Interface Designer

I have a user that can't click an interface button which runs an automation. The automation primarily updates a field that is not visible through the interface. My user, who has access to the interface but not the underlying base, is unable to click this button. It is greyed out. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the error message you get when you hover over the button because another user 'helped' them and moved the workflow along.Is it the current expected behaviour that a user with interface only access can't run an automation that changes the base? Or is there something else going on here?

Hi!I'm trying to display two lines (series of values) in one line chart.Data goes like:Date / Value 1 / Value 21-1-2024 / 24 / 201-1-2024 / 34 / 201-2-2024 / 40 / 211-3-2024 / 52 / 21 So one line displaying 24,34,40 and 52 and another line in the same chart displaying 20, 20, 21, 21 (for same period (X-axis).Is this possible in interfaces? Or is there another way to achieve something like this?

How can I display a ratio between two values in interface (dashboard)?I have the field "hours" in a base.In the dashboard I want to display the number of hours last week divided in a static number.Like:All records from last week.Total amount of hours from those records.Divided in 8.Plot this on a chart so I can see progress over time. I'm OK to go through a new table in the base to solve the problem

Morning.We have a request that seems pretty common but searching the articles the info is a bit conflicting, so asking a fresh question.We have a base with data that we work with.  Think of it like a CRM.What I need is a way to set a view of data (state based) so that a user can only see the cases they are working on. That is pretty easy with a view etc. I also only want those users to only see certain fields from those people to not be able to edit the view or configuration of those fields. Except 2 fields which they are allowed to do a drop down on. Reason is basically to stop users from deleting or changing important data, or viewing other peoples data. Thats the main request. A lock down view for our users that they cant download, change, print, copy. they can only view . . except 2 fields that they can toggle. (our users are very basic).Second part of that, is I want them to have the ability to run one automation

Is there anyway to do a sum of averages within a selection using the number boxes?Bottom grey number on the left is what I'm trying to tweak.  Over the last 12 months, I've sold 663 units for a total of $4,107,840 (bottom two green #'s).  I need to sell 118 more (top grey #).  Ideally, I want that bottom grey box to not show me the average per, but a sum total of the averages.  So $4,107,840/663 = 6196 * 118 = $731,128.  Any one have an idea on how to get there?I thought maybe build that value into the base itself somehow, but I'm having trouble running sums within the individual records so they all return the 6196 value in real time (or close to it)...

Is it possible to limit the options for a single select field in an interface form? i can definitely do this in a regular airtable form. but i can't seem to figure out the way to do this in an interface form.example: single select fieldOption 1Option 2Option 3Can i make the interface form only offer them the choice of Option 1? or only Option 1 & Option 2, but not display Option 3 as a choice?

Inside the Interface Designer, I've tried many ways to get this Record List from the Project Tracker template, but could not find a way. How do I get this? I have tried creating Record Review, but the behaviour is somewhat different. I tried creating from blank but the only option available is Record Picker. Appreciate your help and expertise. Thank you in advance. 

I’m curious if there are any plans to add conditionally shown fields to Interfaces, similar to what is possible in form view? For example, if you’re tracking network outages you might use one field to specify that the cause is a power outage, in which case you would want other fields to appear that let you specify when the power outage started and ended (so you can track UPS runtime when the power goes out, and site recovery time when it comes back.)

I’ve been trying to delete a published interface but can’t find where to delete it. I opened the interface and looked for a delete button but couldn’t find one. I exited the interface and went to my workspace to see all of the bases and interfaces I have, but I couldn’t find an option to delete it there. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I'm playing with the interfaces and I have a question. Is there any way I can share an interface with a person that hasn't an Airtable account?I don't want to add them as collaborators, because they should see only that interface (not the base) and I don't want to ask them to create an Airtable account just to see my interface. My final goal is sharing the interface link with an automation through email. Is there any way? Thank you!

I've created a pivot table in a dashboard interface and I'm trying to summarize cost for projects. Each record is a deliverable which has a corresponding "Brief" that it's tagged to. Each deliverable also has a cost associated with it. Both "Brief" and "Cost" fields are lookups from another table.The pivot table:Rows: BriefColumns: Deliverable TypeSummarize by: FieldField: CostSummary type: SumUnfortunately, the pivot table just shows up completely empty. I created the same pivot table as an extension and that worked perfectly. I can't seem to figure this one out.Also, the Cost field is set as "currency" in the lookup table, if that's important.

Hello Airtable Community, I have a timeline display and group on three levels (market, category, linked event)For some entries, there is no linked event. However, it is very important that it is also displayed for the entries with linked events.Can I somehow prevent the entries without links from always showing (empty)?Thank youMirko   

Currently when viewing a record's details in an interface, Grid/List visualizations can be used to view the record's "linked records", however these visualizations cannot be used on the record itself.I.e, if I have a Customer record with Order linked records, I can view the Orders in Grid/List visualization, however, I cannot view the Customer record itself in a Grid/List on that same page.What I would like to do is to show some of the Customer's fields in Grid/List view. When there are many fields this allows to show selected fields in a neat one-row view. (Rather than having each field one after the other vertically).Currently my workaround is to create a new linked record field where I link the record to itself, but it would be great if this could be done without this workaround.

I’m really excited about the new interface designer features. Airtable has given us the tools to build functional apps without getting people too deep into the database side. Unfortunately I can’t quite fully embrace it yet – it seems like the interfaces don’t work at all on iPhones. Moreover the degradation is pretty un-graceful, users just get a message to login or use the app with little or no explanation of what went wrong and how they could fix it. Our folks – especially some key stakeholders – are on iPhones more than any other platform, making this an important thing to solve for here. Does anyone have any ideas about how to deal with this? Does anyone know what Airtable’s roadmap is? Would love to leverage the features if I can figure out how to manage this challenge.

Hello, I designed an interface with some nice stats and graphs only to discover that I can only share it with Airtable registered users. This is very annoying as I cannot ask clients or occasional collaborators, which often aren't even that tech-smart, to sign up to a dedicated service, even if it's free.Can you please allow us the possibility to share an interface in read-only mode with anyone who is provided with the link, just as google docs does?

I'm building a CRM for my friend running a coaching business. There are two tables I would like to surface at the same time in a single interface "Sessions" & "Client"I want to create a user friendly view where she can see today's sessions - she can take notes etc for each session, and also have relevant client details up. (I've done a little mockup to explain)I know I can use Lookup fields to surface this information, but is there a cleaner way so I can simply open the Client details when a Session is selected (I'm using Record View but there might be another option)Any advice appreciated! 🤗

I have an interface form set up as an intake form for employee changes.  There is logic built where different fields show up to be filled in depending on what is selected.  It works well for individual employee change but I would like to enable a requester to submit more than 1 change without filling out a new form. For example, I have 2 employees I would like to promote and want to select different reasons for each and for employee 1 there would be a position number change while employee 2 does not.  Ideally, the same fields/logic already built can show up for employee 2, 3, etc so they can run through the same questions.  Also, is it possible for form / base to have an embedded table (similar to google sheet) where they can fill in for multiple employees at once.  

It's past May 17th and I still don't have the left navigation UI referenced in the help article "Getting started with Airtable Interface Designer." I'm missing the "add element" button. Anyone else with this issue?

I created an "upgraded" form and gave users commenter access to the base and workspace. However, when they try to upload a file (images to be specific), they get an "invalid permissions" error. Is there a setting that I am missing? I tried out this setup with the old forms and it seemed to work. 

I know this should be easy, but I'm new to Airtable and apparently missing something obvious.I want to let users add a new contact to my base.I have a People table and a Companies table.  They are joined with a multi-to-multi Roles table [Person, Company, Job Title].I've built a form to accept a new People record, but:1) How do I detect if a matching record already exists.  If it does, I don't want to create a duplicate2) I want the form to also ask for the new contact's company and create a new Role. But, I can't ask for Company in a form on People, If, instead, I put the form on Role, then I can't create a new Person or Company; I can only accept existing ones.My assumption is that I'm trying to force the system to act in a way it doesn't want. And, that's fine. I'm new to Airtable and 100% comfortable restructuring my base to work in a natural way.So, my broader question is: how do I setup a base so

In the iOS app, I can edit all types of fields in the interfaces except the "Link to another record" fields. I can view related fields, but I can't link or unlink them, although I can do that on the web. Is this a bug?

Hey All.Curious how I might set this up.  Here's what I need.I have a form that interested parties need to fill out, an application.We review the potentials, and start the first pass of approvals/denials.The next stage is taking those that enter the next pass to be reviewed by instructors(who have their own base with info that can be a linked record to draw from)So we have a list of of records/attendeesWhat I want to be able to do is have each of the instructors to see the applicant, and make their ratings on each person/attendee/record.I'd thought of setting up like dynamic tables:Then I want an interface that makes it easier for the instructor to quickly rate each individual/potential attendee.  I think I'm almost there, but not sure.Thanks!Sean 

I used to be able to allow users to create new records on linked fields but now I can't find this functionatlity. There was a toggle, editible and allow users to create a new field. This also applied to single select or multiple select categories. Is there a way to turn this feature back on?
