Hello AirTable Community,Here's a fun one that I hope I can pick some brains on.  We have a Workday integration that creates an employee directory that feeds quite a few bases. With the Workday integration, we have to use a unique identifier - that being employee ID. However, employee IDs are not regularly used in our company so many do not know theirs. When filling out a form, they would typically use the employee name, which is not the primary field in the Workday integration (because of the unique identifier requirement.)Is there any way, via automation or some other method, to have the linking record be the employee name instead of the employee ID? If not, has anyone made a successful automation that would switch these columns after each sync with the Workday database? This has become quite a big blocker for us, so hoping someone has an idea of how this might be accomplished. 

Hi, I'm trying to make a p&L. I'd like to grab the total expenses per month from the Expense Table and reference it in the P&L table. I've oragnised the data in the Expense table by month. In the group view I can see the totals, but I can't reference or copy them to the P&L Table. I tried to get around this by creating a "Lookup" linking the expenses in the Expense table to the P&L table. But I have to manually select each transaction. I have thousands of transactions and selecting them one by one is too time consuming. Does anyone have any advice for how I can make this work?  

Hi I have started another base. The main base is working fine and this base is for an add on registration service. I tried to create the form https://airtable.com/app6DqS2bqGtz03sG/pagZRFkh5bC0Ay4TK/formI have filled out the film and submitted it but it does not populate anything in the base. I also cant find the form when I go back to my work sheet.Please may I have some assistance

Is there anyway to set up timeline or gnatt views to see more than 2 dates?Currently I have the "duration" of the record, but there is a repeated "event" that happens through the duration of the record (recorded in another table with a link to the first table). I'd like to be able to visualize when these events are occurring on the same timeline, is that possible?

I tried to search the community before posting and found this question (with no solution) several times, but the posts I found were pretty old so I just wanted to double check to make sure this was still impossible using Airtable alone.I'd like to use the Date Dependency features to help with automatically shifting task and displaying in a Gantt chart. However, many of the tasks span less then one day. For example:Task 1: Purchase Paint - Start 6/12/2024 - End 6/12/2024Task 2: Paint Wall - Start 6/12/2024 - End 6/12/2024I can't paint the wall until I purchase the paint, so I want to setup a dependency. But it doesn't take an entire day to purchase paint. When I setup Date Dependencies, the only option I have for creating a duration field is at the "day" level and setting dependencies means my tasks on the same day can't overlap. Am I missing something? Is there a workaround? Or is this still an issue?

Is there a straightforward way to handle this?I have two tables:contactsemail addressesThere's a field linking them. Each contact may contain multiple email addresses. What I want is to have a field in the contacts table that displays one email address - but not just the first or last record, I want the best address for that contact.I've created a formula field in the email addresses table that assigns a score based on various criteria. Ideally, a 'top email address' field (in contacts table) would identify the highest-scoring address within the addresses linked to that contact and display only that one.---I realize I could sort the email addresses table and then have a lookup field take the first one. For several reasons, I'd prefer to not have to change the sort order.Any other suggestions come to mind?

So I know this has been an on-and-off issue with Airtable or a long time and mostly resolves itself after a while but I thought this was an issue of the past but no, still happens now and then like today..see 100's of my images broken randomly, some show up, others don't. If you open it, it can't open. The temporary URL via automation can still be generated, but can't be downloaded, instead an HTML page is downloaded saying the access is denied - permissions problem? Wait for a few hours to see if it gets fixed before contacting Airtable. Last time they told me to restore from snapshots. No, that doesn't work lovely airtable support team, snapshots show also broken images, same images broken as the live version, I can go as far as to last year and still same images show broken in the snapshot. N-o-t great. 

Are swimlanes possible in the Kanban view? This would be a nice feature to have. I'm not seeing it. 

Hello Community,I'm encountering an issue with the resource allocation timeline in Airtable, specifically when switch between the daily and weekly views for team utilization when people taking leaves.In the daily view, everything displays correctly; for example, team member Chanpory’s leaves on February 28 and March 11 are shown accurately.However, when switching to the weekly view, these leaves are not represented, what even worse, it incorrectly shows overutilization for Chanpory, despite his absence on these days.This issue is impacting our ability to manage and report on resource allocation effectively. Does anyone else experience this problem? Any suggestions on how to ensure that leaves are accounted for correctly in the weekly view to prevent it

Hey guys,I am looking for a way to link sets of dates together across different tables. I have a schedule table and a tasks table (tasks are nested under schedules), both have their own dates, I would like the tasks to move with the schedule they are linked to. I am using the predecessor field within those tables already for that functionality, but also want a way to link the tasks to the schedule. Let me know if anyone has any ideas on this one.Thanks!

In Airtable, a normal one-to-many relationship between two tables is bi-directional. When I create a link-to-record field in the parent table, Airtable automatically creates a mirroring link-to-record field in the child table. But if I create a link-to-record field that links to the same table – a self-join – that mirroring field does not get created. I was trying (as an experiment) to create a one-table to-do list, but I wanted a task to be able to have sub-tasks. So I defined the link-to-record field linking the Tasks table to itself, and called that field (that relationship) “Subtasks”. I created a task like “Prepare for vacation” and then added subtasks to it by clicking into the “Subtasks” column’s + button. And then Prepare for vacation [Subtasks: Get gas in car, Pack, File vacation form…] Get gas in car Pack File vacation form at post office etc. That works fine. But now what I’d like to

How can I do a negative filter? Let's say I have a multiple select field with letters A-E. I can easily filter to show all records that contain all of D, E, and F. But I want to filter OUT all records that contain all of D, E, and F. Just D is fine, D and E is fine, etc. Thanks for your help!

Hi Everyone.Quick question.. I think I already know the answer, but just double checking to make sure..I work for a company that is starting a marketing campaign, I wanted this to include an Airtable form that customers can fill out a form for an appointment.We have two divisions in the company and what I am looking for is to have a limit for appointments per day. So three appointment each day per division. I think this may be too complicated for Airtable, especially for a simple form.  Either way let me know if there is a solution to this! Thanks

I have a base that allows my constituent departments to submit requests for communication/outreach production. Each department has an individually tailored interface so that the fields are customized to what they need and use regularly with departmental communications. This allows me to maintain all requests in a centralized location, but also keep and track long term comms. planning separated by department.I need to be able to utilize the "user" field in each interface so that records can be assigned to one or more individuals. However, each unit should only have the ability to view and assign users that have access to that specific interface. Right now, it shows all users who have access to the entire base. It even displays deactivated users. Further customization of user settings, groupings, access, etc., would be even better, but this basic setting is a must for our needs. If anyone has any insight on how to make this happen, we'd be so appreciative! 

I have Budget table which has cost field, variable cost, and month field (Jan to Dec). Cost field has some default amount. I want to change a field type from single line text to a multi select. There are 606 records inputted as single line text, but we need to make them multi select as we will be using that data as tags in Softr to create search capabilities. When I go to edit the field, it keeps throwing the error "An error has occurred. Please refresh this page." Refreshing the page does not help. Has anyone experienced this same issue? Please help.   

Good afternoonStill a newbie to Airtable so I appreciate the help.I have a series of tables that have a "next follow up" column and I'd like to be able to create a table that would show only those with the due date of today.  In other words, it would only show all of my task for that day in the table but the records/tasks would come from multiple other tables within my base.  Hoping that makes sense.Thank you!

Hi,I'm new to Airtable and using it to connect a number of various data sources, add additional data, and create custom views.  I know how to create linked/lookup fields for data I've created in Airtable, but I'm trying to figure out (essentially) how to do that dynamically from an integration.  In particular:* I have a Jira project (PROJ) with parent tickets (e.g., epics) and child tickets (e.g., stories).  The tickets have different types within Jira.* In Jira, the child has the Parent Link field so they are clearly connected.* I made a table in Airtable for the parent and have it synced to Jira.  The ticket ID is the primary field.* I made a table in Airtable for the children and have it synced to Jira.  Ticket ID is again the primary field.* Parent Ticket ID is a field in the child table, and it shows data like PROJ-1234.I would like to automatically connect that with the parent table so that I can add oth

Hi, I'm trying to track accounts added or lost over time. I want to be able to view this data by week, month, quarter, or year and compare it to the previous period. How can I set this up? Base contains Customer Name, Added Date, Lost Date among other information. 

This is a very basic question, but I don't have the terminology to google the things I'm trying to learn, so patience please..I've spent a while getting used to creating bases for record keeping with lots of automation etc. But I now need to get my head around using airtable to identify patterns and trends against varying factors. In my company, I have a main database that contains all the data. I want to create another database that only includes rows where a particular field is not empty. To achieve this, I thought of synchronizing the two databases and, for this purpose, I read the tutorial page https://support.airtable.com/docs/two-way-syncing-in-airtable. At a certain point in the tutorial, I am asked to select the 'Allow edits from other bases' option. However, this option is not selectable. What could be the problem preventing me from selecting this option?Thank you.

I have a field that is a formula (and the primary field in a table) (as you can see below)I have it in a sync view in the original table.I have my sync settings set However in the base table that it is being used to sync into the field shows as a long text field This doesn't seem right!

Hey guys,I am trying to build a company wide resource management tool using the timeline interface with utilization. This works with how I normally do resource management for tracking individual rolls where everyone i tagged under the same linked field, but I have yet to figure out a good way to do it if people are tagged across multiple different linked fields. We have our crews tagged by which role they play for each project (project manager, account manager, artist, etc) in linked fields for each role. This is great for laying out hows working what role, but recently my company wants to see what everyones schedules are to better plan out projects. I've thought of trying to have an automation pull the entire crew into one "All Crew" linked field, but that doesn't work. Do anyone know of a solution for this? Whether it's pulling everyone into one field or being able to view multiple roles in the timeline?Thanks!

Hey guys!Quick question on best practices for Base sync, I currently have multiple views for each base sync but wondering if it's better to have all syncs under one view.Example:Base Clients pulling from table Companies has separate views to sync to Internal Department Base 1, 2, and 3 (SYNC - Department 1, SYNC - Department 2, etc).I have done it this way to be able to quickly view where the synced data is going, but often I find I am syncing the same exact data. So is it better to have all the same data syncs pulling from one view?Our airtable performance speed has also started slowing down and I'm wondering if this is a way to help speed things back up.Thanks!

I have a number field, no formula related, just simple number field. I have been trying to type 0210, it shows 210 instead, the leading "0" is automatically missing, is there anyway that I can keep the 0? thanks
