020 Event 2 // When I go to select inventory I want to assign to this event, I want to make sure that A01 and A02 are omitted from the list since they are already being used on the same date for Event 1. Hey everyone, In table #1, I need to create a field that calculates a SUM(values) rollup of the costs associated to records in another table (let’s call it table #2). I created a linked field that links table #1 to table #2, but is there a way to link to all the records in table #2? Let’s say the records in table #2 are labeled “A” “B” “C” etc… I would like a field in table #1 to link to all the records in table #2 that are labeled “A.” But there could be hundreds of them theoretically, so manually linking them isn’t feasible. I’ve tried copying the values into the linked field, but it only returns one link in each field instead of all the records that match. We are a charity amateur brass band in the UK which plays music at charity events and teaches music to members of the community of all ages. We have approximately 100 members and will probably not grow very much bigger. I have designed our membership and stock database on Airtable. We will have about 10 collaborators, so would never be able to spend $50 a month to install blocks. However, we are looking for a solution to be able to send group emails to the membership from the database, so that leaders are compliant with GDPR and don’t have personal lists on their computer. Do you have any ideas that might help us?

I have 2 tables: Customers Workouts When I create a new workout I want to auto-link it to every customer in the customers table. Is there a way to do this? I found a ‘hack’ of sorts on the forum - grouping workouts by linked customers and then adding rows from below the group that contains all customers. But the problem with this is that I need it to automatically include any additional customers when they get added to the customer table. Any suggestions?

I created a form with airtable because I wanted my users to be able to submit their own posts which include a title, description, and an image and I wanted it stored in the spreadsheet I made with airtable. Hi, Here’s what I’d like to do. On my website, I’d like one form (Table 1) to have two fields. Twitter Handle Writing Prompt On my website, a user fills in both fields then the data gets added to Table 1 (in airtable). When Table 1 fields are filled, another table (Table 2) on the same web page will display the Twitter Handle and Writing Prompt. However, Table 2 will only show the LAST record (Twitter Handle and Writing Prompt) input from Table 1. I have a content calendar table set up in Airtable, but I’d also like to use another table in the same base to keep track of my newsletters. My main content calendar table has a field called “newsletter” that is a date, which represents the day on which the newsletter that will contain this story will be sent. It also has a URL field for published stories. I would love for the URL field for the story in the content calendar table to auto-populate in the corresponding record in the newsletter table. For example, if the story “5 Things You Didn’t Know About Back Pain” had “7/27/2020” in the “Newsletter” field on the content calendar table, that story’s URL would appear in the “7/27/2020” record in the newsletter table. There is a currently built airtable with a field project name and information on the project. I want to make a new tab that can be used as a form. This form will allow the user to select a project name that has already been inputed and upload a picture. The picture will then link in according to project name, to a new column in the original project info tab.
