Hi, I teach an online course, and I’m using a base to collect files from students for assignments, sort of like a dropbox. I’ve built a form that has required fields, like Name, Student ID Number, and a dropdown menu for choosing which assignment they’re turning in. This works beautifully, except there’s no timestamp associated with their upload of an assignment. So, if I don’t record all of the assignments turned in by the deadline, someone could turn in something late without my knowing it’s late. Is there a way to add a timestamp to a field within a form? Hello! I would like to set up a sort of competition. For example, let’s say I would like to keep track of the number of pushups someone does and reward the person with the most push-ups (assume that no one will lie). I was thinking of the following setup. One table hosting the user’s information, and a second table that contains entries for every single day. I can’t really do a normal linked column because that reveals all of the information of the other participants when I make a form. I tried doing something using the incrementing number field on the users table and then having an ID column on the pushups table but I can’t really find a way to do something like SELECT * FROM pushups WHERE ID=1. Is this too complex for Airtable? I can provide any more information if you need. Thanks

So I have a potential client who would like to embed specific views on his site so the public can view the data, but he doesn’t want the user to be able to sort and group the data. The request seems a little wild to me, but that is what they want and you give the customer what they want! Is there anyway to do this? Currently I am just saying we can send you PDFs and then you can post those on the site, but that obviously isn’t as cool. Does anyone have any better ideas?

I’m trying to create a formula that will list multiple fields that are empty, but can only get it to list a single field. It is meant to be a quick reference field to see what info is not filled out in a row. The goal: IF {Field 1}, {Field 2}, {Field 3} are all empty, but {Field 4} is filled out, then list “Field 1, Field 2, Field 3” Below is my attempt. It only ever lists a single field, seemingly overwriting other values that would be returned. If I introduce OR IF it breaks the formula. Hello. I have product titles which are generated by combining quantity per set, color, and finish. So far, I have managed to write an IF nested formula for the color & finish scenarios: {IDENTITY_Parent Product Name}&IF(OPTION_Color=BLANK(), ‘, ‘&OPTION_Finish&’ Finish’, IF(OPTION_Finish, ‘, ‘&OPTION_Color&’, ‘&OPTION_Finish&’ Finish’, IF(OPTION_Color, ', '&OPTION_Color))) However, I would like to add a scenario at the beginning, that IF the “SET OF” field is >1, it will then write ‘Set Of {Set of}’ right after the {IDENTITY_Parent Product Name}. For that part, I wrote the following: IF({FEATURES_QTY Per SKU}>1, {IDENTITY_Parent Product Name}&’, Set Of '&{FEATURES_QTY Per SKU} The challenge I am having is that any way I tried to combine either I would get an error, or it would stop reading if it found the Set Of >1, whereas I want the formula to not stop reading there but continue on and apply the rest of it to have a result where we

in our simple CRM system for our shop, we’d like to keep record of which dates the repeat customers have visited in the past. (and count them up to know how times total he/she has visited) We know each day the customer visits since the staff enters it, but what’s the best practice for keeping track of all the dates of the visits? Is there a way to automate some of this?

So, I made a calendar view based on a calculated field. Everything in the calculation seems correct and items appear in the proper spots within the calendar. But every entry on the calendar begins by showing the month in the date calculation. Why? You can clearly see which month each entry is using - it’s a calendar! So why show this subset of a field before showing the primary field name? Seems like a bug.

Hi I have a student / courses many to many relationship. I’d like to have a column in the Students table with only the current year’s course. Is there a way to to this using a formula? It guess it would have to filter according to the year column of the Courses table. If courses.year = 17 () Is this in any way possible?

How long can long text be?

Airtable doesn’t seem especially forgiving of formulas doing numerical operations when the original cell contained text. For example, I have a cell describing engine sizes of cars. They’re pasted in like the following: “1498cc”. I’d like to show the engine size in litres, which would translate to “1.5 Litres” What I’d like to do is have a formula substitute out the ‘cc’, then divide the remaining 1498 by 1000 (which would be 1.498), then round the 1.498 to 1 decimal place (1.5), and then put " Litres" at the end of it. The following formula works exactly as you’d expect in Google Sheets / Excel: =concatenate(round(substitute({Engine Size}, “cc”, “”)/1000, 1), " Litres") However, Airtable formulas doesn’t seem to be able to treat ‘1498’ as a number after the ‘cc’ has been removed.

I’m struggling with dates, and suspect it might have to do with the different conventions for describing dates. Here in NZ (and in most of Europe) we use DD-MM-YYYY whereas in the US you use MM-DD-YYYY. Rather than describe in words, it will be easier to show you these screenshots that tell the story. I’m trying to present a date (that is recognised as a date), that is stripped of the time details in the DateTimeStart field.

I have a field called {Expires}. I would like to use the filterByFormula parameter via the API to retrieve records that have no expiration date or that have not yet expired. This successfully retrieves records that have no expiration: {Expires}=’’ This successfully retrieves records that have not yet expired: IS_BEFORE(TODAY(), {Expires}) Putting the two statements into an “OR” condition seems like it should work, however it only returns records that have not yet expired—omitting records that are empty/blank/have no expiration: OR({Expires}=’’, IS_BEFORE(TODAY(), {Expires})) I have also tried testing for ISERROR rather than =’’, but the behavior is the same. This works as expected (returns records with an empty/blank {Expires} field): ISERROR(IS_BEFORE(TODAY(), {Expires})) This omits records with empty {Expires}: OR(ISERROR(IS_BEFORE(TODAY(), {Expires})), IS_BEFORE(TODAY(), {Expires}))

When using filterByFormula via the API, records on which the given formula produces an error are returned NO MATTER WHAT—even when a different record ID is supplied. For example, I have many records with a {Start Date} field containing a date and one record with an empty {Start Date} field. IF I use the API to ask for records with filterByFormula=“RECORD_ID()=‘rec5pBFqsn3Bva8mz’”, I will of course, only get that one record. As Expected. And if I use the API to ask for multiple records using filterByFormula=“OR(RECORD_ID()=‘rec5pBFqsn3Bva8mz’,RECORD_ID()=‘n3Bva8mzrec5pBFqs’”), I will get only the records I specified. As Expected. However, if my formula references the {Start Date} field, then any records on which that formula produces an error will be returned, even though its record ID was not among those specified. So using DATETIME_DIFF on the {Start Date} column in a filterByFormula means I’ll ALWAYS have the records with empty {Start Date} included in the results—even if I try to in

I am trying to make a basic formula such as 2X4 = 8 however i constalny get an error message in the formula column any thoughts?

Formula error in inventory (imported cvs) when computing unit price. COST column is specified as currency ($) and QTY column is integer 2 numeric.
