Hi Airtable Community! I'm Matt, a Software Engineer here at Airtable. We're excited to announce some new features of number fields that give you more control over how numeric data is formatted and abbreviated. To access these updates, create a Number field or configure an existing Number field.What's included in these updates?Format numbers for different languages. Using the new “Thousands and decimal separators” setting, you can format numbers automatically based on users' language preferences with the new “Local” option. For example, an English-speaking user sees 1,234.0 while a German-speaking user sees 1.234,0. You can also choose a specific format that applies to all users regardless of language preferences. Support for additional languages and regions will be available over the coming weeks.Control whether thousands separators are shown. You can choose to display a number or currency field with thousands separators (1,234,567.0) or without (1234567.0).Abbreviate large numbers. I

We’re so excited to announce that we now have Portals available in Beta for customers to unlock guest access for their organization.   What are Portals and why would you use them? With Portals, you’ll be able to invite users outside of your organization as guest users to your interfaces. These guest users will see a custom sign-in screen and be able to collaborate inside your interfaces together. Hi everyone! Update 2022/11/02 - The new time zone formatting options for date time fields are now generally available! We’re excited to announce a new beta feature that allows you to specify a display time zone of your choice on date fields that include time and formula fields that output a datetime value. Once you specify a time zone for a field, this time zone will be visible and used for all collaborators. We’ve heard your feedback that time and time zones can be tricky to manage, and we hope that being able to choose from a broader list of global time zones can make collaborating across time zones much easier and clearer for you and your teams. You’ll only be able to use these field-level time zone settings in your base if you’ve signed up for the beta and you can sign up for the beta via this form. The first time I decided to use airtable For the purpose of familiarization, I went through the steps of onboarding I chose a template about “cinema” - it drew everything for me, some data had already been entered, and displayed further steps in the left menu (see screenshot)And so I go through these steps, add my data, create new tables and records, and spent two hours on it.And finally, I click on “Remove sample data” in the hope that it will delete all these movie mocks and leave only mine - but alas, it deletes ALL RECORDS ALTOGETHER. All sorts of “Undo”, “snapshots”, digging in the trash - nothing could get my data back. This is probably a message for support, but alas, everything is so riddled with bots that it is impossible to turn to someone for help.

We’re so excited to share an improvement to interfaces that will let you print some layouts or save them as PDFs.What can you print or save as a PDF?For certain Interface layouts, you’ll now be able to easily print interface pages or save them as PDFs.We currently support the following layouts:ListTimelineCalendarRecord DetailsIndividual record detail pagesUp to 100 record detail pages in one PDFChartsWe’ve also made some improvements to printing views from the Data tab as well for Calendar and List.How do you print?There are two ways a user can trigger an export in Interfaces: by hitting Cmd/Ctrl + P, and by clicking the “Print” option at the top of the page under the “...” menu. You can also choose “Format for printing” to help print-outs be more legible. This will change the background and border colors of records to make it a bit easier to read.What is not supported yet?Print for Timeline view in the Data tabPrint for Grid

I’m eager to share that we have just launched support for pivot tables in interfaces! Starting today, all users on a Teams plan or higher will have access to pivot tables directly in interfaces. What is a pivot table? A pivot table is a powerful data analysis tool for succinctly summarizing and analyzing large datasets. The format of a pivot table lets you rearrange and aggregate data dynamically, making it easier to identify patterns, trends, and insights.  Historically, the only way to use pivot tables in Airtable was via the Pivot table extension.
