Hello all, I'm looking for some help with a dynamic date filtering challenge in automations.I have a Social Media Metrics table where each record needs to link to all previous records for the same Contact/Platform combination, but only where Date Recorded is before the current record's date. The challenge: Airtable's Find Records action in automations doesn't support dynamic date comparisons (e.g., "Date Recorded < trigger record's Date Recorded"). This means I can't filter to only link previous records—it would link to all records including future ones.I've considered:Manual linking (works but not scalable) MIN/MAX rollup pattern with formula logic (works but still requires the linking step first) External tools like Make.com or scripting (viable but checking if there's a native solution first)Has anyone solved this elegantly within Airtable? Any creative workarounds I'm missing? Thanks in advance!
I was having a problem to share record view for just one record in my airtable. Then I just shared all recordview to my external users. Now because they are opening my shareable view from mobile apps they can not see the right side of the recordview. How can I solve my problem ? I am open to any suggestions. Recrod View is not necessary but I just need to be able to share my record to external users to fill some places in my record (Not creating record, updateing record)
Hi everyone, I have a question about automations and what the best practices are when dealing with external API calls. We have an automation that enriches records by pulling data from Google Maps. Every time a new record is added to the table, a second automation is triggered: it uses an enrichment API to find an email address from the website, verify it, and then update the record. The issue is that this enrichment step takes a few seconds for each record. Because Airtable runs automations one-by-one and queues them, this causes huge backlogs of pending automations, which slows everything down and sometimes causes the system to get stuck or bug out.My question is:What’s the recommended best practice to avoid infinite queues or stuck automations when using external APIs that take a few seconds to respond?Should we batch records? Or is there a better architectural approach?Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hey all - I need your helpBasically - am trying to create an expense reimbursement form that will then create an automated email to trigger approval/payment.I have created a form in Fillout that has a form and a sub-form. Users can use the sub-form to input 1 or more items to their submission. Once filled out and submitted it gets ported over to Airtable. (all good - this works)What I originally wanted to do was to have it take all the records that are created in Airtable from Fillout consolidate into a different table with a roll-up field to get the total payment needed. (for example, if you have 3 items for reimbursement, fillout creates 4 records in Airtable - 1 for each item and 1 for the overall form info). However, I had to create a workaround because the info for each item for reimbursement was being ported over to Airtable from Fillout immediately upon creation. The workaround I created was to add a trigger at a time (like every hour) that will consolidate all the items into th
Hello all,I’d like to configure my Airtable so that when the category for a record is labeled ‘Uncategorized’ it automatically triggers a certain ‘Status’ label. I’ve been following this tutorial: https://support.airtable.com/docs/repeating-groups-of-automation-actionsBut I get stuck when I reach the last step for the action as I’m not sure what to put in ‘record ID.’ Every time I run it, it updates the same record, but I want it to search for all records that have been labeled ‘Uncategorized’ and update their status. How do I do this? Thank you!
I have over 30 Google Forms to Airtable automations setup which have been running very smoothly until this week when suddenly none of them are running anymore. I’ve tried resetting the connection but none of them want to trigger when a new form is completed. They only seem to work when I “run as configured” but that’s not really automated.
Hi all, We use Airtable for project management and one challenge we often have is searching for something via a keyword or name--something that would help us find a project without knowing the exact title of the record. Is there any sort of add-on that would help with this? Or is there something we can do to make fields show up in search results? Thanks.
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding Map View in Airtable. We have one table with all the businesses we work with, and another table with all our points of interest. What we’d really like is a single Map View where both datasets appear together, each in a different color (for example: businesses in one color, POIs in another).Right now, Map View only accepts data from one table. To work around this, we had to create a combined table that contains both businesses and points of interest, with a “Category” field that marks each record so they appear in different colors. This works, but it’s messy and difficult to maintain. My main questions are: Is there any way to use another mapping solution inside Airtable Interfaces, something faster or more flexible than the current Map View? Is it possible for Map View to show records from two different tables, or is merging everything into a single table the only option? Any recommendations or best practices would be greatly appreciat
Now that Airtable has deprecated static URLs for image attachments (or at least will some time in March or whatever), server side generated apps that use Airtable as a CMS backend can't use Airtable for image hosting anymore. Instead, combination solutions such as hosting images on aws s3 and putting image URLs in Airtable is necessary. This is because the URL provided by Airtable for an image attachment "expires" after a few hours, and a sever side generated app is "hardcoded" with the expired URL.I have a client that's not interested in two part solutions like this, and wants their CMS backend in one place. Is there a paid feature to switch back on static image attachment URLs permanently? This was a really easy, user-friendly way (especially for non devs) to have a CMS backend. If not, I'll need to investigate another CMS backend solution for my client.
As of today, our airtable automations that react to action triggers of certain fields in not really large tables are incredibly slow and sometimes freeze, so we have to disable and re-enable the automation. In addition, navigation in the backend is tedious and slow. Our tables have a very manageable size, the largest tables have around 1500 rows.Since we also use Softr as a UI, we also notice very poor performance here. What can we do?Edit: To make the severity a little bit clearer: Action Trigger was set at 2:54 pm and the automation was finished on 3:49pm! It simple copies a row from Table A to Table B!
Hi Airtable team,I’m writing because I noticed a recent change in the way linked-record fields behave inside Interfaces, specifically in grid/table components.Until this week, it was possible to enter data extremely efficiently by simply clicking on the empty row and typing the first letters of a linked record. The matching record would appear instantly, without having to open the dropdown first. This made data entry much faster, especially when pasting or entering multiple records in a row.Since the latest update, it is no longer possible to type directly into the cell to trigger autocomplete. We now must click to open the dropdown and then manually search inside it. This significantly slows down workflows for users who rely on Interfaces for rapid data entry. For many of us who use Interfaces as our primary workspace — especially those handling large volumes of records daily — this change has a major negative impact on productivity.Could you please consider restoring the previous inli
New to airtable. I’m looking to have Airtable create a record when someone submits a Google Form. See image below. Action Type > Google form/create response Connect Google Account + Select Google Form Spreadsheet: select spreadsheet. Worksheet: select worksheet Help: 5) Row data… I select the relevant rows from the spreadsheet, but then within each of the “Columns” I don’t see any data to pull on. Confused as to what I need to do next.
Hi All, I am looking for some guidance on how to structure my Airtable (whether on a single base or multiple) best program management. Currently, I am managing 6+ programs with multiple projects within them which I will breakdown for understanding Before I outline the structure of the programs - the key goals I'm hoping to achieve are the following: Primary goalsCentralised source of truth for all programsDashboards to show the progress of current programs (likely based on milestones)Show all tasks outstanding for each stakeholderCritical paths with date dependencies. Secondary goalsTrack capacity of key stakeholders across all programsLink records to external bases e.g. Procurement, Lab testing, Supplier sourcing(Use case: people submit form requests on these bases which turns into a request - would love automation to trigger this from PM bases or at least link the line item on the PM base with the new request item. Mainly to see status changes etc)Budget tra
I have a few solutions on another platform that allow free users to vote on records. Is this possible in Airtable? I’m willing to pay for myself and my team, but asking people who will only use the solutions once or twice a year to vote is a non-starter.
Hello! I am trying to create a PDF-generating script using Scripting extension. When I run a script, I get an error message, "Can't set cell values: Field 'XXXX' is computed and cannot be set." Any idea how I can fix it?
Hi- I’m trying to use Airtable to automatically fill fields in a document based on the Airtable fields. I found the perfect app that does just this, however there are NO videos from others or discussion on this. I’ve been testing this app, and it works great! Except for a date field. It seems there is a bug in the app as no matter what, if I make the Date field a text field, a single select, a linked, no matter what it just won’t pick it up. I did email the developer but wondering if anyone else has had luck with this. I do not prefer to use Zapier or a 3rd party app. I do see the option for an automation but struggling with that as well. So far this seems to be the best option if only I could figure out this date issue. The app is Word Document Auto-Fill and the developer’s site is linked to the AT site. https://airtable.com/marketplace/blkxzMlA4V5bcZh2w/word-document-auto-fill
CONTEXT: I am a Film and TV Producer (on a Pro (Legacy Team) account) with PEOPLE, COMPANIES and INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY bases that I sync (i.e. “push out”) as relevant to seed specific FREE client/project bases so a handful of (<5) different team members (respectively) can update content specific to their projects.EXAMPLE: I maintain box office data on movies, track streaming, broadcast and cable series ratings, statuses and talent (ShowRunners, Actors, Writers, Directors, etc.), actors’ bankability stats, everyone’s credits linked to their IP, who’s moved company-to-company in the relentless musical chairs and vertically integrated morphing and consolidating - it’s A LOT to track! LOL! :-)If I’ve done the deep dive of complicated music licensing research on a specific song - or have an actor’s whole suite of (also constantly evolving) reps’ contact info, I don’t want to have to keep manually updating that across a ton of different project bases. I USED to have this all syncing perfe
In Airtable, the default color assignments for status fields need to be customized. The desired configuration is as follows: On Track → Green, At Risk → Red, Off Track → Light Red, and Resolved → Blue. These color mappings should also be consistently applied to all related charts and graphs.
We are a nonprofit that does contracted training, and I have set up a base to track the workflow from initial inquiry to completed training (with # of participants, etc.). Still struggling to get usage, but hopefully with some recent tweaks to interfaces, that will improve. I’m adding some automations to speed up the process and get more consistency- i.e. having a proposal auto-generate from the data entered, and then when final to have it auto-generate a contract. I’m using Fillout.com to gather the official info (oftentimes the contracting entity and signer are different than the person we’re working with directly), and then plan to use Docsautomator.io to generate the contract. My question is… from a “safety” standpoint, i.e. not losing essential data, do you see any difference between saving the contracts in a Google drive and using a URL field to store the link, or using an attachment field type and “inserting” the document? I do have On2Air backups set up. We are a tiny organiz
Hi everyoneI'm wanting to share my Base with a new employee who's role is head of marketing.I dont want them to be able to see financials etc so only want them limited to tables relating to their role. Currently we have all our tables relating to our business in one Base.Ideally they would be able to edit the AT base backend as some things are easier that way than setting up interfaces (e.g. uploading bulk new leads) and also they can set the base up how it works for them doing their role.Is it best to create a new Base and sync it or a seperate base without 2way sync?I'm currently on the Team plan that is level down from Business plan that allows two way sync. @ScottWorld @TheTimeSavingCo @Mike_AutomaticN @MloganAirtable Appreciate any ideas from you guys! 🙏
Create a Year View in Airtable’s calendar. I do not care that others have suggested the same. I do not care what the responses have been. I will continue to create discussions to request the feature until you do. Do not reply, it won’t be read.
Curious to know if this is happening to anyone else? My invoice just skyrocketed because of AirTable switching my portal editors to editors without my doing. Very frustrated.
Hi folks,I run a desk at an early-stage VC fund that helps our portfolio companies raise growth-stage rounds (we can’t invest at that stage ourselves). Think of it like an in-house investment bank, where we build relationships with such investors & pitch relevant companies to them.To enable this, I manage an investor CRM entirely on Airtable. At high level, it tracks: Funds: Background, stage/sector preferences, cheque sizes, ability to price rounds Fund partners: Designation, email, LinkedIn, location Interactions: My meetings with investors + detailed minutes Introductions: Which funds we intro’d to which companies + post-intro feedback The Interactions table contains rich meeting minutes where investors share views on many of our companies. It’s extremely valuable but subjective, so impossible to query in a structured way. What I want: An internal “ChatGPT-over-Airtable” that can pull the right Interaction records and analyse the meeting notes to answer questions like: “Giv
Hello Airtable users,Did I miss something? Up until now, the button that allowed deleting a record was located in the dropdown menu. However, it doesn’t seem to work there anymore. It only triggers if I remove it from the dropdown and place it directly on the main page.
