Hi, I’ve been using the “Find Records” aspect of automations and super helpful. It doesn’t seem to be well documented anywhere though, and where I am very confused is that often there will a value from a previous step that I want to use (dynamic), but it is not available, only <>length. Unhelpfully rather than being greyed out, or not visible, I always end up clicking through to find it’s not available! From what I can tell, you can not use any of the following as a dynamic variable in the Find Records automation: Formula value Linked record Roll-up Considering those make up a large percentage of my tables, it’s a little frustrating! Indeed it seems that the only values you can actually use dynamically, are ones that have been manually populated. But that means either having to actually populate those fields manually, or using an automation to print the value int he field (so it looks like it has been created manually). Hi, So I have a field called {First Name} and {Last Name}. I have a formula field called {Full Name}, which is simply the result of {First Name}&" "&{Last Name}. Pretty simple. However, there may be cases when the {Full Name} results in blank. For e.g. when I create a new row in the grid, but no First and Last Name have been entered yet. I assumed that the {Full Name} is equal to BLANK() in this case. I have a primary field {ID}, which I’m using as an ID with the intent that if the {Full Name} is not blank, then evaluate to Autonumber&" "&{Full Name}, so something like “101 John Smith”, “102 Rebecca Jones”, etc. However, I want ID to be a formula such that if the {Full Name} is blank, it evaluates to something like “103 No Name”, instead of just “103”, i.e. I want to see the ID that has no full name explicitly, so I thought a simple IF() formula for the ID field would work. Hello all, I have an automation that is looking for a record with specific values. Sometimes it does not find the matching and it is normal (it is a use case.) I would like to know if there is a way to catch the error of the find function ? If not I was thinking of doing it with a script but I found it strange that in automatisation it is not possible to catch error or even do conditional branch. thanks for your help Alex

Hello! I have two linked tables, let’s say Users and Events, and the Events table contains an Attendees column that links to Users. I want to add a new value to this column using the API. The code is quite simple: await eventTable.update(eventId, { Attendees: [userId] }); But this overwrites the previous attendees. Can I just add one new value to the cell without overwriting the previous ones? I know I can read the previous values manually, add the new one and write the whole array back – but that’s a race condition waiting to happen, isn’t it? Is it possible that someone changes the value after I read the previous contents and before I write the new, augmented value?

What I need to do using the API endpoints is the following: Send a request to create a user (record/row) in a table Then create a Gallery view named as the user’s name Generate a “share view” link/embed code with an active filter. Just started with Airtable, using the free version at the moment on Firefox / Ubuntu. When I log on, Airtable seems to open to a random base in my workspace. Is it possible to set it to open to the workspace screen so I can choose the base I want to use? Thanks! Dianne R

I have an automated email set up, using Gmail, for informing someone when their video is scheduled to be published. This is trigged once the publish date date field is set. I have changed the publish date date format from ISO to friendly format, but it still publishes the scheduled date as ISO format in the automated email. Does anyone know how I generate an automatic email with the friendly date format? Thank you!

How would you go about configuring a field so that you can create a dropdown list of years inside of a form? Is it possible for it to dynamically update with the {current year} + {10 subsequent years}? For example, the form field might read something like: 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 etc…

I have a table with a multiselect field for stages: Submitted, Reviewed, Approved, Completed. I would like to track the date of each stage change in separate fields. So Date Submitted, Date Reviewed, Date Approved, Date Completed. I am using this formula to populate those fields… IF({Stage}=“Reviewed”, LAST_MODIFIED_TIME({Stage})) The problem I am now running into is keeping those date entries even as the stages changes. So when the multiselect is changed from Reviewed to Approved, I would like both the Reviewed Dates and Approved Dates to remain. With the above formula, only the date of the current stage remains. Hey! I know you can rearrange the options in the multiple select FIELD. But I need to somehow organize the actual records with selected options. Take a look at the example: You see, it’s a mess! And my actual table has even more different options - it’s not feasible to do this by hand. I would love to find a way to have them all in order. Thanks!

Hi all I’m trying to update records in a table using vanilla javascript (because I’m building a Bookmarklet, so curl or node won’t work). Hi community, I noticed toward the end of last week that some of my go-to apps aren’t working within my Airtable bases. I recognize today that the issue is related to using the Firefox browser, which has never been a problem before. (Using Chrome, all is well.) Anyone else experiencing this? My browser is updated and I hope this is a temporary bug. Ex1) I can submit text in the search app, but no results are generated. I have the ability to change the view being searched, but it makes no difference. Ex2) The map app is nearly unresponsive. When I expand to full screen I can see the settings, but it doesn’t make any difference if I modify the fields. In each case, the formatting within the app is wonky, too. I’ve included two screenshots to demonstrate. Anyone have any thoughts?? Leads? --Thanks for any insights!

Hello all! I’m new to Airtable and need your help. I’m using two tables with responses from Typeform. Both tables have similar fields, the difference being only the language. So I have Table 1 [english] and Table 2 [Portuguese] populate with similar information. My problem is: I need to populate a third table with both Table 1 and Table 2 data combined. I’m using Zapier to combine the responses for Typefome and send it to Airtable, but Zapier seems pretty unstable, so I’m looking for a way to populate directly from Typerform. Someone know if it’s possible?

Hi, I’m trying to get familiar with the SWITCH formula by taking a shot at using it instead of a nested IF but can’t seem to figure out the following. I have a field called “Expiry Date” (type Date) and another field called “Expired?”, which is a formula field where I’m trying to use the SWITCH formula. My goal is that the “Expired?” field formula should output “Expired” if the “Expiry Date” is lesser than TODAY(); it should output “Expires today” if the “Expiry Date” equal to TODAY(); and should output “Still Active” if the "Expiry Date is greater than TODAY(). The formula I’m using is SWITCH({Expiry Date},<TODAY(),"Expired",=TODAY(),"Expires Today", >TODAY()"Still Active","N/A") I’m definitely doing something wrong because I’m getting a formula error. Hi all, I’m looking to display the result of a formula as a read-only check box. The result of the formula is always a 0 or 1. Here is the formula: IF(AND(OR({Meal Plan Shopping List Recipe}, {Non Meal Plan Shopping List}), NOT({In Pantry})), 1, 0) Adding a screenshot for reference. I’d love it if the 1/0 column could show a checkbox if 1 and nothing if 0, like the other columns. Thanks in advance!

Hi community, I see that the API has a limitation (5 requests per second). We are facing some issues with our API calls and suspect that the limitation of the API is causing the issues. We are using Zapier, AirTable automations and some other API calls via our own platform. Is there an overview where we can see if we (often) reach the API limits and which call is responsible for that? Such an overview would be very helpful in understanding how we burden the system. Hello Community, I am having an issue with an automation and would love some guidance. The automation is intended as follows (w/ pics below). Trigger: When Production Status field IS “Scheduled” AND Review Status field IS “Approved” AND Publish Date field (actually called Archived Publish Date in my table) IS “before today” Action: Update records’ Production Status to “Live” I can see that the tests are working, and the automation triggers when I add a new record meeting the above conditions, but when I run the automation, nothing changes to my existing records meeting those conditions. I was really hoping that it would update all pre-existing “Scheduled” records to “Live” to save time on data entry.

I’ve scoured the message boards and cannot find a workaround for this. I have a formula to calculate a Due Date in a formula field; however, the filtering options for the formula field is quite unhelpful. I would love the option to filter for due dates within a week from now (etc) but the only options I have are “contains” and “empty” - which prevents me from creating filtered lists of Tasks that need to be done soon. The best I can do is sort the entire list - which isn’t nearly as helpful. Anyone have a workaround or idea here (I would like to keep the formula as is - it tracks when items need to be done based on a final date)? I could copy and paste all the values into a date field, but that extra step might be unnecessary (hopefully)? Here’s the formula I’m using if helpful: DATETIME_FORMAT(DATEADD({Event Date},({Days Before Event}*-1), ‘days’),“M/D/YYYY”)
