Base Design

Hi everyone,Is there anywhere a document with conventions for naming,sorting, documenting Views/Tables/Fields/Automations in a complex Airtable project ?There are conventions in code. I haven't seen anything for nocode/Airtable yet.

I currently have an inventory base (A) that I synced to another base (B) in the same workspace. When I tried to sync the same base (A) to another base (C), I get this error message: Non-200 Response Received: 413 error. I am not sure why I am getting that, since the first sync worked fine. Could anyone help me figure out what that error means? I do have to sync the original inventory base (A) to multiple separate bases. I hope this makes sense! Thank you so much!!

I have a base with various different tables containing lists of things, people and places for a large-scale festival production. The various tables are linked in numerous ways, which works beautifully. However, I would also like to use the base for project and timeline management and I cannot seem to find a way of doing this directly. I have created a "timeline" table with a list of events with a date range. At the moment I am syncing all relevant tables I want to link to several tables in a dedicated "sync base", from which I'm syncing back to a new "sync table" in the main base, essentially summarising the various tables into one. In my timeline/events table I then link to this sync table.This works but means I lose the main advantage of linking between records in that the events allocated to each thing/person/place do not show up within that record.Is there a better way of doing this? What am I missing? The ability to sync from multiple tables within the same base w

I changed a text field to a single select field.This field has many options (maybe 100+), but I wanted to ensure that similar entries are same spelling and that when creating filters in views we can select multiple options (using "is any of") instead of making several different filter conditions (using "contains").After making the update, the primary table that holds this field allows for the filter to work properly, as attached. However on the secondary tables that hold the lookup field, I'm not seeing the filter options change. Creating a new view/filter presents as if it were still a text field, with no options for "is any" or "is none of".  

Hi! I Created a Base of all the content and contributors for 1 publication. On my Digital Stories Table, I have a field for Writers and a field for Photographers. Each of these fields is a multiple lookup field, populated with tons of names. My question is: Can I use this field to create a new table of just Writers and a new table for just Photographers so that I can use the names to then add emails + contact info, and then once that is complete, turn these fields on my Digital Stories Table into lookup fields? 

I am an artist that works with ceramics and have many repetitive tasks (each with several subtasks) that can take as little as 3 hours to complete and as long as 6 hours to dry... all dependent on the prior Task being completed on time. I created my first Gantt View. I entered both Start and End date fields with correct times for each of my tasks and I included dependencies.When I view it as a Gantt chart it claims that the records are overlapping in time (they aren't). If I try to fix dependencies it pushes every single task to take a full day which makes the project 4x longer than it should be. My only logical conclusion is that the Gantt View is somehow completely ignoring the time data from the Date field and rounding to the nearest whole Day.Surely there must be some setting I'm missing here. Prefacing this by saying I'm still a novice with Airtable.My base has tables for Tasks. The Task table has both a Grid and Gantt view. On the Gantt view I set Miletones, and then on the Grid view I linked each task with it's corresponding Milestone.I would like to provide a view that shows the percentage of completed tasks associated with a Milestone. The idea being that you would be able to see the progress towards the Milestone.I'm not sure how to do it, and I'm wondering if I built the base incorrectly. 

I have a table with possibly thousands of time entries from various personnel. Those records will be linked to hundreds of tasks.I have a Pro plan. My questions are:What is the limit on the number of records in a table or in a base? (How long can I expect to use a system like this for time tracking)What is the limit on the number of records that can be linked from one table to a record in a one-to-many relationship (e.g., thousands of time entry records over the course of years linked to a single task or project record in another table)I'd hate to go through and create a system, just to find out later that I can't link time entry records to a project that goes on for a year, or that I've done "too much of this" over the course of several project records cumulatively within one table. (if that makes sense)Thanks.

Hello! I run a weekly publication and we have a number of freelancers who get paid different amounts for stories and columns. I have an Airtable table with their names and rates.So in my payments table, I have a Single Select field which chooses the type of writing. Then I have a SWITCH formula that uses the name and type of story to access the right rate. Works perfectly.Until I give someone a raise. When that happens, all of the rates in the old issues from previous weeks get updated, too.I'm trying to figure out how to either "freeze" the numbers in old weeks ... or something. Anyone help?

Hi!I am new to airtable (love it!) and figuring it how to use it for project management.I'm stuck right now and trying to figure out one issue and am looking for advice.I have a "check list" of 25+ items that need to be completed for each build we are working on. How would I build the table to show the same items for build A, B, C, etc... so we can keep track of what is in the pipeline?Thanks!Matt

My base has two [relevant] tables - “Events”, and “Employees”. Each Event has a date/s, and a Linked Record field to choose one or more Employees to assign to an Event [and a bunch of other non-relevant data to do with the event].Each employee in the Employee's list can have only one of 5 possible statuses when linked to the Event:0 - No Response (Employee hasn’t yet responded)1 - Confirmed (they are assigned to the Event)2 - Available3 - Tentative4 - UnavailableSo my problem is how best to store this data in Airtable. Currently I have it organised so that there are 4 separate columns in the Airtable Base - labelled “Employees Confirmed”, “Employees Available”, “Employees Tentative”, “Employees Unavailable”. This necessitates me adding the employee’s name to the appropriate column and removing it from all of the others. This feels a bit finicky and not scalable (namely, via an external app which I am building), and I just feel like there

I have a base where I track my inventory, sales, and purchases. Because of the nature of the way data is uploaded to the base, I have multiple tables for different purchase sources. They are all linked to a master inventory table. What I am currently doing is using different views to see the relevant info, but this is frustrating and not really working for what I'm trying to do. The problem is that I have the sales tables relying on the inventory tables to populate data, and it's ugly. I'm trying to use rollups and other table-to-table formulas, but because the data is all in different fields it's cumbersome and requires a ton of work arounds. Is there a way I can combine all the same fields into one field at any step of the way (on one table, or from upload table to aggregate table, or aggregate to sales)??The reason I don't upload everything to one table is because each one is named so differently, with 2/4 being csv's I regularly upload and the other

Hi Community,We are using Airtable to record some of our financial data, and wondering if it is possible to lock records from being edited if the financial year has ended. So technically, on 1st April, we want to lock all records entered in a table until 31st March. So that no-one can accidentally change the records. Doable? 

I currently have 2 tables: PeopleProjectsOn Each project there are assigned multiple roles from people which are each linked columns, i.e. Role1Role2Role3Role4Role5Role6The reason I do this and not via a look up is because you can have many people working on a project but only a few will assume full responsibility. So now on the people table I am left with 6 project columns, which is fine and I can just hide these, but what I would like is for them to roll up into a single column where I can still get the functionality of a linked cell so that when I use interfaces or navigate I can still access the linked records from a single place vs 6. 

I'm working on setting up a system in airtable for generating project pricing/quotes. I would like it to have 3 tiers of organization where a project is built out of a grouping of "components" each of which is a grouping of "materials". The reason for wanting components is so that I can reuse these to build quotes faster by piecing together existing components as well as define a labor price for the assembly of a component. We have a database of thousands of products. Hundreds of them go on sale each month - and Airtable shows my designers what the % off or $ off is for each product.The challenge is that a product may have a different sale price from month to month, and we're often working on marketing for two or three different sales at the same time. Rather than creating formula fields for each sale, I'd like the designer to be able to tell Airtable which sale they're working on, and have it show the discounts for just that sale.Any ideas on how I could approach this? (The screencap isn't an actual solution - it's just one idea of what the solution might look like.)

My team is using AirTable as a CRM and a Business Development tool.We have a Projects Table, which tracks current and prospective projects in our pipeline, and a Meetings Table, which tracks our meetings with current and prospective clients in our pipeline. These two tables are linked since Meetings are typically associated with a Project, and Projects may require several Meetings throughout the course of the project. We have an Action Items table to track follow-up tasks. Action Items have a Description, an Assignee, a Status, a due Date, etc... Action Items may arise from Meetings, but they also may arise from Project/Pipeline tracking activities, so we want to be able to link Action Items to both the Meetings table and the Projects table. However, when we want to add a new Action Item inline for a row in the Projects table or the Meetings table, we always want to create a NEW Action Item. Problem:I am a tabletop game designer.I am designing a game with many "units" that consist of 15 data points each (Name, attack value, etc).I am currently using Google Sheets, but one field of the data points (Ability) is in long form with bold, italics, etc and is very hard to read/edit natively.Solution:Is there a way to use Airtable to have a data set which you can pull up via a Form that allows you to search/find any of the data sets (by 'Name' preferably) and edit the content which updates the database?

Hey everyone! I have copywriters and designers uploading content to our bases on a daily basis. It seems as though previewing Microsoft Word documents (.dox extensions) is not available with the current Box app that Airtable uses to preview attachments. Or am I missing something? Screenshots below are from our interfaces. If you have any ideas how we can get these previews to show it would be greatly appreciated!

Happy New Year,I am brainstorming how to setup a national nonprofit with several locations around the country.  The national headquarters will need 10-15 chapters to report data such as client enrollment, services, and program indicators met on a monthly bases.Option 1:  Setup a base for each chapter (Decentralized) and then create interfaces for a person at HQ to pull reports.Option 2: Setup one HQ base (Centralized) and then several tables for each chapter for data reporting.  Admins at each chapter will have update permission for their tables in the base.Option 3:  Setup HQ base and then automate process that will import excel or csv files from local chapters into HQ base for tracking/reporting.If anyone has experience in this area , I would greatly appreciate any feedback as to which process could provide the least friction.  Also if there is a better option, please feel free to make a recommendation.Thanks a mil

These is regarding components in the field that are declared not working.The Tables:Ticket table: End User tickets about stuff not workingField deployedThe tickets have 2 statuses either "Open" or "Closed". I created a view for open tickets and one for closedI created a linked field in the Field deployed table to pull the info from the ticket field with a "Limit selection to a view" to the Open ticket viewFor some reason the column populates with all linkable items disregarding the "Limit Section View"any reason for this?

I have a Table with organizations. Each org has people attached to them via a People Table. Each organization has a status. One of them can be 'Contact The Organization'. How/where do I create a View to show me all the people I should contact, for all orgs. I want a grid view with columns to display Contact details such as Name, Email, Phone plus the org name they are associated with plus a few other org columns such as Status and Country.Insights are much appreciated.
