Base Design

Hi all, Quick question to understand if unicode is supported in Airtable. Currently I have Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese that I wish to import into my airtable app. Vietnamese seems to have some issues. So just want to find out the supported languages. Thank you. 

I’m trying to create a weekly meal planning base (and app? Just starting with the base so far). For each week, I’d like to choose several recipes to make from a Recipes table, and I’d like to be able to check them off as I go.Linking multiple recipes is easy — this would just be a “link multiple.“ What’s not as obvious to me is how I might indicate completion status for each one.So far, I’ve ended up making another table called “Days,” in which each record has a link to a recipe and a checkbox for completion. Then I link multiple days in the week, instead of linking the recipes directly. The problem is that this gets pretty complicated when I just want to quickly plan a week. Can I work around this with clever app design? (Hi, I’m new here! 👋) Or should I be approaching the base design differently?Thanks!

I have a new repair business. I have two tables related to this question:One contains People, some of whom own items that they want repaired. The table includes contact info and the repairs they have submitted; the latter is a linked record field.The other contains Repairs, linking back to the item owners, providing all the details of the repair need, and indicating the current status in the repair process.I want to include a field in People showing Active Repairs, which are those that match certain statuses representing "incomplete." I've created this as a Lookup field and tried setting the source field a few different ways:If I set Repair Request, which is a formula field, I end up with an array of text items matching the names of the Repairs that are not clickable to link to those Repair records.If I set Repair ID, which is an autonumber field, I end up with an array of text items matching the Repair ID numbers that are equally not clicka

I am trying to build a shared database for ~30 research sites. There is a set of shared variables that all sites will track but sites also want the ability to track additional site-specific data points. Each site should get to see and edit ONLY their own records (i.e. they should not be able to see or edit any the individual records of any other sites). Each site should have access to an interface dashboard that shares summary data for the shared variables across all sites. I've tried a few different approaches, but haven't found the solution yet. I tried creating different views within the same table for each site, but I don't think that will work because I can't seem to restrict access to a view to only one site.I tried creating different tables within the same base for each site, but I don't think that will work because then I can't create a dashboard that aggregates across all sites.I think syncing may be an option, but we have the

Is there a full proof setting where editors are not able to add new select field options when using the CSV import extension?

Trying to do some base cleanup and design, and having trouble with dependency reporting. Table A has Field ATable B has Field B (Field A Lookup)On Table A, when viewing dependencies of Field A, it shows one dependency listed, which is as expected the Table B's Field B. It also notes in small text that 9 dependencies rely on Field B.On Table B, when viewing dependencies of Field B, it shows zero dependencies listed. So what is the disconnect here? Are there 9 dependencies on Field B or is it 0? If i delete Field B i get NO notifications/warnings, but im not sure if im breaking something somewhere else and wont know until i happen to come across it.How to troubleshoot and resolve this as its not just 1 field doing this, its regularly happening all over the place where the dependencies reported do not align.   

Hi all,I was wondering if anyone have experience with making a simple expense overview per project in Airtable?I'm thinking like maybe a quick registration per project with a drop down that determines what the income / expenses is and it add's each registration to an overview per project.Example if you want to register a invoice from a supplier you would choose expenses and do a little text like Supplier Name and the cost.Then it would on each project add these together and give a quick overview (something like attached picture)I hope it makes sense. I’ve read a couple threads on this but didn’t see an answer. When I open a Linked Record, the fields it shows do not directly correspond with any of my actual views from that table. I want to rearrange the fields for the Linked Records, but don’t know how to adjust if they don’t seem to be coming from one view. They are not coming from the first view in that table. I would like input on design or if it's even possible. Here's my scenario.  I have tried this a few ways through Co-Builder, but nothing that works yet.Our organization does a survey for every event/program we have.  The questions are always different.Other staff need to build forms, but they are not 'techy.'  I would like to build a system that creates their evaluation forms automatically and they would have the ability to edit easily through the interface or form builder.  I also need to be able to show the results through an interface real-time.Surveys look like this:Speaker 1 Rating (rating field)Speaker 1 Comments (long text field)Speaker 2 Rating (rating field)Speaker 2 Comments (long text field)(more speakers, not always the same number of them)Which experience was the best? Im loving MiniExtensions and Airtable. It does exactly what is needed without clunkiness. Creates a portal for users to work with and see your data.  Id looked at Softr, Noloco and others, but they get very pricey or very complex fast and need a lot of line by line field crafting. MiniExtensions is simple and does the trick.Keen to see though, with anyone else using Airtable and MiniExtensions, how are you better managing login and front end access?  Airtable creates users and magic links well, but Im hoping someone may have worked out a way to manage password or phone numbers to send the passcodes to? Users at my end are fairly simple so I need to dumb it down and keep it secure same time.

I have a table where we can record incidents occurring at school and select an incident category (e.g., stealing). Once a teacher selects an incident, they can choose the logical consequences from another table. Each incident category has a list of specific consequences. Can you explain how I can create a dropdown menu in Airtable and Airtable forms so that the values available for logical consequences are filtered to show only those related to the selected incident category?

I have a lot of personal views. I'd like to split them into sections like you can with collaborative views. I can't find an option for this. Is there a way to do this?

I have two existing bases in the same workspace on a Team plan. The new dynamic filter option appears in one of the bases as an option for new and existing linked record columns. It does not appear as an option in the other base, either on existing linked record columns or new ones. All of the linked records use text fields for the primary key. What makes dynamic filters appear as an option in one base but not another? Thank you

I am building a base to control the orders of my market. In there, I want to "Add a new order" and select the products of the order, while choosing their quantities. Is that possible? Also, I want to calculate the order value with the quantities of each product.

I am working with a new company that has five main areas I would like to manage using Airtable. These five areas operate independently but collaborate on the same projects, each contributing different inputs.Here is my question:Which is better: to have five different bases that sync (one-way) to a main base, or to have all five areas work in a shared base with individual tables and permissions?

Hi all, Can one base be the central CRM and the content editable in all other bases? For example, one central base could hold the organizations (companies, etc.) and their contacts, while the other bases could be used by different team members. The central information would be in each base and could be changed.I've created an image and each square represents a base.  

For the life of me can't figure this out...Imagine a non-human resource scheduling system (ie hotel rooms - not really, but close enough). We would like to be able to use timeline view to list all 'rooms' in the building, so that 'booking agents' can distribute incoming guests among available rooms.What we've done is create a table called 'rooms' and create a table called 'bookings', with bookings table having a timeline view, with records being grouped by 'room' on the Y axis and booking duration on X axis.The problem is that airtable timeline view only shows rooms that have bookings assigned to them. If a room has 0 bookings, it does not show us on the Y axis. How can we make it so that resources show up on the Y axis of the timeline, regardless of whether they have bookings on them? lack of this feature is the only thing holding us back from migrating from a 20 year old ERP system. the reason we can't use calendar or grid view for this i

I have a base where I have separated expenses into a few different tables. I did that to make it a little clearer for me as it became so cluttered. But now it’s hard to add up the prices and compare. How do I create a dashboard that truly just takes the sum of one column from each table that I have? For ex: I have a table for health insurance, car matinence & lease payments. How would I create a dashboard like summary where I can display the total sum of each of these? So it would look like: I tried linking, rollup and lookup but just can’t figure it out. I have used airspace for a long time, but only for simple data entry. I do not have pro.

HI GuysI was very specific in the question subject for a reason that anyone reading this will nod, say "oh, that" and cry into a coffee. Im at the final step of a looooong loop of data, and I need to now put multiple public attachments into a single attachment field in Airtable. I cant use Make for this, has to be Zapier. And i need to turn a simple array into a complex array so that the attachment field doesnt overwrite.Also, a huge thank you to @scottsworld for giving me a lot of the knowledge that got me this far without jumping off a cliffAnyone know how to do this? I have a CRM database with a table called Companies. These Companies have columns that are linked to different tables called Country and Sector. I would like to create a new table, a Market Matrix of sorts, that automatically rolls up the companies in Country A + Sector B, which would also include notes and different properties on the country/sector in question. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thank you in advance! I'm relatively new to this so any help most appreciated. 

Hi All,I'm trying to set up a resource tracker using the summarise function within the timeline view.In short, I want to be able take the days associated with a task and spread these across the length of the task. So if a task takes 20 hours and the task length is a week, then the summarise function would say 4 hours for each day and would group accordingly dependent on the scale we were looking at. I'll be grouping by individual, so want to be able to get this value summed across multiple tasks. This must be what the system is doing under the utilisation function, as it'll this to compare the available days to create the percentage, but I don't seem to be able to get it to work. When I go to summarise, and go to sum, it just shows me the total number of hours and doesn't spread the amount across the days. Crucially I don't want the percentage of available time used, I just want the number of hours themselves. Thanks in advance!

I have a table which has the entire organization list of Key results. It does identify each Business Unit. I have another table where I have a list of projects (in the same base). I want to have a field with the projects where the person entering the data can a select the key result this project is associated with but I do not want the entire list of key results to show up, only the key results from that business unit. Is that possible?   

Hello all. I'm new to Airtable and I have been charged with setting up project and task management for our team. We have a team of about 10 with multiple projects and tasks that are randomly assigned based on availability and skill level. Each project has a timeline with tasks, start and end date, status and assignee. The assignee can have multiple tasks on multiple projects at any given time. My question is, do I create one base with each project as the master table or do I create a separate base for each project and sync the tasks, assignee and status. I need to have a calendar view for each assignee with all of their upcoming task due dates and ideally an overall calendar view for the team director who can see all upcoming tasks, due dates, etc. We also want to share the status with groups outside our team for each project, so the outside team can see the status of tasks and overall project status.There is another wrinkle in that help desk tickets also create t

I used AI for one of my columns type long text. Is there a fast way to generate all rows other than clicking generate button manually?I tried to drag the bottom right of one cell down to the last row but nothing happened 

In actual databases, I can explicitly define which table holds the linked column, e.g., Table A has a foreign key field to Table B. So, if I look directly at Table B by itself, I wouldn't know that it has a relationship with Table A. But that's okay, because Table B isn't supposed to hold that information itself.But in Airtable, I noticed that when I put a linked field in Table A to Table B, instantly that field also appears in Table B. While that's very useful and helpful to understand the bigger picture of how things are interconnected, now I no longer know which table was the original one that established that relationship.The purpose that I need to know this is to transform an Airtable base into an SQL database schema, so I need to know the "native" fields of each table. Any tips, or anything I missed?
