Interface Designer

When entering data into a grid within an interface, the Enter key does not appear to do anything. I update costs per vendor in batches each week. I would love to do this within an interface, but to move to a new line I have to click on it with a mouse. Tab will move between columns but Enter will not move between lines. Is this by design?

Hi everyone, I use Formstack to print documents using a button, and sadly this doesn’t work on the Interface Designer. Has anyone been able to use Apps or Buttons in the Interface designer, or know of any work-arounds? Thanks!

I am creating a dashboard that will show some sums but it only allows me to have 3 numbers in one row, and I need to add more.

One technique that works well for interfaces is using a url button generated by a formula as an extra navigation element. For example: Create a button field on “table a” that is the base url for an interface based on the table, plus the record id - eg: "https://airtable.com/appid/interfaceid?WqRri=" & RECORD_ID() Place this button on an interface designed for showing data from “table b” alongside linked data for “table a”. When the link is clicked you’ll move to the “table a” interface, with the specific record data showing. You’ll need to copy the exact formula url for your interface out of your browser bar when the interface is displayed.

Is there a way to horizontally align text blocks with fields blocks in the new but already incredible Interface Designer? I disabled the labels on some read-only number fields, but they are still taller than the regular text blocks. Would like to create a simple table like structure like this:

Somehow I deleted the Source element on my Interface, how do I add the link to the table back into the Interface?

I need software that will do CRM, invoicing, and integrate with Gmail, drive, etc. Is it possible to do this with Airtable, and is there a place to find developers that can do it?

If I choose a record in the record picker that has information in a connected field and then choose another record where that field is empty, the information of the previously chosen record shows up. Any ideas?

I am loving the new Interface Desinger! In the help docs there is an example of a filter with a drop-down: Getting Started: Airtable Interface Designer | Airtable Guides In my Base, I am using linked tables to provide selection options (instead of a standard Single or Multiple Select field.) Is there a way to provide a drop-down filter in Interface Designer for linked tables? When I create a filter, it only allows for a “Contains” text input:

When comments are entered in an interface (using the Record Comments element) where are they saved on the record? When I go back into the base, I can’t find the comments. Any help from this amazing group of users?

Would be nice to have access to app content / data / features in the interface designer without having to go back to the backend view.

I’m trying to build an interface that’s something like this: So more or less, a Timeline and a Record Picker next to each other. That is easy enough to do visually with the blank starter template. So far so good. However, the behaviour I’m after is that instead of having to manually search for the record to pick, the detail element would be fed in from whatever’s currently selected in the timeline (in this case, “Bar”). However, I don’t seem to see an option to set the record picker value dynamically (Tables seem to be the only data source). Am I barking up the wrong tree, or missing an option somewhere?

I want to use a checkbox as part of an interactive filter. It seems my choice is checked or unchecked but I want a way to see to be able to Checked, unchecked or ALL (either checked or unchecked). I know I could change the checkbox to a single select but I prefer a checkbox if there is a way to do it. How can I do this?

Airtable, Please consider allowing us to add a third column in the record view area for numbers, charts, etc. Right now, we only have two columns. A sliding panel for record elements could also work. Thanks, Jonathan

Airtable, Please consider adding an easy keyboard shortcut to move forward and backward for record details like the up and down arrow. I have always had a hard time moving between records in the detail view since CTRL + SHIFT + (.) is not the easiest of combinations. Thanks, Jonathan

Summary: There seems to be a bug with the Timeline element when it is connected to a record list in the Record Review layout. Goal: A Timeline Element in the Record Review layout should show the timeline associated only with the selected record from the record list. This, however, appears to be broken. Problem Details: When a Timeline Element is added in the Record Review layout and the Source is set as the ‘Record list’, only a small number of Fields are available. Then, when trying to set the ‘Date setting’, nothing is available to select, even when the selected record has multiple date fields. Additionally, in the properties for the same timeline, when selecting a view to copy from (Data–>Copy from view), it shows views from a different table entirely. It would appear there are some strange routing issues.

Scrolling in the record list view doesnt appear to work correctly. I cannot seem to either drag the slider all the way down, or scroll with a scroll wheel on my mouse. It only goes down about 3/4 of the way and then stops.

Like the title suggests. You can test it by creating a table with a Currency-type column and setting the currency symbol to anything other than “$”. Then, create a chart in Interface Designer with a field summary to compute, for example, the average price using the currency column. Doing so causes either the widget to crash or to show a cut-off version of the chart.

I know I can have a link to an AirTable form on the interface to create a new record, Is there a way to embed the form directly on an interface? I am confused as to the purpose of the code element <> when in a text field in the interface and whether it can be used for this purpose? If so, how? If not, is there another way?

Each row of my table is a problem statement. There are columns which contain potential solutions that the team can vote on for their favorite solution. I would like to give team member the ability to create new columns so that they can add new solutions on demand. Is there a way to do this in the interface designer?

Hi Airtable community, I’d like to know whether it is possible to sort the field by total points (eg. descending order by the sum) in the interface. In the image 1, there are names of the pitches with their total points next to them. However, the individual sum of each pitch are in different fields as shown in image 2. I want to make it easier to go from the interface to my base so I want to make a button on the interface to go back to my Base calendar view. which has a URL of Sign in - Airtable This works if I paste it into a browser. but it changes in the browser to Sign in - Airtable which works great. However, when I use that same Sign in - Airtable in the button formula, it won’t accept the formula and I cannot figure out why? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a table with multiple Collaborator fields for owners. How do I specify which collaborator field I want to be used in the interface. This is the part where we can see records only where we are the collaborator

Set up the Record Picker with a filter that is controlled by elements on the Interface. For example, I am setting up a content approval Interface so that the user can see all of the records that need approving in the Record Picker. The Record Picker is filtered by a single select APPROVAL field. The APPROVAL field is an editable element on the Interface. When the APPROVAL field is changed to “Approved” or “Rejected” the record should disappear from view. What happens is that the record disappears from the Record Picker but the elements remain showing for that record. Even worse, when you clear the Record Picker then the final record’s elements remain even when you close down and reopen the Interface. As it is, I am probably going to have to workaround the problem with a place holder record. The usability would be greatly improved if records disappeared when filter conditions are met like they do in regular views.

Hi, I found a funny bug in Interfaces. Whenever I try to add a filter (this is a fixed filter, let’s say it’s part of a chart) on a date field where the filter does not use an exact date (for example, uses “number of days ago”), I get an error message that you can see in the image below.
