Base Design

Hi all, is it just me or are the bases slowing down?I'm waiting 30 seconds for a new table creation, and 3 seconds to change a field.

Hello everyone,I'm looking for some advice/best practices for my situation.My company has a weekly report that they dump into an excel but it's just screaming to be formatted as a database. I've started importing the data but there are some glaring issues once it's within Airtable.Currently there is a {Name Field} formatted as "LastName, FirstName", but this field can vary as it relies on human input. I'm struggling with getting these individuals into their own table while also having Airtable recognize these names during the next import without creating fuzzy duplicates.One saving grace is that each name has a unique ID number, and using this as the primary field makes this step very easy, but when we want to link that record in another table, we're unable to search by name and there are over 100 ID numbers to look through.Is there any elegant solution to normalizing data such as this? Hi. I'm working on creating an AirTable base with complaints. The form is made with Fillout.I wanted to know if it's possible to restrict access to a record if the user selects a certain option in a single select field. We'll have several people having access to the base and I wonder if I can hide certain records for an user A when a single select field has a specific option chosen.Thank you.

I want to create a form that users can fill out to enter an awards. When they fill out the form, if their company or contact details already exist on the 'companies' or 'contacts' tables, I want them to be able to select this when they search. If their company or contact details do not exist, I want them to be able to enter their details so their company and contact details are entered on to the 'companies' and 'contacts' tables. This I can do. However, on the 'contacts' tables, all contact names are linked to a company on the 'companies' table, and vice versa. On the '2024 entries' table, if you enter a new 'contact name' this gets added to the 'contacts table'. If you enter a new 'company' this gets added to the 'companies' table. However, the contact name is then not associated with the company name on the 'companies' table, and the company is not associated with the contact name on the 'contacts' table. Is there a way t

Hello to the community,I have a form dedicated to archiving interactions with prospects. In this form, I select a "company" (which calls the company table) and I select a "contact" (which calls the contacts table).My wish is as follows: when a company is selected, I want the results displayed in the "contact" field to be only the contacts who work there. Currently, all contacts are displayed and appear in the drop-down menu, which wastes time.The contact/company association is well performed in my tables, but I don't see an option that allows me to limit the fields to be displayed according to a selection in the airtable form creation tool.Any ideas?Thanks in advance,Damien

Issue with Linking Payments to Attendance in AirtableHi!I’m transitioning from managing a dance school in Google Sheets to Airtable and have encountered an issue when trying to link student payments with their attendance. I need the administrative staff to be able to see if a student has paid for a specific class in the corresponding period (month) when recording attendance, or if they owe for that month. In Sheets, this is incredibly easy, but in Airtable, it’s NOT (or perhaps I’m missing something, which is why I’m reaching out with the hope that’s the case).Table Structure (simplified for this example):Students Table:Fields: Name, Contact Information, Attendance (Linked Records), Payments (Linked Records), etc.Classes Table:Fields: Class Name, 

The problem is, for example when creating a new table from import, and having fields with 0s and 1s, it imports. then you change the field type to checkbox, and everything works.Now, if you already have those fields as checkbox, and delete all the data from the table for ex, then import back in, the fields doesn't recognize the data and every checkbox field is just blank. the system should already determine when importing back the data to map correctly to the checkbox type field. and dont omite data.Best regards, Lorenzo  

Hi there, I'm new here, was hoping someone could help guide me on a small problem I cannot seem to resolve. I need a simple solution and instructions how to create a roll up of some designs in my list. So that when a design has more than one color, I can leave it rolled up, so when I am scrolling, I am not going through loads of the same design.So, as you can see [a] is the first one and any after that b, c, d, etc. will roll up underneath. I tried using roll up but really not sure what I am doing. I'm obviously doing it wrong and wondering if there is a simple workaround that I don't know of.I have many designs I want to do this for too.The second picture I have moved a, b, c, d, etc. from the SKU to a line of its own but unsure what to do next. I need a step-by-step guide, if possible, please.

Trying to import an Excel file into Airtable with selections in Excel field.  Is this supported by Airtable's import function?  

I have a base template that was duplicated from a separate workspace (WS-A), reworked and overhauled in the dev workspace (WS-DEV). On the original base WS-A were two previous users who had workspace-level permissions THERE, but zero shared access on the dev workspace where the duplicated version was developed into its new form. The duplicated base was NOT shared with those two users from WS-A, and they do not appear as users in that workspace (WS-DEV). Once the new base was ready to move into its next production workspace environment (WS-C), those users do not appear in the User type field for assignments in the dropdown. So far so good.HOWEVER when I create a Kanban view stacked by the User (Assignee) field, those users DO appear, like shadow options. I'm not able to delete them from options in the User field type, they do not appear as having the base or workspace shared with them on WS-C, etc.See screenshots.Admin help to resolve appreciate

I’m trying to create a weekly meal planning base (and app? Just starting with the base so far). For each week, I’d like to choose several recipes to make from a Recipes table, and I’d like to be able to check them off as I go.Linking multiple recipes is easy — this would just be a “link multiple.“ What’s not as obvious to me is how I might indicate completion status for each one.So far, I’ve ended up making another table called “Days,” in which each record has a link to a recipe and a checkbox for completion. Then I link multiple days in the week, instead of linking the recipes directly. The problem is that this gets pretty complicated when I just want to quickly plan a week. Can I work around this with clever app design? (Hi, I’m new here! 👋) Or should I be approaching the base design differently?Thanks!

I have a new repair business. I have two tables related to this question:One contains People, some of whom own items that they want repaired. The table includes contact info and the repairs they have submitted; the latter is a linked record field.The other contains Repairs, linking back to the item owners, providing all the details of the repair need, and indicating the current status in the repair process.I want to include a field in People showing Active Repairs, which are those that match certain statuses representing "incomplete." I am trying to build a shared database for ~30 research sites. There is a set of shared variables that all sites will track but sites also want the ability to track additional site-specific data points. Each site should get to see and edit ONLY their own records (i.e. they should not be able to see or edit any the individual records of any other sites). Each site should have access to an interface dashboard that shares summary data for the shared variables across all sites. I've tried a few different approaches, but haven't found the solution yet. I tried creating different views within the same table for each site, but I don't think that will work because I can't seem to restrict access to a view to only one site.I tried creating different tables within the same base for each site, but I don't think that will work because then I can't create a dashboard that aggregates across all sites.I think syncing may be an option, but we have the

Is there a full proof setting where editors are not able to add new select field options when using the CSV import extension?

Trying to do some base cleanup and design, and having trouble with dependency reporting. Table A has Field ATable B has Field B (Field A Lookup)On Table A, when viewing dependencies of Field A, it shows one dependency listed, which is as expected the Table B's Field B. It also notes in small text that 9 dependencies rely on Field B.On Table B, when viewing dependencies of Field B, it shows zero dependencies listed. So what is the disconnect here? Are there 9 dependencies on Field B or is it 0? If i delete Field B i get NO notifications/warnings, but im not sure if im breaking something somewhere else and wont know until i happen to come across it.How to troubleshoot and resolve this as its not just 1 field doing this, its regularly happening all over the place where the dependencies reported do not align.   

Hi all,I was wondering if anyone have experience with making a simple expense overview per project in Airtable?I'm thinking like maybe a quick registration per project with a drop down that determines what the income / expenses is and it add's each registration to an overview per project.Example if you want to register a invoice from a supplier you would choose expenses and do a little text like Supplier Name and the cost.Then it would on each project add these together and give a quick overview (something like attached picture)I hope it makes sense. I’ve read a couple threads on this but didn’t see an answer. When I open a Linked Record, the fields it shows do not directly correspond with any of my actual views from that table. I want to rearrange the fields for the Linked Records, but don’t know how to adjust if they don’t seem to be coming from one view. They are not coming from the first view in that table. I would like input on design or if it's even possible. Here's my scenario.  I have tried this a few ways through Co-Builder, but nothing that works yet.Our organization does a survey for every event/program we have.  The questions are always different.Other staff need to build forms, but they are not 'techy.'  I would like to build a system that creates their evaluation forms automatically and they would have the ability to edit easily through the interface or form builder.  I also need to be able to show the results through an interface real-time.Surveys look like this:Speaker 1 Rating (rating field)Speaker 1 Comments (long text field)Speaker 2 Rating (rating field)Speaker 2 Comments (long text field)(more speakers, not always the same number of them)Which experience was the best? Im loving MiniExtensions and Airtable. It does exactly what is needed without clunkiness. Creates a portal for users to work with and see your data.  Id looked at Softr, Noloco and others, but they get very pricey or very complex fast and need a lot of line by line field crafting. MiniExtensions is simple and does the trick.Keen to see though, with anyone else using Airtable and MiniExtensions, how are you better managing login and front end access?  Airtable creates users and magic links well, but Im hoping someone may have worked out a way to manage password or phone numbers to send the passcodes to? Users at my end are fairly simple so I need to dumb it down and keep it secure same time.

I have a table where we can record incidents occurring at school and select an incident category (e.g., stealing). Once a teacher selects an incident, they can choose the logical consequences from another table. Each incident category has a list of specific consequences. Can you explain how I can create a dropdown menu in Airtable and Airtable forms so that the values available for logical consequences are filtered to show only those related to the selected incident category?

I have a lot of personal views. I'd like to split them into sections like you can with collaborative views. I can't find an option for this. Is there a way to do this?

I have two existing bases in the same workspace on a Team plan. The new dynamic filter option appears in one of the bases as an option for new and existing linked record columns. It does not appear as an option in the other base, either on existing linked record columns or new ones. All of the linked records use text fields for the primary key. What makes dynamic filters appear as an option in one base but not another? Thank you

I am building a base to control the orders of my market. In there, I want to "Add a new order" and select the products of the order, while choosing their quantities. Is that possible? Also, I want to calculate the order value with the quantities of each product.

I am working with a new company that has five main areas I would like to manage using Airtable. These five areas operate independently but collaborate on the same projects, each contributing different inputs.Here is my question:Which is better: to have five different bases that sync (one-way) to a main base, or to have all five areas work in a shared base with individual tables and permissions?
