Can a function be shared in other scripts?

I've been working with scripts and have been loving it.  I know the answer to this is probably no, and would be nice to have, but not a huge thing but....Is it possible to have a some common functions that I write shared across other scripts I use in my base?  I can continue to just copy/paste them in the scripts I need.   I know it goes against the ethos of low-code, I just have a few I use a lot.

How to output a list of cell values with Scripting automation

Hello - I have another frustrating issue with regard to using the output.set function.I am able to access a list of records from a query using  output.set("Record List", query.recordIds), but as expected it only outputs a  list the record ID strings.What I want the output.set list to output is a list of values from the query result.  Put differently, I am trying to build a list of records, and have the output  be a list of the cell values.Once I have that list, I plan to pass it to a repeating group automation step.I am not understanding what I need to do to prep output.set to output a list of cell values.  // query for every record in "User Accounts" let table = base.getTable("User Accounts"); let view = table.getView("Unlinked Member Script"); let query = await view.selectRecordsAsync({fields:["User ID","User Login"] }); //this outputs the list as record ID string; output.set('Member List',query.recordIds); //I want the output to be a list of User Logi

Forcing or reformatting email from forms to lower case

Hi,Is there ways to (i) force an email address collected through a Airtable form and to (ii) convert an email address coming in from an external system to lower case?We use Airtable as a CRM/ERP system, hence we register contacts and events for those contacts (for the purpose of this question). The first touch point is an Airtable form, after which the contact is directed to a Calendly event. The one piece of information connecting these inside Airtable (and a basis for a lot of automations) is the contact's email address.Yesterday I debugged an automation, and realised it had not found the right contact due to a capital case beginning of the email in the contact's data. Had not thought about these (naturally) being case sensitive.I see that one can user lower() in formulas, but would not want to use several "parallell" fields/columns for this. I tried to use lower() to encapsulate the data field in the automation, but that didn't seem to work.Suggestions how to do this?Rgds,Björn

Can a schedule trigger be defined by a record?

TLDR: Can you have an automation trigger that is a scheduled date be changed by data in a record?I was telling a friend about airtable and she asked me how hard it would be to have a notification email go out based on data in her record(s).  She was thinking about using airtable to define different appliances and systems in her airbnb's, and wanted to define data for an HVAC system (there may be several) that has air filters (of which one system may have 1 or more) and have the reminder be sent after say, 3 months.  If she doesn't get around to changing it until month 4, she wants to have the form allow her to say "yes, changed on this date, remind me again in another 3 months" Of course, that's the human talk description, I know it would actually be checkboxes and dropdowns.  She may change one sooner if she had lots of clients, but she doesn't want the notification "every 3 months", but rather, every 3 months after her last change.

Open URL contained on a field through an automation

Hi guys!!!I´m trying to set up an automation which could find some records under determined circunstances. Then update a couple of fields and finaly open an Airtable URL which is contained on a field and is different for each record. Everything works quite good, except que the URL openenig which i have no idea how to make it happen. I guess it would be through a script, and should be so complicatyed, but i have no idea how to start. Thank you in advance for your time.

#ERROR using SUBSTITUTE()

Hello! I want to generate some HTML code using a Lookup function and I've been running into a weird issue. Populating a dropdown list in another table using the record names

I have a database where the first table is the registrations, then I have four more tables with their own forms. I want people that registered in the first one, to find their name in the other forms instead of filling it out again. So what I need is for the the name of the records from the first table (registration), to automatically populate a dropdown menu in the other four forms. Do you know an automation to do that?

Script to POST a file

I'm trying to script a POST request to the Covve API to parse business cards. Their technical support says "the API does not support passing the file via URL. Chat GPT for Data Analysis

I'm trying to use ChatGPT to analyze written data from airtable surveys, but ChatGPT is unable to access the information from a csv file. Is it possible to connect ChatGPT to Airtable in order to give it access to specific tables? The idea would be to be able to ask ChatGPT questions such as "What are the top 3 things guests enjoy about this trip?" based on the survey responses.

How do I change the time zone on automation actions?

When a form is submitted it shows the GMT date & time however when an automation email is sent it sent as UTC. Can someone please help me fix this.Thank you.

Hi, I'm trying to update one date and time field {end date} based and on another date and time field {start date}. The catch is the {end date} cannot be later than 10:30PM PST (2024-09-01T10:29:59-08:00).

How can I remove a value from an automation when a record is updated?

Hi, I am having trouble figuring out an automation.I have a field for a project end-date, and I use an automation to enter a fiscal quarter based on a date table (and another automation to update that quarter if the date changes). When the project is cancelled or put on hold, I need to remove that date. When I do that, the fiscal quarter field remains as the last entered. Is there a way to have that revert to blank?Thanks!

Filter Calendar By Record

I am building a "record review" interface, and I am struggling with the calendar element.  Each record has a series of dates as milestones but unlike every other field, I don't see a way to filter or format the calendar to show ONLY the dates of the record I am reviewing, it only shows the milestones for ALL records.Is there really no way to filter a calendar, either as a view or as an interface element, by a specific record?  This seems like such basic functionality I am struggling to accept this is the case.I found this thread which seems to clarify this, but I am re-asking in case I am missing something:https://community.airtable.com/t5/interface-designer/is-it-possibel-to-show-dates-in-a-calendar-element-within-a/td-p/183219

Email Automation with URLs stripping underscore from link

Hello all!I have a formula field in one of my tables that generates a custom URL to an Airtable form where I want to pre-fill one of the fields, and send the URL to the main point of contact through email.The formula is this:  CONCATENATE("https://airtable.com/XXXXXXX/ZZZZZZZZZ/form?prefill_ClientID=",RECORD_ID(),"&hide_ClientID=true") And it shows in Airtable correctly (this is a direct paste from the table field): https://airtable.com/XXXXXXXX/ZZZZZZZ/form?prefill_ClientID=recTuHzXP2YsNencA&hide_ClientID=true However, when the email automation runs, the URL that shows up has the 2 underscore characters removed, as follows:  You'll see that the "_" characters after the words "prefill" and "hide" have been stripped.  I don't believe it's the email client (Google) doing this, as I can email the direct link from the table through email and it comes through fine. Any idea why this is happening? John

Need HELP on designing UI for a Grid View or List View dashboard

Hello,My organization has developed a great app in Airtable for our really unique use case (context at the bottom). The functionality of the app is really, really great. The user interface design and usability is poor and is now causing problems, and I'd like help improving the user interface.The biggest problem is that we have so many different datapoints that we need to access, that our "Grid View" tables are too wide, so we can't see all the information at one time that we need to see. How can I transform my Airtable user interface into something that's really helpful and usable? All the data is there, and it works well, but the UI is too complicated. Does anyone have recommendations, best practices, or resources to help me understand how I can do this?I also considered using "Record Viewer" interface, but I need the "high level view" of all records, not just "zooming in" to one record at a time.I'd love to use List View and have a "2nd Row" of fields I coul

DATEADD WORKDAYS VALUE using a number field from a lookup

 Hey there. I came soooo close to getting a working formula for what I was trying to achieve but fell at the last hurdle.I have a date field and a number field from a lookup. I am trying to create a formula that gives me a new date based on the the date field and the plus or minus number in the lookup number field. I am using this formula currently which is working and showing the new dates correctly.DATEADD(Date, VALUE(Deadline&""),'days')  I am trying to update this formula so that it only takes into account workdays but anytime I also try to add this, I get an error in my formula field:WORKDAY(DATEADD(Date, VALUE(Deadline&""),'days'))doesnt seem to work. Wondering if someone can see where I am going wrong. Thanks in advance.

I have a table with fixed license plates, the cars should be checked regularly and a form is filled out. When the form is submitted, all data from the form should be entered in the correct place in the table.Example:Registration number: ABC-123 in tableVehicle inspection was carried out on a vehicle with a license plate (ABC-123) and now the data should be entered in the table where the license plate "ABC-123" is located. how do I do that?

Automatically populating linked records

New Airtable user here, so this is a pretty basic question (and so hopefully a straightforward answer!), though I can’t find existing guidance in the forum. Specifically, I’m having no luck creating a “Link to another record” column that automatically populates itself with those linked records. The Project tracker template provides an example of exactly what I mean: the Task column is linked to the Tasks table and automatically fills with any new records that are added to the latter. When I attempt to create a new “Link to another record” column with this functionality, however, it’s blank and stays blank (doesn’t pull in existing or newly created records from the Tasks table). What am I missing? Do I also need to create an automation, app, or something else to do the work of pulling in the records? (I don’t see any such automation or app in the template though). Any guidance extremely appreciated - thank you!

Automation to copy page url into table to save settings

I want to preserve the setting from a search on an interface page, this needs to be dynamic, so a view does not work as I don't have access to the setting from within the interface page.Below is an idea of the search, location, age, gender etc... In this case a Filter connected to a grid inside a interface page shared amongst users. Rather than copy and email the link to them it would be great to name it and save it.If I copy the page url for this search the parameters are contained in the URL. I want to be able to save that url into a 'Saved Searches' table that we can refer back to a reload said search.

Conditional step triggers too early because of GMT

My automation has a conditional step that runs if these conditions are met:{Date Assigned GMT} is on or after 10/01/2024 AND{Date Assigned GMT} is on or before 10/31/2024I am located in the Eastern Time Zone. I am aware that automations do everything in GMT.How can I prevent this step from running until it is really 10/01/2024 in Eastern Time?

Google Docs Update

Hello, I am trying to use the “Update Google Doc” automation but I do not understand how to fill the “Content” section with the “Select field” option. I have created a google doc template with fields using the google add-on “Fillable Document”, but when I click on “select field” option in the Airtable automation, I do not see any field to select. Does anyone know how I have to set up my google doc template so that Airtble identifies fields from this file? Thank you Pascal

How to count number of individual attachments/files within a record?

So I have a single Attachments field in a table that allows for multiple individual files to be attached to a record. I want to create another field that counts the number of files that have been uploaded/attached to that record. I then want to them pull this number into the primary field of the table to provide a quick way to see how many files have been attached to the record (e.g., 5 videos, 11 screenshots). However, the built-in ‘count’ formulas seem to be only counting the occurrence of an attachment for the record, not the number of individual files within the record; so as a result, it is only showing things as having 1 or 0 attachments, even though there are multiple individual files that have been attached to that record within the Attachments field. I came across an old thread about counting attachments (for some reason it’s preventing me from including the link here) but it seems outdated given the formulas now available, plus I could not get the formula to work at all. Help with detecting duplicates in a field

I’ve attempted to follow the recommendations here to detect duplicates in a field but have not been successful and could use some expert eyes on what I’ve implemented. I did put a reply on that thread but since it’s a couple of years old, figured I should start my own question. Here are 2 screenshots from the 2 tables in play. Anyone see where I went wrong? TIA!
