To those experienced users out there. I am a new user of Airtable. I am planning to use Airtable to track Quality. In this case, I have (A lot) of bases. Database of products Sales Order Input. Refer to Database of products for one field Base for Production Planning. Refer to Multiple fields on Sales Order Input Base for Shipping Planning. Refer to Multiple fields on Sales Order Input Base for Phase 1 Production Tracking Base for 1st Quality Inspection. Base for Repair Tracking (on 1st Quality Inspection) Base for Phase 2 Production Tracking Base for 2nd Quality Inspection Base for Repair Tracking (on 2nd Quality Inspection) Base for Shipping Quality Inspection Base for # orders, production, and shipping. There’s also another base to aggregate all the NCR on all those bases, and some others … but I will skip those for now. My question is this. Is this common in Airtable? Having a lot of shared bases, I mean. Some of my items can be done either by linked table or by automation (w
I would like viewers to be able to filter a table by a value in a lookup field without typing it in themselves. Is there a way to have lookup field values from a multiple select list come through as defined list items.
I want to create a stock photos library that anyone can upload their photos to via a form. I want their file uploads to fill multiple records, not just a single record with multiple attachments.
HI! I have a mushroom farm and we are looking to use airtable to track our lab work. Each table represents a different lab item, (Liquid Cultures, Agar Plates, Grain Spawn bags, Substrate Bags) and each Lab Item has a “Source” which could be any of the other lab items. How can I have a “Source” field in the Substrate Bag table that links to items in the other Liquid Cultures, Agar Plates and Grain Spawn bag tables? Many Thanks!
I have a simple shop with 5 products without any property other than name and price. I have lot of customers with name, email, phone and delivery address. What I need is to create two tables: order and invoice. Could you help me with that? Thanks!
Hi, I’m wondering, are their universal and dynamically updated field types that we can be provided? I’m thinking things like Countries, States/Provinces, Cities? I believe there are lookups for these from an integration perspective from well known sources. However, would it be possible to have them just be available as a field type for simpler use? Thanks!
Hi all, I’m charged with organizing 19 sessions of the same event, and need to track a purchaser and 5 participants for each - including everyone’s contact info. For each session, I’m looking to create a one-page summary report showing the basic info for the session, and the 5 participants. We’re not talking a huge project here, but It’s my first database ever. I was quickly overwhelmed by MS Access, so I tried Airtable, and love it. Now that I’m almost finished the database though, I’ve discovered that (I think) the only way to create the one-page report I’m looking for is to sign up for a $240 yearly Pro plan, which totally isn’t worth it. Have I used a sledgehammer to kill an ant here? I’m really eager to learn new things, and Airtable looks great and has been fairly easy to learn, but I feel like I’ve hit a brick wall just trying to produce the simplest of reports here. Any advice would be appreciated. I’ll just use spreadsheets if I have to, but Airtable looks so promising an
I do consultations by phone and follow-up with an email. The follow-up email template consists of approximately 600 possible paragraphs. Each paragraph has a number, i.e. 1.0. Most paragraphs are straight text, but some paragraphs also contain data that needs to be entered, if the paragraph has been selected for printing. I want to be able to submit the paragraph numbers desired and have Airtable export a text file with the final selections that I can copy/paste into the body of my email message. My time is limited. Is there someone who would set this up for me? I have staff who could enter the paragraph data. What I really need is someone well-versed in Airtable who can create the structure to do the above. I am Dr. Martin – drmartin@gamgroup.com or call 619-483-1906. Thanks.
Hi! This may be too big of a question but I wanted to try… there’s two components to what we want. 1 - Someone is going to enter their address via a form. We then want to search one of our tables to find every office within say 10 miles of that person’s address. Is that possible? 2 - Once we hopefully have a list of offices that meet the location criteria, we’d want to show those offices on a map. Thanks!
Hello, I am trying to build a content tracker and there are going to be hundreds of entries every day. I will be creating views where people can filter post type with date. For Ex: I want to see “query” posted on 4th December. I want to see “post” posted between 4th December - 7th December. Should I create a new base for each date or should I continue updating the same base with hundreds of thousands of entries? Or is there a better way to do this that I am totally missing out on? Thanks
I have a table with 290 records and 10 fields that need to be updated yearly and I am struggling knowing if a record has been updated or not. Essentially I need help creating a system to track if records have been updated and if they need to be. My table consists of fields that either update all the records at once yearly, or get updates spontaneously throughout the year (sort of like a company yearly earnings). You know it is coming but they don’t release them all at the same time. Any suggestions of what it could look like? or how to think about this?
Have you come across this issue with the right click on Chrome not working on ChromeOS? Instead of the Airtable right click menu I would expect I get a browser menu. For example, when I try to delete a record, I get the browser menu. I didn’t see with any machines but one laptop Chromebook with latest OS.
Hi all, I have a couple fields in my base where the values are reviewed every few months (i.e. risk score increases or decreases according to mitigation measures). I would be interested in plotting how for example the risk score for a particular risk has changed over the course of the project. I know I can expand view and see how that record has been edited over time but I was wondering if there is a way to monitor changes to a particular field so that the data can be extracted automatically for graphs and tables etc… The only other thing I can think of is creating a new field every time the values are reviewed and then hiding them from view but that would just create so many fields over time. Thanks in advance for your help, Camilla
Hi guys, I hope you can help me with this Airtable I’m creating for a client of mine who is an accountant. I’m still a beginner (only used Airtable in my own small business for basic projectmanagement/to do stuff). Outline: My problem has to do with keeping a junction table up to date. Goal: My client uses an extensive checklist to keep track of vat-tax returns he does for his clients. All his clients are companies. Some companies have to report their vat-taxes monthly, some yearly, most quarterly. He wants to keep records of this checklist per year per company per term. My solution: I created a table ‘companies’ which stores all basic information. Then I learned about junction tables and gathered I would need to use them in this case. I created a table ‘year’ and a table ‘term’. The term table contains all term options (‘monthly’, ‘quarterly’ and ‘yearly’). The ‘year’ table contains… years! :slightly_smiling_face: Then I created the junction table itself. It’s called ‘VAT-taxes’. I
Hey all, I manage a makerspace at a college and I’ve been using Airtable for about a year. It has really helped me organize the makerspace operations–especially keeping track of which users have completed training on the various equipment we have. My question today is about overall base design. I currently have one table that has user information: name, email, etc. and three columns for each piece of equipment: Date training completed, a link to the staff that gave the training, and a formula that shows whether the training has expired or not. We currently have 14 or 15 trainings, and the table is getting difficult to read. It just occurred to me to create another table for the trainings (or each of the trainings) and then link those to the “User information” table. This was one of my first bases and I pulled it in from a spreadsheet, so it behaves much more like a spreadsheet and less like a database.
Hi Community, I am new to airtable and need assistance on a new project that involves collecting data through multiple forms with validation rules and finally presenting a dashboard for this data. here are my questions : List item Can i create forms with validation rules ? List item Can i store these in a central repository ? List item Can i use this repository to create a dashboard ? if yes how do i start this ? Regards Nitish
Is it possible to use the input a user puts in the first field in a form in the description of another field in the same form?
Using a Form Entry Repeat a Record with a Date Change Records are being added by various people using a form. I am currently asking them to maually repeat their entry for up to 13 times with only the date changing. I am trying to work out how Airtable can recognise a new record with a value in NO of Weeks and automatically add a record for a specific number of times with the date changing for the same number of times My columns field headings are “DATE” “NO OF WEEKS” “COUNT DOWN” “CLASS” “NAME” As another record is added the DATE needs to add seven days and will stop repeating when it has been repeated to the value of “NO OF WEEKS” Is it possible for the table to recognise a value in NO OF WEEKS and run an automation or duplication with only a DATE change? Can somebody tell me if this is even possible but ideally, tell me how.
Hi, my colleague got this really weird problem. Starting last week, when she tries to enter text in a Long Text field, it delete each letter after she types it. So she sees the letter for a second or two then it deletes itself. She’s been using this fields for months without any issues. Here’s what I tried so far. Close all her browsers and reboot the PC = Did not solve the problem I tried logging with her account from my PC = It worked!!! I created a Long Text field on another table without activating the rich text formatting = It worked for both of us!!! So it looks like when she tries to type anything in a long text field with the rich text formatting activated, it does not work anymore for my colleague. Beside removing the rich text formatting on the field, do you have another solution that I didn’t tried? Thanks Annie
Hello Airtable Community, I have started using this amazing tool a few weeks ago and I still have a lot to learn. That being said, I am working on a order form with many fields. The order form part is right but now I am thinking about usability. What I mean is that I would like to be able to break the data coming from the form into 3 tables (Customer, Taxes, Invoices) and I would need these 3 tables to be in sync (e.g. when I filter things in one table, the second and third one should change accordingly). I have been exploring the “link to record” function with poor results: when the data from the form come in, they are captured only in the first table even if there are linked records in the second one. As a summary, I would like to get the data from the form spread across 3 synched tables. Sorry if my need is confusing. Happy to provide more info. Thanks to anyone who will be so kind to invest some time on me :slightly_smiling_face: Cheers, Matteo
Hello! We are using Airtable for developing and managing a program of work. We have one table with milestones and another with the detailed tasks. The detailed tasks have start and end dates and we were hoping that the milestones table could pull the earliest start date of all the tasks linked to that milestone, and the same with the latest date so that the milestone date range auto-updates as you update tasks. Is there a way todo this?
I’m trying to automate/randomize my opponent’s actions in a simulation game. Imagine four types of troops. Let’s call them Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery and Support. EACH of these four types has a variation (let’s say normal, inexperienced and elite). Each ALSO has a combat stance (let’s call them Surprised, defending, bloodied and fresh), and further there is a weather effect on each of them (hot, cold, wet, windy.) I have a different table for EACH of these combinations and generate a random number (1:100) to determine what action the unit then takes (Main attack, manuever, special attack, retreat.) I’d like to be able to automate this so I can “tell” my Db that I have an Infantry unit, elite, bloodied, in the rain, generate the random number, then spit out the result. I just can’t wrap my head around the initial design/setup of the Db! Any helpful suggestions appreciated.
It would be faster to edit and add data to the tables/spreadsheets if users could temporarily swap the x-axis with the y-axis and scroll through the various fields to enter. The properties of each record would flow from top to bottom for easier mouse scrolling, but then you could put it back to the default display type when you’re done modifying a record or creating a new one.
Hello Everyone! I am currently designing a product manufacturing pipeline on airtable. My company manufactures a variety of products, each with a different process. I want to be able to fill out a form that allows me to specify which product I want to manufacture, and based on the inputs in the form, it automatically generates a base that contains all the steps needed to manufacture a specific product. The steps would be generated based on the different inputs in the form.
