Hi guys, I hope you can help me with this Airtable I’m creating for a client of mine who is an accountant. I’m still a beginner (only used Airtable in my own small business for basic projectmanagement/to do stuff). Outline: My problem has to do with keeping a junction table up to date. Goal: My client uses an extensive checklist to keep track of vat-tax returns he does for his clients. All his clients are companies. Some companies have to report their vat-taxes monthly, some yearly, most quarterly. He wants to keep records of this checklist per year per company per term. My solution: I created a table ‘companies’ which stores all basic information. Then I learned about junction tables and gathered I would need to use them in this case. I created a table ‘year’ and a table ‘term’. The term table contains all term options (‘monthly’, ‘quarterly’ and ‘yearly’). Hey all, I manage a makerspace at a college and I’ve been using Airtable for about a year. It has really helped me organize the makerspace operations–especially keeping track of which users have completed training on the various equipment we have. My question today is about overall base design. I currently have one table that has user information: name, email, etc. and three columns for each piece of equipment: Date training completed, a link to the staff that gave the training, and a formula that shows whether the training has expired or not. We currently have 14 or 15 trainings, and the table is getting difficult to read. It just occurred to me to create another table for the trainings (or each of the trainings) and then link those to the “User information” table. This was one of my first bases and I pulled it in from a spreadsheet, so it behaves much more like a spreadsheet and less like a database.

Is it possible to use the input a user puts in the first field in a form in the description of another field in the same form?

Using a Form Entry Repeat a Record with a Date Change Records are being added by various people using a form. I am currently asking them to maually repeat their entry for up to 13 times with only the date changing. I am trying to work out how Airtable can recognise a new record with a value in NO of Weeks and automatically add a record for a specific number of times with the date changing for the same number of times My columns field headings are “DATE” “NO OF WEEKS” “COUNT DOWN” “CLASS” “NAME” As another record is added the DATE needs to add seven days and will stop repeating when it has been repeated to the value of “NO OF WEEKS” Is it possible for the table to recognise a value in NO OF WEEKS and run an automation or duplication with only a DATE change? Can somebody tell me if this is even possible but ideally, tell me how.

Hi, my colleague got this really weird problem. Starting last week, when she tries to enter text in a Long Text field, it delete each letter after she types it. So she sees the letter for a second or two then it deletes itself. She’s been using this fields for months without any issues. Here’s what I tried so far. Close all her browsers and reboot the PC = Did not solve the problem I tried logging with her account from my PC = It worked!!! I created a Long Text field on another table without activating the rich text formatting = It worked for both of us!!! So it looks like when she tries to type anything in a long text field with the rich text formatting activated, it does not work anymore for my colleague. Beside removing the rich text formatting on the field, do you have another solution that I didn’t tried? Thanks Annie

Hello Airtable Community, I have started using this amazing tool a few weeks ago and I still have a lot to learn. That being said, I am working on a order form with many fields. The order form part is right but now I am thinking about usability. What I mean is that I would like to be able to break the data coming from the form into 3 tables (Customer, Taxes, Invoices) and I would need these 3 tables to be in sync (e.g. when I filter things in one table, the second and third one should change accordingly). I have been exploring the “link to record” function with poor results: when the data from the form come in, they are captured only in the first table even if there are linked records in the second one. As a summary, I would like to get the data from the form spread across 3 synched tables. Sorry if my need is confusing. Happy to provide more info. Hello! We are using Airtable for developing and managing a program of work. We have one table with milestones and another with the detailed tasks. The detailed tasks have start and end dates and we were hoping that the milestones table could pull the earliest start date of all the tasks linked to that milestone, and the same with the latest date so that the milestone date range auto-updates as you update tasks. Is there a way todo this?

I’m trying to automate/randomize my opponent’s actions in a simulation game. Imagine four types of troops. Let’s call them Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery and Support. EACH of these four types has a variation (let’s say normal, inexperienced and elite). Each ALSO has a combat stance (let’s call them Surprised, defending, bloodied and fresh), and further there is a weather effect on each of them (hot, cold, wet, windy.) I have a different table for EACH of these combinations and generate a random number (1:100) to determine what action the unit then takes (Main attack, manuever, special attack, retreat.) I’d like to be able to automate this so I can “tell” my Db that I have an Infantry unit, elite, bloodied, in the rain, generate the random number, then spit out the result. I just can’t wrap my head around the initial design/setup of the Db! Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

It would be faster to edit and add data to the tables/spreadsheets if users could temporarily swap the x-axis with the y-axis and scroll through the various fields to enter. The properties of each record would flow from top to bottom for easier mouse scrolling, but then you could put it back to the default display type when you’re done modifying a record or creating a new one.

Hello Everyone! I am currently designing a product manufacturing pipeline on airtable. My company manufactures a variety of products, each with a different process. I want to be able to fill out a form that allows me to specify which product I want to manufacture, and based on the inputs in the form, it automatically generates a base that contains all the steps needed to manufacture a specific product. The steps would be generated based on the different inputs in the form.

I am an Airtable newbie but familiar with database design in general. I am struggling with a relatively simple design that would be relatively easy in SQL design. I am building a relatively basic CRM system. Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities (there are other tables but that isn’t relevant). Obviously, multiple Contacts are associated with one Account. Multiple Opportunities are associated with one Account. Each Opportunity has only one Contact owner and that Contact works for that Account. Create New Opportunity. Link the Account and the list of Accounts comes up - select one of them. Add Opportunity Owner by hitting the plus symbol and every Contact in Contacts is presented, not just the Contacts associated with the Account. I am surely doing something incorrectly. How do I get the second Linked field to be filtered by the first Linked field? Thank you for helping a newbie out.

Hey friends. I just signed up for Airtable & need a little help tying some records together using Webflow, Memberstack & Airtable. Here’s how it works: Someone signs up for my service for couples. When person A in the relationship signs up, I get person B’s email address & send them a signup link to a free membership (person A already paid). Person A fills out their personality profile in their login, and person B does the same. But I need a way to look up and link A & B in Airtable so I can tell them info about each other’s personality. What’s the best way to do that? I could ask person B for person A’s email and then look up in Airtable but I feel like that could cause problems if person A has multiple emails. I could send person B a code that they would enter when they sign up. What’s best/easiest and how do I actually do the linking in Airtable? Thanks!

I am VERY new to database design and app dev. i am attempting to build a small app for our housing applicants, that will allow them to log in with the last 4 of their SSN, and be shown what number they are on the waiting list, as they wait for their housing app to be processed. I have no idea how to do this. I do have some basic tables built, but do not know how to accomplish what I am seeking to do. Help is greatly needed and appreciated. :slightly_smiling_face: Thanks.

Hi all, I’m currently trying to build a base that will allow me to segment a customer list based on they product they have purchased as well as whether they have purchased the same product multiple times within a variable timeframe. Data will be updated in the table via csv upload on a periodic basis. I am trying to figure out the best way to arrange the table structure. I have included an example base. The ‘Product ID’ field would be the one for tracking the purchase behavior. I’m happy to read up on other previous posts, but don’t really know what to even be looking for here. Thanks in advance for any help!

I am new to Airtable but am very familiar with MS Access and other relational DBs, but am having a hard time joining two tables on an ID column. I’ve gone through the tutorials provided by Airtable but still it is not making sense. Is it possible to simply create a view to include all data from two tables, by joining on the ID column that is identical in both tables?

Hey guys, made the shift over to air table from the good old days of microsoft access, but I am having troubles with an ingredient/inventory tracker I’m making. Essentially: I need a table called ‘Ingredients in Stock’ each record is an ingredient and the first field is an amount calculated from another table of order amounts, ie: when the order form is filled out for a certain ingredient, the first field in the in stock table is populated with the logged amount ordered. All good so far. No I have another side to the system where there’s recipes, with gram amounts for each ingredient and a log every time a recipe is made. Every time a recipe is made, I need the ingredient gram amounts in the recipe logged to populate another field in the in stock table to track the amount used. Then I would be making another field which subtracts amount used from amount ordered. So the question is: best way to set up each recipe? All recipes in one table, with the ingredient

Good Morning everyone, I work in a nursing home and was asked to look into a program that we would be able to document Activity attendance and then create a chart/file on the individual resident with the data we received. I created a form that the staff uses to do the documentation but now I am lost with how to link each resident to the data we have. My main goal is when a staff member plugs into the form that Jane Doe in room ### played Bingo on this day and have that info go straight into Jane Doe’s file. So when the Department of Health comes to evaluate residents I can pull up individual residents and they can see all the activities that they participated in, in one file no digging and sorting to go through. Sorry if this all seems scattered and confusing. I am working through COVID 19 and trying to get my mindset in the right place and want to make sure I still do everything I can to make my co-worker’s job easier. Signed a tired health

I have a reading log base that I’ve adapted from the ‘Book catalog’ template. I have 4 tables: Titles, Authors, Narrators, Pseudonyms. I couple of things I’m not sure how to do are: Link pseudonyms to authors/narrators without having multiple records (see Cornell Collins/Matthew Lloyd Davies in the screenshot) Log re-reads by date (like you can in Goodreads) without creating additional records for a title. At the moment I have the following fields: Date started; Date finished. I don’t want to overwrite these fields every time I re-read as one of my aims with the log is to record how many books I’ve read in a year (and re-reads count). Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, how can I create a sidepanel/sitebar/menu like you see on the picture?

I am scheduling weekly covid tests and there are different testing schedules. I want to automatically scheduled the next test based on their schedule. So I mark a record that a test has been taken (check box), I want a formula to check their testing status (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), and automatically create a new record with the next test date. I can do certain days out, for weekly schedules, DATEADD({Test Date}, 7, ‘DAY’) but not sure how to make it day of the week specific. I have a multiple select field that is dedicated to the days of the week they are testing, but I can change their field if there’s a field type that works better
