Good afternoon folks. I have PRO account with several bases our department collaborates with. I have one base in particular that my boss and I have access to, me as Owner, him as editor. One field is a single select, and he is not able to add new values to the choices by typing into the field. I have gone so far as to select specific users to allow editing to the field, I’ve made it so editor and higher have rights to enter data… no matter how he tries, he can’t add a new value. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a database of clients who need to pass an annual certification exam. I have a Client table, that is linked to a Certification table, with multiple Certification rows for each attempt at the exam, with a unique date & result for each row. For each Client on the Client Table, I’d like to select the row On the Certification Table with the most current Test Date, so I can easily see their current Certification status. The Client table key is Client Name and the Certification table Key is Client Name + Testing Date. I can change these if needed. An example of the Certification Table below. On my Client Table, I’m creating a view with lookups to several other Tables in my base to get a complete view of Clients Status. When finding info on the Certification Table, I’d like to select the row that matches each Client on the Client table, with the most current date on the Certification Table, so I can easily see their current Certification status. Noob, sorry in advance. (also used to excel which I’m sure makes it even worse) I created a column that takes a uniform date column (start date) and count column. Then a third column that has the following formula - DATETIME_FORMAT(DATEADD({Start Date},Count-1,‘DAYS’),‘MM/DD/YYYY’). It works well. BUT (there’s always a but) I’m not able to format it as a date, preventing me form being able to but it in a calendar. My question is: is this antiquated thinking? Did I do something backwards? Or is it a limitation of Airtable that likely is saving me from a bigger problem? And, would anyone have a fix or better solution than the one I laid out? I use sorting and filtering a lot but am not too happy with it. It feels quite manual. I use vim and keyboard shortcuts often so anything to do with the mouse annoys me. I feel like airtable would be amazing if it had some sort of launch controller to do many popular tasks, like sorting and filtering. I have Total pay (Currency) earned in one column and duration field in another. How do I calculate my hourly rate per record? I have only seen how to calculate total pay if you already know the hourly but in this case, I already have the duration and total payout but just need to find out what that means per hour.

Hi! I have a table called “Initiatives” - each “Initiative” has a multi-select for 50 states. I would like to generate a new row in a table called “Tasks” for each state selected for an Initiative. Example: INITIATIVES TABLE Row 1: Initiative A | NY, NJ, PA TASKS TABLE Row 1: Initiative A - NY Row 2: Initiative B - NJ Row 3: Initiative C - PA Is this possible? I’ve tried using Automations but unfortunately I need to be able to do this for up to 50 states, and the limit of 25 Automations prevents that. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am using a single select column with options as predefined numbers, 1 to 6 - representing hours (time sessions). I would then like to multiply the selected option with X (day rate) and output the result in a currency column (total cost). I can’t get it to work. Is it possible? I would like to use a single select instead of a number field to input hours.

My records are created from automation, representing tasks that were started. I have a created date field that represents the start date of the task. I also have a single-select field that staff use to mark a task completed, among other statuses. I want to be able to know when the status has been marked completed and show that date as a record field so I can then compare and check if tasks are completed the same day they were started, and if not, how long they took to complete. I’m not even sure this can be done or if there are other ways to get to what I want but I appreciate any advice! Thank you!

I’m developing a real estate website focused on condo buildings in the Washington, DC metro area. I’m housing the data in AirTable and via Zapier, it will create/update pages in WordPress. Two of the tables I have are for [condo] Buildings and Metro [stations]. The Metro is the subway system in Washington, DC. There are roughly 2500 condo Buildings and 100 different Metro stations. A Building will be near zero or several Metro stations. In the Building table, there are 3 fields that contain the names of Metro stations that are: Field 1 - within a 1/4 mile Field 2 - between 1/4 to 1/2 mile Field 3 - between 1/2 to 1 mile Each of the fields can have 0 to several Metro station names. Hello. I need to send, once every month, the attachment (it’s always a pdf) in a particular cell from all the records that appear in a particular view. I can’t seem to Integromat to find and send the Attachment file… Any help?

I run an acting school- and have a google drive folder full of about 1500 scripts. I’ve created an index of those files with links to them (in a google extension), then imported that list into airtable. We then went through and painstakingly added searchable info and a clickable button for each entry. So now we have a sharable view that students can search by age, gender, genre, etc. But we continually have new scripts coming in…and I’d love to skip the step of manually indexing the new scripts and pasting that into the airtable. Using a form is too tedious for each individual script we get in (cause it’s a lot) Is there a way to connect an airtable to Google Drive so that it automatically dynamically INDEXES a google drive folder (with LINKS to each individual file). That way when we get new script we could just drop them in the google folder (and add searchable data down the road into the proper airtable row) OR- is there an easy way to batch import FILES into an airtable (so that ea

I’m new to AirTable, but have been a FileMaker developer for many years, and I’m trying to figure out the AirTable way of doing things. I wrote a simple time tracking application and I would like to create invoice line items from each of the time slips. If I’m creating an invoice for a client, I want to find all of the time slips that haven’t been invoiced previously and create an invoice line item for each one of them. I realize that I could use the time slips table itself, but I might want to combine some, change descriptions or otherwise alter them and I want the invoice to be independent and “locked” after they are sent. I know how I would do this in FileMaker, but what is the best way to do this in AirTable. You can assume that each invoice line item would be filled with the Date Created, Customer, Product, Description and Time Worked.

I added a timer app to a table. Is there a way to attach it to a button in a grid view record to directly start the timer, instead of opening the app area, running the app and selecting the record? Thanks.

Dear fellow airtable wizards, Today my quest has put me up to a challenge I hope you guys can help me with. Short backstory: We offer courses which people can subscribe to (their record enters the base using forms) The first course starts the 3rd of January. Whenever they register we send them an email (using automations). In this email we confirm that the first course is on the 3rd of January. I came up with the following formula: IF(IS_BEFORE({Created time},{Start date}), DATETIME_FORMAT({Start date},‘DD MMMM’)) Now comes the tricky part… If a person registers a day after the 3rd of January, I want my formula to let them know their first course starts a week later (the 10th of January). If they register after the 10th, they start on the 17th… and so on. I’m looking for a formula that knows how far apart the {Created time} and the {Start date} is, so it can add 7 (or 14 or 21…etc.) days to the {Start date}. Hi! I’m trying to see if there’s a way I can do this. I know Airtable is not a “spreadsheet” and that typically you cannot use different formulas per row/cell because of the database situation. I’m a complete newb to airtable, so I’m still learning the intricacies to see if it’s something I can use in my role. I’m putting together a checklist for a large event that has due dates- start and end dates included in the table. In my google form/excel sheet I have formulas created so that all I have to do is put in the first day of the actual event into a column, and then another column has the # of months, days or weeks out that we need to start working on that particular task for the event. I had to go in each cell to change the formula for the specific task for those that were 1+ months out vs. those that needed to be start 2 weeks out, etc. I’m using this formula in the column (the DATE and Project Start are the columns I’m having it pull data from): DATEADD(Date,-{Project Start (Months/

I came up with some inadequate solutions earlier in the post, so save yourself some time if you are looking up how to generate random items from a linked field. EDIT: to make this more clear for future readers—I was trying to do this in an automation script. It worked as a script app in Airtable, though my final script below is much more performant. I make heavy use of scripting in Airtable, as well as the API, and I am pretty comfortable with using both, but this simple script is kicking my butt for some reason… it either hangs after running for 3000ms CPU time, or quits with an “unexpected error”. At one point it also threw a “syntax error”, even though there is no syntax error, and that error went away on its own without me changing anything. AFAIK there is no way to ‘select’ records with a filter in Airtable Scripts, before fetching them all, so you have to select the whole friggin’ table (even if it’s 6000 records), and then u

When a table is synced the field type of a formula is changed to long text (which makes sense). Is there also a way to change it to short text? Long Texts can’t be used in Pivot tables (but results of formulas can). Therefore I’m not able to create the same pivot table in the original and the synced table.

Hi Airtable Community, For a payroll automation base I’m developing, I need to figure out how to set a payroll date which will be 30 days after the first of the next month or the first of 2 months out, depending on net terms. For example, if someone logs time worked on 11/15/2020, and their payment terms are Net 30, the payment would be due to them by figuring out the first day of the next month, (12/1/2020), and adding 30 days which would be 12/31/2020. If someone logs time worked on 11/15/2020, and their payment terms are Net 60, the payment would be due to them by figuring out the first day of the next month, (12/1/2020), and adding 60 days which would be 1/30/2021 (or so I think). I’m trying to automate this calculation if possible. I’ve set up multiple calculation fields to take the number of the month, add 1, adjust if it’s past December. When this email with image attachment is send, the image doesn’t show up as attachment, but a weird file-type does: These images in my base are just simple jpegs from around 350kb. Hello All, As someone who knows nothing about JavaScript, I am trying to write a script that creates a one-to-many link between two tables. I found some code elsewhere on the forum and have modified it slightly. I have a “Facilities” table that lists out each facility from which we will be collecting data. I also have a “Results” table that has the results from all data collection at every facility. (This table is quite large and new records are added everyday.) The common link between these two tables is the Facility ID. I would like each Facility to have all their results linked (one-to-many relationship) in the “Facilities” table. Currently, I am able to run the following code and return a one-to-one link. I’m assuming that the output gets rewritten each times it goes through the FOR loop, resulting in only one output.
