This walkthrough will show you how to:Use the ‘Generate Structured Data with AI’ action to extract data from multiple fields Use that array in a Repeating Group to create multiple records in a different tableAllowing you to turn data like this, which:Tries to do too much in a single row (multiple children’s data in a single record instead of one record each) Important info stuck in free-form text fields (favorite toy and age should be in different fields)Into this, where each child is its own record and the data is organized in the correct fields:Note how we’ve extracted the favorite toy and the age from the same text field! Here’s the completed example base for reference, and we can easily adapt this to extract data from long blocks of text, PDFs, etc.1. Set up your automation triggerTo start with, we’ll create a checkbox field that we’ll use to trigger the automation on each record:2. Add a ‘Generate structured data’ step by clicking ‘Add advanced logic or action’, hovering over ‘Gene
Simple version (so you can cut and paste, and put to use) Link to demo base:TestLab Status Airtable TestLab Status - Airtable Explore the "TestLab Status" base on Airtable. Table 1: Latest Status LEFT( RIGHT(status_&"", LEN(status_&"") -FIND({Last Updated}&"",status_&"")-23 ), FIND({Last Updated}&"", RIGHT(status_&"",LEN(status_&"") -FIND({Last Updated}&"",status_&"")-23) )-1 ) Last Updated is just pulling the latest date for the linked records in Status Update Records. TheStatus_ is looking up all of the status-helpers for the linked records so they can be searched through by the Latest Status formula. Table 2: Helper-status field is simply {Status Date}&Status&{Status Date} Its easy enough to repeat for multiple fields, I recommend using notepadd++ to copy the Latest Status formula to find&replace old field name the new one. . . . . Hi Airtable builders (and Shopify merchants) 👋 Many of our users asked for a way to sync Shopify product and variant images to Airtable. So we built this new feature with SyncBase (our Airtable-Shopify integration)! How does it work? Our app creates a “Products” table inside a new base (or inside an existing one if you prefer). On this table, you’ll now find an “Images” field (Attachment field type) containing all your product images from your store. You can add or remove any image directly from Airtable. => And best of all, it syncs instantly! ⚡ I hope this new feature helps some of you build your own Shopify PIM, ERP, or custom workflows inside Airtable. You can of course install and try the app for free. We’re also about to release a feature that syncs all your Shopify files and media (including images) into a single Airtable table (with fields like file ID, alt text, and more) so you can manage everything from one place.Always happy to hear your feedback, so let me know if thi
I created a short video tutorial showing how to generate PDF documents directly from Airtable using the CraftMyPDF extension. In the tutorial, I walk through how to:Prepare your Airtable base with the required fields Install the CraftMyPDF extension Design a reusable PDF template with a drag-and-drop editor Map Airtable fields into the PDF document Generate the final PDF and save it back into an Airtable attachment fieldThis workflow is useful if you want to automate document generation without manually copying Airtable data into Word, Google Docs, or PDF templates. Here’s the video tutorial:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGhycaaelksAny questions, feel free to let me know.
I’m from Ukraine, so bare with my English.) For some months I develop game-mechanics and for a few weeks I try an implementation on Airtable. And I have some issues and some problems here. So I would be quite grateful for some help. My DB consists of lots of tables, among them are ASPIRATIONS (what I try to achieve by my actions), ACTIONS (list of actions I presume to be potentially helpful if practiced regularly), QUESTS (taking an action for some exact number of repetitions during a period of time), DAYS (every record is a day of game with according events), REPETITIONS (each repetition of each quest must be there), TRANSACTION (each gain or loss of points must be accounted for). For example I add an Aspiration like “Lose 10 kilos of body weight”, then I add Actions wich I see helpful with such a target like “Run a mile a day”, then I may take a Quest with this Action. If I see subjective difficulty of this Action as 3 (of 10), than taking this Action in a Quest for a week will cost
Hey everyone, first post here! But I thought that this would be a good spot to share what I have been working on here in Airtable. I am a social entrepreneur within the education social impact space that has been using AI to reimagine how to better allocate education funds to reach benchmarks such as adequacy, equity and joy via our education investments. This is my third project and this time i tried to make it a little more simple meaning not aiming for a “full stack” product. So, recently I built a redistribution simulator for state education finance using Airtable as the entire backend and interface layer. The aim is for the platform to enable policymakers describe a redistribution goal in plain English and receive a structured policy analysis — what the move accomplishes, what it costs, who supports it, who opposes it, and whether to proceed. It is using real data from all 500 Pennsylvania school districts, representing a $4.5 billion statewide adequacy gap identified after a 2023 co
Hi everyone!I’ve just launched a new Airtable extension called Text Cleanup Tools on the marketplace, and I’d love to get some feedback from the community. It’s designed to make bulk text manipulation simple - things like: Capitalisation / title case Find + replace Adding prefixes/suffixes Whitespace cleanup URL slug generation + URL encoding …plus a bunch of other handy utilities. A couple of nice quality-of-life features I’m proud of: Full undo/redo support Live preview before you commit changes We’ve been using it internally for a while and it’s already saved us a heap of time, but I’d really appreciate feedback from other real world users. Things we might be missing, workflows we haven’t thought of, or edge cases we should support. You can find it here:https://airtable.com/marketplace/blkhN5rtH7lR6D7q6/text-cleanup-toolsThere’s a generous free tier (I hope!), but as a thanks for any feedback in advance, here’s a coupon that unlocks the pro features for free: IWMJM1NA (curr
For anyone else who hasn’t had a perfect experience with the new Custom Interface Extensions, or like me has gotten this terrible message:{“error”: “FORBIDDEN”,“message”: “You can only run your development block in the original base where it was created.”}I have found a super easy solution. If you ask Omni to build you a simple custom interface extension, you can then go and hit “Edit Source” (right below the “Share Interface” button) and change the script however you’d like. I fed it to Claude, had Claude insert itself into the interface (plus it has Airtable MCP) and now have a simple RAG for my Airtable base. But you can really change the script however you’d like, without going down the CLI/Blocks SDK route.
Just upgraded our favorite iOS shortcut and had to share this with you all! Many users have been using this "Save AI Audio Notes to Airtable" shortcut for months, and the new version is more simplified and easy to use. You literally just speak your thoughts, and it automatically transcribes, structures the data with ChatGPT, and saves everything to your Airtable base. What I love most:- Records your voice notes instantly- ChatGPT processes and structures the messy transcript- Saves both the clean data AND original audio file to Airtable- One-time setup, no monthly subscriptions (unlike those $100+/year apps)The setup takes maybe 10 minutes - you copy a sample base, create an access token, and install the shortcut. That's it.You can use it for everything now - grocery lists, meeting notes, random ideas. The fact that it keeps the original audio means I never lose context, and the AI formatting makes everything actually usable. If you're already using Airtable and want to capture thoughts
This blog post by Airtable recommends using Airtable as a DAM (digital asset management) tool.My company uses Airtable as a DAM, and when I was a consultant, I worked on projects involving using Airtable as a DAM. Airtable's blog article leaves out a few concepts that you should consider if you want to use Airtable as a DAM.- Most DAMs also provide CDN (content delivery network) services. Airtable has stated that it is not designed to be a CDN. The loss of permanent attachment URLs matches the idea of Airtable not being a CDN. If you want to use Airtable as a DAM, make sure that you don't also need it to be a CDN.- Most of the systems that I have built for using Airtable as a DAM involved at least one third-party service, and some use multiple third-party services. Due to their nature, digital assets tend to be consumed outside of Airtable. Think through how you will integrate your Airtable content with where the content will be consumed. Make sure that wherever is recei
Page Designer is one of the oldest Airtable extensions around. It can be useful. But the limitations can be really annoying. One of the big limitations is that it's quite difficult to create multi-page documents. However, there is a workaround you can use and we demonstrate it in this video. We also show how you can overcome another Page Designer limitation - lack of automation - using DocuPotion.Hope it's useful and any questions let me know.Alex
Hey guys, I have been using Airtable for a few months now and am curious about potential cross overs to another of my favorite tools, Obsidian. Has anyone done any interesting experiments yet? or have any tips for me?
Airtable has just released a popup to allow cookies on all embed views making my app not usable anymore....Each time I refresh the page, the same popup is displayed !How can I get rid of this popup allowing cookie ?Thank you for your help!
Hello,I've built and optimized an AI Slack bot for quick AI actions. It's built on top of my existing powersync architecture - which allows to connect Airtable and Slack.I think there's an advantage in a narrow AI like this over generic AI agent with access to Airtable via MCP.A generic AI agent utilizes the MCP to fetch more context. It might load the schema, or extra information from Slack and then start performing actions. This AI bot has context carefully prepared ahead of time. That means it can act quicker - there's no need to rely on reasoning (which slows things down) and also it doesn't require a large model, it can get a way with smaller but more performant one.The overall promise of such AI bot is to act quickly in Slack when needed - add tasks, manage activities, add contacts, log standup records. The admin UI allows to define a precise boundary - which tables and fields can be accessed and if records can be created, updated or both.Additionally - once a record is created, th
Hey there Builders! 👋I just dropped a toolkit so you can vibe code your ❤️ out with Airtable's Custom Interfaces. It’s made building custom interfaces unbelievably faster for me.Custom Interfaces let you build dashboards, forms, charts, and interactive tools that live right inside your base. They're incredibly powerful, but they require React code. Though with the help of Claude and this toolkit, this isn't really a problem anymore for my non devs. Vibe code away! 🚀The toolkit has two parts:1. An SKILL.MD file that teaches Claude (or any coding assistant) how to code with entire Interface Extensions: reading data, writing data, custom properties, every field type, dark mode, Tailwind setup, and common mistakes to avoid. Upload it to Claude Projects and you can describe what you want in plain English. 2. Reusable helpers for the patterns every extension needs: safe field access that doesn't crash on missing fields, linked record pills that match Airtable's native UX, inline field edit
Hello to all Airtable fans!I am making a game on Airtable. It's a football manager or a football club simulator. When I started the development, I set a condition for myself - the game will be played using only the built-in functionality of Airtable - data, forms, interfaces, automations, scripts. No external integrations that take the game's logic outside. Developing this game for me is primarily about exploring the limits of Airtable's capabilities. The gameplay is quite primitive for now - you can buy/sell players, conduct training, send a team to a game, match generation, stadium expansion.I am now recruiting players for the first test season.Registration requires an Airtable account (I will share interfaces). A love for football or football managers as a game genre will be a plus)))For communication, we will use Slack.Follow the link for registration:https://airtable.com/app4yD2wv3ksj9DvX/shrZdcgQvw3oXdXe9
I’d love to see an integration or extension for Airtable that enables automated image generation using data from records. Many teams—especially in marketing, eCommerce, and sales—often need to create social media posts, banners, product visuals, or branded creatives. Doing this manually is time-consuming, especially when the content changes frequently.Use Case Examples: Marketing Teams – Automatically generate social media graphics or ad creatives based on campaign details in Airtable. E-commerce Businesses – Create product banners that update dynamically with new prices, SKUs, or images from Airtable records. Sales Teams – Generate personalized outreach banners using client-specific fields (like name, company, or offer). HR & Internal Comms – Design recruitment creatives, event posters, or announcement banners based on internal data. How It Could Work: Users design image templates with placeholders for text, images, and colors. Airtable data fills in these placeholders dyn
Hey community!!From March 1 to March 17 builders from all over the world have been really pushing Airtable to it’s limits working on their submissions for the Airtable Community Led Hackathon!I was absolutely impressed to see stuff built that I had absolutely no clue Airtable was capable of doing (I really mean it. In fact I submitted a small demo of my own as well, with features I did not know existed). If you want to get your mind blow away, make sure to take a look at the different submissions for this year’s edition (Theme: Let’s Play). Also, make sure to like those videos you enjoy the most, as the most liked YouTube video will be winning the Baefulencer award!!!!!!Mike, Consultant @ Automatic Nation YouTube Channel I’ll be sharing more on this later today!
Hi!I've been building a platform called powersync that aims to provide easy-to-setup real-time functionality on top of Airtable. Besides an existing `schema changelog` engine that allows to track changes to fields and tables in an airtable base, the platform now also offers these bi-directional airtable record -> slack message flows. On the powersync side you select a base, table and a condition for sending messages to slack. But as opposed to native integration, the Slack message also updates if the Airtable record updates. And there's an option setup editable fields and custom flows on emoji reactions.I'd like to do more in this area, perhaps a configurable AI chatbot to do CRUD operations directly from Slack. Or sync of all slack messages back to Airtable. The overall goal here is to empower users where they already are (Slack) and allow them to do quick actions without having to context switch. This engine is now in beta and free for the time being, later it will have usage based p
Did you know Airtable custom interfaces could generate SOUND 🎸🎸🎸?For sure, I didn’t. In fact, when thinking about what to build for the AT Community-Led Hackathon, I tried to find something that would really take Airtable to its limits.Something that shouldn’t be possible (and I could always go back to basics for my final submission). And… that’s how I came up with this version of Howie’s Rock Show. Think Guitar Hero, but running in Airtable.First Omni prompt:Create three buttons, assign different sounds to each. They should reproduce their sound when clicked. That actually worked (in one shot)!!!!So… I went all in. Great db architecture makes this so much fun: I created a Songs table, a Song Notes table (my Airtable version of the score/sheet music), and a Plays table. The Songs table includes fields such as BPM.The Song Notes table includes fields such as Note Duration. Then I just spun up this version (which is definitely not the final one!). How is your build coming along? If you d

Ever since Airtable changed their Attachment URL expiry window to 2 hours, I had to setup automations using Make to upload files to S3.This worked great, but I recently build a custom extension to get this to work without using Make. So, I started building an Airtable extension to bridge this gap. The goal is to keep it all inside the Airtable UI (see the screenshot of what I have so far): You select your attachment field. The extension mirrors the file to a permanent bucket in the background. It writes the non-expiring CDN URL back to a field of your choice. I’m still polishing this, but I wanted to see if anyone else would actually find this useful compared to the current Zapier/Make methods. Is "reduced friction" enough of a reason to switch, or are most of you happy with your current S3 setups? If there's enough interest, I'll keep pushing to get this ready for a public release.
I tested out Superagent today and this is what it created as a Super Report based on the prompt below. https://superagent.com/website/f383953b-b7e7-40c9-b247-6db19cd35539_stored_entitiesVery Cool! The interactive graphics are interesting. Prompt: I'm interested in creating a skateboarding video series on YouTube. I've gotten pretty good at mini-ramp combos and I want to make a series where I complete a difficult trick and add graphic overlays that match the styles of popular video games. Then the audience can guess which game the style is from to create engagement. I'm interested in research about creators who make similar content. What can I bring to to the table to make this creative unique?
I faced this problem as we had to track daily metrics for each employee, which ended up generating dozens of records a day. This became a problem pretty quickly for obvious reasonsAs a workaround, I ended up setting up a system to archive the old data while leaving the original base alone, and the steps are pretty much:Create a new base for archiving purposes Create a synced view and sync it to the new base In the sync settings, toggle on ‘Leave records when they are deleted or hidden in the source’ Create a heartbeat in the destination base This is important as syncs only happen on bases that have activity on them Set up an automation in the main base to delete the old records---1. Create a new base for archiving purposesI’m pretty sure everyone knows how to do this one, so I’m just going to skip it heh 2. Create a synced view and sync it to the new baseClick ‘Share and sync’ Click ‘Sync data to another base’ Toggle on ‘Allow data in this view to be synced to other bases’ Optional
Hi everyone! I’ve been testing out Superagent to see how it can streamline our operations at Nicat, and the results are game-changing.The Use Case: As a co-founder, I often need to synthesize data from multiple tables—linking project milestones, resource allocation, and budget burn rates. Traditionally, this required complex rollups or manual formula building. I wanted to see if Superagent could act as a "Virtual COO" to give me instant health reports. The Prompt I used:"Analyze the 'Project Milestones' and 'Budget' tables. Identify any projects that are currently over 70% through their timeline but have utilized less than 30% of their allocated budget. Provide a summary of potential bottlenecks and suggest an updated resource allocation plan to ensure we hit our Q1 targets."The Result: Superagent didn't just pull the numbers; it identified a specific project at Nicat that was stalled due to a pending documentation phase. It suggested reallocating two engineers to a secondary high-prior
