How to make new inventory items automatically link to the corresponding room in our building by linking or with a formula or automation.When a new item is added, how can I make that item auto populate in another tab by room (multi select)?This is the base. We have a robust inventory with “ALL ITEMS” and items by room. We want each item entered into “ALL ITEMS” to populate in the room selected via “multiselect.This shows the multiselect tab. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

I’m trying to create a database to track income from various deals. I have several different types of deals with different commission rates and they are covered in separate tables - but often several types of deal will apply to one title (I’m a literary agent) and I’m trying to bring it all together so I know, for each title, what the author earned and what the agency earned.I’ve successfully set this up using look up fields for one set of deals but now I’ve started adding in another set and something is going wrong but I can’t see what I’m doing differently. The main information is clearly coming through because the name field (which is generated via automation when the original table is updated) but the look up fields for those records aren’t pulling through. Any thoughts why that might be? Thanks   

I'm running into an issue with how our team interacts with our employee database through interfaces.We have staff who need to edit certain fields in the record detail view, but we're constantly running the risk of someone accidentally overwriting key info with a wrong input. Making the detail record view view only isn't an option, because they still need to be able to update certain data when necessary.What we really need is some kind of toggle in the detail record view that lets you switch between "view" and "edit" mode—so by default it's safe to browse, but editing can be turned on when needed.Is there anything like this available? Or any workarounds you've used to prevent accidental edits while still allowing flexibility? Thanks! 

Has anyone found a workaround for being able to track who submits a response setting blocking people without Editor seat type being unable to upload attachments in the form?I have a form that we need to see who created the item and also allow them to attach items to the attachments field. When you enable the “See who submitted a response” setting it appears that only users with Editor seat types are allowed to upload items. I've tried adjusting the permissions on the attachments field itself to allow setting it via forms, but that does not solve the issue. 

Hi. I am using Airtable to track Multiple projects in my role as Chef of Staff. Each Project has multiple smaller projects each with its own set of tasks. Each project has its own list of vendors and different individuals responsible for activities to that specific project. Each project has its own budget. I'm struggling to figure out how to load this format in my Base which I call Anatoli's Super Tracker. Can you show me where to learn how to do this or give me some directions. Thanks. I unable to add a new record by searching and linking to employee by searching for first name. I have two tables. A occurrence table, and employee table.This inputs into occurrence table. Only link between occurrence and employee table is employee ID. Any recommendations?   

I've created a summarization in excel that I want to replicate in airtable, I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.I have a production operation for large machines. Here are the main steps: I pick up inventory on Date A, at a cost of X I predict I will sell the inventory on Date B, at a revenue of Y My data table is: Machine Build #, Date A, Cost X, Date B, Rev YI want to summarize a bunch of things on based on those dates, costs, and revenue.A. By week, how much am I going to spend buying inventory (sum of Cost X, by week based on Date A) B. By week, how much cash am I going to generate selling my inventory (sum of Rev Y, by week based on Date B) C. By week, how much inventory do I have (Sum of Cost X, based on Dates A and B)Any thoughts on how to do this??

The customer > order > product linking example use case is clear to me.What’s less clear is having 12 tables of similar data for 12 clients and how to link them into a master table.The 12 clients share 8 core fields including a unique identifier for records. Each client has 4-6 fields unique to their business. Those 48+ unique fields make one table cluttered, and in my opinion, necessitate 12 tables linked into a master table. That way, each client can have their particularities, but I can have a master table, master calendar, insight into potential staffing issues, etc.How do I set up a master table to pull all records (and 8 core fields) from 12 tables that all share the same unique identifier format?

I have a field with multiple select options in a table. When I click the Approve field (checkbox), I want the data (the selected options) to be copied to a namesake field in another table. Currently, I have the namesake field in the 2nd table as a single line text and so it works. However, in the 2nd table, it does not appear as multi option data. The challenge is that I am running a marketplace app and I want to create a filter-based search option and single line data doesn’t work. There is a video posted in a previous question but that doesn’t solve my problem. I also tried to link the 2nd table’s field to the first but no luck. Would this be possible in the first place? As always, many many thanks for the tips.

Hi If it’s doable, I’d like to solve this problem. For the sake of simplicity, there are two tables in the base: Projects and RFPs. In the Project stable, there’s a single select “Project Type”, with options “Project; RFP”. I would like a lookup field in the Projects table that’s only enabled when “Project Type” is “RFP” to look up the relevant record from the RFPs table. Can it be done?  

My base has a subtask column - I can an unlimited amount of subtasks I need to be able to have a dedicated status option for each subtask. I also need to allocate each subtask to a different user

Hey Guys! Hoping everyone is well. I'm finding myself wanting to bulk-update records by a specific field and I'm wondering if this is possible? Does anyone know? Is there a script or anything? See the two fields? "Goes out to" and "Status"? Both are single select and currently I need to update each record individually which is time-consuming on some of our tables. They can have hundreds of records that need updating. What I would loooooove to be able to do is select multiple records and update the statuses on the selected records in one action. Anyone have a way to do this?

Hello everyone,I'm experiencing an issue with one of my Airtable bases and a Google Drive synchronization. For the past few days, a specific table that is linked to a Google Drive folder has stopped syncing. I haven't made any changes to the base, the Google Drive folder, or the synchronization settings.The error message I'm receiving is: "Unable to sync new data."I've already tried checking the connection to Google Drive and restarting Airtable, but the issue persists. Has anyone encountered this error before or have any suggestions on how to resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance."

I’d like to use AT to create a Directory of our 400+ members.  I’ve set up the fields + form for Members to submit their details. I would like to also use this for our internal team - so they can record notes of all calls with each member and other details.  I understand how to create hidden fields that the members don’t see, however I’m unclear on the best way to create the “member notes” piece -- should I link to a Member Notes document on our Google Drive or can I do this all inside of AT?   We will be asking Members to complete the profiles and for those members who do not, we will add them but keep their profile private.  I’m unclear how to do this also. I’m also unsure how to set up my team members to be able to access the directory backend to add notes.  I’m on the free version and hoping to not require an upgrade.  Any help is welcome!  I am not a ‘techy” but feel confident it should be relatively easy to do.  Tha

Hi I receive email orders and would like to add the received emails to the order record in my Airtable. Tried a drag and drop but this transfers the message from Outlook as a .msg, which can’t be read. Occasionally there are multiple emails, and I would like to have them all in the same place, with the particular order. Any help appreciated!

Hello there,We have been thinking about how to approach this, but it seems we are unclear about the options or simply don’t see the solution.We are creating a base designed to handle multiple tenants.Tenants must be able to view and edit only the records linked to them. Additionally, we are facing a challenge when linking new records, as it appears that the records must be manually assigned by selecting a collaborator (i.e., current user filtered view).That’s the general overview.Key questions: Beyond linking collaborators to the current user, is it possible to associate users with a group and dynamically use that group to filter views in interfaces? Does the Portals feature provide the functionality we need? Since there is no trial, we cannot validate it ourselves—perhaps someone else has insight into this? I can’t be the only one who finds the edit field dialogue box for single and multiple select fields outrageously small, can I? If we have two or three dozen options, or even more, how are we supposed to manage them when we can only see three or four at a time? Is there an extension or something that helps with this?  

Hello, my airtable is used within data within a project management platform I built in sotfr. my client portal users enter data via a softr modal which lands into the airtable and a softr table view that displays the entered data. I need each entries of by user to be auto-numbered from 1 to whatever the final entry is.For example if the data represented a christmas wishlist, and little bobby entered a “toy truck”, “building blocks”, and “book”, I need the list to show:toy truck Building blocks bookAnd if little tommy entered “Basketball”, “ipod”, and “ball cap” the list should be basketball ipod ballcapThe number needs to be hard coded to the entry, so that when the list is sorted differently the number follows along, for example, if I sort little tommy’s list within the softr presentation layer alphabetically the list should be:3. Hi, I would like to create a fitness tracker for our climbing team. I periodically test our athletes (ie, vertical jump, shoulder strength, etc). I would like to track each athlete’s test scores/numbers, enter that information into airtable and have the ability to track each athlete’s improvement for each fitness test. One test is the vertical jump. I will need to test their standing reach and then standing jump. Ideally, I want to enter standing reach every so often (not every test) since the kids don’t grow that quickly. But I want to update standing jump every time we test. How do I enter standing reach into airtable and be able to retrieve that for future tests? I would like future tests to record standing jump but then reference standing reach in order to calculate vertical jump (ie, standing jump less standing reach). Thoughts?

Hello folks, I am new to Airtable, any help is highly appreciated. I have different tables under the same base that tracks existing inventory and sales. I would like to create a third table that summarizes data for example I would like each row to represent a month and calculate profit/loss for that month but if I use rollup or formula fields it will apply the same formula into entire column which doens’t help my case. I need unique calculations to be carried for each row as each row will represent a month. 

I’m trying to display metrics on claims details on a line or bar chart.  I would like to be able to insert a “goal” line so we can see easily if we are above or below our goal.   Is there a way to do this, or is there anything in the works that could accommodate this request?

I’m missing which field/value is used with two tables are linked. Can someone point me in the right direction? In particular,  I have a master business directory table and I want use automation to push in the linking value to the separate Department table. I would have thought that they are linked on the record id, but when I try to push the Department record ID into the master table, it’s not recognized. It seems to want the department name, which is not always unique. Is there a place to see the linking values between tables?

Hello, I am using FILLOUT forms in integration with Airtable.I saw something strange, that if I define a filter on records in my database, then in FILLOUT, I can only select the records that are displayed in the database, even though they are in the table, they are just not displayed because of the filter.Does anyone know if there is any way to solve this problem?
