I came up with the following formula. IF({Registration date}=BLANK(), ‘’, SWITCH({PLAN}, ‘A’, SWITCH({TYPE}, ‘1’,DATEADD({Registration date},30, “days”), ‘2’,DATEADD({Registration date},30, “days”), ‘3’,DATEADD({Registration date},30, “days”) ), ‘B’, SWITCH({TYPE}, ‘2’,DATEADD({Registration date},30, “days”)), ‘3’,DATEADD({Registration date},30, “days”), ‘5’,DATEADD({Registration date},30, “days”) ) ) ) Depending on the PLAN and TYPE, we want to return the value of {Registration date} plus the number of days. And if {Registration date} is blank, I want the value of the formula to be blank as well (to avoid #ERROR). However, the returned value is not recognized as a date and is displayed as follows 2021-12-17t00:00:0.000z If I remove the IF statement at the beginning, it is recognized as a date format. Is there any way to resolve this?

Hi Currently, I have 3-columns Due date (date field) Overdue (formula) IF(IS_BEFORE({Due Date},TODAY()),“ :rotating_light: OVERDUE :rotating_light: ”,"") Due Now (formula) IF(IS_SAME({Due Date},TODAY()),“ :gift: NOW :gift: ”,"") I would love to see both results/formulas in the OVERDUE column. Then it is not necessary for both columns. That said, I am not finding the right way of merging these two formulas in one field/column. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you

Hello! I’m trying to find a way to link 1 table to multiple rows in another table within the same base. For example – The first table in the base lists all of our customers (one per row). Another table in the base includes all of the action items that should be done for each customer (they are all the same). Is there a way to link the action items table to each customer, and further, allow for items to be checked off as they are done for each individual customer, without impacting those of another customer? Hi all, I have a requirement for a form to allow a user to input (draw) via touch/pen. This doesn’t have to be a legally binding e-signature so I’m hoping to avoid complex 3rd party integrations. Is there a canvas widget/app that allows a field to capture touch drawing as an image/svg etc? Microsoft Power Apps has a built in “pen input” control - I’m hoping there’s something similar. Hi all, I have a table where I want to have a “Cleared?” formula box that looks up if the current record also exists in a view, “Outstanding items” In plain language, if an employee in “Pre-service” view also exists in the “Outstanding Items” view, place an :x: . Otherwise, if they don’t exist in the Outstanding Items view, place a :white_check_mark: I am thinking the RECORD_ID() formula might work (catching an exception) but I can’t quite wrap my head around how to use it with a specific view.

Hello! I have two tables: “Projects” and “Tasks”. I’m wanting to create an automation to do the following: Trigger: When a record is created in “Projects” table Action: Create value {Record Name} in X field in “Tasks” table Basically, the name of the record in the project table should update a field in the Tasks table. I would like the automation to create a new field value within a dropdown field and the value name should be taken from the trigger record name (i.e. the project name). From what I could see, the only way to achieve this is to have the action be to update a field within an existing record, so I created a dummy record. This is what I’ve created: When I run the test, it shows the field in the dummy record is updated with the project name as expected. But when I go and create a new project record, the automation shows as running successfully, but the field in the dummy record is empty. Am I overcomplicating this/approaching this wrong? Appreciate any help!

Hi All, Relatively new to airtable but learning fast. I have a map app that shows my different types of accounts color coded by type. What i was hoping to do is code a button for each record to go to that specific location on the map app, rather than having to manually search the entire map (US only). is this possible? I’d assume so via possibly scripting or a custom app, but i dont have a lot of experience in this. Any suggestions or even alternative ideas welcome! Thanks!

I am pretty new to airtable scripting and I hit a roadblock in one of my codes. I need to iterate and create multiple linked records into a table, but my code is throwing me the following error “j: Can’t create records: invalid cell value for field ‘Property’. Cell value has invalid format: .0.0 must be an object. Linked records field value must be an array of objects with property ‘id’ corresponding to linked record id.” I assume this is because I have to put some sort of id in the createRecordAsync function, but I am not sure how the syntax for that should be. For example, say I have a directory with all the employees an multiple levels of managers. Employees report to a first level manager. A first-level manager reports to a second-level manager, who reports to a director. I create a column for who each person reports to as a “parent” column. I want to create a column to shows all the people that report to a person that is linked to the original parent relationship. Is that possible? The purpose I have is different that my example but the concept is the same. Would appreciate the help! -Liz

Hi, Our team has a base with records that include a status field. We have a form for people outside our team to submit job requests. Is there a way to filter a view that only shows records submitted through the form? I was thinking perhaps assign the status “Under Review” by default when the form is submitted and then filter on that, but assigning defaults doesn’t seem to be an option. My goal is to have a DOB field concatenate with a name and calculated age field. Currently the concatenate works fine with CONCATENATE(Child_First,", “,Gender,”, ",Age) = Rohnan, Boy, 10M When I add DOB field I get Rohnan, Boy, 10M, 2020-12-15T00:00:00.000Z How do I get rid of the T00:00:00.000Z at the end? When I use the Date_time format I get gibberish. I changed a field view from a normal input cell to a formula cell and all of the data was erased. I need to know how to go back and just undo that change as I worked for several hours on other tasks and I don’t want to undo all of that work just to get that data back. How can I do this please?

Hi all, I have base a certain table with fields “Production method” and “number” as per attachment. (The numbers are imported testdata) The goal/ each production type should get an (auto) number. each production should get the highest number available +1in the field from a certain range. eg. "production-type 1 should get the highest number + 1 available from field "Number. The highest number available must lie in range 30000 to 40000 eg. "production-type 2 should get the highest number + 1 available from field "Number. The highest number available must lie in range 20000 to 30000 When a production method changes value, a new number must be calculated in another specific range. Business wise this should not occur, but might be needed to catch user mistakes I was planning on doing this via Automations. “When record is updated” Or “When a record matches conditions” → “Run script” But I have not much coding experience. Hello everyone, I’m very new to Airtable and also a non-coder. I’m trying to launch a script as an automation’s action, which is pretty straightforward. However, the script I’m trying to launch needs settings to be populated before each launch, ask for a confirmation before launch and therefore the script needs to be run manually. However, those settings are now fixed in my base so i would amend the script code directly to reflect those. I don’t know how to proceed. is there any way to access a single record via airtable API without using recordID? tried SEARCH() filterbyformula but not working since it is a number field. need to access records based on the SerialNumber. thanks in advance

This ought to be easy. I want to display records on a calendar by a single date field, but the date field for display is calculated: It’s the DueDate if there is one entered, otherwise it’s CreatedDate. IF( DueDate=BLANK(), CreatedDate, DueDate ) Dates in, dates out, right? Nope. A formula field using the above formula cannot be used in the calendar, apparently because the result of the formula is not recognized as a date. Now the following DOES work: DATETIME_PARSE( DATETIME_FORMAT( IF(DueDate=BLANK(),CreatedDate,DueDate),"MM/DD/YYYY" ),"MM/DD/YYYY" ) Seriously? Is there not an easier way to do this?

I’m using a button with “Gmail” & ENCODE_URL_COMPONENT({Email}) & “&su=” & ENCODE_URL_COMPONENT({Subject}) & “&body=” & ENCODE_URL_COMPONENT({Body}) to send an email through Gmail it it works great, but how do I attach a file from an attachment field on the record? I really like the control of a button. I’d rather not use an automation. Thanks in advance!

I’ve created a form for users to input data onto a table. As we’ve growing, some of the status selections have been changed. However, the form did not automatically update. We are creating many forms for our users, and it will be difficult to remember changes on every form. Is there a way for these forms to automatically update (like the views update automatically when shared?) or is this not a feature. Is there a work-around if it isn’t a feature? thank you in advance. I am revisiting this topic from 2017 (see bottom for reference post) I have two tables linked: Tasks, and Subtasks. Tasks also has a column called Area (single select). When I group my data to the linked table Name Field (first column) I can add new entries via the “+”. However, if I group by the linked table “Area” column, the “+” is not visible for adding new items. Similarly, if I then add another grouping below Areas, called Tasks, I cannot see the “+” for adding new entries. Does anyone know how I can group by the last two images, and retain the ability to quickly add entries? I’m in the Help guide: Let’s make a base, Part 2: Views. It says to click the drop down arrow to the right of “Main View.” I don’t have a main view, only a grid view. When I click the drop down, I don’t see the Create a new view option. What gives?

I tried searching but couldn’t find the answer. I’m looking for advice on how to track who has the next step in a project. For instance, I have many projects, linked to my tasks (one table for projects, one for tasks). I am looking for advice for ways to track who has the next step, when that step is due or promised. Right now, I have the following columns on my projects and on my tasks: Owner, Due Date, status(planned, active, waiting, done). But, I am running into the issue where I have a hard time seeing when something is due vs when it is promised to me. Is the answer to make a column for due date, another column for promised date, and then a column for who has next step, and who is owning the task? Thank you in advance for your suggestions

Lets say I wanted to store a bunch of information, like bookmark URLs. I might have URLs that relate to News, Apps, Development, and these would all be in their own folder in a browser (for example). I know I could store these simply in Airtable using 3 different tables (News/Apps/Development) and each table would have just 1 column (URL). Another way to store them, using 1 table, is to have the column names be the folders where the bookmarks were stored (News/Apps/Development) and paste in the relevant URLs into the correct column. What do you think of this method of storing data? I’m sure it breaks every rule in the book about how data should be stored, where records should contain related data (in this approach that would not be true). But if I wasn’t going to do any processing of the records, would this not be a simple/efficient way to store a bunch of URLs? For one they’d all be viewable at the same time, rather than clicking between tables. Any thoughts on this ridiculous approac

Hi! I’m new to both Airtable and building databases more generally. I have a question about junction tables. I’m trying to build a table similar to what is described in this video and on this page. But I’m stuck on a specific thing. I’m trying to build a junction table that contains a record for each association between one of 15 training programs and one of 51 faculty members. The GAP video and the Airtable support page suggest that such a table would have 615 results - one for each intersection between each of the 15 training programs and each of the 51 faculty members. And indeed, when I build my junction table, I get many hundreds of records. But the thing is, only about 10 or so of the 51 faculty members taught at any given one of the programs. The only way I’ve managed to build a junction table gives me a record for the intersection of each faculty and each program–even ‘false’ intersections between faculty and programs they didn’t teach at.
