Hi! I’m trying to see if there’s a way I can do this. I know Airtable is not a “spreadsheet” and that typically you cannot use different formulas per row/cell because of the database situation. I’m a complete newb to airtable, so I’m still learning the intricacies to see if it’s something I can use in my role. I’m putting together a checklist for a large event that has due dates- start and end dates included in the table. In my google form/excel sheet I have formulas created so that all I have to do is put in the first day of the actual event into a column, and then another column has the # of months, days or weeks out that we need to start working on that particular task for the event. I had to go in each cell to change the formula for the specific task for those that were 1+ months out vs. those that needed to be start 2 weeks out, etc. I’m using this formula in the column (the DATE and Project Start are the columns I’m having it pull data from): DATEADD(Date,-{Project Start (Months/

UPDATE: See my last post for the ultimate solution. I came up with some inadequate solutions earlier in the post, so save yourself some time if you are looking up how to generate random items from a linked field. EDIT: to make this more clear for future readers—I was trying to do this in an automation script. It worked as a script app in Airtable, though my final script below is much more performant. I make heavy use of scripting in Airtable, as well as the API, and I am pretty comfortable with using both, but this simple script is kicking my butt for some reason… it either hangs after running for 3000ms CPU time, or quits with an “unexpected error”. At one point it also threw a “syntax error”, even though there is no syntax error, and that error went away on its own without me changing anything. AFAIK there is no way to ‘select’ records with a filter in Airtable Scripts, before fetching them all, so you have to select the whole friggin’ table (even if it’s 6000 records), and then u

When a table is synced the field type of a formula is changed to long text (which makes sense). Is there also a way to change it to short text? Long Texts can’t be used in Pivot tables (but results of formulas can). Therefore I’m not able to create the same pivot table in the original and the synced table.

Hi Airtable Community, For a payroll automation base I’m developing, I need to figure out how to set a payroll date which will be 30 days after the first of the next month or the first of 2 months out, depending on net terms. For example, if someone logs time worked on 11/15/2020, and their payment terms are Net 30, the payment would be due to them by figuring out the first day of the next month, (12/1/2020), and adding 30 days which would be 12/31/2020. If someone logs time worked on 11/15/2020, and their payment terms are Net 60, the payment would be due to them by figuring out the first day of the next month, (12/1/2020), and adding 60 days which would be 1/30/2021 (or so I think). Hello everyone, I am really enjoying Airtable, but I am running into an issue using the send Gmail email action with an image attachment inside an automation. When this email with image attachment is send, the image doesn’t show up as attachment, but a weird file-type does: These images in my base are just simple jpegs from around 350kb. When using the ‘Airtable send email’ action the attachments work fine, but I need to use gmail. Any help is super appreciated!

Hello All, As someone who knows nothing about JavaScript, I am trying to write a script that creates a one-to-many link between two tables. I found some code elsewhere on the forum and have modified it slightly. I have a “Facilities” table that lists out each facility from which we will be collecting data. I also have a “Results” table that has the results from all data collection at every facility. (This table is quite large and new records are added everyday.) The common link between these two tables is the Facility ID. I would like each Facility to have all their results linked (one-to-many relationship) in the “Facilities” table. Currently, I am able to run the following code and return a one-to-one link. I’m assuming that the output gets rewritten each times it goes through the FOR loop, resulting in only one output. Hi, I have searched around for someone with a similar problem but can’t find exactly my issue, perhaps someone can help. For work projects, we have an Airtable base to track the status and components of our collections (think fashion collection). Now, I want to track how long each collection dwells in each ‘status’ without having to input that information manually. We have a big team working together and each person will likely not remember every time to log how long they were working on their part of the project. We have a status table with a single select field with options like ‘design’, ‘marketing’, ‘graphics’, etc. I have a last modified field that tells us the last time the status field was changed. Is it possible to update the lookup filed on a linked table via the API? I have a projects table. An a people table. O the projects table I have a lookup field that grabs the first name from the people table. Using the API, would I be able to change the name by simply updating the lookup field on the projects table? Thank you!

Hello! I am trying to use Zapier, to take information gathered from an AirTable form to create an outbound text message. I have everything working except for the use of the date / time in the outbound text due to the Airtable format of date time (2020-12-17T06:00:00.00). Is there a way to change the outbound formatting of the date time to something more legible? Thanks in advance, Jackson

I’ve noticed that when using .loadCSSFromString() the frontend renders multiple duplicates of the same <style>/<style> element in the DOM body. Is there a way around this that I’m missing? In the example below, .loadCSSFromString() is placed at top-level and not within a loop.

Got a newbie question for you. I’ve got 2 tables linked together: Viewers and Movies, through a field on Movies table called, “Fans”. I’m trying to look up the viewer of a movie and change their status to “Favorite” if it is currently “Watched”. let viewer = record.getCellValue("Viewers"); if {name: viewer[0].getCellValueAsString('Status')} == "Watched" { updateRecordAsync(writer[0], { 'Status': {name: 'Favorite'}; }) } The error gives me an unexpected token ‘{’, which I suspect isn’t the real problem. Hey yo I have a simple use case, I have an airtable form receiving submissions. I can see the submissions in grid view in the same table. But now I want to make changes to those submissions without changing the original submissions. How do I do that? What I tried, Creating sync table in the same base, but that doesn’t seem to be an option. Help appreciated.

Hello! This is my first time on the forum and I’m excited to leverage everyone’s knowledge. Our product is in dire need of being able to list the “Top 10” of certain group values, essentially leveraging the Autonumber feature in different views. The best way to explain my question is with an example right!! In this image, I see that Airtable auto numbers the names(Pink), but I cannot figure out how to get that number in an actual field (RED), as this is filtered and sorted by the performance (Orange Arrows). Any and all help on this would fully allow us to move our entire product onto Airtable and to finally get us off Sheets. Thank you!

This feels really basic, but I don’t know what I am missing and new at the formula editing. The issue I am having. I am working off one date (Purchase Contract date) and trying to add a number of days (Home Inspection Contingency) to the contract date, to find (Home Inspection Due) due date. It is working for all number of day options eg: 5 days, 7, 14 etc, except when NONE is selected or when the selection is left blank. In either of these cases it still populates the date as a purchase contract date. Ideally in Home Inspection Due it would populate NONE. Is this possible? My formula is: DATEADD({Purchase Contract Date}, {Home Inspection Contingency},‘days’) below. #1 and #2 are wrong, #3 is correct

I’m new to Airtable (and databases generally) so I apologize that I can’t articulate my problem better than this. But here goes: Through Zapier, every day I send an Airtable form to my clients. When they complete the form, a new record appears in the base. So far so good. Ideally, they would complete the form every day of the week so there would be one record per client per day. But they sometimes forget… Is there a way to automatically create a blank record (with null values) for the days when they forget to complete the form? I need to track these no-response days and don’t want to create the records with null values manually. I’ll be (extremely) grateful for any help. -Jason

I currently have a formula that calculates the cost of a child attending a class over a number of weeks. Extrachildren*({Weeks FM}+{WeeksSR})*5 This works well until I was told if they book for 11 weeks then the 11th week is free (they never book for more than 11). So I need the formula to multiply by 10 if 11 weeks are booked. Can somebody please tell me how that should be expressed in the formula. Thanks in advance Phil

Hello – I have two tables and have an automation running from conditions met on the first table to create new records on another table. I have several automations running between these tables with no issues for some reason, one of them keeps creating two extra records. I’ve even tried deleting it and recreating it. Any ideas? You can see here that it is only meant to create 5 records but it’s creating 7.

Sorry in advance - I am a very green user to Airtable and Databases in general. I would like to make a formula that can scan a record for a word and then automatically make the value 0. Example: Line Item ------------Unit ----------- Rate---------Total Cost Invoice - 0011-------1.00------------$100----------$100 Bid - 0100------------2.00------------$500----------$0 In this case I am using: Rate*Unit to reach the total cost. This will mean that the “Line Item” Bid-0100 will pop up with a total cost of $500, but I need it to show 0 as it hasn’t actually cost me anything. Is this possible?

So I wanted to get the API key so I could integrate some zaps, navigated to the API ‘mode’ of the desktop app and now its stuck there. There’s a big blue button that says “Open Base” that does nothing when I click it. I’ve uninstalled the app and redownloaded the latest version, and every time I open it its still stuck. Help!
