Hi all, I’ve been using Airtable as an employee for the last few months but only recently have started building some tables on my own, and I’m running into a hurdle that I think either has an incredibly simple answer or just requires a different approach. After going through forums for hours, I figured posting might be the quickest way to find a solution. This will be a musician related database, and I have two tables - ‘Owners/Writers’ to keep records of artists: And ‘Songs’ to house the information for each song they might be a part of: As you can see, each song may have multiple writers. I want to create a column in the ‘Owners/Writers’ table that shows every song that each writer may be a part of; for instance, Ben Allen is a writer on both of the example songs, Song 1 and Song 2, and I’d like those records to be displayed in the ‘Owners/Writers’ table. Hello everybody! Sorry if the question is too basic, I’m new to airtable… I’m trying to keep the wine inventory of my restaurant in airtable, and use a shared grid view to show the wine menu. During Covid situation we cannot use paper menus and we have a QR code so client use its own phone to read it. I have all items sorted by wine type using groups, then price… it works great. The question is: can I add the group name in top of the item list? The list is quite long and non-expert clients will get lost (they are using a smartphone to read). It would be great to have something like: White wines: xxxx xxxx xxxx Red wines: xxx xxx “White wines” and “Red wines” are coming from a single select field which I use to group them. We have a field called Products which is a link to our “Product” table We have a field called Cost which is a lookup field. (looks up the cost from the Product table) In our “ORDER” table, we have a field called Total Cost In that Total Cost field we would like to multiply the Cost by the Qty (quantity) but if there is a value in the Misc Cost field then we would like to multiply that field by the Qty to calculate the Total Cost Here’s the kicker… Basically, we want to use the Misc Cost to override the Cost x Qty total, if there if something is entered in that field. Usually a product is full price for us. Sometimes we get a massive discount on a certain quantity or we get some of a product for free. I still want to link to the existing product from our database, but I want to have this Override field and have my “Total Cost” field use the Misc Cost field, if it’s exists. Sorry if I didn’t explain this very well. Any help here would be great!! :pray:

Hello! From the documentation for the Airtable API, it clearly indicates that there is a rate limit of 5 transactions per second. With the current implementation of our updateRecordAsync for Airtable, we are seeing no (noticible) rate limits. Are Custom Apps not currently subjected to such limits? If not, will it be? Thanks! Hello guys, I have an Airtable managing my bills in multiple currencies. I’ve been trying to customize the [Airtable Currency Converter] (Airtable Scripting) to convert each record with the conversation rate of its date. I want it to be automated given that I have 5,000 records of bills. I suspect my syntax is wrong, but maybe the logic of my code is completely wrong too. Hello- I have a formula field that multiples values from two other rows. It functions properly when multiplying values without decimal points, e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. But fails to account for values with decimal points, e.g., 1.5, 2.5, 3.5. The odd thing is that for those values (the ones with decimal points), it actually accounts for the numeric portion of the values without the decimal value. Specifically, for 1.5 or 2.5, it will multiply based on 1 or 2, respectively. It ignores that there is a .5 tacked on as well… Here is the formula: IF({Mins}=15,".5",IF({Mins}=30,“1”,IF({Mins}=45,“1.5”,IF({Mins}=60,“2”,IF({Mins}=75,“2.5”,IF({Mins}=90,“3”,IF({Mins}=105,“3.5”,IF({Mins}=120,“4”," ")))))))) Not sure if this is helpful, but when I click on the “formatting” tab within the field, here is the response: “Your result type is not a number or a date. I have a base in Airtable already set up that has several tables. One of the tables is my “Contacts” table. I have some additional contacts in some other places and I wanted to import them into this ‘Contacts’ table. So I imported a spreadsheet from a CSV file. The problem is that when I imported the spreadsheet it showed up in my base as ANOTHER table called ‘Imported Table’. Now, I can’t figure out how to add the contacts from my ‘Imported Table’ table into my contacts table. What I am missing here?? #AirtableLoser

Hey, I’m trying to add an attachment to my action email in response to a trigger. The attachment is PDF or PNG and is in an Attachment field. But every time I run a test, it gives me test error: Step failed. Failed to construct the value for “Attachments”. How do I get it to read the value? Your help is appreciated.

I’ve created a scenario in Integromat that watches for files to be added to a specific folder. The idea is that when a file is added, it will trigger the scenario which will add the file to a Table in airtable. Dropbox recognizes the file, it then downloads the file from dropbox. But when it goes to create the record in airtable, it comes back with an error. Here are some screenshots of the progression: This shows that data is coming through the dropbox scenario. However, this is what it looks like when I try to configure the airtable operation to add the file as an attachment. This shows that when the scenario is run, the dropbox listener and the dropbox file download work. But there’s an error with the URL.

I was trying to create a view that would show “My Tasks” on a “Tasks” table. For this to work for any collaborator, I would need to be able to set a filter for tasks where the “Assignee” is “Me” and not my explicit name. Since I could not find anything about this, I assume there is a workaround for this. I would love to know.

I have a view where the primary field is an autonumber generator. About 12 hours ago my code below would have output the list of the IDs of all of the records in a view: let Table = base.getTable(TABLE_NAME); let view = Table.getView(VIEW_NAME) let query = await view.selectRecordsAsync(); for (let record of query.records) { output.text(record.name) } However, it is now saying that each of these records is unnamed. Oddly, the description of the “name” property says that it should be the string of the “Primary Cell Value”. Double clicking the autonumber field shows “This is the table’s primary field”. Can someone clarify my misunderstanding?

I need to combine information from other bases into a new base. Is it possible to copy a single table from one base to another base?

Why would one of my tables not have the ability to move/reorder records? There are no drag handles on the left side of the records.

I have records that are automatically created in my base. Some of them end in the phrase “(X of Y)” to indicate they are one of many. Others do not have this tag at all. I need help creating a formula that removes all instances of this parenthetical count. This would give me ability to group all records with identical names: Kelly’s Record (1 of 2) Kelly’s Recors (2 of 2) ----> all turn in to “Kelly’s Record” However, I need the formula to leave unique records unaffected: Kelly’s New Record —> Kelly’s New Record

Hey guys, I’m struggling to get my if condition to return a value which is formatted as a currency. Formula as below IF(Client=‘Ebay’,{Qty/Hr}*{Qty/Hr Price}*0.029+0.30,’’) This is returning the value as a number with decimals, but refusing to allow me to format as currency Formatting error: Is anyone able to assist with this, thanks in advance.

I am stuck on something that shouldn’t be as hard as I’m making it. I have several formula fields in my base that are calculating dates based on a # of days entered. I want to put all of these dates together - but I’m having a minor issue. Some projects have 1 date, others have 3 - up to 4 potential dates that need to be concatenated. I have a simple formula written that concatenates them "IF( {FP 1st}, CONCATENATE({FP 1st}, ", ",{Fp 2nd}, ", ",{Fp 3rd}, ", “, {FP 4th}))” - so if the FP 1st isn’t blank, put all of the values together. The issue I’m having is that for the projects that don’t have FP 2nd or higher, I’m still getting the commas. Normally this isn’t a big issue, but this field is going on a shared view for clients. Is there a way to write an IF formula to tackle this? Or set it up differently and try to run an array formula on this field?

Guys you are always so amazing, I have tried everything I can think of I have a table with rows that represent different branches and then there’s 15 columns representing a variety of different areas all with options red, amber, green - i would really like to have a colum that counts how many “red” responses there are, how many amber etc but I cannot work out how to do that - any ideas Thanks in advance

Hi all, I’m loving the new Automations in Airtable, but getting stuck on what I think should be a pretty simple thing… I have a table that functions as an inbox for messages and attachments coming in via a Zapier integration from an email inbox. And I want to then use Automations to copy these incoming records to various tables where they’ll be processed - I have a growing variety of incoming message types so want to split out the handling of each type to a dedicated table. I can easily create new records and populate with much of the relevant data, but I cannot move an attachment(s) across to the new record in the second table. What’s the easiest way to achieve that? Hi everyone, Im trying to put together a payroll base for my small start-up but Im finding it quite challenging dealing with the income tax calculation bit which requires the use of a progressive tax bracket system. The income tax bracket system has the following rules - Chargeable Income Rate (%) First 319.00 0.0% Next 100 5.0% Next 120 10.0% Next 3,000 17.5% Next 16,461 25% Exceeding 20,000 30% Since there isnt any vlookup in Airtable like in Excel making an if statement is impossible. I am pretty sure there is a simpler way to go about it but I just dont have the insight yet. Any help is totally appreciated.

I have 2 fields that are linked to other fields. I want to combine the 2 fields in a 3rd field and keep the 3rd field still linked. If I do a simple {Field 1} & {Field 2} in a formula field, it makes the linked records into stringed text. How can I keep the resulting field still linked? Thanks!

I’m using a formula to populate the PrimaryKey field which looks like YEAR(Date_form_submitted) &"/"& MONTH(Date_form_submitted) &"/"& {department_code_lookup (from Departments_Lookup)}&"/"& rolling_id It works perfectly without any issues. What I want to do is add this generate value in a form. So for example, someone is submitting a new form and prior to submission I want to let them know what the PrimaryKey value (labeled as URN) is. Equally is there a way that I can send an email on submission that includes the Primarykey (URN) value to the submitter? Regards Simon

With the Pro plan, there are “20 synced tables per base”. Does this mean that a table can only send its data out to 20 other tables? Or does it mean that a table can only have incoming data from 20 synced tables? Or both … or something else? Thanks.

I would like users to be able to select an individual name when filling a form. I created a calculated field with the Last and First Names. But it seems I cannot add a calculated field to a form. How else can I do this? Just to clarify. If I have calculated two entries “Smith, John” and “Smith, Peter” how can I list them in the form?
