Base Design

I will not go into full detail because it is exhausting, but I have run into a situation where data written into my base occasionally has a trailing space character, which caused confusion and havoc between airtable and softr over the past 4+ weeks.The extra [space] character is really just typo. But to the naked eye, it cannot even be seen. How can I prevent any trailing [space] characters being written in the future?? Is there a native trim function?

Dear community,I am currently using several Teams licenses within my organization, and we are considering transitioning to Business licenses to take advantage of the additional features they offer.One of my main concerns is related to workspace management. I understand that Business licenses allow the use of multiple workspaces. If I decide to migrate certain bases from our current workspace (under Teams licenses) to a new one under Business, will I lose the existing connections those bases have with other parts of our system?Additionally, I would appreciate clarification on the following points:Will the URLs of the interfaces linked to those bases change after migration? Will the URLs of the forms also change? Hello Community,I’m fairly new to Airtable and relational databases at that, but would like to create an application that helps me distribute allocations to my top accounts for my wine import and distribution business. We receive certain highly sought after wines in small quantity and need to distribute them to top accounts. Most of the time, accounts take the full allocation, but other times they just accept a portion of the offer or none at all. My post here is looking for guidance from experienced designers on the overall base structure and how I should develop and connect things. I’m setting up a base that is hopefully going to help me organize my finances with my boyfriend. We have a joint bank account, and I need to be able to show how much money is going in and going out. It seems like he is not leaving enough money to pay for his bills. So, I’m wondering if I can calculate who owes what in the account. Like … I import the CSV of the bank account, then create a table for people (which would be just two), then add up the balances of all the expenses that are the responsibility of that person … What about stuff that is both our responsibility … would I create another person and then divide that into two … I’m so confused. :crazy_face: :frowning_with_open_mouth:

So I have a few tables I am trying to figure out the best way to join them in order to create an interface that will display data from multiple tables. For example. I have a table Fund (which has contact information), a table budget (which has budget information for each of the funds.  There is a line item in budget that has each years fund budget. The common thread is there is a dept number for the fund in the fund table and a corresponding dept number in the budgets table.  I am trying to figure out the best way to report on each fund and their budget.  Particularly, their current budget (there is a field in the budget for each budget year), so in a nutshell, I want to see all the information from the fund table and the corresponding current budget for that fund from the budgets table.Its so simple to do this in excel or access but I cannot figure out how to link two tables to display the information in airtable.Any helps is appreciated.

Dear Airtable Community,I would like to know how to transfer a base in my personal Airtable account to a base in another account i.e. a start up’s account.They haven't yet set up the company account in Airtable but will do once we know how this can be achieved smoothly. Also to be considered are that the base in my personal Airtable Account,  has automations native to Airtable, connection to Fillout and automations in Make that are triggered by a Webhook via a script in my Airtable automations. Is there a way to move this ‘lock stock and barrel’, out of my account and into that of the start up?Thank you in advance for your support.Best RegardsLadi 

I have a schema, which I would like to implement for 3 similar businesses.  Is it possible to have the same base template, and have the schema synchronised between ALL 3 bases?  That is, if for example I add a new table, it is also added on the other bases. Same for fields.I would like to segregate the data, and also they do not need to share the data, hence it doesnt make sense to hit the 125k record for Business for example when they are not related data, just related schema.

Hi !Our company is working with Airtable for almost a year now, and I believe it can provide everything we need from a CRM / Dashboarding tool. But as our company grows, our Airtable base also is…  and we’re at the point of needing to evaluate the database structure because I believe it will become a bit of a mess when we grow and continue this way...  So I would like to reorganize the database and also build a lot of interfaces on top of that, so I don’t want to break up the database structure afterwards… 😉 So before changing it all, I’m looking for some advise and best practices on how to design a structured Airtable base which can grow and develop along with our company. More specific: right now I’m looking for some guidelines to when to separate or combine a grid to keep data in a structured way and maintaining flexible as our organization grows and our processes and needs change along. I appreciate some general guid

Phase 1 (Pilot): 16 businesses entering data via Airtable forms Phase 2: Expand to 60 businesses Phase 3 (Scale): 600+ businesses Goal: Aggregate all submissions into a single dataset for analysis and benchmarking.My core questions: Can Airtable handle this scale of data collection and access control? If so, what architecture would you recommend? One base where businesses submit via forms, with Interfaces restricting visibility to only their data? I have 3 tables:Table 1: Work productivity data from our delivery management system. This has the employee’s email and date of shift.Table 2: Employee Data from our HR system. This has the employee’s email address and employee ID.Table 3: Shift data from our clock in/clock out system. This includes the employee ID, hours worked, and date of shift. There is a way to link all three as they share sufficient fields. I would like to match the productivity data for a specific employee on a specific date to the hours work within Table 1. So I have hours worked in there.For example, I’d like in Table 1:Bryan - bryan@hotmac.com - employee ID: 113495 - 34 tasks - 4.73 hours worked. I can link each table, but I’m stuck on how to match the shifts on the correct date between Table 1 and Table 3. Any help is really welcomed. So, we have calendars imbedded in our website and have color-coded different activities to make it easier for the parents to look for certain things.  This is the grid view.And this is the embedded calendar.  But the colors aren’t translating.  Everything on the calendar is the same color unless you open the activity up.

I created a database but not the way it is suppose to be, so now I created one with the same fields but it is relational now as i did not know how to build one. So, now I need to move all the data into the new one. Can someone tell me how, i saw something about syncing but I cant find a way to do it. thanksRose

Hello,Our team has built out a form for users to sign up for training from a few categories. We do this by using separate fields with different rules to pull data by the training’s specific name. All of the trainings feed in from a Google Calendar, and the form feeds in from a grid of those calendar events.The form works great when used normally! However, we had a user experience frustration when these fields would not allow them to select multiple trainings. We discovered that in incognito mode (only tried in Chrome so far), users could select 1 training per category, but when selecting multiple would recieve a “Cannot see this data” error.Interestingly, users can select the same named training (differing dates) with no issue. As soon as they choose a training with a separtate name, they recieve the same error.

Hello, setting up airtable for the first time.  We are a nonprofit looking to track our funds that support our grants.Currently we are using multiple worksheets in excel.I am trying to figure out where to start. I have imported the Fund names and Contact information(Funds).  The next tabs we have are for our investment returns and fees which contains our fund name, contributions, admin fees, investment returns, disbursement amounts and ending balance. We have a worksheet for each year.The common link is the fund name in Funds.  Should I create a table for each year and link it to the funds table by the fund name?  What would be the best way to view the Funds table and see the budget information for each year.Hoping this makes sense, any helps is appreciated.   

I am using the new form builder and want to filter the values of a dropdown field, Product, based on the value of another field, Designer, on the same form.Although I found the "filter records by a condition" option, I cannot see a way to use the Designer field's value as the condition for the filter. Any help appreciated.

I have 3 tables: A, B and C that are linked A→ B → C.  All child records are one (parent) to many (child).  Is there a way to have A pull in unique C records?  I can pull in a list of C records into A by using a lookup field.  However, this pulls in duplicate C records.  If I use a rollup field in A with an Arrayunique formula, it converts all of the C records to text values.  

Hello,I’m updating a form we use to provide training for our users and would like to create a more user-friendly design. Is there a way to customize Airtable forms so that users can choose between a “list view” and a “calendar view” when signing up? Below is a screenshot of our current forms list view.If that is possible, as a follow-up, is there a way to add a trigger question within the form that determines which view (list or calendar) is displayed based on the user’s selection? 

Beginner here, first post - certainly not the last.  What I am needing seems like it should be simple, but the solution is evading me.What I'm looking to implement is a way to find the total number of rows (volunteers) from table A and write that into table B once a week so I can track the total number of volunteers over time.I have linked both tables but no matter what field I try to run the COUNTALL on, the result always seems to come back a 1.  Ideally, I'd like to use an automation so that this total is pushed to the history table once per week.  Sure could use some help here.TIA,Dan
