I am using Airtable to send data through to another platform (Formstack Docs aka Webmerge). My base has a main record with a number of linked records per main record. The use case is that each item from the linked records will be a new row on a document. In order to do that, I need to send the data through to the document in JSON. Is there a way that I can produce the JSON of the linked records with a script within Airtable? Ideally I could put that JSON into a long text field. Failing that, is using a code step in Zapier the only other option? Thanks Shaun

The situation: I’m setting up an attendance function on a sheet. Name, date, checkbox. Easy. I need other uses to be able to click that checkbox as well as myself. The problem: Any other user has to be promoted to the level of “Editor” to click the checkbox. We’re a really small non-profit and I just realized that promoting six people to editor so that they can check a box is gonna charge us … a lot. I’ve already emailed support to say “Whoops! Please don’t charge me for my idiocy.” The solution? Obviously, I could do this quickly in, say, Google Sheets. But my data in Airtable is synced, so the pool of possible attendees is live and could grow or shrink depending on data in another sheet. I can’t afford to promote 6 folks to editor for a few months while we are in-season. Is there a way around this? Is there a way to create a front-facing document where a user can click that checkbox without them being an editor? I feel like I could turn this into a form that has all the possibilitie

Hello! For a school assignment (Software Development and Design) I am creating a game and using airtable as the online highscores database. So far its been working really well, as soon as one of my friends completes a run a record is added to my records table and it can be sorted so that I can see who is ontop of the leaderboard. The only issue with my current setup is that it has become hard to see any of the other players becuase a few particular users have filled up the top 300 slots or so as shown in the image. (Please ignore my friends “creative” choice of usernames) So what I think would be a good solution would be to either 1) Have another view/table that only shows the best run for each username or 2) remove/hide all of the runs that are not the best run Thanks, Tom Howarth

how can i show linked records for a selected table record that changes dynamicly when i select/deselect rows? i can get selected row ids from cursor, but i am struggling to to select and show linked recods

I noticed three records missing from a table, which had been created via an API call. The API call response indicated success, including a response object containing the same number of records (and with recIDs) as had been POSTed in the call. However, these records do now not appear in Airtable. There is no record of manual deletion in the base trash, and the view is not filtered. I was wondering what could be going on and so decided to look at an automated Airtable snapshot taken on the same day. The records were not in the snapshot, but I did notice that the snapshot was taken at the exact same minute that the API record creation POST call was made for the missing three records. Is it possible that the snapshot process has interfered with the record creation call in some way (perhaps a DB transaction lock or similar), resulting in the Airtable API response to prematurely report successful creation?

Hi there, I have a question that I can’t seem to wrap my head around, so I would love to have your input. Let’s take a look at the following screenshot: As you can see, I group records based on a name. In this case, we have “K” and we have “T”. I would love to create a sum of the points for each person. So K would have 1 point, where T would have 5 points. There is indeed already a SUM, but I’m not able to sort on the SUM of each group (if I can, please let me know how, meaning that T would be on top of K). So, I would like to create a field that is able to calculate the SUM from all the records for each name separately. I would not mind if I would see that same result in each record, but the idea is to create a scoreboard, where the highest sum of points for each person is on top (currently, when I sort, it just sorts on the individual point). Is this possible, and if so, how would I go about this? (Basically, I want to do some kind of count if on each name separately and on each mon

Hi community! I have a very strange issue here… I have a lot of duplicates within the same field, a lookup field (I’m not so sure why, but that’s for a different question) In order to try to create a field with no duplicates, I created another field with the formula: (ARRAYJOIN({Most recent First Name :zap: },", ")) It works fine for most of the records, but in some it creates a a comma in front of the name, which I couldn’t get rid of. It happens only in some of the records, and only those that are not duplicated to begin with For the full picture, the next step is a field that takes the string that I created and find the name to the left of the comma which gives me just the name. Any idea what is it that I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

Community experts, Sorry for the long title. I am very new to coding of any kind and without the community I would have never gotten this far. Basically, I have a synced table in my base and I have a automation script to link the records based on a field, “Part Number” in one table and “Part#” in the other. The trigger for the automation is “When a record enters a view”. I am linking the record in the synced table, Orders, to the Inventory table. Hey all. I’ve searched a handful of times but can’t seem to find another example of what I’m trying to accomplish. I’m looking for some help with an automation or script that can automatically add the correct inquiry number. We do this manually and it’s slowing down our response time and ability to, well automate processes. Our inquiry numbers syntax: YY-NNN or an example: 21-846 The next inquiry would be 21-847. This being the two-digit current year as a prefix and then just an integer of the number of inquiries. As others have noted, the “Auto-Number” field is not sufficient. The field name is Number in Table RFQ where we’d like this new number to go automatically upon new record creation. Our inquiries mostly come from an airtable embedded form. Sometimes we manually enter them too.

I’m running a datediff formula but it’s not displaying the result I’m expecting. I would like the output to include the day itself. In other words if I’ve got a date range from 28 April to 30 April, for our purposes this is a 3 day event. DateDiff gives 2 days though. I understand this is a known issue, but I’ve read several threads on the topic and tried a few solutions but still can’t figure out how to fix this. I have two fields of scores, one from a 2020 publication and one from an upcoming 2022 publication. I am trying to be able to show if the score is an improvement, worsening, or the same. The issue being that the score “0” is an acceptable input and the formula is recognizing 0 as blank instead. Hi, everyone. I have a question about Airtable API. As far as I know, Airtable API doesn’t allow direct image uploading and needs a public URL that images are stored. However, the images include very sensitive information in my case, so that they can’t be stored in public. In this case I guess I can use S3 presigned URL. My question is, can Airtable API retrieve images even if the URL is only temporarily available to public? Thanks, Ryo

My Airtable has purchase order data, and I need to be able to present a single page, multi line PO for records and vendors. I have an excel doc that will “make it pretty” for me, as long as the data is present. If I was the user I would just copy/paste, Save As and move on. The person who needs the PO is very computer illiterate, so I need a print button or similar to “make it go”. All I need is to copy the data from a specific view into the Excel doc (preferably a blank master doc) and then either have it automatically Save As or at least pop up the Excel program so Save As can be done manually. Since this is an instant trigger I don’t think I can use Zapier/Integromat for it. I know that there is a script on here for pulling data into a power query (sorry, am on mobile. link later), but that seems to be button in Excel doc, not button in Airtable. Is it possible/effective to try a script? Is there something else I don’t even know is an option? Thanks for the help.

I’m new to Airtable scripting but I have figured out quite a bit already. Using many different sources I have written a script that copies my task template into my task table bases on picking the name of the template you want to use. Now I’ve been asked to add some additional fields with different types and my script does not work anymore. Let’s start with the first field type with an issue: Multi-select Current error: P: Can’t create records: invalid cell value for field ‘Test Multi-Select Copy’. I’m trying to write a simple IF statement in the CM Maturity Date column comparing the Policy Type field and outputting either a DATEADD function, if “Claims Made”, or a text string (“N/A”) if “Occurrence”: This is the formula that I currently have in CM Maturity Date that results in the above screen cap: IF({Policy Type} = ‘Claims Made’, DATEADD({Retro Date}, 5, ‘year’), “N/A”) For the Claims Made policy type, it should have added 5 years to the retro date. Hey all, Is anyone else having an issue with colors not showing on shared Gantt Chart views? This is an issue that just came up today that has not been an issue before. I have a Gantt Chart view showing a list of projects grouped and colored by their status (On Track=Green, Risk w/Mitigation=Yellow, etc). I have had this view shared for some time without issue, but today I was informed the bars in the Gantt chart are not showing color and are simply white… When I view the Gantt Chart view from my base, the bars are colored correctly in line with their status, but once I open the shared view link, the bars are white, not colored. I have changed the settings regarding the colors and have unshared/re-shared/generated a new link to no avail. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there any type of shortcut/hotkey to force a “sync now” in all tables in the base? I often find myself in a situation where I just updated a source base, and am now in the destination base waiting for another table to sync in that base. Thank you!

Hello everyone, I am new to Airtable although not to databases. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me. I am trying to embed a View of a grid table on a web page. The table gives information about traditional fiddle tunes (name, key, etc.). I had no problem following the instructions and getting the iFrame code. I modified the code slightly to change the width from the default 533 to 1200. My website is being built with RapidWeaver 8.8.3 using Stacks 4.2.2 and Foundation 6.8.4. Everything went well, and when I published the page the View was there and all the controls worked. However, when I looked at the web inspector (using Safari on a Mac running Big Sur), there were some error messages (details shortly). I tried embedding the View on other pages, decreasing third-party involvement until finally I just uploaded an index.html page created in a text editor. The result was always the same: the View functioned just fine but there were error messages, always about the same.
