Hi, I have below table which I track all the transactions each per row. Transaction No Description Income Category Total Amount N1 Apple Social Media 100$ N2 Nike Production 120$ N3 Mercedes Content 310$ N4 Adidas Production 170$ N5 Toyota Content 210$ N6 Porsche Social Media 305$ Using the above detailed table, I want to create another table where I summarize the total sum of respecting categories. What I want to do it, I want to sum all values belonging to a specific category in another summary table. Income Category Total Amount Social Media 405$ Production 290$ Content 520$ Tried to use Rollup but no luck. Any idea how I can do this? Thanks

I have a “citation” field for my “article” record, an article may refer to several citations, e.g. Book A, p.57 and Book B, p.327. Obviously I also have a “Books” table with book name and published year, author etc. But I don’t know how to associate “page number” easily with the selected book. Must I create another table linking Article, Book and page number? This would be the obvious way in traditional database design and you would create a UI to simplify the book/page number selection. However in Airtable it would be a multi-step process for the user: select Citation field, create Add+, select the book, add page number, then close the book-page record, then close again. Could this process be simplified so the user only has to select the book and add page number in one action?

Hi, Sorry if this seems a simple issue, but I’ve got a table with a list of venues… some start with “the” (eg: The Royal Albert Hall). I want to be able to display the list of venues in proper name order - ie: Royal Albert Hall, without “the”… I’m thinking having the full name as one field, and a second, formula, field which removes THE if it’s the first word, but not if it’s in the middle of the name - eg: Her Majesty’s THEatre, or Auditorium at THE Excel Centre… Could anyone help please? I want to create an Automation that will sort inbound emails into categories for me, and label them I already capture the email text content via Zapier which creates a new record for each email and, among other things, writes the email text body to a Multiline text field in the record. I then need to classify each email, and label the record accordingly. I have about 12 different message types. Each record includes a Single Select field with 12 options, I use this field to label each record according to message type. My message types are pretty simple and each record can be classified just by looking for and matching a unique text string within the text body from each email - ie the message body can be very long, and I’m looking for particular unique strings within the message. This seems like it should be a job that Airtable Automation could do pretty easily, but I’m a noob with javascript. I have a table of activities with start and end date columns and a column for the person assigned to the activity. There will be hundreds of activities but only one person should be assigned to each activity. How can I see if a person is assigned to more than one activity during the same time period?

Hi All, I am attempting to embed the scripting block into stacker, but am not having any luck. the block keeps showing up as greyed out. (Image below) Any idea on how to fix this? P.S. i’m not having this issue with any of Airtable’s built-in blocks. Not sure this is an Airtable limitation because they do give you the option to embed the scripting block. Thanks

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to have a table automatically update, as I create new entries on my main table. Specifically, I have a table where I add new vfx shot names and info and I want the status table to automatically add these new vfx shot names as they are added to the first table. Is there a way to accomplish this? Manually adding hundreds of new entries on one table is fine, but to add them to all the other tables would be inefficient.

I am trying to use the new Airtable Automation to update record. I have a form that captures updated information whil I am auditing a computer. This information is stored in a table called Encryption Audits. I want to use airtable’s built in automation to update a separate table with any information that has changed. Encryption Log is the name of this table. When I try and set it up to update, I get “received invalid input.” I am attemptimg to take the fields from the encryption audit table and update my encryption log table with this information. Even tried just having it update the record with text I typed in manually. All attempts end with invalid input. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello, I’m trying to create an automation in Zapier where when a record is updated in a Google Sheets spreadsheet, automatically a specific record in Airtable is also updated. For that, I followed the steps on this page: https://support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/218151657-Using-Zapier-s-Multi-Step-Zaps-to-find-and-update-records Everything worked perfectly using a test table that I created in Airtable, but when I try to use the table that I really want to update, I’m getting the following error message: “The app returned” Unknown field name: “fldGbqW7NsISXtzKT” “.” It is as if the “Record” field that I am using as a reference to update the record was not being found. Could you please help me?

When I link to a Base with a “RATING” (Little Hearts) to create a viewable, duplicate column in another base, it only allows the field to show up as integers in various forms. No Hearts. It doesn’t make sense as I’ve been able to pull over logos from other fields, is RATING just broken?

Sorry I struggle like crazy with formulas and know I post on here so often but Airtable is amazing and has revolutionized our reported!!! Cue me getting over-excited and moving everything into Airtable which is great 99% of the time and leaves me with my head in my hands other days. I was just wondering if anyone could help me I have a base for my family support workers, I have added a date created so I know when the referral came in and we have a linked table for interactions which is essentially every time we contact them so there are a lot of linked files in here. What I am trying to do is add a column to work out the date of the first interaction and then a second to work out the number of days between the referral coming in and the volunteer contacting them. Please can someone help before I literally start pulling my hair out

Hello, I’m new here but it’s look like, it’s the tool I need. I have an e-commerce site with a lot of product with a lot of turnover and all this products are in bundles of products. Easy no ? So I want to create a table with all my product and create an other for each bundle and add all the products I need in it. The goal is to create a list of SKU to import them in my ecommerce site with an other tool. For exemple in the bundle A I need a chair so I had chair A. If the chair A is not in stock I would like to automaticaly add the chair B in the bundle and delete chair A, Later if the chair A is in stock I would like to add automaticaly the chair A and delete the chair B, If the chair A and the chair B is available, I want only the chair A First and important question, Is it possible to do it ? Hi - I am a new software engineering student and my school has turned us on to Airtable … an excellent resource for building some viable back-ends! Question: my table only has 200 rows, plain to see. But, the Over limits tag appears at the top. When I click it, I am taken to a dash that says my base has 1,226 / 1,200 records and I should upgrade. What gives? Is it counting records that maybe were once created and deleted since? I ask because I had done some batch posts/deletes earlier. I can’t find any indication that the record count would include prior deletions…and it would be a funny way to account for data, so I don’t think that’s it. Please help before I lose access to my (modestly-sized) trial data! Best, Sean

Hi, Here is my problem : In my “people” table, I want to display a count of “meeting” records created by each collaborator. In my “meeting” table, I created a “created by” column that automatically sets itself to the creator of each new record. It is important that this information cannot be manually overwritten, this is why I chose “collaborator” field type instead of directly linking it to my “people” table since links can be changed by every user. Now I need to link both tables so I can create a “count” column in my “people” table to count the number of meetings created by each collaborator. In a nutshell, I need the link between those two tables to be automatically set through the creator of each record in the “meetings” table. The problem is that there is no way to set a “Collaborator” type in the Primary Field of my “people” table. Do you have any suggestion that could work around it ? Hope I am clear enough

I have started to build a pedigree database for my cats. I want to se result in health so for me it’s importent to follow my breeder lines. I have some questions regarding Blocks and though Org Chart is it possible to have more relationships types than one? As it is now I can se the mothers lines and the father lines but not at the same time. Is it also possible to embedd blocks into en website or share just the view from the block? Hope someone could help med!

There is no KanBan view available in the iOS app, and the user is told to use the web browser to see this view. Unfortunately there is a persistent dialog on the web home page after you log in redirecting you to use the iOS app. Does any one know how to solve this? Thanks in advance

This question was asked by another user in February but was closed without an answer. It does not seem possible to move cards between stacks in the KanBan view on an iPhone or iPad at least. Surely this is a basic requirement of the KanBan view? Is there a tip or trick? Or is it something that the broad user base do not need? A reply would be appreciated even it is to confirm that the answer is “no”. Thanks in advance for any help.

I would like to have a total of all ordered qty for each item but got this error. When I use a lookup field, it shows ordered qty correctly.

Hi there, I’m new to the community so apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong area. What I’m attempting to do is use the Automations function (next to blocks) to send an email when a new record enters an Airtable view: Trigger: When a record enters a view. Action: send an email. For the email address, I’m asking Airtable to lookup the email address from a linked record ValuesBy LinkedRecordId. When I select this, I receive the following error in red: ValuesByLinkedRecordId cannot be converted to a string When the action is changed to send a slack notification, that same email field shows a preview and appears in the body of the notification. I’ve tried changing the email field to short text, adding quote marks and commas, all unsuccessful. As a new user, I can’t attach screenshots to this topic. Hope this is enough info. DThanks

I cant seem to get this formula to work. its prefilling an airtable form but i cant get the second feild to fill. it says its a good link it just doesnt fill the second box. heres what i have CONCATENATE(‘https://airtable.com/shr4cGVHhm4dRLllz?prefill_UNIT=’,{UNIT} & ‘&PLANT=’,{ENCODE PLANT}) here is an example of what that outputs https://airtable.com/shr4cGVHhm4dRLllz?prefill_UNIT=261A&PLANT=12-CONV the unit number prefills fine but the plant does not. 261A is the data from the UNIT table. the title of the field on the form is also UNIT. 12-CONV is the data in the feild PLANT. The title of the feild on the form is also PLANT note everything in my base is in all caps and “encode plant” is all the plant names run through the url encode formula. i also have a single select with three options id like to prefill also if someone can help me with adding that as well?

I’m a freelance writer. Here’s my overall goal for Airtable: Collect raw data by which to cold contact companies > Make contact with said companies and move data to a Contact list > Work contact list until a contact becomes a client > Store dynamic information on all client activity such as first and subsequent project briefings and timelines; planned delivery dates; payments and all that jazz. I want to be able to reference raw data from the prospecting list across all tables as they narrow down from uncontacted Prospect to Contacted to Client. I was hoping to set the actions so that all the raw information in a single Prospect record could be linked or maybe automatically transferred to the Contact list once the “Status” field is updated to “Contacted”. Then, once a single contact record is updated to “Client” by check box field, it would transfer to the Client list without dragging all the raw data with it, just keeping linked to it. Does this make sense? If this is possibl
