Hi all, I have base a certain table with fields “Production method” and “number” as per attachment. (The numbers are imported testdata) The goal/ each production type should get an (auto) number. each production should get the highest number available +1in the field from a certain range. eg. "production-type 1 should get the highest number + 1 available from field "Number. The highest number available must lie in range 30000 to 40000 eg. "production-type 2 should get the highest number + 1 available from field "Number. The highest number available must lie in range 20000 to 30000 When a production method changes value, a new number must be calculated in another specific range. Business wise this should not occur, but might be needed to catch user mistakes I was planning on doing this via Automations. “When record is updated” Or “When a record matches conditions” → “Run script” But I have not much coding experience. I’m trying to put together a form for screening, however I cannot figure out a way to create a formula that would enable me to give an automatic output based on the form response. In short, if someone writes a symptom I want the last column to output a false, or a fail message. I have tried doing this but haven’t been able to. Hello everyone, I’m very new to Airtable and also a non-coder. I’m trying to launch a script as an automation’s action, which is pretty straightforward. However, the script I’m trying to launch needs settings to be populated before each launch, ask for a confirmation before launch and therefore the script needs to be run manually. However, those settings are now fixed in my base so i would amend the script code directly to reflect those. I don’t know how to proceed. is there any way to access a single record via airtable API without using recordID? tried SEARCH() filterbyformula but not working since it is a number field. need to access records based on the SerialNumber. thanks in advance

This ought to be easy. I want to display records on a calendar by a single date field, but the date field for display is calculated: It’s the DueDate if there is one entered, otherwise it’s CreatedDate. IF( DueDate=BLANK(), CreatedDate, DueDate ) Dates in, dates out, right? Nope. A formula field using the above formula cannot be used in the calendar, apparently because the result of the formula is not recognized as a date. Now the following DOES work: DATETIME_PARSE( DATETIME_FORMAT( IF(DueDate=BLANK(),CreatedDate,DueDate),"MM/DD/YYYY" ),"MM/DD/YYYY" ) Seriously? Is there not an easier way to do this?

I’m using a button with “Gmail” & ENCODE_URL_COMPONENT({Email}) & “&su=” & ENCODE_URL_COMPONENT({Subject}) & “&body=” & ENCODE_URL_COMPONENT({Body}) to send an email through Gmail it it works great, but how do I attach a file from an attachment field on the record? I really like the control of a button. I’d rather not use an automation. Thanks in advance!

I’ve created a form for users to input data onto a table. As we’ve growing, some of the status selections have been changed. However, the form did not automatically update. We are creating many forms for our users, and it will be difficult to remember changes on every form. Is there a way for these forms to automatically update (like the views update automatically when shared?) or is this not a feature. Is there a work-around if it isn’t a feature? thank you in advance. I am revisiting this topic from 2017 (see bottom for reference post) I have two tables linked: Tasks, and Subtasks. Tasks also has a column called Area (single select). When I group my data to the linked table Name Field (first column) I can add new entries via the “+”. However, if I group by the linked table “Area” column, the “+” is not visible for adding new items. Similarly, if I then add another grouping below Areas, called Tasks, I cannot see the “+” for adding new entries. Does anyone know how I can group by the last two images, and retain the ability to quickly add entries? I’m in the Help guide: Let’s make a base, Part 2: Views. It says to click the drop down arrow to the right of “Main View.” I don’t have a main view, only a grid view. When I click the drop down, I don’t see the Create a new view option. What gives?

I tried searching but couldn’t find the answer. I’m looking for advice on how to track who has the next step in a project. For instance, I have many projects, linked to my tasks (one table for projects, one for tasks). I am looking for advice for ways to track who has the next step, when that step is due or promised. Right now, I have the following columns on my projects and on my tasks: Owner, Due Date, status(planned, active, waiting, done). But, I am running into the issue where I have a hard time seeing when something is due vs when it is promised to me. Is the answer to make a column for due date, another column for promised date, and then a column for who has next step, and who is owning the task? Thank you in advance for your suggestions

Lets say I wanted to store a bunch of information, like bookmark URLs. I might have URLs that relate to News, Apps, Development, and these would all be in their own folder in a browser (for example). I know I could store these simply in Airtable using 3 different tables (News/Apps/Development) and each table would have just 1 column (URL). Another way to store them, using 1 table, is to have the column names be the folders where the bookmarks were stored (News/Apps/Development) and paste in the relevant URLs into the correct column. What do you think of this method of storing data? I’m sure it breaks every rule in the book about how data should be stored, where records should contain related data (in this approach that would not be true). But if I wasn’t going to do any processing of the records, would this not be a simple/efficient way to store a bunch of URLs? For one they’d all be viewable at the same time, rather than clicking between tables. Any thoughts on this ridiculous approac

Hi! I’m new to both Airtable and building databases more generally. I have a question about junction tables. I’m trying to build a table similar to what is described in this video and on this page. But I’m stuck on a specific thing. I’m trying to build a junction table that contains a record for each association between one of 15 training programs and one of 51 faculty members. The GAP video and the Airtable support page suggest that such a table would have 615 results - one for each intersection between each of the 15 training programs and each of the 51 faculty members. And indeed, when I build my junction table, I get many hundreds of records. But the thing is, only about 10 or so of the 51 faculty members taught at any given one of the programs. The only way I’ve managed to build a junction table gives me a record for the intersection of each faculty and each program–even ‘false’ intersections between faculty and programs they didn’t teach at. I want to use a rollup to get an average of the existing numbers, but not all the fields in the column I want an average from have an existing number and return NaN. I want the rollup to ignore NaN.

I have a view that contains records filtered just by the coming week. Is there a way, maybe with scripting, to automatically advance the dates in the filter by 7 days, so each week the filter automatically updates with the current week’s records? Thank you!

The formula is simple in that I want field A multiplied by field B to = field C What happens is because field B is rounded due to the limit I put in the field because I just want two places after the decimal, it is calculating based upon the original math and not what the cell shows. For example. 51 x 68.33 = 3,484.83 but the cell shows 3,848.70 bc of the original amount being 68.3275 How do I get the field B to use the actual data in the cell instead of the original so that if someone not in the know can see that 51 * 68.33 = 3,484.83 Thank you in advance!

Is there a log somewhere that tracks who opens a base and when?

Hi, I have an automation which sends emails using the in-built Outlook integration. Sending plain email works fine, but I can’t seem to get it to send any attachments. While configuring the step which sends an Outlook email, I can specify a field in AirTable which holds a pdf file in the attachment section. However, when the email is generated no attachment is sent with the email. Is this feature working or is there something I need to do?

After inadvertently triggering an automation several times recently, I started thinking - it would be great to have a confirmation dialog option where a dialog box could pop up with “Are you sure you want to…?” first, before the automation actually happens (in my case, sending out an email). Alternatively (or in addition to), it would be great to have an option to limit triggering the automation to only once per record, even if the conditions in the record change. Would anyone else use these features?

Hi, I would like to download attachments via API or download link keeping the original file name. I managed so far to download all attachments using the URL airtable generates for each attachment using a HTTP get request to the link. The issue is that when downloading through the URL it gives new generic names for all files such as: file (1) file (2) … file(103) Etc. Do any of you know a solution to this? I am currently setting this up in Integromat. Thanks!

Hi Airtable Community! I’m developing a base to manage a bike polo championship. So far so good, I could implement all the function that are required, but I’m stumbling on a formula that I can’t get to work. On this table I want to get the final score for both Teams. As for shown with the example on the last column which it was achieved with a Count field and a filter with the name of the Team ‘Test1’. That is not a solution for me, because what I want is to filter the count based on the name of the column ‘Team 1’ and not on a particular team name. I’ve tried to combine IF () with FIND(), IF(FIND({Team 1},{Which team scored?}),1,0), but then I get only a 1 or a 0. Does anyone have any idea on how I can then count the frequency of the string in the column ‘Team 1’ and than count it or Sum it? I’ve tried to add SUM() or COUNTA() in the formula, but unsuccessfully. I would very grateful if anyone can help me :winking_face: many thanks, Claudio

Hello! My use-case may be unique, as I am project managing a movie theater. I have a Calendar view of all confirmed films by Date Range defined by a “Start Date” and “End Date.” Some films are on runs (typically Friday-Thursday ie Start Date 10/29/21, End Date 11/4/21), and others are single events (ie Start Date 10/29/21, End Date 10/29/21). I have written a formula to categorize films by status (“Coming Soon”, “On Screen”, “Closed”) as follows: IF( IS_AFTER( {Start Date}, TODAY() ), "Coming Soon", IF( IS_AFTER( {End Date}, TODAY() ), "On Screen", "Closed" ) ) My issue is that single events will appear as “Closed” on the day they open (duh). This status is easily fixed by setting the End Date to the day after it opens, however this yields two-day-long entries for single events on the graphical calendar, which is obviously misleading for our staff. This is the setup I’m trying to achieve: I have a contacts table with: Name (primary field), Email, Phone, Address, etc. By default, all this users receive my weekly newsletter, because they all subscribe it somewhere in the past. The users can decide to stop receiving the newsletter, but I don’t want to delete their email address from their record (as the information on this table is also used in other situations, appart from sending the newsletter). My ideia is: to create a table with only the removed email addresses and, on the Contacts table, to add a column where there will be a check mark if the email address for a specific record is part of the removed emails list. With this setup, I can have the newsletter subscribers 100% updated, as when I insert a new removed email on the removed emails table, that email will be instantly flagged on the Contacts table and will not be used on the newsletter for the next week. Hello I’ve built a cryptocurrency portfolio app that uses an automation as follows: The trigger is a “At a scheduled time” set to once every 15 minutes. The Action is “Run a script”. The script fetches Cryptocurrency prices, converts them to £GBP and then writes them to a table for inclusion in some formulas. When I share this base, the automation is not shared, I must provide setup instructions to the recipient so that they recreate the automation. This is true even if the base has been copied to a Workspace with a Pro plan. I see that recently, the scripting App has become free to all users so wonder if I can remove the Automation but replace it with a Script App that will be able to trigger on a schedule, programatically. Is this feasible? Does anyone have any experience, advice or suggestions for a better solution? I can see similar questions were asked in this category but well over a year ago. Many, many thanks

Hi, I’ve been stuck with this for almost 2 days now and have exhausted all experimentation and research. Looking for any help I can get. I have a field in Airtable called @EventRegistration, which is a linked reference field but allows linking to multiple records from another table. In Integromat I’m using the Update record module for Airtable and what I want to do is that each time a new form response is submitted, I want to add an item , i.e. append a new linked reference item. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a way to do this. With each run, Integromat simply updates the original linked record when instead I want to keep appending to this multi-reference linked field dynamically. I cannot predict how many items will be added. I just want items to be appended when my scenario is triggered but instead Integromat overwrites this field with the latest value from the current run. How can I have Integromat append to my multi-reference linked field instead of overwriting it? Thanks in
