Many times we wish to have a single select or multi select field automatically choose an output based on other fields. Automations are useful for this, but are limited and become convoluted as a separate module, especially when you have many of these use cases in one table.It would be very useful to have a single select or multi select field with an inbuilt formula box, where the select output could be determined by the formula. You could then introduce another option to lock formula mapping (ie no ability to edit), or freeze mapping, where an Auto value output would generate unless the field was manually overwritten.The workaround at present is to create three Fields, 1 select field for manual input, 1 formula field for automated input and one last official formula field to take the most relevant of the two previous outputs. This generates clunky database design, similar to when there was no today() function.

Hi, I have a Single Select field that has the options “This week”, “This month”, “This quarter”. I’d like these to be automatically chosen and updated based on a Date field. The purpose of this is to use a Matrix block to display records by a “Event Type” Single Select on the Y axis and in relative date categories “This week” etc on the X axis. Is this possible, or can anyone suggest a better solution?

I created an "upgraded" form and gave users commenter access to the base and workspace. However, when they try to upload a file (images to be specific), they get an "invalid permissions" error. Is there a setting that I am missing? I tried out this setup with the old forms and it seemed to work.

(One table gets data from Stripe if the student is able to pay anything. Another table shows teacher comments about the student from the prior year.)In the past, we set up links between the tables. Then, for each student, we manually linked the individual records and had "lookup" fields for the fee & comments in the main Student table. But we had 750 learners register with us last year!How can we automate this? I'm thinking that an automation would need to:1. Hi AT CommunityI have a Google Sheet which has cell values (text/currency) which I would like to bring into Airtable. Along with those values I need the user to answer some questions. I would like to prefill form fields with the cell values from the Google Sheet, hide the fields, leaving visible only the questions which I need answering. Any suggestions on how I could go about this please? It needs to be a one step from Google Sheet to Form. I have looked into prefilling a Google Form from Google Sheet, this then populates Google Sheet (form response Google Sheet), when a row is added it creates a record in Airtable Base. I don't think you can hide Google form fields which isn't a huge problem, but not my preference. Any other thoughts or suggestions. THANK YOU.

Hi,I have a field with created dates. I would like to be able to create a chart that shows this data, grouping by the month of the created date. However I want the year to be irrelevant. For example, March 2024 and March 2022 to be shown in the same group within the chart.I have created a new field with a formula to show the month only which works perfectly. But then when I create a chart on the interface, they are in alphabetical order and not date order which is not want we want.Can't think of a way to make the chart display the months in date order, or another way for this all to work. Any help is appreciated!

Hello:New to Airtable and new to the forum here...Looking for a solution to combine records in my field {Component], for every change in records in my fields {Location ID} and {Room}.  For example, in the attached image I would want to combine WF218, W361824, RF9624 3/4, W3330, and so on to B18, in a new field.  This is to correspond with {Location ID} 1-3-302 and with {Room} A Acc Kitchen.  For the next combined field, the result would be ADA SB30, for location 1-3-302 and room A Acc Bathroom.  I would like to accomplish with a formula, but I understand I may need to create a new linked table.  I am attaching 2 views; one is grouped and one is a straight view, for clarity.  Thanks so much!!  

Hi, Table A, B, and C. Table B fields are linked with Table A and Table C. I'm trying to run automation. Whenever a new record is added, I will filter the records from Table A and Table C based on the condition. Then I need to create a record in Table B by linking the data from Table A and Table C. Now I can filter the records from Table A and Table C using the Find Records action. but not able to run a nested repeating loop. I can do only one repeating loop.

Hello! I found the "Splitting text to alternate columns separated by ;" thread and was hopeful that it was exactly what I needed, but after trying to implement this formula I am not getting the expected outcome. I'm not sure if it has to do with the format of my data including a mix of hyphens and underscores or if there is something else I'm missing.I have anywhere between 1 to 5 lines of text that I need to break out into their own columns instead of being combined. I know this should be easy, but I'm new to Airtable and apparently missing something obvious.I want to let users add a new contact to my base.I have a People table and a Companies table.  They are joined with a multi-to-multi Roles table [Person, Company, Job Title].I've built a form to accept a new People record, but:1) How do I detect if a matching record already exists.  If it does, I don't want to create a duplicate2) I want the form to also ask for the new contact's company and create a new Role. But, I can't ask for Company in a form on People, If, instead, I put the form on Role, then I can't create a new Person or Company; I can only accept existing ones.My assumption is that I'm trying to force the system to act in a way it doesn't want. And, that's fine. I know about the various training resources for Airtable. I am wondering what more advanced users may suggest as far as approaching how to apply the tool to particular problems. We are an HOA management group and are moving away from Town Square in order to build our own internal workflow system. Member data, project submissions, complaints, gate access requests, etc. How does one ‘visualize’ a scenario in which AirTable can address these disparate parts to our system? 

Hello,I am trying to make the process of time tracking more user-friendly. Instead of using the duration field and writing manually each time record, I would like to use two single select fields as StartTime and EndTime pickers, each containing values 00:00, 00:15, 00:30, 15:30, 15:45, 16:00, etc.But I am stuck with a formula that makes a magic difference between these two times.Is it even possible with a formula, or does it need to be done with some sort of script?Thank you

I manage a very large grant program (100+ active grant recipients ongoing), and we're doing most of our data tracking in Airtable.  We want to add a customer/grantee portal, and I have seen various Airtable add-ons mentioned. (We do not want to add each grantee as an Airtable user.)Our main need in this portal is something that can handle/track communications between our team and grantees. We need something that threads or lists all the communications that went to that particular grantee, regardless of which team member sent the message.  ie: Sometimes one team member starts a conversation, then others pick up and continue the conversation. This needs to be clear and easy to follow (no massive "original message" bits tacked onto the bottom of every reply like happens when clients using ZenDesk hit "reply" in email.) I work with a team and we have a field that we write notes in it (I don't like the comments section), the field type in Long text. It is very easy to accidentally delete contact from it. I want to defend it from this by demanding the user to manual saving the changes in the field, i mean like without auto save, that a user will have to hit Save button in order to modify the content. Is it possible? and if so, is there any built-in tool that i can do it with or we will need code / other external tool. By the way i know that we can Undo actions with Ctrl+Z but the problem is that we are not always notice that we've accedantlly deleting something. 

Good afternoon everyone! I’m trying to create custom currency conversions for a project I’m involved with. We’re traveling around the world selling concert tickets at the door of the venues, and each country has a different currency. I want to be able to take the ticket price for each country’s currency and convert to USD which will then be displayed on that record. I’ve seen this script is available to convert currencies, but I don’t know how to make the currency type dynamic as it only seems to show a single currency in the example. How can I edit line 7, where is says “GBP” to take the currency abbreviation from a field that exists within the record (ex, EUR,NZD,AUS). Any help is appreciated!!

I would like my base's users to be able to create interfaces so that they can work with the data exactly how they need, however I do not want to grant them creator privileges. I also do not want them to be able to share interfaces (or event better if possible, share only within our organization). Is this possible?

I am trying to set up an OAuth for Make, as API keys are no longer available to use, and it says not to give Personal Access Tokens to third party companies.I do not understand what the 'OAuth redirect URL' is supposed to be, at the moment I have tried the web address for Airtable https://www.airtable.com/, https://airtable.com/oauth2/v1/authorize, the web address for my Airtable base, but no luck.
