Interface Designer

I tried using interface designer and it is a very cool feature. One thing I would suggest to have is a sharing the interface like a view. For example, I would like to share particular interface in read only mode and do not want the user to be able to go and see all contents of the base. Currently, if I give read-only permissions the user can go and see all tables in the base.

Hi all,I have written an extension that links a project to various records in another table and, as a prototype, it works fine by using a specific project.Now, to roll the feature out, I need to pass the project name over to the script from an interface, so the steps are performed on that specific project. The obvious way would be to use a button and an automation. However, I can not find a way to connect the extension to the interface.Can someone point me in the right direction?Thanks you!

Very basic question: Some of the pages automatically display their title at the top and I cannot edit or remove it. Looks like this:Interface name / Page nameHowever, some of my pages don't display carry this title and I need to add it manually.For the sake of consistency, I would like all pages to show the title. Is that possible, and how?Many thanks!

Hi there!Does anyone know of a way to copy the form layout from the New Project option to the record templates forms? I have A LOT of templates and do not want to have to build them all manually to match the New Project layout. Or is this a thing in the works?Thanks

Hello,Here is a picture of my interface. I have a filter element which is linked to the list element. I would like the filter element to apply to the linked option when creating a new record in the list element so that the user can select/filter which options they want to add as a new record in the list element.  For example, I want the list of materials to be filtered by the supplier in the filter element so that when creating the new record in the list element, only the options for a single supplier (specified in the filter element) are shown. Although there are finite options and I could create a separate interface for each option (the supplier in the filter element), I would like to avoid doing so and having a more dynamic (1 page) interface).I need to attach/sync these linked record permissions to the filter element i.e. the user needs to be able to control the linked record permissions through the filter element.Thanks in advance for any suggestions! 

Hello,I've got a problem when using the search function on interfaces, the text will change as I'm typing or miss letters, almost like a text autocorrect. It's very frustrating. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem or is there a work around?Thanks,Andy

Please could number formatting options be implemented? At minimum, I would expect to be able to set decimal places and use of thousands comma. Even better would be to add currency symbols.

Hi all; I am currently in the process of designing an AirBNB-like booking system for a company that leases multiple rental units. I have designed an interface where potential tenants can review the units they can choose from, however I'm running into a snag when it comes to being able to allow them to select their desired move-in and move-out dates (interfaces won't allow for filtering by date fields, apparently) to result in showing them properties that would be available during those times. I have read about using scripting to make this happen but have not been able to develop a script/formula combination that works, and the company doesn't want the responsibility of having to approve booking requests based on a manual check of whether or not that unit is available. Does anyone have guidance on how I can accomplish this? At this point I don't even know where to start as far as experimenting or testing to see what the best option would be, and most of the solutions I've foun

Hey guys,I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for moving elements around more smoothly? At the moment when I try to move record elements in grids they rearrange everything in ways I wasn't intending.For example: I have a section on my interface for Important Links that are pulled from different fields that I want to lay out in a particular way. And when moving them into positions from this : To attempting to get all the elements aligned it does this:Does anyone now of a way to maybe lock locations of elements or grid or something to just make moving things around smoother? 

In my data I have a column that is a button. This button opens the page designer ext. to the record it lives on.When I bring that button-field onto the interface, the button is grayed out and not clickable.  (See below. It should be a bright orange color and clickable.) Does anyone know why? Is there anything I can do?  

We need to assign staff to shifts. I have a calendar of shifts and can put two staff members on a shift. I want to have the staff confirm that they will do the shift, sort of like inviting them for an event on Google Calendars. I think Interface might be the place to do it. I was looking at using Button and having it change the staff person's name from "Sue?" to "Sue Yes" or something like that. However, with the Set option, I can't have the staff person change just their name but rather changes the whole field. I need to get permission from both assigned staff.Is there a way to make this work?Thanks.

Hi Airtable Dev team.You've royally screwed us freelancers with the latest update to the Interface! 🙎I understand that the idea is that there are now templates but first we had to toggle the permissions to expose the create button. Now! Fields that were mandatory are no longer and many other fields have suddenly appeared.We convince people to use Airtable and now sit with egg on our faces with questions like - "Why is this field no longer there?", "Why can I now see XYZ?", etc.Better QA!

Hello,I'd like to embed a WebView or iFrame into Interface Designer (passing some fields as URL argument). An other option is to display HTML content (not MarkedDown stored in a field).I wondering where / if there is a documentation to code custom Interface Designer components ?I don't want to buy a third party plugin ... As a workaround, I'm considering coding a ChromeExtension to hack that but it's very kludgeMy usecase is VERY basic ... seeing a field containing HTML or previviewing an URL. I don"t understand why AirTable prevent that feature? (or I might missed it ?)Thanks !

Hi team ~ I've created a tracker in grid view to track graphics workflow at our company. I'm wondering if there is a way that I can share the base and have editable cells within (mainly dropdowns, similar to the function in form view) so those without a licence can edit/update? We don't have a huge budget for a licence so can't afford to have everyone as editors. My only other thought is to create a generic login for our staff to use as editors and update as needed. Happy to take on any suggestions! Thanks!

Beginning on 8/7/2023, when entering a new record in my application’s Interfaces, I noticed that the CREATE button has disappeared from the ADD RECORD Form.  Verified that all of my Interfaces are impacted as well.  Also, all databases.  I have submitted an Issue Ticket to Airtable Support.Any ideas as to the cause?  Am I overlooking something?  Is this a bug introduced with Airtable’s latest release?  Any recommendations?

Good day.There's an issue across the board when it comes to creating new records. It used to be that a person would fill the details and then click on the "x", which would create a record. This no longer works.Now it shows a 'create' button when the Interface is in the Edit Mode but doesn't appear when published? This is a big problem since no-one can create records via the Interface Designer!    

I am trying to setup our production tracker using Interfaces.  I am running into one very big issue though.  I have forms (currently in page designer) that need to be printed at certain times throughout the progress of each record.  I know I can add a URL to the button but we currently have the button setup to open that specific record in page designer and would like it to stay that way.  The button does not have to open to page designer if there is another solution that would pull data from that record and put it on a page that can be printed.  I am unsure if a script or API would accomplish this but would appreciate any help.

Okay, this is another one that I feel weird asking. I can't imagine I'm truly the first person asking... I've poked around here, Reddit, etc. and I haven't seen a direct answer so I'm asking— and apologizing if I'm being a goober who missed the super-clear response in some other post/exchange.  Sooooo, Obsidian! We're trying to increase adoption of using our interfaces to update project status - it would be great if we could have our status field anchored in the interface header and be editable!Even having it in the first section isn't working for the team - they need it in their face 🙂

After figuring out how to get the URL for individual sidesheets, and attaching that URL to a button and using the 'Open URL in record' action, the correct sidesheet is opened, but only after refreshing the page.I realize this is something of a hack to get sidesheets that aren't on the page to open, but has anyone had any luck preventing the page from refreshing, but rather just open the requested sidesheet as usual?Open url in new tab is unchecked. 

Hello the Airtable Community! I’m working on a series of Airtable interfaces to handle different aspects of projects. It’s a kind of top-down structure, with interfaces drilling down into linked records e.g. clients > projects > invoices. The typical interfaces structure looks like this: Client A (Interface I) – Project A (Interface II) — Invoice A (Interface III) Client B (Interface I) – Project B (Interface II) — Invoice B (Interface III) To navigate between interfaces in the same client / project context, I’m using record pickers. At the moment, I manually pick the relevant record with the record picker and copy the URL parameters generated by Airtable back to my Airtable base. With such hardcoded URL parameters, I can repeatedly achieve the navigation flow that I’m eventually aiming for. Is there a way to do this “properly” dynamic, with a native Airtable function (such as RECORD_ID()) or similar? Is there an existing documentation that I missed? Is it not yet possible and
