Hey Airtable Community!First time community user so please be kind! I work for an Event Production company, we are beginning to explore the possibility on switching to airtable. We currently use an Edoc software called Pandadocs for our proposal writing.I am trying to figure out the possibility of when Documet completed → Airtable duplicates a prebuilt base and then takes the pricing table information in the doc and pushes it into each table accordingly.I will admit there is still a lot of details still up in the air, such as what is a table and what is a view? But I am focused on how mechanically I can make that kind of automation and what guardrails I should look out for?
Is this possible? I have multiple views which I use, but not all information needs to be displayed when I add a record through a linked record. Right now, it seems whatever view is at the top of the list in a table is the one that shows up when a linked record is used.
There is a BASE / Table / bunch of fields. There is web app using API, which neatly makes a form for users to change their details, not just create as Airtable native forms.Everything works perfectly, until team member changes the field name.I know you can use serial name “fld123ABC456”, but it involves creating another object to hold pairs of serial names and human readable name. Code is also much cleaner with field names. rawContacts[xyz].fields[“Some Field Name”] reads much better than rawContacts[xyz].fields.fld123ABC456Question: is there a native way to find who and when made a field name change. Also how the change was made old name → new name and old type → new type I have been asking Airtable, as enterprise user for years now, to implement admin layer on field definitions, so that very few people can make these devastating changes. In the meantime, is there a log of these changes natively?Or does it have to be a hack of either manually defininThere is a BASE / Table / bunch of fi
I’ve been building a workflow that connects Airtable to a CMS so blog content can move from planning to publishing with less manual work. The setup usually includes title, slug, content, images, publish date, and status fields, plus a draft/review/publish flow.I’m curious how others here manage content operations: do you keep Airtable as the source of truth, or do you use it only for planning?Happy to share the structure I use if anyone is trying to reduce manual blog publishing work.
Hi All, We are considering using Airtable for our team to manage projects we are doing for client. However, some of the data will be sensitive data belonging to the client. What’s the best way to manage this?
Hello.I'm a bit confused about the different types of extensions in Airtable and can't quite figure out which one makes sense for my use case. I already know how to solve this inside a specific base using older approaches, but now I want something more reusable across different bases and aligned with the newer tools.Previously, there were:Airtable Scripting Extensions - easy to reuse by copy-pasting code, but a bit too limited in terms of interactivity. Airtable Extensions (Blocks) - can be built from examples, require Node, and can be distributed across bases via remotes and CLI.Now we have:Custom extensions, available viahttps://airtable.com/create/extensions Interface Extensions, which can be created via prompt.I have two tasks where I’m not sure what’s the right approach. The docs don’t help much because I’m not even sure which section I should be reading.a) Fairly simple: select a table, pick a text field, and run a few transformations (truncate, capitalize, etc.).Ideally, I’d lik
Hi everyone,I earned my Airtable certification using my previous work email address. I no longer work for that company, and I’d like to renew my certification using my current email/account.Has anyone here successfully transferred or merged their Airtable Academy certification history, badges, or Community profile from an old work account to a new personal or work account?I’m especially interested in understanding:whether Airtable Support can merge Academy and Community profiles; what information they usually ask for; whether certification history and badges are preserved after the transfer; how long the process usually takes. Thanks in advance for any advice or experience you can share.
Hey all, figured I’d ask this question and see if anyone has advice/experience, plus it’s been awhile since an Outlook integration thread in case of application changes…So I’ve got an active automation setup integrated with an Outlook calendar wherein people submit tickets and dates, and when a date is created an automation fires to create an Outlook event, with the Outlook ID written into the record for reference. Then when certain conditions are met, another automation fires to update the Outlook Calendar event by referencing the ID. For the most part (like 97% of the time) this works fine, but I’m having a devil of a time on that last 3%. Some of this is accountable to people using the data layer and fulfilling update conditions at creation, those are able to be rectified. The real bothersome one is that rarely the creation automation gets thrown the error Microsoft reported an error while processing this action: An unknown error occurred. I appreciate how descriptive this is 🤪I’m
I have created a “Release Planner” base in Airtable for coordinating all the steps we have to complete for a software release. I created one table called ‘Template”, and I copy that template to a new table for each release. Now, I want to set up automations to notify me and the assigned to person daily while any task is open, across all tables. I seem only to have been able to set it up on one, but then it doesn’t copy over when I copy the template to a new table. And I can’t seem to set it up the right way every time, plus it’s time consuming. Does anyone have a hack for creating a base-wide notification? Or a way to copy automations across tables?Happy to do scripting, but I would need detailed instructions, as I haven’t done that in Airtable before.Thank you!
Hi all, I am running into a challenge again related to automations and multiple select fields. I have a table where locations are input as “city, province” (I live in Canada). For example, “Toronto, ON”. When a record is approved, an automation kicks in and has to populate the location field in another table. The problem is that when I assign the location field in the 2nd table as a multiple select, the automation splits the city and province (“Toronto”, “ON”). I tried making the location field in the 2nd table as a single line text but still the problem exists. I have spent so much time trying to figure this out but am unable to. Is there a way around it? Thanks so much.I am attaching screenshots showing how the location is populated in both tables.
Hi Airtable Community, I’ve got a sandbox running on one of my networked Airtable bases as I work on configuration to connect it to another platform, but I keep getting an error message when I try to apply changes made in the Sandbox to Production: It’s the same error every time. I have creator permissions in both environments, as do the accounts of our external vendor working on the integration. I emailed Support, and was greatly disappointed to get an AI bot response. I’m hoping some real human beings can help me out.
Has anyone managed to get their Extension updated or get an answer from support regarding their extension in the marketplace? I submitted 2 months ago, no answer, multiple support tickets same thing. What is happening?
Good Morning, I am working on building a table where my daily sales data is entered, and that data point from this year can be compared to the same day of the week from the previous year. I am not a professional developer, so forgive me if my knowledge is at the beginner level. Currently, all of the data is populating correctly, but I have to manually enter in the SelfLink value. I have tried to create an automation for when a new record is created, however have been unsuccessful so far. Here is a screenshot of how the relevant points from the table are set up. My question is, do I need an automation, or is there a lookup field that I could enter into get the selflink field to automatically reference the corresponding day from the calendar week number of the previous year?Any direction on how to correctly format either option is greatly appreciated. Thank you
I am on the free plan only.I am the only person with access. I tried to add four other people with editor status. Although the dialog says I can have up to 5 collaborators (including me), the Share invite box will let me add only 2 of the 4?
In the interface I have a list with two linked levels. Level 2 (parent) only has a handful of records. One of the records in Level 2 has over 4000 Level1 (child) records. When I open that parent record to vie the child records it is extremely slow and the slowness makes the application largely non responsive - until I move to a different parent record or some other table in the interface. If I simply open another list in the interface with only the one child table, all 4500 records open pretty much instantly. What's the best way to handle this?
Hi, I’m not so clever at IT and despite reading the Help and this site can’t find an answer. In Kanban view, all cards are listed under UncategorizedSo, how do I create Categories to get the cards out of that column?
I’m building an information architecture for digital asset workflows, especially emerging genAI workflows.Airtable is one early prototype surface for that work, but the larger project is not “just an Airtable base.” The real system sits above it: it defines the structure that commercial asset production actually needs — intent, inputs, constraints, orchestration, outputs, and governance. What I’m trying to solve is not simply how to store asset metadata, or how to bolt AI onto an existing workflow. The deeper question is whether brand rules, approved references, creative constraints, and output expectations can be made structured enough that a system can actually carry them without collapsing into prompt chaos. One early execution proof of that model takes the form of an Airtable base. But the interesting part is that I’m not just manually building a base and calling it done. The larger system expects that prototype, specifies it, auto-builds it, and now uses that live Airtable base as a
Hi,As our team has grown from 1 person to over 5, we’re seeing an increasing amount of user errors, leading to costly data fixing maintenance. To some part a new user will become more proficient over time and will be able to avoid errors, but as long as it’s possible to err, humans will. The aim is to further expand, so at this point I’m taking some time to consider alternatives. What alternatives/add-ons are there one could consider to improve the UX and data integrity? I want to stick to Airtable as the system centre, but I am willing to fork over some parts of the most used interfaces to another system, if that would bring order to the current issues. Mobile use is not critical for use, lean laptop use is.I remember hearing about Noloco in some discussion. Would that help? What other systems comes to your mind?At the heart of our problems are these Airtable’s inabilities:inability to update a record only when separate (e.g.) “OK/Save” is clicked inability to force interface fields to
I’m running into an issue where the hyperlink is not being created in an automated email that includes a link to an Airtable form that includes prefilled fields using Markdown. I have hyperlinks in almost all my automated emails, which is a lot, and all the others seem to work fine, except for these ones that include pre-filled fields. Example of a link with prefilled fields that is not producing a hyperlink[Home Assessment Scheduling Form](https://airtable.com/appi09WiT6MFsy9zo/pagYdHzqnzsTRVhmn/form?prefill_Efficiency Arizona Applicant Name={Applicant}&prefill_Your Email Address={Applicant Email}&prefill_Street Address={Full Address}&prefill_Project Number Form Submission={Project #}&hide_Project Number Form Submission=true) I thought maybe it had to do with spaces, but I’ve tested it with underscore, no spaces, and even found something saying using a + or %20 between words, but none of those produced just the hyperlink, they all showed the full string like above. He
Hi everyone and Airtable Support team,I am writing to request a one-time reset or waiver of our automation quota for the current billing cycle. What happened: I was performing a bulk field update in our base (which contains approximately 18,000 records). I converted a Single Select field to a Link to another record field. I did not realize that this conversion would trigger an existing automation for every single record in the base simultaneously. The result: Our entire monthly quota of 25k automation runs was exhausted in a matter of minutes. The impact: Our entire content and editorial workflow is currently paralyzed. We rely on these automations for assignment notifications, status updates, and external freelancer communications. Without a reset, our team is unable to move work forward for the remainder of the month.Support history: We have opened a support ticket (Ticket # 01198382) but haven't received a response yet (and we don’t expect a response, as my coworker opened a separate u
This question has probably already been answered… but I haven’t managed to find it.So here it goes.I’m trying to implement a work control system for a nursing home. Many of the staff only need to view their tasks and record certain information in a couple of processes.I’ve designed a form for this purpose. On the other hand, the Interface contains multiple administrative views and queries.Currently, we only have one editor user and one viewer user.Unfortunately, I can’t get the staff to have access only to creating, editing, and viewing their own tasks.I’ve tried embeds, iframes, HTML… in many different ways, and nothing works. Airtable always limits me.Am I doing something wrong?Do I necessarily have to pay for additional users?Would that give me another interface?Would Fillout (as suggested by Scott Rose @ScottWorld) be the solution?I don’t want to use tools like Make or n8n.Thanks in advance.Natxo Rodríguez
Hi guys,I have been trying to format my gmail body using html tags but i am not getting my desired output. The formatting looks awfl when sent to customer. Extra spaces have been added above & below the text despite setting the padding to 0. Here’s the formatting i have been using: <table role="presentation" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td align="center" style="padding:0;background-color:#ffffff;"> <table role="presentation" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="max-width:520px;"> <tr><td style="padding:0px 16px 14px 16px;"><span style="font-family:Georgia,serif;font-size:10px;color:#aaaaaa;letter-spacing:4px;text-transform:uppercase;">Faisal Silk &nbsp;&middot;&nbsp; Order Update</span></td></tr> <tr><td style="padding:0 16px 0 32px;"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif;font-size:9px;color:#aaaaaa;letter-spacing:2px;text-transfo
In a rich-text enabled long text I can use [] to create a check list.Trying to create a checklist by default in an automation using the same function but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there anything different I need to do if this is a capability? If not i can look into adding it to a script that I have earlier in the automation.
We’ve never had this issue before, but the Interface we use for our sales team keeps crashing. This recently started happening since Monday, April 20th. It seems to be connected to the total number of operations in the report, but my question is why is this an issue now and not before yesterday?
Hi,How can I change which fields are visible in the “Click to see underlying records” drill-down in an interface dashboard pivot table?Automatically I get “sum” and “link to cost centers” but I’d need to show something else. Airtable instructions claim that you should be able to do it, but I just can’t see where to do it. “Underlying record detailsIn the User actions section of a dashboard visualization there is the option to allow end users to "Click to see underlying data" from the interface page. This option is per-visualization, meaning you as a builder have the granularity to toggle this on for individual dashboard insights. The option to turn this feature on can also be enabled by double-clicking on a visualization on the canvas. The drill-down will only show the underlying records associated with the visualization and builders can configure: Visible fields Default sort Record details for the records shown Record details for foreign fields (This is available by clicking on
